Provider-sourced guest reviews.
We were only there for one night. Location was superb for visiting shops & close to gods restaurants.
Great location, easy access to bars and restaurants. Excellent breakfast. Room spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. And all staff were friendly and helpful.
Hotel was great thankyou
Woken up in the night by teenagers shouting and swearing outside the hotel in the park and road. Would have been great if a policeman had turned up
Excellent standard throughout. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent bedroom with all facilities. Superb restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. Great central location, good parking. Overall excellent and highly recommended.
Nothing
The room was good and hotel in a great location
The breakfast was poor and cold. Bacon was dry as if it had been sitting along time and it was tough and hard to cut. One needed a good set of teeth even to attempt to eat this. Great shame that the bacon wasn’t cooked fresher as I love bacon. We ate out for our evening meals as we were not impressed with the menu selection you provided
Great location, bars and shops all within a few mins walk
Rooms were roomy, staff were great many were exceptional , evening meal was ok. Location is great. Building is impressive if a little tired in parts.
Breakfast was far from good. Not sure why they don’t have a buffet for the cooked breakfast. It slows the whole process and although the staff were great at bossing people to their tables and the service was good the experience was excessively regimented when compared with the best. Also, it would be so much easier using a buffet process for the cooked breakfast’s. The quality of several breakfast items was questionable, eg the pastries tasted artificial and the sausages were not great. The breakfast bap was in fact a brioche. Strictly speaking, brioche and a bap are two entirely distinct types of bread with different cultural origins, ingredients, and textures. Details are important and reflect the quality of hotel leadership verses the reality The waste bin in the room had not been emptied from the previous guests and the night time noise from fans etc was unnecessary and interfered with a good night’s sleep.
Location
Breakfast could be a little bit better more local products Also people staying should not have to pay for parking
The bed! & the location
Reception staff Hotel felt like it needed a refub Room was very small for a superior double Only two towels were out, for two people the other set was in a sealed bag in the cupboard. No hotel parking, it was private so drop off cost money for 2 hours minimum stay

Brilliant location at bottom of Montpellier. The car park always has space and is very secure and convenient. The room was comfortable and had all we needed for an overnight stay. Had we being staying longer we might have considered a slightly larger room.
Nothing really. It suited us down to the ground.
Very friendly staff,
Full English breakfast was not great
Excellent hotel, comfy stay and great breakfast.
Good choices
Duvet was too small, but it was a king size in a double cover very strange
The location of the hotel was perfect, the outdoor area was lovely and provided a nice relaxed environment to enjoy the sunny weather. The room was comfortable.
Having to pay for parking.
Lovely service. Nice size room
We had issues with lift one morning, it went out of order when we were on 3rd floor. Also in checking out there card machine caused both our cards decline, so we had to then contact our bank, but found it was fine. Then on retry it worked OK! Also tv channels not worked on returning in our room of an evening out. Out phone in room had no info in calling reception.
Central location. Lovely rooms. Helpful staff.
Parking difficult especially if you need to charge EV. Also, ridiculous policy re allergies. Would not return to restaurant there.
Beautiful property well appointed. Breakfast excellent.
Small room.
Good breakfast and comfortable

Gorgeous historical building - the Plugin design staircase wallpaper is the same as the House of Lords! Comfortable clean rooms with aircon and a good bath+ shower. Friendly helpful staff. Decdnt breakfast buffet and cooked options
There's little not to like. Being very picky, the historical size bedroom are a tight fit for a modern (very comfy) king size bed.
Sehr zentral gelegen
Zimmer zum Hinterhof mit Ausblick auf jede Menge Klimageräte
It's a lovely hotel, rather old fashioned but quite charming 😊
Extremely squeaky floor boards but it is an old building!!
Veldig flott og elegant hotell
Veldig lytt mellom rom og etasjer. Mye lyder gjennom natten
Impressive building Interesting and good location
Big, clean, comfortable rooms, great breakfast, friendly staff, very grand!
Lack of hanging space in the rooms and bathroom, no bedside cabinets.
Location is perfect. Staff were lovely. Room and facilities were great.

Great friendly staff. Breakfast was good. Room clean and adequate. Great location.
Bar opening times to be fully staffed.
