Amazing stay at Taj Malabar. The rooms, ambiance, staff, food all exceptional!
Everything was fabulous. We really enjoyed our stay. The staff was courteous and efficient. On the whole we really, really had a wonderful time.
Breakfast was great. The facilities to reach out to the location has been difficult.
Fantastic hotel, great history, incredible decor and amazing value for money - a MUST visit

The layout of the property , landscape, location on the sea , infinity pool, superior level of hospitality .rooms well appointed.
Locations
Near port
The hotel has really good spa facilities ( sauna, jacuzzi and steam room) and a really picturesque pool with a view ! The rooms were very comfortable and beautiful too! The whole property looks even better in the night!
Food prices were on the higher side
Location, excellent service. Nice food

A vintage vibe property, perfect for relaxing
The fan in the room was slow , need to be changed
Freundliches Personal, stets hilfsbereit bei allen Anliegen! Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen.
Die Fenster ließen sich nicht öffnen in unserem Zimmer.
Taj hospitality
With a distant location, there could have been some activities for families, apart from the spa. The spa too could have had more options for the services offered, considering that we were in kerala
Good service
None
Excellent breakfast and friendly staff. A bit isolated from the main hubs.
Overpriced dining menu and having to pay tolls to get in each time when you need to drive in and out of property
Service and staff especially Ms Elizabeth was welcoming and helpful
The food spread and taste
Breakfast had a good spread of Indian and continental options. The service was warm and attentive, and the overall experience felt comfortable and premium. Dinner at the property was also enjoyable, with a pleasant ambience and good hospitality. Taj Malabar, Kochi offers a beautiful and memorable stay, especially because of its stunning waterfront location on Willingdon Island. The property has a calm, old-world charm with lovely views of the harbour, making it a perfect place to relax while still being close to Kochi’s main attractions.
Cultural touch and taj hospitality
Value for money in not worth it rooms were kind of small for this amount
Had a wonderful stay in the Signature Suite at the Taj! Enjoyed the view of the island from the balcony and the luxe feel of the room and property. The staff at the Taj Malabar are truly so hospitable, warm, and attentive! Huge shoutout to the Guest Relations Manager, Elizabeth, for going above and beyond to make my mother's milestone birthday celebration a memorable one! Really enjoyed the sunset cruise, and it was so nice to hear many interesting details of Cochin's history from Elizabeth. The music played by the flute artist on board, Prasad, was a wonderful and soothing touch to the ride as well. Special mention of Ahilan from the Rice Boat restaurant, for all his food recommendations! They were spot on! The Taste of Kerala, 4-course seafood meal at the RIce Boat, is simply delicious, especially the squid and sea bass preparations! Another fantastic food item was the chocolate truffle cake. Lipsmacking good!! Many thanks to Alex and Suriya, as well, for their jovial and warm hospitality at the equally delightful Pepper restaurant. On behalf of my mother and sister, thank you, Taj Malabar, and we look forward to revisiting in the near future!

Small Rooms, still higher prices.
Great Location, beautiful view, staff are excellent.
Couldn’t find the cost of what’s all included in the small bar items in each room. Charged me four figures for a packet of chips and a bottle of cashew.
Location , picturesque, heritage
Superior charm of a world nearly gone
I couldn’t afford to stay longer
The staff were absolutely amazing and the hotel is stunning. The breakfast buffet had a huge variety of food.
All staff was phantastic and very helpful with disabled company (wheelchair). Also with booking all extras and early check-in - all went smooth. Food and drinks great. Special thanks to our driver who was just great. I recommend the sundowner tour
Area around Hotel is not beautiful for pleasure walks, but o.k.
Staff are wonderful. The whole experience was seamless. Highly recommend.
Everything
It was all wonderful
Wonderful location on the water's edge, with lovely views towards both old and 'new' Cochi. Excellent staff, especially guest services manager.
The property is beautiful, with very polite and helpful staff. The room was excellent, very clean, and had a comfortable bed. Even though we had a basic room, the view was good. The garden is the highlight. It is expansive and located right next to the water, with beautiful gazebos and a lovely poolside restaurant. The infinity pool is absolutely stunning.
The curtains were not blackout, and the service was somewhat inattentive. I had requested towels, but they were forgotten, and I had to call again while in the middle of my shower. This is not what one would expect from Taj Hotels. The overall upkeep of the property did not meet Taj standards. The grass appeared untrimmed, and maintenance felt lacking. Poolside service was also inattentive, with no staff available to take a drink order.
