Great location
Overpriced
The room was comfortable and had the facilities we need. Food was good, plenty of choice for breakfast. Location was ideal on the Main Street.
Our room had a small area with scrapped off paint by the wardrobe.
Location
Room was onsecond floor- no lifts
Lovely staff, breakfast excellent
Room a little hot radiator on and difficult to turn down
Central location
Breakfast was lovely
Decor a little dated
Room was a good size and comfortable
The bathroom needs a complete renovation. The bath had been partly re-enamelled but was peeling off leaving a rough service on the bottom of the bath/shower. Extractor fan not working so ceiling and walls covered in mould
What a wonderful hotel! The location was brilliant, the building is beautiful and the staff were wonderful (especially the young lady at front reception who was so kind and helpful).
Nothing - it was just perfect
It was a wonderful place, hope to pay another visit next year.
Rien
Very good lots of choice
Can't think of anything.
Price
Tv not working. Hot breakfast food cold. Room only accessible externally.
Great place to stay in Alnwick. Really central with parking. Great breakfat.
Easy check in, great location, friendly staff.
All accommodation in Alnwick is expensive for what it is. Not everyone who needs to stay somewhere is a tourist who can afford to pay tourist rates. This place is less expensive than others, but still not cheap!
Location, good car park, good sized room, nice breakfast on the morning we left.
As we were doing the McMillan Mighty Hike we asked for some breakfast sandwiches to be made up for 7am as we had to be at the start line for 7:30am. These were made but unfortunately when we opened them the bread was mouldy. Disappointed we had to bin them. Also a fridge in the room would of been helpful
All good but must mention price for drinks quite steep me an my sine bought 6 double Glendfiddich’s thought £59 was quite expensive
Excellent. Everything - except unable to get food either in bar or restaurant on one evening. Friendly and helpful staff.
Nothing.
Great location right in the centre of Alnwick. All the attractions are within walking distance. Hotel has a lot of character and a charm to it. Really friendly staff and very helpful
Room could have been a bit cleaner, there was a lot of dust on the curtains and just needed a bit more tlc. The were some signs of damp too in the corner.
Fabulous location and good to have a car park. Hotel very common and the room was great.
Breakfast was tepid. Admittedly, we booked a late breakfast 9.30. Dinner was very disappointing I ate the biscuits in the room afterwards because I was still hungry after my 3 course meal! The main of sea bass was minimal, my ice creamer dessert was like a child’s portion 3 scoops of cheap ice cream vanilla, chocolate and strawberry x. Service was great, food was xxxx
Good choice, staff very pleasant and helpful
The location was excellent, hotel good for the price.
Buffet breakfast, some of the food wasn't very warm
Staff very friendly and went out of there way to leave a card to mark our celebration. Room was clean and bed was comfortable with decent selection for breakfast.
No lift, furniture in room looked tired. Only one easy chair for two person room. Paint on bath panel not to good standard.
Everything
There was nothing you could do better
The location is excellent with a convenient car park. Breakfast was good and the staff helpful.
The chips with the pie of the day are too thick - they were slightly undercooked (always a problem with this style of chips). Going to our room in the garden included having to go past the ashtray at the door - which needs work as it sticks.
The staff at breakfast and reception were polite and kind Good location
Ok..... The furniture in the room was very dated The floor in the bathroom was a different level and you had a ramp to the bathroom! The kettle was filthy and had water and limescale I'm it. The mattress was thin and that made the bed uncomfortable to sleep in The TV couldn't be switched off by remote so we had to swith it off by the plug. Outside the window was a ca rpark so there was no.privacy.
Everything was great apart from the cooked food for breakfast could have been hotter. A good selection of food though.
The breakfast could have been kept hotter
A lovely hotel with history in a great location! The staff were friendly. The rooms were spacious & clean. The breakfast was good. Plenty of free parking!
Nothing comes to mind!
What a fabulous location, and the staff were very helpful. Loved the bar area Really enjoyed our time at the White Swan.
