The location
Breakfast. Comfortable bed. Nice staff.
Could've had a coffee table in room, and more comfy sofa. Maybe a picture on the wall.
Great location.
Needs updating
Location very good.breakfast I didn't try would of done at the initial booking in price didn't see the signs.
Upgraded room as the first room I was given was clean but very poor condition ie to small and long like a corridor tv to far away to see correctly. could not of stayed in that room.lady on reception when I ask for an upgrade was excellent 👌. and upgraded my room without question.
good

I thought everything was as you'd expect from a victorian building, it was quiet, room was spacious, great bed, clean & tidy for what it is. Price was within my budget (tight). Everything was close by & within walking distance. Staff was friendly & helpful to.
Not being on the 3rd floor, as I've got arthritis. And I thought the parking charge was a bit ridiculous...it's free to park at night on the road, but £5 a day in the hotel carpark 🤔
Room and location great for the price
Lovely big room close to amenities
Great location
Parking to be paid for
The price was very cheap and affordable
The staff were very absent having to wait over 30mins to be checked in ringing the phone and bell on desk. The bed was very uncomfortable. The was a lot of noises/drilling early hours of the morning There were signs saying hotel car park meter pay on the app so I did and was charged £11 Just to get inside and them say do you need to pay for parking it’s £5 for all guests.
Location was great. Friendly staff. Bar prices were good Car parking great
Very dated and tired building. No WiFi in the rooms.
Lovely comfortable beds big spacious room
Nothing
It’s an old building but was still in great condition staff very friendly also very dog friendly.
Great location n friendly staff
Shower gel canister needs changing ,
The rooms were luxurious and spacious, the location was excellent, we had a brilliant view if the marina and sea.
There was an unpleasant odore in the corridor and room. I don't know if it was an air freshener or fumigation, but we did need to open the window to reduce it.
Quite adequate breakfast, good choice of options

Breakfast was really good. Location was nice, my room was looking over the waterside. The size of the double room was good.
The water pressure in the bathroom was low. The property had a kind of an old smell.
Everything
But the used condom which was underneath the bed
We liked all of it the room was magnificent and very clean when we go back hope we can get that room again
The only thing we wasnt happen with was the price of drinks in the bar
It was tolerable but nothing more.
Not at all like the photos. Should have known better when I saw it was owned by Britannia the worst hotel chain in the UK.
The location and tea and coffee for the room was by reception if you needed more parking was good
Bar shut at 2030 we came back for a drink to be told the bar had closed. We stayed two nights and the second night it closed 2100 and the barmaid was cheeky and rude
The toast was good everything else was cold
All the cold food
Room was ok beds were quite old one slept ok the other not that was twin room location brilliant and food was good
change beds
I’m glad you asked about breakfast, most of which was lukewarm. Try a less wasteful method, ask residents what they want for breakfast and ask them to have tea/coffee and cereal while it’s cooked, fresher and much less wasteful. A hotel in Wakefield has that method and it works well,
Outside of the building is a customer first impression scruffy, poor house keeping on entrance
Spacious room , sea view , easy access for seeing friends and relatives. Dog friendly. And a good price.

This hotel has been fully refurbished, large rooms landings and hallways, excellent location
Our room was a suite amazing room and a great price for 2 nights, we will definitely be returning
Very clean
Bed uncomfortable
A classic Victorian seaside hotel on the promenade . Had a bedroom at the front with great views - see photo
In need of some TLC but no complaints about the room which was very clean and a well fitted bathroom . The quality of the breakfast was a bit disappointing
great location, great staff, overall a nice hotel.
The wi-fi is a bit slow.
Relaxed and friendly atmosphere, dogs loved it too
location
all was ok
Very helpful and friendly staff, especially the night porter who swiftly sorted a noise problem. Very comfortable accommodation, good food and very reasonable prices.
Room, would not relocate despite half hotel empty , very dated and stuffy windows facing wall of adjacent building
Breakfast was ok
The room was clean , but from the 1970s , the bed was the worse bed ive ever slept on in my life and ive slept in trenches
Staff were lovley and very helpful
Bed was joined together with a zip abd the gap in middle made it quite uncofortable.
It was in A good location
Clean tidy
Everything!