Loved the stay. Staff, service and food at Rice bowl were exceptional. The spa was also extremely good amd relaxing. Standards on the whole was amazing and what we expected from a Taj resort.
My wife and I stayed at many hotels but this is the best - beautifully located by the sea, very nice rooms, -and excellent staff. Rooms were impeccably cleaned twice per day, the food served in the two restaurants was of great quality and taste, but most important the people, the staff, made this an excellent stay for us. We would like to especially commend Elizabeth George Mokken (the Guest Relations Manager) and Kanwaljeet Singh (the Duty Manager) for making our stay very memorable - from arranging the tours, to accommodating our last minute changes to the itinerary, for taking such excellent care of us and making us feel welcomed all the time. Elizabeth also was excellent in providing us the history of the hotel, and Cochin during when we checked in, as well as during the sunset cruise. Thank you for an excellent stay.
Super fijn hotel, heel vriendelijk personeel.
This is a beautiful heritage property in Cochin. great food, wonderful hospitality, view of the ocean, this property has everything that makes the vacation memorable. Would highly recommend the sunset view cruise. You get to know more about the island, and soak in the beautiful view of the sea and of course learn more about Cochin. Special thanks to Abhinash at the restaurant, Akash at front desk and there was one more person who helped with our luggage whose name i don't remember. And of course. Elizabeth for being a wonderful guide for the cruise.
Amazing would recommend it✨Try the restaurant rice boat and a must do is the sunset cruise
Excellent historical property. Amazing staff with outstanding hospitality. Presents a total experience of Kerala heritage and traditions. Highly recommend for a memorable experience
We came for a trip to Kerela, and Kochi was the last leg of our trip. I am glad we chose Taj Malabar, we had exceptional experience at each step from arrival to checkout. Every person that we met was very professional, courteous, and greeted with a smile. Everything we experienced was 10 out of 10. I do want you to recognize the restaurant manager/Chef at Pepper. We had to catch out flight at 10am, so had to leave hotel by 7:30am. As the restaurant opens at 7:30 for breakfast, we would have missed our breakfast that day. When speaking with him over breakfast, we mentioned it to him, and he told us that most of the restaurant will be ready at 7 and made sure that his staff was aware of our early time. In addition, I do have a suggestion for the buffet at Pepper. It costs one price for everone. I believe there needs to be a different price for vegetarian people.
Everything was superb
Such a beautiful property at a stone throw from all the best attractions at Kochi. Team is obsessed to serve and make it special for each guest. Truly reflects atithi devo bhavah. Really recommend for families. Do take their speed boat transfers as its super convenient to visit Fort Kochi.
We had a great time spending at Taj Malabar for three nights. As usual this is my the best and favourite place to stay. After renovation everything looks so good and class. The staffs are so adorable and helpful. I need to mention the Chef was so gracious to make all different types of dishes we wanted and its was all delicious. Front office manager Elizabath was so friendly and always make sure our comfort to the highest level. Especially the boat ride and her detailed explanation regarding the historical land marks and places was so informative. Special appreciation for Front office Cinderella also. Alex was so good in serving and making us feel so comfortable. Special Thanks to Mr Lalith for all the support and timely assistance given to us.
Great accommodation, service and food. It was a very good staycation.
The overall hotel, the main buffet both for breakfast and dinner, the location.
The price of the meals at the Al la Carte Restaurant
Very wonderful time! The service was the best.
I keep coming back to this property since so many years now . My family loves the place too and its a step above any 5 star property in kochin . Its about the intangibles really , the warmth of the staff , the serenity of the backwaters and the kind of crowd that comes to the hotel . Always feels like our home away from home to us .
There is a huge markup on the room tariffs now
Amazing property and amazing staff
Our stay at this hotel was absolutely incredible. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and taken care of. Everyone was extremely accommodating, kind, and easy to work with, which made our honeymoon feel truly special. Elizabeth was especially wonderful. She gave us a fantastic tour on the boat and helped us book excursions we wanted to do, making the entire process seamless and enjoyable. Her attention to detail and customer service really stood out and made our experience even more memorable. Overall, the service and hospitality made our honeymoon stay amazing. We are so grateful to the entire team for creating such a memorable experience and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a truly special stay.