The room I booked was an executive twin, which I didn't feel met the expectations of such. There was no seating area as promised. There was a chair in the corner and another under the unit, but not as shown in the pictures, around a little table, which as it happened housed the TV. The window was an old sash window which was very dingy and in disrepair, with a dismal view. It was a shame as it was a special birthday celebration. It didn't spoil our weekend, and we would stop again. However. I would hope the hotel would take these comments on board. The public areas were lovely, as was the breakfast. A lot more positives than negatives. Thank you.
Great location for visiting Alnwick Castle & surrounded areas , Breakfast was served in the Olympic dining room ,it was beautifully decorated with the paneling & decor from Titanic’s sister ship RMS Olympic , Breakfast was very good with lots of choices and the staff were friendly and helpful
Alas the room No 6 needs some maintenance in the bathroom, the single glazed window ran with condensation causing puddles on the window sill , also it’s cracked
Great located hotel for our visit to Alnwick. Easy to park - note that there is a public car park behind the hotel that is free to park in for 24 hours which is easier to manoeuvre in than the hotel car park!
We stayed in the hotel rooms at the back of the hotel, not in the main building. The WiFi did not seem to extend to our room. The room also seemed to need a little tlc as appeared a little shabby.
Absolutely love the location. It is very close to castle and the gardens. Loved the interiors. Comfortable rooms. The staff were amazing. Big shout out to the reception staff Lisa.
There were a lot of stairs to climb. If you are carrying heavy luggage or have mobility issues , then this can be a problem.
Very central location, fab breakfast options, really comfy beds, parking.

Situated in the town centre which we wanted, close to pubs shops etc , not far from the coast and countryside. our room was in the new block overlooking the gardens, and was in a quiet location, which we requested. Although the room was on the small side, and lacked hanging/cupboard and drawer space it was comfortable.
Regarding our room , the big let-down was the bathroom, this is in need of a major refurb. Poor shower system ,and no shaver sockets. Although we had minor disappointments, as mentioned in previous comments, WE did enjoy our stay overall. The older lady staff members on duty at breakfast time were always smiling, and on top of their game, nothing too much trouble , some of the younger ones however I felt required more training. on a final note it would have been nice to see the Managers presence about the hotel.
The room curtain kept falling off room 123 twice it was sorted but still dropped off Table was very bustie not cleaned for a while.
The location was really central in Alnwick.
Had to change room the first day as the mattress you could feel every spring, was really this and it needed a new one fitted in the room. Tv was also dated and tiny .
Loved the location
Lots of stairs especially for old people
La salle du petit déjeuner et sa situation
La lumière trop crue et trop forte dans la chambre et la salle de bains
Great location excellent staff
Breakfast excellent staff ,very helpful
Bar attached to hotel couldn’t do food when restaurant was busy , chef told barman not to take food orders . Should either have another chef or not advertise they are doing food in bar . To reach our room we had to go outside of the hotel which is okay if it isn’t raining , room could do with updating and a noise from water pipes running through all the time.
Nice that we could take our dog to breakfast in the bar as an alternative to the dining room. Great location and free parking.
Central location, easy access to amenities and surrounding area.
Other than the main reception/bar and dining room the hotel needs a general facelift/decoration in the rooms, rooms should have some drawers added for storage of smaller items etc.
The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was modest but comfortable
View of the castle
Room very tired. Dripping shower. Mattress uncomfortable. Toast was basically bread that had looked at the toaster.
Everything about the White Swam was superb, from the minute we walked it was perfect, a special word of thanks to the receptionist who was excellent unfortunately didn’t get her name but remembered she is from Australia. Check in was straightforward, and she gave us of information about the area and places to visit Our room was excellent very clean, beds comfortable. The breakfast was again excellent, loads to choose from. Would definitely recommend the hotel to family and friends
Nothing
It is such an interesting hotel with the amazing panelled dining room and beautiful glazing. Good choice at breakfast. Helpful staff.
Some parts of the hotel could do with a little tlc. In our room for example the bathroom window was untidy with smears of paint. A small thing I know but it felt like it was uncared for. Attention to these small details can make a difference to the overall impression of a place.
