Room wasn't bad
Not enough staff
Good location and love the history in the building. Comfortable bed and a great powerful shower.
The first room 131 smelt so bad and had a fab running but the staff were helpful and moved our room which was much better.
Size of the room and location
Nothing
My room was a really good size I was able to take my mobility scooter in and charge up with ease. The staff were very friendly and polite.I didnt eat in because of food issues i have. The location was ideal.I parked my car in the car park and used my mobility scooter for the remainder of my stay.
My room was clean and tidy but did find a few hairs in the bathroom. There was no toilet brush in bathroom just in case toilet needed cleaning.
Great handy location
All good
Didn't have breakfast location perfect
Cleanliness dust in bathroom ledges..paintwork on window ledges needs redoing mould in corners of bath
Perfect
entertainment finishes too early and fewer seats in lounge
Like every thing the room was just right very helpful plenty room for parking car ..close to the shops pubs definitely stay again
They wasn't anything i didn't like

Parking on site for a small fee
Excellent location. Lovely staff great value for money.
Reception staff were lovely. The motel would have been very grand in days gone by but unfortunately is now a little sad. Our room had a sealed off door leading to another room through which we could hear guests on the other side as though we were in the same room. Our bathroom door didn't shut properly and my husband actually got locked in - luckily I was able to use some muscle to force the door open from the other side! The bed was comfortable and the shower hot.
Guests standing just outside of the front entrance smoking - unpleasant to walk through.

Great location cheap and cheerful a little dated
A little dated
very pleasant staff helpful
decor abit dated
The location
The room was like a dungeon no window to look out window wouldn’t open really dull to the point we left after one day instead of 2
The lady who was polishing the brass stair rails when we were leaving was lovely.
One of the ladies at check in was not very welcoming.
Friendly staff, breakfast was lovely and not limited as it was buffet style. Hotel location is good and has a large carpark.
Having to leave!
Hotel location is perfect Breakfast was excellent
I couldn't sort the temperature of the shower leaving it unusable There seemed an excess of cars compared to parking spaces available even after having paid up front for 2 nights
All the staff were brilliant , the night concierge (Christopher) was absolutely brilliant went above and beyond to make our stay , and has exceptional knowledge of you hotel , and gave us a brilliant tour and history lesson, we stayed in room ,302 which most comfortable and a surprise sea view , we will be back again and hopefully get the same room. Location was brilliant and above our expectations. The front revolving door was magical.in the words of anie , ill
Nothing , everything was great.
Was in a handy part location of southport only 10 to 12 mins walk to beach area, next to town shops only 2 mins away, good facilities in room.
Location
Limited parking had to park elsewhere
Situated on Lord Street, onsite parking, spacious room, decent sized tv
The receptionist was unwelcoming, bed uncomfortable as support had gone on one side, couldn’t connect to tv, no fridge.
Very central, lovely breakfast buffet style.
Room in need of a lick of paint and upgrade, didn't spoil the weekend , it's an old building which is a little tired in places. Bathroom had been upgraded very nice and big.
The location was great, rooms were very clean and spacious.
Rooms could do with updating and fresh paint.
Food was good . Bar was ok , reception was good
Room needs a total refit , bathroom was bad ,
The location. The pleasant staff
The middle of the main course at dinner was from day before left overs or frozen veg.
The location and breakfast were both excellent.
The room was tired, uncomfortable and noisy.
WE HAD A NICE BREAK IN SOUTHPORT AND THE HOTEL WAS WAS A NICE STAY
I DONT THINK ANYTHING
We like the price and location
Nothing we didnt like
We had an upgrade .the room was so nice and comfortable just abit of cleaning round sink taps paint on bathroom door .
Staff breakfast comfy bed
It is a Grand hotel with lovely food. We slept very well here and would definatly come back 🙂
It is need of a few serious repairs but it expected with the size of the place.
Central location
Tired, dated room. Damp around the windows. Very dated, patched up bathroom.Stained bedding
First of booked a family room with double bed and single beds got there it was 3 single beds so changed room to a room where the tv was falling of the wall and some sort of load buzzing right out side the window whitch was so load you would not of got to sleep then to be put in a room with a very small bed so we didn't get much sleep
The hotel room was beautiful and the hotel is stunning. We would recommend and another stay is already in mind. I especially loved the historic features beautifully maintained.
The history especially the way that the original features are kept.
Exceptional quality and very clean
There was nothing I didn't like about the hotel
Breakfast good, the room was fine.
No breakfast location very good
The pillows uncomfortable
The staff were friendly and professional. The rooms themselves were very clean. The beds were comfortable. The location is central and very convenient.
When booking it would be helpful to let the guest know that they would be booking basement rooms. We didn't know this would be our accommodation until we arrived. Having as our view the tires of the cars parked by our window was less than pleasant. Also the check out of 10am on a bank holiday Monday is too early, particularly as there was a loud event going on at the hotel that didn't finish until just after midnight.
It was in a nice location
The room we stayed in had no windows in the bedroom or bathroom so it was really uncomfortable and claustrophobic
Didn't have breakfast though I belive it has a great choice. Had an evening meal. Three courses though you could have as much as you like. Good choice. Catered for special diets. All staff approachable and friendly.
It was great.
Didn't have breakfast, the location is great very close to all of the towns attractions.
I think the mattress was very poor quality and having two single beds pushed together tends to create a gap in the middle which is impossible to avoid.
We enjoyed our 1 nite stay , the room 322 was spacious & clean , also it had a walk in shower
Nothing , we have stayed here before
De buitenkant
Outdated, vieze geur
Pleasant staff good location
Breakfast was lukewarm. I would suggest a microwave would be helpful.
Town centre
Room was downstairs so looking at a brick wall through the window Beds uncomfortable Extractor fan in bathroom noisy Had to wait for eggs then bacon at breakfast so we didn’t all eat together
The building itself.

