Sea view room? Roof tops more like!
A tv you needed binoculars to see. I’ve got a bigger computer screen in work.
Clean and tidy and pleasant
Breakfast buffet no staff to ask about empty trays so didn’t get a full breakfast which we should expected
Lage direkt am Meer. Großer Parkplatz. Großes Zimmer.
Unfreundliche Bedienung an der Bar. Schmutziges Glas beim Nachtessen.
Large car park. Large spacious and comfortable room.
Lack of choice for evening meal on Sunday night.
Spacious comfortable room, great staff, nice food
Undrinkable coffee at breakfast
Excellent location
Coffee served in bar in morning tasted like the from previous night
Room was nice but overpriced bar staff were good lack of juices at breakfast and no one told us you pick of the menu lack of communication
We arrived for a wedding at the property for 3 30 pm and was told to get changed in the hotel toilet or the spa were it was wet and not ideal for my wife to do her hair and get dressed for the wedding there was no help trying to accommodate us not a very good advert for your hotel as ther were a lot of guests in the same position as us it was like you had our money and didn't care about anyone's feelings absolutely disgusting
Always an excellent stay here, like going to London but much better at the seaside
Couldn't fault it
One night stay. Good location for shuttle. Friendly bar staff.
Nothing
Relaxing, quiet, beautiful view of the sea and exceptional restaurant. Wonderful touch from the staff for our anniversary- two gorgeous cakes and message written in chocolate. Thank you.
Late check in.
Stunning decor, particularly the chandelier. Location perfect for beach and nearby towns. Excellent spa.
Very late check in times which ruined the first day of our stay.
Spacious room with great sea view and comfortable bed. Paul - who looked after us at breakfast - was an outstanding member of staff and a lesson to others on customer service.
1. They sent me an email several days before I arrived to inform me that they would be debiting my credit card for my first night’s stay in advance - even though I had already paid in full. 2. I booked a table for dinner in the restaurant but when I arrived the restaurant could find no trace of the booking. 3. Dirty dishes and half eaten food were left outside rooms in corridor on second floor near my room. 4. In the bar lots of dirty glasses left unattended on the bar top waiting to be washed.
Location
Little bit tired, but reasonably presented with Aircon. Small lift, no EV charging point
Our meal in The Coast restaurant was very good.
The bathroom shelf was too high above the basin and, worse, the mirror was so high that my wife (who is shorter than average) could see only the top of her hair. The shower basin didn't have a non-slip surface.
Overall a great location, opposite the beach and within walking distance to the town centre. Lovely breakfasts and enjoyable lobby bar. Room very comfortable and s good bathroom.

It’s a nice building and the rooms are well presented. The pool was appreciated. The individual staff were great.
I got a message from the hotel via booking.com offering dinner sat £37!per person..,no details of restrictions or special menus… When the bill for dinner came I queried why it was significantly more than £37 pp and was that the menu items we selected weren’t part of that offer.. I showed them the message I had received but they still insisted I pay list price. Whatever, the staff clearly don’t have discretion in such situations do I paid the whole bill. Suggest improvements need to be made in customer communications…
We haven't been here for almost 8years, we booked for our 14th anniversary and had a lovely stay, the staff are lovely. I do believe they upgraded us too which was a beautiful suprise. Thank you so much for our pleasant stay.
Everything
Very nice hotel Staff friendly perfect location
Lighting in the bar to bright no atmosphere
The singer on the Saturday was amazing! Lovely comfortable beds too
All good!
Had a Seaview room that was spacious and as an added bonus there was water in the fridge which was free of charge. Hotel is huge with lots of off street parking and lots of areas around the hotel to sit and chill out if you wished. Beautiful hotel.
Can’t check in until 4pm
Location and staff
A tad expensive
Nothing really, I fell down the slippy wooden stairs whilst wearing socks. Ruined the start of a 4 week trip as it looks like I will have to cut it short due to my injury
Having to pay extra for the absolute basic needs ie towels and bedding an extra £70 on top of the booking price.
Clean, tidy and friendly staff
the location , hotel staff were lovely , the hotel was clean .
the matress on the bed was very firm and lumpy ! the pillows were paper thin!!