Breakfast great, location great.
The furniture in the bedroom was dated and cheap. Bath/shower had a cheap flimsy shower curtain.
Excellent proximity to town, easy parking. Room was very comfortable and the olympic dining room was stunning
THE STAFF WERE BRILLIANT , NOTHING WAS TO MUCH TROUBLE
Location, history, comfortable & clean
No lift to upper floors. Street noise from our bedroom.
Convenient for where we were going
We arrived hoping to get into the room at 2pm to change ready for a garden party we were attending at 2.30The parking situation caused great problems! As it was Saturday we couldn’t find any parking places in town. 🤷♀️We ended up sitting double parked in the car park for one and a half hours till 2 o’clock when we could finally get our key! The lady on Reception wasn’t helpful and simply said come back at 2pm. I can imagine Reception gets a lot of grief about parking. We also had noisy drunken people staying in a nearby room which prevented us from sleeping until they finally decided to go to bed.
Lovely building and good location
Room was very small and bed very small for two people. Tills turned off in the evening and no coffee available in the bar. Breakfast staff seemed to struggle to cope
Very nice building and decor. Smart bar. Helpful, friendly staff Comfortable bedroom with lovely bathroom
No hand wash in hedroom.Breakfast was disappointing, toast was bread, plates hot but no napkins to hold them, bfoid was cold. Coffee was good
Staff friendly, great breakfast choice
Was out every day. No room in car park one day but free 24 hour parking behind hotel. Breakfast buffet could have been hotter, but great selection.
Heerlijk groot bed en uitgebreid ontbijt in prachtige historische eetzaal.
Near the castle
ROom was filthy everything about it was nasty. Ground floor via lots of dirty steps really an outside annexe.. Dreadful!!!!
It was in a good location and easy to get around
Not a good hotel if you have walking problems lots of stairs, the rooms outside in the garden part would be hard and too far to walk. No body seem to be around to help
Central position
Road noise
The positives: Great location in the centre of Alnwick and a short walk from the Castle and Gardens Very upbeat and helpful reception staff and the breakfast lady was great. The Olympic room is impressive.
Less good: Room was in a 60s? block at the back of the hotel, small and a bit tired. Accessed by a gravel path (not great for wheely bags) and what looked like a fire door, felt we were very apart from the histioric bit of the hotel. Breakfast was a buffet, rather dull and more Travelodge like then you'd expect at this price. Bar looks like its been redone but is a bit bleak rather than cosy.
Old charm
Worn out, would need maintenance a lot work, kitchen do not meet the low expectations (although knowing that we are in UK)
Comfortable bed and pillows. Room and bathroom a good size Olympic Dining Room stunning
All good
Excellent position, in centre of town. Lovely hotel, good reception staff.Nice hotel bar.
Breakfast was very disorganised.
Good stop along between other locations, nothing special but exactly what we needed.
Fairly small room.
The dining room
Our room - on the second floor - too hot. Not enough ventilation. Breakfast service terrible Two breakfast orders - wrong twice.
Very clean and staff friendly. The location was perfect. Breakfast was great value and delicious.
There wasn’t anything that I didn’t like.
Okh
Hashbrowns were missing at breakfast The bathroom needs a total refurb You have to climb over the toilet to get into the bath
The location was ideal for several excursions The room was spacious The breakfast was excellent Staff were very helpful especially the dining room staff.
The stairs, although reception staff were helpful The bathroom is needing a real upgrade but the quality was once of a high standard
Great location
A little tired in places
The location is excellent if you plan to visit Alnwick Castle and gardens.
We really didn't like the disposable plastic glasses in the room.
The location the room , towels tea coffee etc breakfast nice

reception good, bar staff pleasant, dining room staff pleasant. Generally a happy crew; well done.
