Staff was very unfriendly
Location and friendly staff
Pub attached was fun
Great location and excellent pub food!
En-suite was very small so it would be a squeeze for some guests!
Fabulous location in town. Beautifully maintained historic building. Generous breakfast (but no fruit).
Thin walls (could hear family in next room).
lovely pub and staff
shower was not very good
Great location, fun to be in this old historic property. Easy walking distance to the things in the town and Cotswold Way. The porridge was fantastic!
We had a couple people that were nice to us. The rest seemed unhappy. The guy who came up to try and figure out our towel rack really didn’t seem to know how anything worked in the room? One of the breakfast staff was lovely and one looked startled and glared at me when I asked for some toast!
Wonderful breakfast and food at the restaurant. We also had a lovely dinner. Easy street parking, on the first night, we were able to park just outside the front door. Nice size room. Easy check-in and check-out. No worries about later check-ins since staff are present pretty late for the restaurant. Great location near the main street of town.
Our room was near the public bathrooms and there was a bit of a smell when walking by that area. There was no smell in the room itself. The room had a view of the outdoor area where people from the bar or hotel could sit outside. This made my husband uncomfortable with leaving the windows open. Luckily, it was not too hot during our stay. I thought there may be noise at night but that wasn't an issue.
Very quaint building in typical Cotswold style - lots of character

Everything was great
Colazione ottima

The old world charm, the fantastic staff and the central location.
Nothing!!!
Lovely old pub in a great location in the Cotswolds. Evening meal and breakfast were great.
Great position. Lovely pub. Rooms were nice and staff were very friendly and helpful.
We liked everything about our stay, the staff were fantastic, the room was great and the food was good.
Personal choice really but I struggled not been a real ale fan to find a drink for me. Morretti on draught but I'm not keen. Trying to get served at the bar was difficult due to people sitting or standing drinking at the bar. Parking is an issue as it is a very busy place in the summer months.
Idyllische omgeving, heel erg gezellig pubhotel met mooie grote kamers en heerlijk eten.
Bed was een beetje krakerig, maar dat is echt een detail, want alles was top verder.
Good food and excellent staff.
Room was tired and not as clean as it could be.
The character of the building and the pleasant staff, good food served at breakfast and dinner
Nothing
Great location, nice pub setting and the food was excellent. Good sized and well appointed room.
Great location, historic building. Nice to have kettle in room with tea bags and cookies.
Room was tiny, carpet was gross (not clean). Mattress uncomfortable. Teeny tiny bathroom. Staff were not friendly or welcoming despite reviews that said they were.
Location and previous reviews
Nothing. It was a lovely place to stay and eat
great historic location and building. friendly helpful staff. good beer and great breakfast.
staff smoking in area between room and restaurant
A lovely Inn close to the centre of Chipping Camden. Beautiful breakfast served. The staff and the landlord were all very friendly and welcoming. We ate in the pub one evening, the food was excellent and reasonably priced.
Friendly staff
Good location.
Very tired in need of a renovation.
Everything! The place is 100% authentic, the food was great and the staff was wonderful. We are arranged the trip at the last moment, I asked them to provide a birthday desert for my partner on the same day of our arrival and they managed to do even that. Trully an amazing and really wonderful place full of great people.
The place is quite peaceful, friendly staff food was amazing ❤️
Property very clean. Ideally situated near shops. No parking at property but not hard to find space on road. The room was comfortable and coffee, tea facilities available

Fantastic Staff. Great bar and beers. Small but very comfortable room - bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with the most amazing yoghurt. Great location in the centre of Chipping Campden.
Well, our only meal at the pub was fish and chips which was sadly a bit disappointing. It was nicely cooked, nicely presented but a bit ordinary and not much fish inside the batter to be honest.
Good location, friendly staff member and lovely breakfast.
Dated tired & hot room. Cleaning was not great lots of cobwebs & dust.
room was quiet and adequate for what we required
breakfast on first day was poor but improved dramatically the second day we believe a different chef
Excellent welcome but disappointed that I couldn’t extend our dinner reservation to 5 people, in the restaurant, only in the bar with football on the TV. When it came to it, the restaurant was almost empty and so we missed dining with friends and the hotel missed the custom of three hungry diners.