Beautiful building. Very polite and professional staff. Great cooking. Large room with lovely towels and toiletries. Great central location
£17 charge for 24 hours parking. Understand if the hotel doesn't own the land.

I’ve stayed here regularly for at least five years visiting at least 7 times a year along with putting staff members up here.. so I know this hotel well.. Sadly I have to say it’s in huge decline.. the straw that broke the camels back was my last stay in one of their suites. The lack of attention to detail these days is astonishing given how it used to be.. a few examples from the recent stay.. Not one but three vacuum cleaners in front of the door in arrival. Two peanuts on the carpet in the room. The room was too hot for words, yet when I raise the issue to the haughty lady on reception, I’m met with a frowned look as to suggest I was somehow dreaming my discomfort and was reluctantly given a fan.. The incessant argument from the reception with me when I asked the single most common and relevant question any hotel guest will ever ask ‘could I have a copy if my bill’ This was met with ‘it was booked on Expedia, so we can’t give you a copy’ this is not only nonsense but incredibly inconvenient, it’s certainly never been a problem before, not at any other hotel.. The breakfast has shrunk in size and risen in price beyond words.. whilst sat eating breakfast, at least three people complained about ‘cold rock hard sausages’ and other things.. one slice of bacon, one awful sausage, and a few sundries for £20 is as big a joke as the car park charge which seems to rise with metronomic regularity on a monthly basis. The list of repairs that need carrying out is huge, to the point of the hotel looking quite shabby.. since setting up an office in Cheltenham I’ve spent fortunes here over the years but have become hugely disappointed with the decline of this great establishment. My not staying here any longer won’t affect their balance sheet I suspect, but if it wasn't for horse racing enthusiasts and foreign travellers I suspect it would be even more downhill. I’m genuinely sorry to write this but I can’t stay silent I will now reluctantly seek alternatives, of which there are many
Great location
1) Cost of parking is extortionate 2) Check in staff member was rude 3) Breakfast 2 out of 3 mornings was a joke ( from limited buffet fruit choice, chipped cups, wrong orders delivered twice, over thick coffee, old plates not cleared, cold & burnt toast, hot breakfast delivered while still eating cereals. , 4) Tea tray in room had not been restocked on arrival & milk was curdled
Location and breakfast
Bedroom was a bit small but no more so than other hotels.
Room 105 on first floor was ideal. It was at the rear of the hotel. Room was clean, well suited to our needs. Very quiet, no outside noise. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was of high standard.
Room was hot, air conditioning wasn't keeping it cool, however there were 2 fans in the room with did help.
Ontzettend fijn hotel. Comfortabel en goed personeel. Zelden zo’n plezierig verblijf gehad.
Hotel was in an excellent location for our purposes. The room was a good size, with an excellent sized and comfortable bed. The bathroom was very clean and well-sized. Food at breakfast was very good, with a wide choice and all well prepared. Staff were attentive, with one individual very helpful throughout our stay.
Room/bathroom were a little tired, and the in-room refreshments a little limited. Breakfast (while food very good) was rather chaotic, with several errors made with people's orders and some basics being overlooked. The in-room information booklets are also out of date with some of their content. Overall, while a nice stay, it was over-priced.
Everything was AMAZING! Staff, food, room, location. We felt like the royal couple.
Great location
Dear Lucy and John, I just wanted to say a huge thank you to you both for turning what could have been a complete disaster into such a lovely and memorable stay at The Queens Hotel. Somehow, we managed to turn up on the wrong dates for our reservation, not one of our finest moments! But from the moment we arrived, you both immediately put our minds at rest and handled the whole situation with such professionalism, kindness and good humour. You really did go above and beyond, and we honestly can’t thank you enough. Our bedroom was amazing , absolutely spotless, comfortable and beautifully presented. I’ve stayed at the hotel many times over the years, and this experience has only made me look forward to coming back even more. A massive well done to you both, and to the whole team. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, and it’s clear how much care goes into making guests feel looked after. You all deserve a huge pat on the back. Thank you again for rescuing us from our own booking blunder and making our two-day break such a lovely one. We’ll definitely be back Jeffrey and Melanie Ryan
Wonderful staff, great breakfast. Room was spacious and the bed comfortable
Room felt a bit dated and in need of a refresh, not a big deal for us though.