Mmmm, should have known by the lack of visible menus for the Olimpic Restsurant. Fabulous room and that's about all I can positively say. There are expectations set by the prospect of dining in the first class restaurant of Titanic's sister ship but none were even the slightest bit met. This had to be the most expensive, disappointing dinner I've ever had accompanied by disco power ballads and surly staff who quite frankly looked embarrassed to be there. Microwaved black pudding bonbons that arrived within minutes of ordering (which gave the game away on the ping time) followed by 'boullabaise' which had never seen fish stock. I can't help but think that the management have missed the point of 'fine dining'. Bloody tertible-avoid
The location
Needs a refurb. Breakfast was very poor, cheap supermarket bread. Continental option, very disappointing. No fresh fruit, cheese or cold meats. Or even some nice fresh bread.
Nothing. Absolutely horrid stay and never again The breakfast was shocking. Barely warm food that was never temperature checked. Couldn’t eat it . There were 3 hard fried eggs to choose from and all were cold . The beans were just warm and I can’t even imagine how much bacteria thrived in warm conditions . I left it all save for a croissant . We did get a refund on the breakfasts . The lady on reception said she’d never had as many complaints the morning we left . Doesn’t that tell you everything you need to know about this place
Cleanliness was horrendous especially in bathroom. Faeces on floor and around chrome work on toilet. Hair and rubbish on desk. Kettle not emptied . Shower tiling still had scum on it from previous use . Didn’t dare walk barefoot in the room. Pillows had yellow stains on them so had to use a bath towel wrapped laundry so that I dared to sleep. I felt dirty when I left . The place needs closing down immediately and staff retrained.
The famous dinning room
Staff the room faced the busy high street and was on the ground floor and the bathroom was grim. Restaurant staff were useless and food portions were small

Excellent location and lovely breakfast
Hard to know where to start… - Unfriendly staff. Two receptionists kept chatting (not work-related) for 10-15min while we waited to check in. Then didn’t show any willingness to help us find an item we had forgotten (we returned to look for it hours after checking out). Forgetting is of course on us, but I’m not sure what it would’ve cost them to help. Only two examples of what the tone was throughout the stay. - Noisy. Room faced a busy street and had neither soundproofing nor double-glazed windows. Passers-by talking at normal tone of voice sounded like they were inside. - Dirty. Several stains and bugs, especially in the toilet. - Old. I know it’s a classic lodge, but everything was extremely outdated. Bed was also quite small, smaller than a normal double bed. The one positive is location. Terrific for those exploring Alnwick.
We enjoyed a short stay at the White Swan when we decided to explore Alnwick Castle and Gardens. Alnwick is a very picturesque market town and is small enough to explore on foot for even the physically challenged amongst us (78 years young and far from nimble). The Olympic Suite (Dining Room) must be one of the most spectacular rooms for miles around, nothing in Alnwick Castle approaches it for elegance. The heavily carved wooden panelling, ceiling and carved decorations originally graced RMS Olympic, the Titanic's sister ship! The Olympics' staircase (parts of it at least) lift the White Swan's stairway from the mundane to the extraordinary. If you do visit the White Swan, ask the receptionist for a copy of the 4 page potted history of the Olympic and how parts of the ship ended their days in a 300 year old coaching Inn in Northumberland! If history, or at least the Olympic's part of it, don't interest you the White Swan is still work visiting. It's next door to Alnwick Castle, the home of the Duke of Northumberland, the food is excellent, the prices very reasonable and above all has friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and helpful Staff who lift your experience to the very enjoyable. Give it a try, you won't regret it.
Missed
Signage for car park was covered by trees
Old world charm. Very good customer service. Excellent location
All fine
Absolutely beautiful Spotlessly clean All features beautifully preserved with modern finishing xx
Nothing ..
Staff were very helpful original room allocated was on the 2nd floor but when I explained that my husband had bad knees , I was offered another on the ground floor which was ideal.
The room was a bit dated, shower was over the bath and tiles were in poor condition , wash hand basin needed replaced. Main complaint was the hot breakfast which was of poor quality and was barely warm.