Location perfect ! Grand building , very friendly staff
Not enough bar staff considering there was a event on ! however bar staff that did work were excellent thankyou , but definitely need to replace very thin pillows.
My room was spacious as was the bathroom, bedding was of good quality and everything was very clean. Breakfast was pleantiful and replenished regularly. There are still signs of the hotels grand past which I like. A little more fruit at breakfast would be nice but, what's on offer is really good value and more fruit would I imagine increase the price. The evening meal was basic but for £15 again offered really good value
I found it odd that there were no bedside tables and some of the paintwork was in need of a touch up. It would be nice to be able to see some of the grand function rooms that are kept locked.
Great location
The room had boarded up windows, so no windows, poor circulation. It was very hot and stuffy in the room, therefore we didn’t sleep well.
Great location, good breakfast too
Paper thin walls between adjacent rooms so guest talking and tv were very annoying.
At an event at the hotel, easy stay.
The hotel is dated but was clean and comfortable. The breakfast wasnt good, not sure what the sausages were cooked in.. tasted odd and could smell the food on my clothes all day.
Great location
Towels should be changed every day. Only one set of towels provided for a twin room for a two night stay.
Lively hotel . Breakfast was lovely. Nice and clean and in a good location
Just a bit warm in the rooms as the towel rail is on constant everything else is great
Great location, staff were lovely. Breakfast was good too. Great value for money.
A bit dated and bed was very firm.
The room was gorgeous
My room was very clean and spacious