To be honest, this was one of the best stays we have ever had at a Taj property. Our experience at Taj Malabar Kochi was absolutely wonderful, even though it was just for a day. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm smiles and genuine hospitality that Taj is known for. The location of the hotel itself is breathtaking, with beautiful views that instantly create a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The service throughout our stay was exceptional. Every member of the staff we interacted with was soft-spoken, humble, and extremely courteous. They were always ready to assist with a smile and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. The food was simply amazing. Each dish was prepared with great care and tasted delicious. The dining experience truly reflected the high standards that Taj hotels are known for. What made the stay even more special was the attention to detail and the way the staff ensured that every small need was taken care of. Their professionalism combined with genuine warmth made us feel truly valued as guests. Overall, Taj hospitality was at its absolute best here. It is hard to beat the experience offered at Taj Malabar Kochi. Even though our stay was short, it was memorable and left us with a wonderful impression. We would definitely love to return again in the future.
We visited during Ramadan and were fasting. Everyone took such special care of our fasting timings. Staff worked at odd hours to feed us . Big thank you to everyone working in the hotel. You guys are amazing. The property is breathtakingly beautiful. Definitely one of the best hotels in India.
Located on the tip of Willingdon Island, this spa resort offers relaxation plus views to the constant port traffic and activities. With most rooms you get a view of container ships, metro water taxis, fishing boats and sailing boats. It's a daily evolving and changing picture. There's also a lovely swimming pool, but you need to rise early (7.30ish) to get your towels down and reserve, although people move on from lunchtime. The rooms are clean, well fitted, with adjustable aircon and a very comfortable bed. Laundry service excellent and extra towels or snacks (some chargeable) on request. All the staff were terrific. The manager of our section in the breakfast area (didn't get his name) was great since he highlighted the delights of the special menu which chefs cooked to order (no extra charge). I ate the recommended masala utthapam every day! The buffet selection was terrific and very extensive. Guest services were very helpful - especially Elizabeth who was always attentive and happy to help. All the staff throughout the hotel couldn't be faulted. It should be noted that both Brunton Boatyard (visited for dinner) and Forte Kochi (visited for tea and snacks) have a great location, but recent reviews indicated that there were issues with noise early in the morning from port activity. We enjoyed our visit to both, and their locality gave a nice 'Old town" vibes. Modern hotels have good sound proofing so I would happy to stay at either. Certainly recommend the high tea and harbour cruise experience (chargeable) early in your visit to get a better understanding of the locality. Elizabeth was our cruise guide and as we passed the "old town" she informed everyone about a festival in the old quarter, which we really enjoyed visiting. Finally, we didn't have time to enjoy the Spa facilities, and we would recommend staying a minimum 4 nights.
We had an amazing time celebrating our 25th anniversary at the very elegant and exquisite Taj Malabar. We enjoyed traditional dance performances and a beautiful lamp lighting ceremony. The Location right on the harbour is beautiful and we enjoyed a very informative and beautiful sunset cruise. The staff were all superb, but a special thanks to Elizabeth from Guest Relations, who was our go to throughout our 2 day stay. She helped us with lots of tips and suggestions re shopping, sight seeing and where to go for a hair cut! She absolutely delivered on the sunset cruise too! We enjoyed an incredible seafood feast at the Dolphin restaurant, and Alex made sure we had a memorable night. Yoga with Sree was another highlight. Would definitely recommend you wake up and join him share his yoga wisdom! Can't wait to go back, thanks to everyone at Taj Malabar!
The Taj Malabar is an excellent hotel. It’s situated in an industrial area, but the hotel itself is very nice, as are the grounds. We very much enjoyed our stay at the Taj Malabar.
We had a very good stay at Taj Malabar. The location is amazing. Sunset cruise was one of the highlights of the stay. Definately recommend staying here.
I have had one of the best experiences during my stay at Taj Malabar. The staff is simply awesome. The food is superb. The service is excellent. The guest care is beyond expectations! A special shoutout to Cindrella...the lady who take really good care of me! Always smiling, always helpful, super friendly :-) I would like to thank Lalith Viswakumar for his support and understanding. His team is doing a commendable job of taking care of guests :-) Stay that way always all of you :-) Good luck and lots of blessings :-)
No matter how great a tour experience is you need to end it on a relaxing high. The Taj Malabar will meet your every desire and provide extra cultural experiences without the need to board another bus!