Everything, we had a lovely 4 night stay and it was everything we could have wanted/needed.
Absolutely nothing
Amazingly spacious room with high ceilings, a super-comfortable bed, and on-site car park. Small but perfectly equipped bathroom. Location was great as there are plenty of bars, cafes and shops within walking distance. All staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Overall, a great hotel. A 4.5 star hotel in my opinion, definitely better than most 4 star hotels I've stayed in!
The sausage served with breakfast was the only thing I was disappointed with during our entire stay.
Brilliant location
The deluxe room could be used as an ajoining room and the door to the next room was not soundproofed and therefore could easily hear everything next door. Receptionist on arrival wasn't very welcoming and felt that it was a burden we'd arrived to check in.
Lovely hotel in a great location
The Aircon was not.working effectively. We had chosen hotel as it had Aircon. That probably needs upgrading
Loved the location Loved the period features & history Enjoyed the terrace bar
EXCEPTIONAL , from amazing location , a breakfast cooked and serve to perfection and 5 star staff to match , on arrival we knew it would be stay to remember ( Jack ) is a total credit to this wonderous Cheltenham Gem ..............GLOURIOUS
环境不错,地理位置优越
有的员工素质差,有种族歧视倾向
How clean it was and how they have preserved some of the original decor. The staff at breakfast were extremely friendly and helpful. There was plenty of choice to be had and the pastry 🥐 was exceptional. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel 🏨 for its location decor & staff. Did not eat in the restaurant but I looked at the menu and it was very reasonably priced. We had a great weekend in Cheltenham & I would stay here again .
There was nothing to dislike
Good location . Handy for Cheltenham centre.
Car park charges.. bit high £17 overnight! Aircon in the room was poor considering it was when we needed it the most, hardly working. Room itself was small but clean and tidy Free water though 😄
Excellent location. Very good staff. Nice, classic ambience and generally good condition for an old hotel. Good amenities in the room - fridge, water, fresh milk, nice tea and coffee.
The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. There's only step access from the street so you have to lift large suitcases. There's only one elevator and that was very creaky. The cooked breakfast had a tiny piece of overcooked bacon. The black pudding was overcooked, dry and barely edible. We were on a schedule so didn't have time to complain.
The decoration. Very good breakfast
USB charging points in bedrooms not working. Towels one was worn through. Bathroom fan not working. Steep step up/ down into the shower.
Great location
Lack of AC
Location
No obvious access for people with mobility issues
Location character
We had an excellent breakfast. The room was clean and well decorated. The location to the centre of Cheltenham was very good.
The only thing we were not sure of was whether we could open the windows, as there were catches with a lead on them.
The location was perfect for visiting Cheltenham. Car parking.
Nothing
We love going to stay in Cheltenham, the staff and team are the queens were great, and the breakfast was great
Unfortunately the rooms that we were given were very poor indeed. Our rooms overlooked all the hotel generators so the noise throughout the day and night was very loud. Also the radiators in the bathrooms unfortunately could not be turned off, so the rooms were uncomfortably hot, so consequently we could not get to sleep given the heat from the radiators and the fact we couldn’t open the window due to the noise. Compounding this, the air conditioning was not working properly, so the rooms were unbearably hot
Beautiful hotel perfect position for us..
The room was very hot air con set at 18 but not sure it worked properly
We stayed here as a family of four on one of the hottest days of the year! The hotel was a welcome sanctuary with a cool reception area and pleasant bar to sit in while we waited for check in. The receptionist was very friendly and set us up for what was a truly memorable stay. We stayed in a junior suite which was just perfect. We loved the four poster bed and our girls (11 and12) were comfortable on the sofa bed. We enjoyed glorious views across the park with a cup of coffee and a chance to really relax. The breakfast was also very impressive with a choice of fresh fruit and pastries along with a full English breakfast that was served at the table. The hotel is located in a beautiful part of Cheltenham with bars and restaurants on the doorstep. The shops were ten minute walk away. Parking at the hotel was very handy and there were a few spaces when we arrived. Thank you for a fantastic stay, we loved it.