Nothing really to not like.
The location
The room we was in M5!! Felt like we was in a coffin. No windows. Air con didnt work. It was stifling. Couldn’t wait to get out of there. Itched all night felt lousy
Location
A noisy function on last night
The ballroom
The bedrooms
My partner has a conditional where she has to take a sleep as she gets exhausted. We narrowly missed lunch by 5 minutes the restaurant was shut we had paid for our food when we booked the room I asked the receptionist can we get a refund for our food we missed and she said she was not allowed to give us a refund but told us to speak to the complaints department which I will be doing the next day.
Very cheeky wooden floors in the room every step you took There was only one bath and hand towel for two people when we went into the bathroom I managed to get more towels from the receptionist on the desk
Adequate
The hotel
The car park T
Very nice indeed
No glasses or water in the bedroom
Food was the worst I've ever had. No air conditioning. Some rooms need ventilation as it was too warm and stuffy. Beds too firm. Didn't feel like there was a mattress. Need a fridge for milk etc to enable to make a cup of tea.
The food was the worst I've ever had. On paper looked great..the room was very stuffy and no ventilation. Bathroom floors very slippy. The bathroom door didn't open and close because it was getting stuck to the floor. Some furniture was looking worn and damaged. Not all lights worked.beds need a mattress as they were firm.like sleeping on a board.
Location, leisure and room
The hotel
Not eneogh staff on at bar when events are on also stuck on 1st floor with wheelchair as only one lift constantly full on departure day
It was amazing my daughter ready enjoy herself, and the stuff we're very welcome and helpful We can not wait to stay there at xmas time
I loved the staff really friendly and comfy bed room
The breakfast wasn't great it made me and my partner stomach feel a bit like crap, am not blaming the chef i think its down to standards of food product but overall lovely staff all round.
Everything we love
Hotel was a perfect place to stay in Southport, it was our first ever visit and not our last
The hotel has a old fashioned feel, at times it felt like being on a old cruise ship, the staircase and swing doors and architecture where amazing how ever. It was a lovely stay
Everything
Nothing
We like staying at the prince of wales and with it being our wedding anniversary we booked a suite for a bit of luxury and ended up disappointed
We didnt like the room we stayed in the mounbatten room when we walked in we didnt get the extra bit of luxury we was waiting for the furniture didnt match we had a single grey chair with one side table and the other side table had a fridge on top of it the dressing table in the front room would. Have been better in the bedroom and a sideboard putting in its place imstead the coffee machine which was an old tassimo was not working it was leaving most of contents in the pod. In the bedroom we had no bedside tables to put a drink on during the night the two drawer units one was under the tv and the other near the door the carpet was coming up near the door. The bathroom was grey and white and then you had this chocolate brown monstrosity in the corner which would have been better tiled in two different tones of grey. I never complain about the prince of wales but the room didnt match and nothing had really been thought out properly to say it had just been upgraded in future think we will stick to the cheaper rooms better thought out and just as nice in fact they are nicer than the more expensive rooms
Location was great Cleanliness top marks Staff very pleasant Barmaid on duty on wednesday 25th August was most helpful to all her customers. 👍🏻 Well done to her
No alcohol free available the first night and only one beer the second night I think these days there should be a good choice of alcohol free beers and spirits A small fridge in the rooms would be good as well
We love the Victorian features in this hotel
Nothing all excellent.
breakfast was good room was clean as expected location was spot on to get any where in Southport
Location value for money
Uncomfortable mattress
Nice rooms and building, staff were friendly
Very disappointed by the online check-in. The messages sent via booking.com pushing you to use the online check-in feel overly aggressive and provides misleading information - the online check-in states check-in time is 4 pm, so I paid for early check-in to accommodate a 3 pm arrival time. However, when I arrived at the hotel I found out check-in time was actually 3 pm. Therefore, I was misled into paying extra for nothing. In addition, check-out time is variably stated as 10 pm or 11 pm. This type of miscommunication is enough to make me rethink staying again. Also WiFi is very slow.
On site parking, friendly and helpful staff, the hotel has character and old world charm. It's a cheap place to stay and very central so near to restaurants etc. It's used a lot for coach parties, drinks are reasonably priced and there was a singer on in the evening.
The cups in the room weren't very clean but the bedroom itself was fine. Also the bathroom shelves needed cleaning better, and the shower knob needed fixing, it looked as if the cleaning had been done in a rush.
Clean room. Nice and quiet (G1). Very clean bathroom - even had a bath and shower. Exceptional staff especially reception Great value for money incl the check in price of meals. Fabulous outdoor area at the front of hotel. Location A1 for access to Southport facilities of beach ,shops, walks, railway etc Normally stay Travelodge but this will be my destination of choice in future. A very pleasant, relaxing stay in a great location. The interior was stunning with revolving doors etc and an awesome ball room I viewed. Thankyou for a great stay.
Nothing to not like really As with all UK hotels could do with refreshing but not a defect to my stay apart from pillows a little hard
Location & parking
Room with no proper wall..could hear everything said & done in next room🙉 Breakfast there was enough but 2 staff wasnt enough to stock, clear & keep everything running
Everything
Food.

The smell when u got outv the lift the room was Dark and cold
2nd visit this year, this one an extended 5 to 7 days. I like the old world (Vic/Edwardian I think) building, the superb location, on-site parking, though I use the train - the station is a short walk from the hotel. Using the train daily, early till late, I use the restaurant only a couple of times. The menu is fixed buffet style, no fuss, dinner 5 till 7, but perfectly adequate, but a little early perhaps. Main clientele seems to be coach tours. A very reasonable value for money hotel in the best location.
Not much really in view of the price.
The location is very good. It is a nice big hotel
The bed wasnt level. The bathroom ceiling was poor
It was very big and in a good location
The beds were extremely uncomfortable
It wasn't far from the pier and shops
No ironing board in room .quite noisy from the rooms above you could hear alot of walking pay for parking
Location
The staff are very helpful and friendly. Nothing is to much trouble
All the staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely grand old hotel. Great location, right in the centre with good safe parking.
Creaky ( very) bedroom floor boards… added to the charm I guess
Location.
Room not as advertised in pictures walk in shower shown in all pictures before I booked ended up with a shower bath. No hand wash in bathroom. Car parking advertised but don’t tell you it’s £6 per day
Good location nice shower
Had to pay extra for parking, our room was right next to the loft and it it squeaked and banged all night couldn't sleep because of it, was too warm and no windows to open double bed was small
