We were upgraded to a nice room without us asking, king-size bed and a sea view.
All was good, staff lovely
The location is great. The staff very friendly. But that is all. It is a Britannia hotel… I did not know at time of booking as booked in a rush last minute on the spot an hour before checking in, late evening. Britannia just lets their hotels deteriorate without care, period. Sad really as this would have been a really nice hotel when it opened. We made it on time for the buffet dinner that was well cocked and the restaurant staff extremely nice; a treat after an exhausting day. The pool and gym area are very small but pleasant and they sell decent swimming costumes for about £25 which was great as we did not bring luggage. Worth the £5 additional charge to hotel guests for using the facilities. Breakfast was good and the gardens outside pleasant.
If you pay for the premium rooms, they are fabulous but the standard ones, I.e. most of the rooms, are old, badly maintained and uncomfortable. We book a tween by mistake with the rush as it is the first in the list… OMG what a room😞: hard mattresses, both different height, thick pillows, shower head could not be moved and spraying the whole bathroom floor as the glass covers only a small part of the bath edge. Dirt on the edges and ledges.
The location of the hotel was great, staff were lovely, very friendly, the entertainment team were great,
I was very disappointed that we didn't have a sea view room, we had a view of a car park. The size of the hotel and amount of guests I'm sure sea views were available,
The history of the place and its proximity to the beach. Nice staff, battle and garden.
Hot water wasn’t working but it was during one of the heat waves, so it didn’t matter so much.
We stay at the Royal Bath each year as it's a beautiful hotel, with great staff, and the location is very central.
Parking at the hotel is very steep, parking at the car park next to the hotel is also steep. We didn't have a great sleep, our door was sticking so you had to slam it shut, we heard the door slam next to us early hours so I guess they had the same issue. The bed wasn't comfortable, very springy, the pillows were like sleeping on a bag of monkey nuts. It was quite warm , there was a fan in the room with the cover that was covered in dust, and a picture in the wardrobe, not on the wall. The hotel has always lived up to our expectations, apart from this time. We were quite disappointed. We both woke up really tired and aching all over.
Although beautifully positioned this once graceful hote has suffered the ravages of time. In desperate need of an upgrade.
No water pressure so showering is impossible. Rooms do not get serviced and you have to contact reception to obtain tea, coffee top up,change towels etc. Parking is an additional £28 a day.
It was fine
The bed was absolutely awful. The worst I’ve stayed on Premier Inn is better. Ended up at the doctors the following week with my back was so bad.
Breakfast not raken Lication was very good
Bed and pillows were very hard and uncomforrable. Couldn't open or close windows ourselves. Room was small double but much smaller than it looked in photos as bed was up against the wall making ir diffucult for one to get out.enjoyed
I had room only option and bought snacks or meals at the bar. Great food at reasonable price. Room was spacious and the hotel is located very close to the beach, theatres and shops
The enterttainment was excellent . However it was not advertised anywhere. There are signs outside the hotel welcoming non residents and advertising entertainment. BUT there is no indication what is available, where and when. On one occasion the bingo was cancelled as there was so little take up. There must be advertising and marketing of entertainment. This hotel should be a 'location' in the area for entertainment. Ity could be and would be if the variety of entertainment was ADVERTISED !!
A beautiful hotel, lovely rooms.
Slightly dated, creaky floor.
Pool, downstairs areas of the hotel reflecting period Victorian grandeur. Convenient for the town centre and beach.
Bedroom looked tired and smelt musty. We were woken at 6am by the TV being switched on in the next room on both mornings of our stay (including a Sunday), everything heard clearly through an adjoining door. Hot buffet food was mostly lukewarm, and at times staff failed to keep platters topped up. “Evening entertainment” was little more than karaoke which had to be endured while eating.
Yeah I like your property my room was very clean
Location is very nice and room also nice
leaving
attitude of the manager
The seating area by the bar and garden area was absolutely lovely, Location was ideal if you don’t want to walk far! Bar tapas was great
Well… the room was very tired, the bed was against the wall which wasn’t a small double in my opinion. More like a single… The breakfast on the first day ran out sometimes, but 2nd day we went earlier and it was fine, not a fan of having to pay extra for a freezing cold pool when everywhere else it’s included in the price £56 for valet parking is bad..
Everything
Nothing
Ideal location for the place we we going to.