I booked this hotel for our wedding anniversary weekend, check in was good and our room was small but well decorated. I booked this hotel as it states in the description that the bedroom has air conditioning it did Not work and the room was very hot and uncomfortable. During our first night one of the pillow cases slipped revealing a stained pillow protector which we found quite disgusting we complained to the reception staff three times and nothing was done, housekeeping just put the same stained pillow back on the bed. I have been in touch with Herman Piers about this issue and had an initial response of compensation however I have had no further contact and the compensation has not been forthcoming. For a 4* Hotel this is unacceptable.
Great hotel and location
Beste Lage für eine Stadtbesichtigung, tolles Zimmer, tolles Frühstück. Preis-Leistung top
Parkplatz 17 Pfund
Check in was good and the location was good.
Very stained pillow protectors we complained three times and nothing was done about them. It stated that our room would have air conditioning and it did Not work so the room was extremely hot and uncomfortable. I have written to the managing director of KE Hotels but although there was initial response the offer of compensation and all further communication was not forthcoming. For a 4* Hotel this is unacceptable. Spoilt wedding anniversary.
Location, building, cleaniness.
availability of room service great location cleanliness modern bathroom complimentary toiletries , high quality
room was rather small noisy till 11:30pm as we were above the brasserie and couldn't shut window had to chase up our room service breakfast room above was very noisy - very squeaky floor boards
The room was a little hot
Location along the Promenade
Very creeky floorboards in bedroom and slow service in breakfast room.
Beautiful room, extremely comfortable bed
Nothing

Nice breakfasts, clean bathroom , water and milk in mini bar, air conditioning, comfy bed. Pillows a bit too fat and bouncy for my liking. Would have liked the option of a flatter one.
You could very much improve the comfort of the room a. Towel rails in the bathroom. I had nowhere to hang the towels. There is a rail over the toilet but I am only 5ft and couldn't reach it. You had room next to the shower for a couple of towel rails and could put a towel ring on the back of the door. b. There's very little place to put anything. You need a chest of drawers or even a wide shelf under the TV to put make up, pills, hair brush etc., otherwise it's all just jumbled on the bathroom shelf. c. It was impossible to watch to TV from the arm chair. If the TV was on an angle bracket it could be angled. Otherwise it's necessary to watch TV on the bed but I am elderly and have a bad back, so that's not easy. Also you need a cushion on the chair. I had to use a pillow because I am short. d. The table lamps are so big on the little side tables by the bed that I had to put the lamp on the floor to accommodate my clock, torch, watch, rings jewellery. pill pot, glass of water and hearing aid on the little table. You need either bigger tables or shelves or smaller lamps. e. It was hard to keep the room tidy because apart from the bathroom shelf there wasn't really anywhere to put anything down apart from the round table which had a stack of information magazines on it. I suggest a member of staff comes with a suitcase and all their effects ( I was going to a wedding so there was a lot of it.) and spends a couple of nights there, especially someone short like me, then they will see the drawbacks for themselves. All the above is a pity, the food and staff were excellent and it's a lovely hotel but i felt all cramped and untidy in the room.
It is always very clean and comfortable. The staff are extremely professional and friendly. My preferred room was allocated to me. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable, as well as quiet and wonderfully cool due to efficient AC. We had Sunday lunch outside in the courtyard - the roast beef and vegetables were perfectly cooked and well presented and as for the summer pudding - it was exceptional!!! Breakfast was very good.
The sash windows in the bedroom need urgent attention - the window frame was falling apart! Potentially dangerous! The bedrooms could do with up-dating however, the decor and furnishings are fine!
Location was perfect and the hotel more than lived up to our expectations
I slept fitfully as the occupants of the room above cause a noisy creaking sound when they moved around late at night and early in the morning.
Everything really ! Building , location, comfort , wonderful garden , great staff and very welcoming of our pooch !!!
No complaints at all
The position, the building itself, my favorite hotel in Cheltenham
Insulation you could clearly hear people walking about above us & their running water sounded as if it was in our room with us. I still love the hotel though, just pick a different room next time 😊
We had a spacious room, with extra large double bed which we like. The location in the centre was perfect. The breakfast, served in a charming room, was excellent as was the service.
Nothing. We were pleased with everything and look forward to visiting again soon.
Beautiful, historic and high status hotel. Lovely high-ceiling bedrooms, comfortable beds. Pleasant breakfast room. Friendly staff. And of course, a lovely location in the centre of town.
