Great location and friendly welcoming staff
Nothing really
A classic Georgian building with a fascinating historical association with the Duke of Wellington. Friendly staff and good breakfast and bar facilities. Very comfortable room.
It seemed odd to have to pay extra for overnight parking.
Lovely location. Very clean. Nice rooms. Superb breakfast. Lovely staff.
Nothing.
Lovely family run hotel. Good food and drink. Very comfortable stay. I would definitely recommend.
Nothing.
Location
Good location for city centre and a good base to explore the Cotswolds
No air conditioning so was warm for sleeping, but understandable given the age of the property
Beautiful bar
Bedrooms are old and need refurbished Bathrooms are old and need refurbished No lift But I suppose you get what you pay for
Very comfortable, excellent breakfast and helpful staff.
I loved the olde Wolde charm of the building. The staff make the hotel what it is. Everyone I met were friendly and courteous and could not do enough to help you. The breakfast was delicious and set everyone up for the day.

God beliggenhed og dejlig morgenmad👌 Meget stille område.
Meget små enkeltsenge og ikke meget plads på værelset. (no.1) Men ok for 1 nat.
I’ve stayed here before. Location excellent and having onsite parking is a great bonus. Lovely room and comfy bed. Staff were lovely.
No problems at all.
Dining room bar area very nice indeed.
Bedroom carpet very tired and spoilt the room. No pillow protectors and pillow cases inside out. A mirror light in the bathroom would have been ideal to help avoid the bright light/extractor noise in the night. No food available in the evening - the restaurant was closed.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Pleasant atmosphere. Close to bus stops for C'ham Spa railway station, town centre and many places in the area. Good cooked breakfast made to order and a buffet with a wide selection of pastries, yoghurt, cereals, drinks, etc. Plenty of storage space. Very quiet neighbourhood. A sheet was provided as an alternative for the thick, hot duvet upon request. Large bed. I had a single room which was good enough, but I had a peek into some of the double rooms when they were being cleaned and they looked absolutely fantastic. I would definitely visit again.
The wash basin was a bit small and the shower a bit odd: a continuous stream of cold water with hot water injected by some sort of pump (or maybe the other way round) at intervals, so water temperature varied. Nice, strong beam though.
We liked the calm and quiet position in the town and the convenient parking. We had slightly complicated needs which the staff dealt with with understanding and efficiency. In fact, it was the caring staff who made our stay so enjoyable. Our room was amazing, with many original features and yet all modern conveniences and luxuries. We highly recommend.
Nothing
I had porridge and toast. Probably personal preference but I often find porridge out quite chunky/lacking milk. I did ask for syrup and added milk to it but both were available. I also had a drink at the bar the night I was there, it was a Monday, I was the only one there. Had a nice chat with woman behind bar, also helps run the hotel, very friendly. They allowed me to leave my suitcase while i explored on the Tuesday. Bedroom very nice, comfortable, quiet, had a bath which i was longing for after just coming back from Macmillan Hike in Northumberland. Had a teddy bear on my bed which was a nice touch :) Lovely area, loved the decor.
They forgot to put towels in my room but as soon as I asked for them they got them straight away. I did notice a large black mark on the bath, needs repair. I think the bed was 2 singles pushed together as there was a dip in the middle, it was quite noticeable.
We, liked the location, breakfast was delicious.
We weren't greeted by anyone, wondered if we were in the right place, the hotel is nice, but was like staying at my nans, clean, but dishevelled needed a freshen up. For the money we paid, I expected it to be spotless.
Lovely hotel. Friendly staff
Room a bit small. I'm not 6ft but bed was to short. Cookes Breakfast a bit skimpy, poached egg undercooked. A parking charge for parking on their property, I could understand if we weren't staying at the hotel.
The standard room is slightly smaller than I was expecting but we were easily upgraded to an executive suite which was much larger
We were hoping to eat in the restaurant but as there are restaurants close by it wasnt a problem
It was a beautiful property for our 2 night stay. Gorgeous breakfast and friendly staff.
Our room was in need of some TLC. Too many stairs to top floor.
Lovely quiet location.
Television in my room wasn’t working. Thought it was me but I had the morning staff check and it wasn’t working. Staff apologised but no compensation offered and asked for me to ring the following day to speak to the manager about it. I didn’t have the time.