Love the property
Disappointed with the room
Amazing room and hotel and location
Loved the grounds and staff was nice
I booked an executive double room to celebrate my 60th birthday the Hythe Imperial Spa and Golf Hotel came up trumps 🎊👏👏 the staff thoughtfully put me and my husband in the bridal suite and left a lovely birthday message and chocolate brownie for me in the room🎂 Much appreciated thank you❤️🎉
Nothing, it was a really relaxing time in beautiful surrounds
Lovely location right on the seafront, lovely garden area
Locatie, ook perfect voor autotrein Folkestone. Badkamer en douche zijn ruim. Prijs/kwaliteit is goed. Zwembad/sauna faciliteit is een fijn pluspunt. Ruime parkeergelegenheid. 10 minuten lopen van Hythe en supermarkt.
Geen.
Very poor management and absolutely no sense of client care. The whole experience felt cold, robotic, and completely transactional. There was no genuine effort to understand or value the client relationship. Honestly, the approach was so mechanical that it could have been handled by AI and the outcome would probably have been no different.
Lovely room, very comfortable bed. Enormous bathroom!
Location
Coming from The Falstaff Hotel this was terribly anticlimactic. Save for the view, i didnt love this hotel. Staff werent interested in our needs, check in wasnt smooth as we were accused of using the wrong card. Our daughter had accidentally booked two bookings- one with breakfast and one without and when the money was taken for the booking with the one without, they didnt even try to give the breakfast. They just offered to let us cancel one. It was more of a venue hotel with a focus on events rather than a focus on customer service.
Mooi hotel.
Accommodatie was goed. Hotel voorzieningen waren minder goed en duur.
Room was very nice, breakfast was Ok but needed to be replenished when asked.
Possibly needs to be modernised in communal areas.
Location is perfect as very close to the beach and a short walk to the high street and canal . The Sunday carvery was exceptional. Very clean throughout with cosy and comfortable rooms. Very beautiful inside and outside with lovely grounds and places to sit.
Drinks are quite expensive but not surprisingly as they are in most luxury hotels.
It was quiet
Lots of flies
I don't normally write reviews before I've even stayed somewhere, but I genuinely had to after speaking to Ellie today! I rang to sort out a booking for my family and she honestly couldn't have been more helpful. I had quite a few questions and was having a bit of a moment trying to work out the best option for all of us, and Ellie was just brilliant. Calm, friendly, funny and completely on it. She took the time to explain the different room options, the pool and gym, timings, restaurants, check-in and check-out, breakfast, and basically everything I needed to know. She then went above and beyond to work out the best option for my family and got me a really good deal too. What really stood out was that nothing felt like too much trouble. She completely got what I was trying to arrange, had a great sense of humour and made what could have been a stressful phone call ridiculously easy. By the end of it I felt completely reassured and genuinely excited about our stay. If this is the level of service before we've even arrived, (staying Jan 2027 not Aug 2026) I think we've picked the right hotel! Please make sure Ellie gets the recognition she deserves because she is an absolute credit to the team. Thank you so much, Ellie. ❤️
The room was large and the bed massive and very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and the staff in the dining area were really helpful, particularly when providing us with vegan options. Thank you. To get a cocktail we had to go to the champagne bar for some reason but once there, Fenton I think his name was, was excellent and our old fashioned delicious.
I would say given the price £284pn that I'd expect better quality products, a separate shower gel, shampoo and a conditioner. Our shower was also pretty weak. The staff member who checked us in could have been more welcoming. We also had to go to the champagne bar for a cocktail rather than the regular bar.