Prima locatie, net hotel
Goed
This historic hotel is perfectly situated in Alnwick's main high street very close to the castle, shops and restaurants and a short walk from the bus station. Room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The reception area and stairs had a lovely charm about them: but of course the highlight is the breakfast room being the reclaimed room from the Olympic [sister ship to Titanic]. Breakfast was a self service of fruits, juice selection, bakery items and yoghurts alongside a hot buffer of quality. Coffee and toast served by charming staff. All the staff on reception and at breakfast [often the same ladies] were charming, friendly and very welcoming. Definately a place to return to
Great location
Nothing! It was fab!!
Excellent breakfast quality produce
Limited choice on evening menu
Beautiful Olympic Restaurant, lovely breakfast. Welcoming and helpful staff each of whom went out of their way to assist. Special mention of Lisa for her care and help.
Difficult access for wheeled walker user to garden rooms along a gravel path.
Location and staff were top draw.
Breakfast both days we were they the breafast was cold, how anybody can fry eggs and keep the yolk cold is beyond me. Bacon was done in the oven but again cold. Black pudding was overcooked and cold .both the beans and mushrooms were hot one day and cold the next.
This is our third visit to this hotel, each visit we have enjoyed our stay, the staff all very friendly and helpful. Our room was perfectly good ( yes maybe a bit of decorating needed) but of a good size and comfortable,it had tea and coffee and biscuits provided, towels all clean and it serves as a great base to visit not only Alnwick but other interesting places. We don't find the hotel any more noisy than others in a central location, Our breakfast was perfectly good, the usual bacon, eggs, sausages, black pudding, baked beans and tomatoes, toast, fruit, pasties yogurt, etc. We had plenty to set us up for the day. This visit we didn't eat in but did use the bar. The Olympic dinning room shows how the ship would have been. We will definitely be returning.
The location and history of the hote
Parking. As my husband is disabled
Staff very helpful from the moment we arrived the food was lovely & the room was clean and tidy.
Location was good for my visit to Alnwick Gardens. Room and bed were comfortable. The hotel is 3 miles from Alnmouth Railway station. Regular public bus service to Alnwick , taxi is £15 each way on a Sunday. The walk to and from Alnmouth station is really good, takes about 90 minutes. I used the bus from the station to Alnwick and walked to catch my train home on my return.
Bathroom could do with an hours maintenance, sealer around bath and some tile grouting is black. The toilet seat is loose, Breakfast, cooked breakfast is good quality food, but was cold, even the toast, what a shame.
Nothing bad to say excellent rooms / breakfast/ bar and staff 👍👍
The staff were brilliant, friendly and welcoming. Nice big room. Great blackout curtains. Amazing, tasty food. Great base location. Loads of parking close by (if you can't get in the hotel carpark) and mostly free 24 hour spaces. I would definitely stay here again 😊
It can't be helped because of the type of property/windows, so I don't hold it against the hotel but I heard every car each night and it sounded like a drag race outside. I'm not sure if all the room doors are the same but they could benefit from some sort of seal when closed because I thought the neighbours were in the room with me whenever they entered or left their room. But it isn't the hotels fault that some people don't know how to be quiet during early/late hours.
Good location. Easy access to major attractions. Friendly staff.
The bathroom is Mouldy. The bed is uncomfortable. The pillows are so old and dirty. And at the reception and on the stairs going up it's smelly.
Situation and staff
Room
Breakfast
Location excellent for all of Alnwick, and buses run from nearby to local places and further afield. Several good eating and drinking places in town. Smallish car at rear is free but is first come first served. There is a public car park across road behind hotel and this is free for 24 hours. Useful if you take your car out and there is no space on return. Breakfast good and usual fare but limited cereal and fruit choices.
Was in an annex at rear of hotel so don't know what the main hotel was like. Had to walk up some stairs and out of the side of the hotel, up more steps and down a 25 metre gravel path to access the building and room. There was no security on the building door. Weather was fine but the walk would not have been fun in nastier weather. Wouldn't have wanted to try and take cases that way. Were advised by reception that we could exit our buiding to the car park via a fire exit door to get our luggage in, and were asked to re-enter and re-lock the door, which we did. Came back to the car park on several occasions and on trying the fire exit door to more easily access the room found it unlocked. Not secure!
Location in central of town and easy parking
Bathroom very dated and room similar