Lovely room and comfortable

We were given an upgrade on arrival which was a nice surprise ☺️ We had a very comfortable and spacious room and a very pleasant stay. Breakfast was delicious. We were minutes away from the Brewery Quarter which had a great selection of restaurants
The listing states there is a swimming pool and gym on site which is very misleading. They are not in the hotel itself in fact, they are at a nearby leisure centre.
Good value last minute deal including breakfast which was very nice. Friendly staff.
Rooms not soundproof - can hear others talking. Bathroom a bit dated - shower over bath,
Everything is clean, lovely area close to town..
Nothing
The hotel was well placed for the town centre and had ample parking at the side (although there was an extra charge of £5 payable on arrival). We had a ground floor room ,which was clean and comfortable. As the weather was warm, we were pleased to have an opening window, although fans were also provided. The breakfast was cooked to order and was very good.
The restaurant was closed during our stay. The bar and lounge areas were in the basement and not particularly inviting. Although the hotel bar was advertised outside the hotel, there was no service at lunchtime and in the evening we were the only users
Pleasant location and a good room
The room was very hot and the fan provided was inefficient. There was no chef in the hotel therefore no evening meal was available
This is a lovely, family run hotel. Situated in a very pleasant area but only 5 minutes walk from the lively Brewery Quarter with all its many places to eat.
Gorgeous building and great size room
Shower had minimal water pressure and the mattresses had definitely seen better days. If you have a bad back be warned.
Great location, friendly staff and largely clean room and facilities. Lovely clean bathroom, with lovely toiletries and enormous bed. Two fans provided in the room due to the heat this summer which was great. Thick, light blocking curtains. Parking on site which is great.
Does feel a bit dated and there are a lot of patches where water has leaked through that haven’t been redecorated throughout the hotel. They put a teddy in each room, but please wash them, ours was crusty. Breakfast a bit limited, but what was served was very good.
A really comfortable and convenient hotel with a warm, friendly atmosphere. Breakfast was really tasty and the welcome was wonderful!
Nothing
Location was perfect to walk into town. Staff were very friendly and the room was lovely. Breakfast was great too.
Nothing
Prachtige grote kamer, goede ligging voor doorreis in elite buurt .
It was unfortunate that we stayed there in the heatwave and the room was very hot all night. We had a small room with very petite ensuite - it was tight to sit on the loo. The breakfast was totally unappetising and inedible apart from the mushrooms. Lack of staff presence so had to wait. But not a freshly cooked breakfast and my husband who eats anything couldn’t eat it. Check out was key drop off and payment already taken. Staff didn’t ask if all ok as would have mentioned the breakfast. As it was ‘free’ it was simply a waste of food. The location was lovely and a short walk to town centre which was why we chose it. Bonus free parking which was good. Very steep outside steps to the entrance - may have been an alternative accessible entrance but didn’t notice a sign. Not likely to stay again though.
Spacious and clean room, tasty and fresh breakfast (continental and English), 10 minute walking distance from center
Bar area not very lively (but still a good place to cool down)
Great central but quiet location. Comfortable beds. Nice staff. Good parking.
Expensive for a cramped room on top floor.
Everything
Nothing
Location was good
Property was dated and needed a small air con unit in the room. Pictures of the property looked nicer.
Good location, pleasant breakfast area
Older building with a private car park, nice traditional style rooms.
Management/staff excellent - room spacious and comfortable - downstairs bar/breakfast room very good - location handy for city centre and cricket festival - will definitely stay again
Nothing - excellent
Loved the location and service
Missing towels in the room so had to request
Great location for the town centre and lovely comfortable rooms.
WiFi was very poor in the room, no spare toilet roll so we ran out had to ask for more, not sufficient shower gel for more than 1 nights stay - not replenished, breakfast was minimal unless you ask for more. I did like the hotel but it just felt a bit like everything was being rationed.
Nice location and friendly helpful staff who gave us extra water and had left fan in the room. Excellent breakfast
The room was very warm even with the fan. Bathroom had small sink and shower splashed over floor.