Birthday for my partner so got here early to enjoy pool and spa facilities all very good. Had drinks outside in the sunshine before using bar for a nice lunch. Booked a junior suite as a nice Birthday surprise. When we checked in Booked a table in the restaurant for dinner and as a lovely surprise we were upgraded to a lovely larger suite with a upgrade of a free mini bar a very nice touch thank you 😊 Had dinner which was very nice then back to the bar for night time drinks to finish the day. Had a good night sleep in the air conditioned suite then down for a very nice breakfast 😋
Need a refurbishment to justify the money and the breakfast is shocking no proper coffee and the continental breakfast is a couple of bits of meat and a baby bell in the worlds smallest fridge Id just look for a bnb if you want to stay in Hythe and eat out unless your at one of the half dozen weddings that are well loud till midnight and all you can here is the dj bass lines through the hotel if your a couple dodge this place and spend your money on something decent and complained to management and had no contact whatsoever
Fenton's Cocktails, especially the paloma
Convenient for europe tunnel, great staff
Breakfast was very bad
We got married in August and decided to stay a few extra days after our wedding to relax. I was blown away by how incredible everything was. We were getting so many compliments about the food and the venue. In particular, my best man LOVED the mini koftas (he literally wouldn't not stop talking about them) and there were many options for my friends with gluten allergies. The venue is also so stunning and also had Aircon (great in the running heatwave we've been having) All of the team was so useful and just incredible. Nothing felt like it was too small or too big. I love how attentive all of the staff were and it was so easy for us to change anything (eg when our nans started to freeze). The bartenders were so good. So so lovely! I asked a bartender to pour 28 baby Guinnesses (which is a blooming ridiculous request) but they all did it with such smiles and laughter. It really made the night! We also loved the little touches. The fact that the staff were the first to speak to us after we got married, the alone time in the champagne bar (also drinks already cold for our arrival) and the service before walking down the aisle to calm all of our nerves. Even when we had SO many leftover doughnuts from our doughnut wall, the chaps at reception were so polite/fun and I really had to persuade them to take it. Special shout outs to Georgia, Lewis, Mark, Steve, Mika, Callum, Benji, Hollie & Ella and all of the other staff at the Hythe! Even after the wedding, the service, food and staff were still incredible. I mean the breakfast is hands down the best hotel breakfast that I've ever had and the staff is some of the politest and friendly people out there. I literally couldn't fault the service at all. If anyone is planning a wedding or a stay, I couldn't recommend the Hythe imperial more.
Very friendly and helpful check-in. Generally enjoyed the comfort of our room and its beach view. Food and drink was excellent.
The WiFi signal in our room was only accessible if you stood right by the room door. The room TV sound and picture quality was poor. The evening ambience in the Coast restaurant was very gloomy due to the dull lighting. Some of the young waiting staff, whilst very kind and friendly, seemed very inexperienced. This resulted in delays. The billing process generated a number of spurious pending charges on my credit card account, which took three days to resolve. I emailed reception but they quickly lost interest and failed to provide any explanation.
I’m a repeat guest as this hotel is close to family. Rooms are modern and comfy and have A/C!
The fact you can’t check in until 4pm. Also on my last stay my “security” deposit didn’t get refunded until 6 weeks after my stay.
The location was superb.
The 4pm check in was later than I’m used to and the hotel was unwilling to accommodate even a slightly earlier checkin. The AC in the room didn’t work. The TV wasn’t a smart TV despite saying it was when you switched it on. The bedroom carpet in our deluxe room was stained and scragged. One bedroom window would not close properly.
The vibe The scenery Ambience was incredible
Nothing
The location is good, the breakfast wasn’t up to much though
Very comfortable sea view double room. very comfortable bed Excellent air conditioning Ample car parking Can't comment on the food, as we didn't eat there
Brilliant hotel
Room was spacious, clean and with very good facilities- hairdryer, iron, illy coffee machine etc. The mattress was super comfy. Lovely room. Sea view. Staff were v friendly and helpful. Great and easy parking and location. The sausages were very good at breakfast. Decor and photos near the bedrooms was stylish.
This is more something that I hope will be helpful for the future. The air con/fan was embedded into the structure of the room. It was quite noisy for sleeping, but to be fair, very effective. It may be, going forwards, this system will need looking at, especially as we have more heatwaves. Not the hotel's fault, but rather that times are changing. With breakfast, the layout could be more relaxing. The room arrangement meant getting drinks and toast were too close together, and both involved a short queue, congesting the room a bit at peak times. Another drinks machine, separate to the food area, would have made it feel less congested. Having an obvious cold water dispenser would also be good in the heat. Overall, very happy. These are just suggestions. Thanks
Facilities and food
Needs a little updating and window ledges cleaned
room also spa facilities
Breakfast was very good good quality food service by Leo was very good.
Check in was not a great experience Ella should be trained on customer service no greetings whatsoever mannerisms appalling, which let the ambulance down, all the other staff were brilliant. Hard workers.

Great location

A lovely hotel and a great place to stop before catching the Eurotunnel. Comfortable, welcoming, and ideal for a relaxing stay before continuing your journey. Highly recommended!
Lovely family hotel which has upgraded itself reallv well. Fantastic fish & chips in the bar at lunchtime. Staff polite helpful and welcoming. Restaurant food really good too.
Herzlichst Ute & Edgar
A lovely quiet room with sea view and comfortable bed. The staff are lovely and the location fantastic - just a couple of minutes to the beach. I really enjoyed walking down to the beach for a swim each morning.