For several years now, I have made it a personal tradition to celebrate my son’s birthday at a different Taj property each year. Taj Bekal, Taj Wayanad, Taj Cidade de Goa Heritage, and others have consistently delivered what the Taj brand promises — warmth, anticipation of guest needs, and understated yet thoughtful celebration gestures that make family milestones truly memorable. Regrettably, Taj Malabar fell far short of that legacy. Prior to arrival, the team had specifically asked the occasion for our visit. When informed it was my son’s birthday, we naturally assumed the usual Taj attention to detail would follow. Unfortunately, nothing had been arranged. No décor. No gesture. No acknowledgment beyond the check-in formality. Room allocation was delayed, and the room eventually assigned had an AC leakage issue. It was neither celebration-ready nor in the condition one expects from a property of this stature. What was most surprising was not the absence of extravagance — but the absence of thoughtfulness. At other Taj properties, even subtle touches — a simple décor accent, a small cake, a warm note, sometimes even a courteous upgrade — reflect brand consistency. At Taj Malabar, there was none of this. We were informed that High Tea, which is often a complimentary offering across Taj properties, was chargeable here unless bundled with a cruise package priced at ₹1500. Given that we had already spent two days on a houseboat, this felt unnecessarily rigid. We were also told that had we stayed two nights, it would have been complimentary — an explanation that felt transactional rather than hospitable. When we requested a small table anywhere within the property to decorate ourselves for a brief family celebration, the request was declined. This was particularly disappointing — not because of denial, but because of the complete absence of flexibility. At Dolphins Point, we were informed the restaurant was fully booked and were advised we could celebrate after 10 PM. For a child’s birthday, that suggestion was impractical. Interestingly, around 9 PM the restaurant appeared far from full. At Pepper, I ordered a cocktail that arrived filled predominantly with ice. When I requested the ice to be reduced, the remaining liquid barely occupied 40% of the glass. Upon requesting it be adjusted appropriately — considering the full price being charged — I was informed that any increase would require additional payment. I chose to decline the drink entirely. It was not about the beverage; it was about principle and basic fairness. Even small courtesies were absent — no wet towels or wipes post-meal, no proactive check-ins, no departure gesture. On previous stays at Taj Bekal, Taj Wayanad, and Taj Cidade de Goa Heritage, the teams thoughtfully packed small snacks for our child for the journey ahead — an understated but deeply appreciated gesture. At Taj Malabar, we left without even an offer of water. It was evident that the property was heavily occupied with high-profile events (Global Leaders Summit) and visiting dignitaries (Southern Naval Commander and officers) . While such engagements are understandable, they should never create a visible hierarchy among guests. The Taj legacy has always rested on treating every guest with equal grace — not on selective attentiveness. To be fair, the staff themselves appeared overextended. The associate who checked us in was still present at checkout, visibly fatigued. The concern therefore appears less about individual effort and more about operational priorities and management planning. This stay did not merely fall short — it felt fundamentally misaligned with what the Taj brand represents. Celebrations require foresight, flexibility, and warmth. Instead, we encountered policy rigidity, commercial packaging, and an unmistakable sense of being secondary. Taj Malabar carries heritage in name and location. It now needs to restore the hospitality that gives that heritage meaning. As a long-standing patron of the Taj brand, this experience was not only disappointing — it was unexpected. If you plan to celebrate something special, I strongly suggest choosing Taj Bekal / Taj Wayanad / Taj Cidade de Goa Heritage instead — properties that truly understand hospitality. - Gaurav
Taj Malabar has a very ecclectic team of highly motivated staff, kudos to the leadership !. They reinvent experiences, and we were most impressed how they are promoting and nurturing Indian culture and arts, particularly for the international guests by creating simple but most memorable experiences. I want to make a special meention - Elizabeth and Cindarella both Guest Relations Managers are absolutely amazing, they are natural at their job as wonderful hosts, and extremely talented, resourceful and graceful... they make you feel so welcome and cared for. Trully pillars of the front office, as also all the staff are so very motivated that speaks volumes of the leadership. Keep it going, you are excelling in spreading Tataness and very proud of you....
good location, friendly staff. they need to increase the table size which is too small abd add specific kerala cuisine in the food - like appam, puttu etc., which was missing
Beautiful location..Great hospitality..
Our three-night stay at Taj Malabar was truly exceptional. From the warm welcome at the entrance to the well-appointed rooms and top-tier dining, every detail impressed. The surreal view of the Cochin Harbour, the Arabian Sea and the sunset all adds up to a wonderful experience. Will surely return with family for the experience.
The location at Dolphin's point is wonderful - both mesmerizing due to all of the activity on the waters around us, and relaxing and tranquil at the same time, due to the great landscaping design, services, and gracious staff. The outdoor BBQ dinner on the Dolphin's Point terrace was a particular highlight of our trip! While the room felt a bit cramped (we were in 708) vs more modern buildings, I understand it is due to limitations of the physical building, so it was not a real negative. The service was, as I expect in all Taj properties, exceptional. Special shout-out to Elizabeth, who made us feel very welcome and did a great job with narrating the sunset cruise.