Location and team
Hotel feeling well used and tired
I was given a room facing west. it was very very hot until the morning on the next day. the fan was out of order on the first night
Location and breakfast
The room was very dated and looked very tired! The extra sofa bed for a 13 year old was too small and very uncomfortable! We should have had another proper single bed and bigger room with better bathroom facilities, the shower room was too small!! It was too hot as well!!
Great hospitality. Good location. Clean and comfortable room
Friendly team. Rooms were clean and comfortable.
Had to pay an additional £5 for parking. Would prefer it in the price.
Quiet location with easy access to city.
Limited parking. Steep steps to front reception. Very small room.
The location and parking onsite was great. Overall we had a comfortable stay.
The restaurant was shut during our stay and I did think it was expensive for what it was.
Had a wonderful family weekend with my daughter and husband. We had a huge family room with 2 double beds and plenty of space for all of our stuff! The bar had a great selection of drinks, and the summer cocktails were fab. Breakfast was a selection of continental with fresh fruits, yoghurts and pastries, and cereal for my little one. We also had a great full English on both mornings we were there. The poached eggs are highly recommended! Thanks to the lovely team for a great stay, they could not be more helpful, and made us feel right at home! We will be sure to return!!
The room was clean and bed good. The shower was very good and lovely bathroom. A personal view the room was rather dark due to the wallpaper which I felt not suitable for a bedroom, but overall enjoyed our stay. The staff were great especially at breakfast always smiling and helpful so thank you. The breakfast was delicious with lots of choices.
No complaints really.
Good breakfast quickly served
Nothing,
Great location next to a park, and less than 5 minutes into town. Superb breakfast & friendly staff.
Chargeable parking. Room tired and dated.
As much as I’ve tried to look past the obvious failings of this hotel, the dirty rooms and bathrooms, the lack of aircon, the miserly toiletries, the unpleasant bar and the awful breakfasts. I just can’t do it anymore. Today’s breakfast was the final straw. Full English with soft poached eggs. I ask for soft poached eggs specifically because every other time they’ve come solid as a rock. Today the yolk was runny! Amazing. Unfortunately the whites were also runny, the sausage and hash brown was burned, and the tomato seared but uncooked. I give up. There are plenty of better alternatives for the same or less.
Relatively good location, free parking
Rooms require a serious renovation. Horrible beds. Unclean. We would not come back.
The restaurant was closed for lunch and supper during the visit but served a good breakfast. Fantastic room on the ground floor with views over the square. The visit coincided with hot weather. The fan that was provided was very much appreciated. Easy walk into Cheltenham. Good car parking provided (charge £5/night)
The location of the hotel was great, very central. I room was big enough and bathroom was good. Very clean and comfortable.
This is not the hotel fault as no air con in room, normal British temperatures would have been fine, they did though placed a fan in the room. Thank uou
Lovely building in a nice location for exploring Cheltenham Lovely staff and a fantastic breakfast.
Lack of air conditioning but it didn’t spoil our visit
The building is beautiful and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
The building is old and really did not handle the heat well during the heatwave. There is no temperature control in the room, just a small fan. The single room is very small and the shower kept switching between cold and hot for no reason and you could hear the water running down the sink opposite the shower. There was also no marks on the shower to show which way is hot and which way is cold which had me fiddling with it for a bit. The wall inside the room also had weird paint markings on it which was bizarre. Tiny details that make a huge difference! Breakfast was good, but the poached egg was a disaster. For a 4 star hotel, that is highly disappointing. The price overall was way too high for a single room with so many issues. A double maybe, but a single, definitely not. Disappointing unfortunately.
Good breakfast and comfortable bed. Good location and friendly staff.
Disappointed the restaurant was closed as we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary.
Trevlig personal
A nice clean comfortable hotel we had a small room ( the last one) but was clean and big enough with a very nice bathroom with a waterfall shower. A nice breakfast with good staff, the restaurant was not open during our stay due to the chef having some medical treatment which was a shame. A small bar downstairs. Only 5 minutes walk to the town where there were plenty of places to eat and drink and easy access to the Cotswolds. A good hotel for exploring the area. Would use again.
Car park was a little tight but we managed.
Had a lovely stay, staff were fantastic. Breakfast was really good compliments to the chef. The room and bathroom was clean, and fresh crisp linen. The location was good 5-10 walk to the town and a lovely park with two lakes close by. Good value for money.