As above.
Location excellent, staff very helpful, lovely breakfast
Very small shower room. The room was over the outside drinking area of the pub and you couldn’t sleep till everyone had gone home.
Loved the location in a great pub. Room was quite basic, but was quiet and comfortable. Food was really good in the pub. A very generous full breakfast
Room was a little bit on the small size and quite dark, although I had a downstairs room. On the plus side it was nice and cool in the evenings which was a plus given the hot weather when I was there
The inn is located in a charming village, very close to the church and center of town. It's a historical building with a lot of personality. The pub and breakfast areas were very beautiful.
Room was very small, damp and had a distinct smell of mold. We went in a heatwave so it was extremely warm at night. Had a small fan in the room which was a lifesaver. The window could only open very little and I asked the staff about opening the window more but they said it's 'open'. Generally all our questions to the staff were answered with a 'no'. Another example, they had a big sign outside saying 'Terrace Garden Open' but the terrace was actually closed the whole time we were there. We asked if it will be open and they said 'no'. It's an okay stay for short term or for maybe a cooler season.
The Eight Bell is a fabulous place to stay. Been coming for years and it's always as good. The food is gorgeous, the staff are all so friendly and obliging and the beds, rooms etc are so comfortable. Absolutely love this place.
That we couldn't stay longer on this occasion!! 😀
Delicious Breakfast cooked to order. Beautiful setting and comfortable room.
Good atmosphere. Food was good. Friendly staff.
We stayed there during the heatwave, and our room was very hot. Even with two fans. Mercifully there was noone in the beer garden just outside our room, otherwise we would have been even more uncomfortable!
Friendly and helpful staff team. Working hard in 34° heat. Chef cooked exceptionally good steak and breakfast next morning. Many thanks
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. One staff member kindly offered to meet me at 6:45 am, long before her shift began, to send me off early with a packed breakfast! We enjoyed delicious meals and time in the pub. The room was attractive with historic beams, yet had been comfortably modernized.
The rooms and pub were full of character and charm.
I had a room above the courtyard, and it was loud well past closing.
Friendly staff, great food, great drinks and a beautiful historical building
Posizione ottima . Struttura tipica e accogliente. Doccia fantastica
The staff!!
The bed and couch were low
The staff was very welcoming. It's a busy place (because it's also a deservably popular pub), but we never felt neglected. The breakfast was excellent. And the location could not be beat. Parking was pretty easy to find nearby.
Great location to hike the Cotswolds. Very homey Inn. Perfect for our needs as a Bed and Breakfast.
It's a period property, the staff are very helpful and friendly. The food is very good
Superb breakfast, excellent staff, very friendly and welcoming.
Pillows need replacing they were flat and well used
Nice pub and good location
Heating was turned off and the rooms were cold. It’s a bit overpriced whereby we were asked to pay £3.50 for a small bottle of water during breakfast
Restaurant and bar area and outside seating area
Size of bedroom
Friendly staff, ideal location for walking, good meals
Although it was freshly prepared very limited choice - no fresh fruit option dinky cooked
Bathroom not very good and furniture tired. Shower was dirty in a corners with mould. Sink too small and cupboard above it made it very uncomfortable.
Convenient and cosy
Noise early morning outside room Very hard pillows
The cleanliness, friendly staff, great food and location.
Nothing
Staff very good, breakfast selections and quality very good, dinner good.
Parking near the hotel is quite difficult Bed was not great.
Excellent location. Friendly staff. Good breakfast.
Lovely pub with rooms. Staff super friendly and let us store our bicycles.
It had lots of character. Rooms are smallish, but nicely done. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. Breakfast was very good and it was great having a pub below.
Unfortunately the sink was not cleaned before our arrival and the bed cover was stained, also there is quite some noise coming from the garden.
Cozy, friendly, and helpful.