Exerlent good room hotel lovely
All of the hotel good stay
The location was convenient for the town
The room was small
Staf/room.
The room was very clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful
The breakfast was not good. I couldn't eat it all, had to leave it. The ingredients were cheap and poor quality (sausages and bacon).
Clean cheap great location and set menu food deal
Reception staff he was not very enthusiastic or engaging
We always stay at the royal cliffton its an anazung place great value for money easy access to the beach and lakesude has some great entertainment the sraff are great and freindly ive recommende to my family and friends
The only thing was they could do with more entertainment and opening up the other bar in conservertry
What an amazing Hotel, built in the 1800's with amazing old & new commodities. Every single member of staff had smiles on their faces and all were happy to help! In a prime location opposite the smaller end of the Lake, perfect for a stroll or to Funfair AND Lord Street is just around the corner 😀 Pubs & shopping on your door step! Morrisons just across the road with a petrol station
It's just a little gripe really, only one restaurant open for Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner with a 1 hour slot 🤔
Beautiful building in a great location
Loved everything
Staff friendly entertainment good need more great value great location
Just need more entertaintment
Bedroom
My room was massive and it over looked the sea...very good indeed
The staff excellent 👌 👏
Location was excellent and staff were very polite and friendly
The decoration could do with upgrades
Got a parking place
It's £6 to park
Nice spacious room with a view of the lake. Appreciated the new carpet and newly refurbished bathroom with large shower. All the staff are welcoming and the singer was quite good, who was performing in the evening
Beautiful hotel, beautiful location and beautiful staff.
wi-fi is a bit slow.
Location friendly staff
No entertainment because said not enough people staying no atmosphere too light in bar area lifts too far away
I stay in 3 different hotels per week all over the country, for work. This is the first hotel I've ever been in where I asked for a ground floor room on the booking form and actually got one. So the staff were great and no problems at all.
Typical old style seaside hotel, looks a bit tired on the outside but excellent inside, room was great, staff great.
Whats not to like 🤷♂️
Room clean, bedding clean. Breakfast was good.
Overall, building is tried and needs updating. The shower in one of the rooms did not work properly at 'peak' times when other peolpe were using water. This was reported on the first day but nothing was done about it and reception was not helpful at all.
The hotel overlooks the promenade, Dont let the Britannia label put you off. The reception and communal areas are grand and well appointed. My bedroom had clearly been recently repainted and a new bathroom fitted. I had the evening meal which was basic but adequate and all you can eat for a reasonable price.
Nothing.
Everything was really nice
My girlfriend did not like your sausages at breakfast
The breakfasts and dinners were very good value for money as part of the meal deal booked on checking in. There was a good choice and the food was good. The room was nice and roomy and our request for ground floor was granted. The manager was particularly helpful going out of his way to accommodate our party of 6 at mealtimes and evenings.
It would have been good to have a quieter area separate from the main lounge near the bar for people who may want to sit and have a drink and chat rather than listen to the entertainment in the evenings.
The room was clean and spacious, with a great view of the lake/sea
Dining was OK, not bad food, and it was self service, so it was plenty full. Perhaps it was the lack of atmosphere or the other guests, that seemed to make it an unusual experience. It was basic and the staff were helpful. But I don't think we would chose the food option again.
It was on the ground floor because my wife struggles with steps
Only one toilet roll for the week.