Comfortable room, excellent breakfast and good location in central Cheltenham
Shame restaurant was closed in the evening
We had the most wonderful stay in the Wellesley Room at the Clarence Court Hotel and couldn’t recommend it more highly. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. The service throughout our stay was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and nothing was ever too much trouble. The Wellesley Room was absolutely beautiful, immaculately clean, and incredibly spacious. It was the perfect choice for our family of three, and we were delighted that our two cockapoos were made to feel just as welcome. It’s not always easy to find somewhere that combines luxury with being genuinely dog-friendly, but Clarence Court Hotel does it perfectly. The hotel’s location is ideal—just a short walk from the centre of Cheltenham, making it easy to explore the shops, restaurants, and local attractions, while still being tucked away in a peaceful, quiet setting. We loved being able to enjoy all that Cheltenham has to offer before returning to such a relaxing and tranquil hotel. The food was absolutely outstanding. Every meal was beautifully presented, full of flavour, and clearly prepared with great care. Breakfast was a real highlight and set us up perfectly for the day ahead. Everything about our stay exceeded our expectations. The combination of the stunning room, immaculate cleanliness, exceptional food, outstanding service, peaceful atmosphere, and fantastic location made for a truly memorable family break. We will definitely be returning and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Clarence Court Hotel to anyone looking for a stylish, welcoming, and dog-friendly place to stay in Cheltenham. Thank you to everyone for making our stay so special!
The Clarence Court Hotel is situated opposite a nice little park which is a bonus if you have a pet that you're travelling with as the hotel also has a pet friendly rooms ..the room itself was relatively small however the bed was really comfortable. Breakfast. ( cooked to order ) in the morning was really nice and the staff are very welcoming.
El personal es muy amable y el desayuno está muy bien
Tienen q ir pensando en poner aire acondicionado y nevera en las habitaciones
Lovely, clean, classy
No air con
The basic continental breakfast was an acceptable standard.
Pricey for what felt like a dated standard of accommodation. Very disappointed to find no air conditioning with record June temperatures. The room was small, hot and stuffy. The one tiny portable fan provided was noisy, didn’t rotate and didn’t cool the room. Ground floor rooms so not safe to open the window at night. Very little sleep. The room also wasn’t properly stocked: with reception closed until 8am, had to get dressed early in the morning to go to find someone setting up for breakfast to get the missing toiletries: a frustrating start that more attention to detail and guest care would avoid. Would be very reluctant to stay again given other more modern and stylish hotels in Cheltenham that in my view offer higher standards of guest care for and better value.
Very comfortable, nice staff good position, very clean, decent breakfast. Would recommend.
It was a good stay although use the wifi with the word "fast" in it because the other one is bad and kept failing us. Once connected to the other wifi we were able to read emails - to marry up with friends in town - and clearly listen to Radio Caroline's broadcasts at the weekend from their Ross Revenge ship off the Essex coast on their internet signal! The staff were friendly and the breakfast was fine. We managed to get a car space for an extra £5 although they did not seem to have too many so best check in early!
Room 9 was very warm when we arrived mid afternoon on a hot day. Maybe the curtains could have been left drawn?
Its location
The fact that you had to pay for the parking, when there were plenty of spaces
Lovely hotel, the staff were great and the breakfast was nice
The room was on the top floor, so was very hot, they had given us a fan but needed to be much more powerful The pillows need replacing as very lumpy The coffee for breakfast wasn’t great
Nice hotel with friendly staff. Room was comfortable and clean, breakfast was good.
We had a lovely stay at the Clarence Court Hotel and were grateful that they could accommodate an extra night when another property on our 5-day Cotswold Way trek cancelled our reservation at the last minute. The owner was exceptionally gracious and accommodating! Great room & location. Highly recommend!
Room not cleaned one day
My room was very comfortable and the bed was like sleeping on air. Also, the breakfast in the morning was amazing!
Honestly, nothing. My stay at the Clarence Court Hotel exceeded all of my expectations.