Classic double with a sea view was fantastic, comfortable, very clean, huge bed plenty of pillows, two chairs a small table and a desk with a chair, there was a small fridge in the room with two complimentary bottles of water, tea and coffee making facilities and a safe to put your valuables. The air conditioning was excellent in the room. Breakfast was very good a large choice of dishes in the buffet style. The staff were very attentive and helped anyone who asked for items that were made to order. We had a very relaxing time and would rate this hotel very highly, we also took away as much wedding information as we could to pass to our Daughter who is in the process of looking at future venues for her wedding in a couple of years time.
I did comment to my wife that I was surprised not to find a list of food available for room service, it was not until I was doing some research on the hotels history that I found all the information on the hotel’s website, this could have been mentioned at the time we booked in or a card in the room advising customers to check the website for all hotel services including room service. This is not in any way a complaint but an opportunity to be even better.
Hythe Imperial Hotel – Honest Review We stayed at the Hythe Imperial Hotel for £124 per night, with breakfast not included. On arrival, the hotel certainly looks impressive from the outside, with lots of grandeur and history. However, once you enter, it does feel very old-fashioned and tired. The entrance is at the rear, which is a real shame as there is a lovely sea view at the front. The back garden area has artificial grass and a few chairs, but it feels quite tired and doesn’t really make the most of the hotel’s beautiful position. Check-in was friendly and we were upgraded, which was a lovely surprise. Our room was stunning — spacious, beautifully presented and very clean, so we were really impressed with that. We also used the spa, which includes a swimming pool, jacuzzis, steam room and sauna. We used the pool and steam room, both of which were lovely, although the spa was very busy. Unfortunately, the changing rooms let the hotel down. They looked tired, with some rust, and the showers weren’t particularly impressive. There was only shower gel provided, with no shampoo or conditioner. We had a lovely walk around Hythe and stopped for lunch at The Waterfront, which was really nice. In the evening, we drove over to Folkestone, which we found had much more going on, particularly around the beach bars and harbour area. Back at the hotel, we ordered a glass of red wine and a Baileys. The bill came to £25, which we thought was very expensive — so we only had the one! Overall, I’d say the Imperial has a fantastic location, a beautiful room and some lovely facilities, but the hotel itself is in need of some investment and modernisation. At £124 a night, we felt it was reasonable for the room and location, but the tired communal areas, spa changing rooms and expensive drinks stopped it from feeling like the grand hotel it could be.
All I can say is that I will return for a longer stay with friends and then I will truly experience it all.

My family were very excited to being staying at the hotel for a short break, it had been a while since we were last here. The restaurant manager had left and some other managerial staff, so we were looking forward to improvements. Booking System I had an issue with booking. I booked 3 nights, and 2 rooms, saw a better rate and cancelled, it was only on the day of arrival, that I discovered only 1 room had been cancelled. This needs to be clearer on the booking system. I spoke to reservations who said the charge for all 3 nights had to be paid. When I asked if it could be taken higher, I was told I could email them an email to the manager and he would look at it.He agreed to cancel the 2 nights, but I was still liable for that night at £125. On checking in, I did hear a customer being turned away as no rooms, when they could have resold my extra room, which I had to pay for. Reception The reception staff were friendly and efficient. Bar I like how the bar has been refurnished and the snug. It is a much pleasanter environment. On arrival I asked for a prosecco be told we'd run out!! I said to the barman, this was totally unacceptable at 4pm and he would need to go and find some! Which he did. We ordered chips, which took over 25 mins to come out. The addition of a band in the bar on certain nights is a great plus and a real improvement. I must also say Charlie in the bar went above and beyond and deserves recognition. Leisure Centre The pool is great and we used it each morning, I must say the changing rooms are dire and need updating. It is easy enough to get showered in your room. The rooms, were nice and the shower powerful. The staff member on pool entrance duty, was extremely friendly. Breakfast Breakfast was a joke, every time one dish on the buffet emptied, it wasn't refilled for ages, I informed the staff the bacon was empty, waited 10 minutes, got to the scrambled egg, which was then empty, told a staff member and waited 25 mints! The pastries that were out were tiny and ran out regularly. The hot water on the coffee machine, needs descaling and hardly any water was coming out. The breakfast, we once loved has so gone downhill. I think in the future, do room only and go to the lazy shack! For a luxury hotel as The Hythe Imperial, markets itself, there is still a lot of improvement needed. I look forward to this happening.