Staff greeted arrival with a smile, aware of name change on booking, efficient check in procedure. Room very clean and sufficient for a short stay. Evening meal and breakfast had enough choice, particularly liked having tea and coffee available at evening meal. All staff in reception, bar and restaurant very polite and professional. Humoured and entertained by Spencer. Off road parking at sensible price. Perfect location with park opposite and Lord Street within 100m.
All my comments in this section are for future guests as tips rather than dislike: No USB sockets so remember a three pin plug adapter No brown sauce at breakfast, remember to take your own Bed mattress a little hard, suited me but be aware
Location, cleanliness, friendly staff and value for money
Decor tired needing a little TLC , however saying that had character
Very clean and staff were very good
In the dining area were the toaster was it looked as though the wall had been scorched and not properly seen to all it needed was a small sheet off stainless steel putting in place
Good location and not expensive
The hotel was in a good location. Past the car park and road there was a lovely view of the lake. The room was spacious and comfortable. Plenty of facilities., including an iron and board.. hot shower. Comfortable beds. Ketle. Tea and coffee. Nice towel and towel heater. The breakfast was of a good standard. I
The only criticism that I have. The option for the vegitarian main meal for (dinner) could have been better. Also another option available would have been nice.
Everything
Comfortable room. Excellent breakfast.
I cant fault the hotel or the room or the bed. I just didn't get any sleep all night due to music coming from near the hotel room which was "thud thud" till 04.30 am so got no sleep at all.
As above
Scott and Alexa were the loveliest staff to greet us when we arrived. Our room was absolutely brilliant with a sea view and lots of space
Nothing not to like
Dident like it
We paid for 3 nights and only stayed for 2 we dident get any sleep to much noise and staff was arrogant and ignored it all they was doin was playing on phones

Yes I had lovely stay
The hotel
The hotel was spacious with lots of seating in the foyer area. It was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The entertainment was a great bonus on Thursday night. The food was outstanding value and very good. We ate breakfast and evening meal. The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable. The location is great.

Breakfast was excellent
Had difficulty parking
There is not one thing i could fault x
entertainment to early
Never a problem with the Clifton always a pleasure
The location was fantastic opposite the park and the beach with the shops set behind. Parking to the front everything was accessible
The car park to be purely for hotel guests
The location is great.
The confusing messaging after booking in. Being sent "urgent" check in messages on arrival day. There being 2 different check in times. 2 different amounts to pay for early check in. 3pm is too late to check in to a hotel. Especially when check out is 10 am. Breakfast is charged at £10 as an all you can eat. The food is not very nice. I wish I had not paid and gone to one of the many cafes nearby. My room was at the back of the hotel. There is no warning that a neighbouring property has loud music until 4 am.
I liked the staff, the facilities, the food, the location and the hotel is just beautiful.

Beautiful decor
Everything was good
It's traditional and in a great location at a great price. The breakfast was lovely and friendly staff.
Gap in the curtains. Uncomfortable hard mattress and pillows. I didn't sleep well
The hotel was close to the beach and rooms very spacious
Was informed on Booking that the hotel had a swimming pool -this was removed 3 yrs ago!!! Water and bathroom in one of the rooms stank, breakfast was ok The reception and bar area was very untidy
This is my 3rd time of staying, 1st with my husband, 2nd time great niece, 3rd time mum, me, granddaughter and great niece so variety of ages, we all loved the location, the room and hotel
The only thing for us was the breakfast, at £12.50 this is reasonable, but I only eat toast, so £12.50 for toast was high, maybe offer a smaller portion smaller price, or price menu for different options.
It's traditional and in a great location at a great price. The breakfast was lovely and friendly staff.
Gap in the curtains. Uncomfortable hard mattress and pillows. I didn't sleep well
A lot of water comes out of the sink taps. You should consider to install flow filters on the taps to reduce the flow and save water
Went out for breakfast
It was fine for us
Excellent location and everything we expected it to be
The evening meal was very poor and bland and tasteless
The whole hotel.had been refurbished and was beautiful. The rooms were excellent and vey clean. Exceeded our expectations for a double room that only cost 55 pounds Will definately be returning
Nothing
Very good location to walk into town and tourist attractions including Southport little Theatre. Off road parking is great. The large bed was very comfy and the bathroom ( especially the shower)was spacious. We chose to have the hot buffet meal and it was delicious and very good value for money.
It needs tidying up externally in front eg planks of wood and large weeds at the front of the property.