Good location
Room too small
Room. Food
Stairs. No receptionist at desk continually
Lovely hotel friendly staff. Close to town centre. We had our usual ground floor suite which is a super kingsize room, amazing shower and lovely toiletries/waffle robes. Lovely Breakfast before we left. Sad we only had one night en route to Norfolk. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a visit to Cheltenham.
Excellent location with parking only costing £5 per night. Room was very clean
Le charme de la décoration intérieure. De très bon goût. quartier agréable et calme.Chambre charmante, propre et confortable. L'ambiance raffinée.
Le prix m'a semblé quelque peu excessif.
Location, friendly welcome, good breakfast
Great location in a historic old building with large room, high ceilings and pleasing historical detail. Tasty freshly cooked full English breakfast. Friendly and helpful stfff. Nice bar.
No aircon so room was a bit stuffy. Might be a problem in a hot summer.
Had a comfortable one night stay. Slept well in a quiet room, bed and pillows were comfortable. Hotel is tired looking but spotlessly clean. Room had everything we needed, iron and kettle and teabags/ biscuits. Breakfast was very good with a good selection and the English breakfast was well presented, hot (someone said in their review it was cold- ours wasn't). Staff friendly and helpful. Close walk into town. Electric charger in hotel car park was very handy. Apart from needing a lick of paint and some new dado rails, I couldn't really fault it and am only being picky by saying this, it was really not a problem. Slept and ate well in a clean hotel which is the main thing.
The location, room, staff and breakfast.
Nothing
VERY NICE BREAKFAST, GREAT ATTENTIVE STAFF AND GOOD QUALITY FOOD. FOR AN OLDER BUILDING YOU EXPECT SMALLER ROOMS WHICH THIS WAS BUT IT WAS VERY COMFORTABLE AND CLEAN AND GOOD QUALITY BEVERAGES AND SNACKS.
NOTHING REALLY
Perfect location for town, but quiet. Parking on site. Super friendly staff, comfy bed, great hairdryer!
Nothing really, but as it is an old building noticed a bit of fraying around the edges. Nothing I couldn't handle!!
Breakfast was cooked fresh every day The restaurant menu could be tweaked to suit my 'condition' which sometimes I cannot have any sauces or herbs or spices The staff were very attentive and very friendly which is a bonus! Their staff are excellent ambassadors for the Hotel owners - they went above and beyond considering the heatwave we were experiencing!!!!!
Shower in Room 1 needs a different shower cubicle door - water from the shower every time we used it went over the bathroom floor and could potentially create a slips and falls hazard - I did report this as I had to mop up every time we used it Not happy with the charge for car parking as I believe because we booked through Booking.com we had to pay £5 per day which I did have to pay £30 on check out - please Booking, com mention this in large print?>????!!!!!! Apparently it's because we booked through you and NOT directlly through the Hotel. AND WHY DO WE HAVE TO PAY??? PLEASE REFUND THIS Dust on top of the wardrobe which is not acceptable when taking our suitcase down to pack it landed on some clean clothes which I was about to pack inside - this was reported to Hotel An extra charge of £20 for cleaning the room if you wanted it cleaned - fortunately we were there for more than 3 days so we had it cleaned ONCE free of charge I did complain about this extra charge too - I have stayed in many family run establishments and I have never ever had to pay car parking nor cleaning
Lovely hotel Great location Friendly staff Lovely breakfast
There was a loud ongoing noise very early in the morning Perhaps coming from a water tank above the bathroom? but we couldn’t sleep through it so had to get up very early after a late night
Loved the location as it was a short walk to the centre. Off street parking is provided. Breakfast was very good. The staff were friendly.
The only downside was there was no air conditioning due to the building being listed, however, a fan was provided.
Location very good.Parking available .comfortable bed.
No air conditioning and room very hot.Shower head needed attention
Nice old building but rooms could do with updating
Rooms need updating
Great welcome from reception and very helpful during the heat wave!
Fantastic brekie
all good
Location is excellent, off road parking was useful too. The bar was very cosy and staff very friendly.
Nothing, it was really pleasant
Good value and a excellent breakfast.
Uninspiring lobby area with multiple closed doors including the reception desk. This did not feel welcoming but the receptionist responded promptly to the bell/ buzzer. ( arrival time approx 5pm).
breakfast was lovely, room was great, location lovely