No blow dryer or lotion in the room.
Excellent location in Chipping Campden, very efficient and friendly staff.
No off street parking, but we managed to park on the street close to the front door.
Prachtige oude pub. Eten is heerlijk.
The room was comfortable, and the service and food were exceptional! We enjoyed dinner and drinks in the pub, and the English breakfast was the best we had during our time in the Cotswolds.
Not a thing -- our stay was great!
Perfect location, quiet and comfortable. Friendly staff, Beck made us feel so welcomed.
Good room, good food, very good staff
None
The location could not be better. We stayed 5 nights, using the pub as hub for visiting the Cotswold sights. Breakfast was excellent and we used the excellent restaurant on several nights. We loved the atmosphere in the pub after a day of touring the sights. The priest hole in the restaurant was most interesting.
The pub is a very old historic building and the room was small but it did the job.
Excellent chef.
Shower a bit grimy due to lack of ventilation.
Very friendly staff, food was excellent value, very warm and cozy room
Lights kept going off and on, t.v was unable to watch as kept changing channels
The meals were superb, as were the staff. Excellent location.
Street parking only (which was never a problem). Our ‘small room’ was just that — but comfortable and well appointed.
Location was fabulous Rooms were clean Beds were comfortable
Shower was aweful Water pressure was not strong at all and came out like a mist rather than proper shower and temperature was so unpredictable, it froze then scalded for 30 seconds with random 5 seconds of perfect temps No additional bare necessities were provided like no lotion, no shampoo, no conditioner, no shower cap, no hair dryer was provided
The Atmosphere…from the moment we stepped through the front door we went back in time…the smell of aged wood as you waked through the pub and the very, very small doorways…the bathroom/shower was modernized for comfort and very much appreciated…the view from our windows (room5) was priceless.
Nothing
Excellent full English breakfast. Cozy pub atomospher at night.
The location was good, and the room was big with plenty of storage space. Breakfast was lovely, freshly cooked to order and plenty of choice. Sunday lunch was nice with friendly service.
Bar staff were unfriendly and impersonal. Bar closed before normal UK last orders which was a surprise for an Inn! The website says the rooms are ready at 3pm. and they mean this to the minute, so don't be early. Not the greatest of welcomes !
Room was cozy, but commensurate with a Cotswold house, and very comfortable. Pub itself was very friendly, not too noisy, with friendly and welcoming staff, excellent beer and a good, if slightly limited menu. Food was well presented and of high quality. Excellent breakfast, freshly cooked. Location was within easy walking distance of the rest of Chipping Campden.
Parking is awkward. Although there is free kerbside parking, finding a slot could be difficult. given the high number of visitors to Chipping Campden. This is not, of course, the fault of the hotel!
Eight Bells is a delightful Inn in a town to be seen to be believed. We stayed overnight in a lovely room with a very comfy bed. We ate lunch and breakfast at the Inn and the standard of food was exceptional. I would also like to mention the staff who were all welcoming, friendly and helpful.
Nothing
Really nice breakfast. Full English.
I could some noise from another room, but it wasn’t too bad.
Original features and very clean
Shower wasn’t great but ok
Great food, great staff, nice room
Convenient location great staff food and drink selection
Nothing
Location = Top. Not on the very High Street but very close, on a bit quieter street. Rooms = It is an inn, not the Ritz-Carlton. So, from expectations, the room was more than sufficient and with a nice design. The Pub = Super cozy. Lots of dogs and pleasant people. The Grub = A restaurant clearly above average in the gastro-pub genre.
Nothing to do with the hotel: At easter, Chipping Campden is crowded, so parking in the closest proximity of the hotel may offer a challenge.
Great location.
Pillows on the bed were quite hard, probably need to upgrade to make it perfect. Breakfast and staff were faultless.
Room was nicely presented, clean, quiet. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom clean with nice towels. Plenty of space and nice coffee
One very small issue was that the shower lacked a little water pressure because it is electric but that was not a big issue
Excellent room and breakfast. Friendly staff, good location.
No car park but understandable why not.