Attended my sisters funeral.
Top quality roast. Accommodated for our large group with no issues. Class service- our waiter Jacob was efficient, attentive and truly cared about our dining experience 🙏
My family and I dined here for our afternoon roast and were extremely pleased with both the meal and the service we were provided. The food was excellent but what really impressed us was the professionalism of the staff, specifically our waiter Jacob. He was polite, attentive and really cared about our experience throughout. A truly divine outing.
The food was amazing I should know I have been to the restaurant Hell’s Kitchen and this was far better. The employees were super friendly and my favorite was Jacob cave with a friendly attitude and good looks. The bed was amazing I slept for 10 hours STRAIGHT!!! The views and paintings were amazing. Would totally recommend to friends family and even strangers. 5 Stars.

Eten was goed
The hotel grandly sits slightly back from the beach top walkway, set in nice grounds with a large car park. The reception area is nicely presented and functional. Our Room,401, was nicely sized and had a window overlooking the western views and foliage. A door opened into a cosy sitting room with a 3 seat sette, 2 armchairs and a desk and chair. The room boasts a 2nd TV and the kettle. The room is dominated by a window overlooking the beach and the sea. A side window looks westward. This room was unexpected and lovely. It also featured USB sockets. The bed was comfortable and faced the main tv. A small area with a wardrobe opened onto the bathroom which was nicely arranged but featured a decent shower over a bath. The hotel has a spa and indoor swimming pool which we didn't get to see. Downstairs the bar is comfortable and offers some outside seating. The restaurant has a decent menu and has good reviews although we didn't eat there. Breakfast is served in the restaurant and features a fairly good high quality buffet. The machine coffee is drinkable but not great. Whilst not cheap, our room with its sitting room was very nice and not unreasonably priced. I could very happily spend a week beside the seaside here.
I booked afternoon tea for my mum’s 91st birthday, and from start to finish, our experience was absolutely wonderful. It was such a special occasion for us, and the team went above and beyond to make sure my mum had a birthday afternoon she would remember. I booked the table over the telephone, and Mia couldn’t have been more helpful, friendly and polite — even when I rang back to change the number of guests! When we arrived, Mika showed us to our table, but as it was such a beautiful day, my mum asked if we could sit outside instead. Mika was incredibly accommodating and arranged this for us without any fuss. The cream tea itself was delicious. The scones were, without a doubt, the best we have ever tasted, the sandwiches were lovely and the sweet treats (especially the lemon posset) were absolutely gorgeous! Everything was beautifully presented and clearly made with care. What made the afternoon even more special was the wonderful service. The hotel was incredibly busy with a wedding taking place, but Nyah, Ava and Will still made time for us and looked after us so attentively. Despite how busy they were, we never felt overlooked or rushed. They were so kind and thoughtful and made a real effort to make my mum feel special on her birthday. It meant so much to see my mum enjoying herself, and the kindness of the whole team helped make the afternoon even more memorable for us. A huge thank you to Mia, Mika, Nyah, Ava and Will for making such an important birthday so lovely. Wonderful food, fantastic service and genuinely caring staff — we couldn’t have asked for a better afternoon. We will definitely be back! ❤️
Good location, good spacious rooms and very clean. Lovely staff!
Menu was very limited especially if your veggie..
Excellent all round
De kamer was comfortabel
Het restaurant is heel sfeerloos. Ontbijt was redelijk maar niet top. Keuze was beperkt.
Good hotel Exceptional food
Gave us a free upgrade, rooms were lovely, staff friendly, food excellent and location even better
Jacuzzi wasn’t working during our stay
Ret slidt hotel - total overvurderet.
The location was good
The spa facilities were disappointing. No outside area on a nice day to relax so didn’t end up using the pool
Beautiful building and location
The room was very big and nice but the tv for the size of the room As tiny
Great location, nice pool.
My room was MUCH smaller than my friend’s, though I was staying 4 nights and she only 2 nights
Superbe hôtel, tout confort, très propre
The staff, food and location was excellent
Didn't have any dislikes as was only there for two nights, nothing to complain about generally enjoyed the stay
Lovely hotel ideally situated on the sea front. Sea view rooms comfortable and spacious. Bathrooms clean with a nice big shower Big negative is the price of drinks … hugely expensive
Great sea front position
Drinks very expensive