Air conditioning in the second bedroom didn't work, said the exceptional heat this summer had put a strain on the capacity for the whole hotel and some rooms were not working. It was stiflingly hot and a fan provided simply circulated hot air, and there were no other rooms available. Clearly they knew this when we checked in. Only after complaining did they offer a financial compensation, but we wished they'd been honest upfront. And on a separate note, also felt it was a bit cheap for such a high status hotel not to offer any vanity sets or pampering (bath robe / slippers etc) in the bathrooms.
Staff were lovely the rooms were very clean overall a very nice stay.
The dining room was a little dated and could do with freshening up.
Location fine....Room a double BUT with only ONE chair...Bath room. a little squashed...hot water tepid in hand basin getting to the car par ...painful journey with suit cases.
reception area a little dark, staff ok not overly helpful..
God frokost, med mulighet for å bestille flere alternativer som bl.a."full English breakfast".
Location great Beautiful rooms
A/c not working Not all the lights working in room
Fabulous- particularly enjoyed singer in garden area
Excellent all round.
Perhaps a more extensive choice of bar snacks, in the late evening, after theatre, concerts, etc..
Plenty of public space and a lovely garden with table service. Good size, comfortable room - beginning to age a little.
Lifts don’t give level access to all rooms - there are still half flights into the wings.
Location
Car park expensive
The bed was very comfortable.
We paid extra for the Deluxe King Room and were disappointed with our stay. We couldn’t get the air conditioning to work, the toilet had a strong unpleasant smell throughout our stay, and there was hair around the bathroom, which made the room feel dirty and not properly cleaned. Overall, it wasn’t the standard we expected, especially considering we paid extra for a deluxe room.
Great location
Shower guard didn’t seal, leaked on floor
Booked here for afternoon tea for a Hen Party last minute due to a cancellation from another venue. The staff managed to fit us in (party of 7) and were so helpful over the phone! The staff were so welcoming & made us feel really relaxed. The whole atmosphere of the dining area was lovely & the food was fantastic. The afternoon tea spread was a great selection and really nice quality. The staff members who served us were really attentive with refill tea/coffee and also took some photos of our group outside too which was great. Would definitely recommend for both a relaxed afternoon tea or a special occasion, and we will be returning in the future.
Ideale Lage; Gartenrestaurant Traditionelles Hotel
Mobiliar im Garten wirkt ideenlos . Hotelbar etwas verschlafen
Superb location and clean and helpful staffs
One of the rooms we stayed was without proper workable airconditioner and being summer it was very stuffy and hot. We got to open all the windows but was still very uncomfortable. The fan provided was too small for the room
The staff. The location and the garden are all superb. Food delicious The gold cup bar is a litte underwhelming compared to the rest of the hotel...could do with some more opulent decor
The rooms were large and so clean. The beds were comfortable, bathrooms spotless!
Breakfast was the same price whether you just had continental or hot made to order.
We have stayed at this hotel before and loved it's atmosphere and relaxed demure. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff are very helpful and friendly.
Breakfast was nice but would be nice to have more choices.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Location perfect for my needs Bed extremely comfortable
Large room but view onto carpark. Sparsely and unimaginatively furnished Breakfast poor with generic sliced bread, package cheese and sugary cereal. Staff at breakfast bit jaded even at 9 am
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel was very clean and the location is perfect.
Had to pay 17 pounds a day for car park that we didn't know beforehand but at least our car was safe.
statig. prima voorzieningen en sfeer. locatie uitstekend
airco was minder. ik had geluk dat ik in de minder hete periode er was, anders was de airco onvoldoende
Great position especially for Montpellier, rooms very comfortable ( superior one) and the right temperature, nice garden area - traditional style, without being stuffy
Separate bar area is a bit dated and was ice cold ( over air conned)
Very friendly staff. Went for my wife's birthday and they gave us a free drink at check in. Breakfast was great. Room really lovely
Good location Beautiful building
Breakfast overcooked Room tired Bathroom towels cheap No water in room Parking should be free at that price Nobody to help bringing in case
waren schon mehrmals dort. Super Lage, sehr nettes Personal, schön britisch. Stets sehr zufrieden.