Breakfast was not upto the standard we were expecting for this style of hotel. Not much choice regarding healthy eating (yoghurt very runny, no continental option, sausages were greasy and worm, no option for poached egg ect) So on this that is why we were disappointed.
Staff where lovely very helpfull.
Had to move rooms 3 times when I got there as they just weren't suitable and what I expected. The second room they moved me to was nice but TV and Shower didn't work but, I got moved again to a live room with no arguments. The reception staff were great. I ended up staying an extra night because it's such a lovely peacefull hotel 😊 Breakfast wasn't great. But the setting was lovely
Good staff facilities location
Very hard to find the room From the lift to 2nd floor there are no signs to say which way to go for room 600 +

the location and views are incredible
breakfast was often out of stock long waits to be replenished and coffee disgusting
Location is good, but hotel needs updating.
Room is very dated, and doesn't feel worth the price. Window did not open much, no air conditioning. Breakfast coffee machine was broken, and options are fairly limited. I also booked with the plan to use the gym and pool after work, but as this closes at 6pm weekdays it was not possible.
Great location.
Bar closed early…
Gammelt hotell som i sin tid har vært veldig flott! Vi likte det veldig godt! Fin musikk om kvelden! Fin dansesal m bar, fin frokost og frokostsal. Beliggenheten kunne ikke vært bedre!
Alt var bra
Location
Cashless place. Looks like a retirement home, no entertainment. Toilet was broken. No iron or hairdryer. Used to come every year for a holidays. Not planning to coming back.
The receptionist
The bed was hard, the room was boiling, and the price was high for the room we had
Very friendly and good value for money, overall a lovely experience
The room view wasn't good
Bar area - sofas
Room - very basic for an 'upgrade' - awful Lack of directions to room Food - meat very fatty Frozen vegetables Bar service Food Expensive for the standard
- Best location in Bournemouth - Lovely pool & spa - Beautiful building
The management knowingly lists double rooms at good prices, but then in the small print it says that some of these rooms will not have windows. The vast majority of other hotels that offer windowless rooms do so explicitly saying windowless, as is the decent move, however, these guys put it in the T&Cs and there were multiple other people at the front desk when I was there with the exact same complaint. For me personally, it was bearable, but did feel a bit claustrophobic and a bit let down They then say a the desk oh so confidently 'oh well it's important to read the small print'. All they need to do is have 2 room types here: Double Room & Double Room (No windows) - this is very basic, rather than try and deceive by omission. You can see 'no windows' constantly mentioned in Google reviews and reviews here! It's like buying a car then the engine is awful, the seller knows the engine is awful but doesn't say it upfront, instead putting in the small print "some cars may have awful engines". It's a reasonable social obligation to be upfront about major downsides of rooms. They clearly have received repeated complaints about this but done nothing, so I will make sure to leave a review on all platforms possible to ensure you are all aware
Very good mealsRoom
The room didn’t have a proper bathroom and furniture far to small for one let alone as a double
Stunning hotel with so much history - so wonderful to sit in the majestic lounges so peaceful to lookout onto the garden and sea
Nothing
We had a lovely room. Very comfortable and clean, a little dated, however very nice

Nothing
The hotel was in a good position close to the town very clean and comterble food was good and the staff were very friendly
There was nothing not to dislike
Beautiful hotel good location and friendly staff
Car park to expensive should have discount if staying in hotel Food not a great selection
Lovely large, clean and comfortable room with a good view.
Cheap and tasteless food at breakfast such as the bread, butter, ham and cheese. Bar staff were not helpful and actually quite rude. I asked at the bar for some ice for the room and I was given it in a boiling hot, just cleaned glass. I questioned that and was met with a shrug that said to me “just get on with it or go without”!! Needless to say it had all melted by the time I got to our room.
Everything was good, but a a couple of things needs updating
The shower needs to be more powerful, I had to stand close to the taps for the shower to wash my whole body, the windows would only stay open if put a teaspoon underneath, and there wasn't enough pillows on the beds
The main part of the hotel I saw looked nice but we were shoved into a room accessed by the staff entrance. Breakfast was okay. Towels were good but that’s it really. Very disappointed
No parking. Room was not clean, including cup marks beside the bed and dust everywhere. Furniture was extremely worn and past their use. Not good value for the rate price paid. Accessed the room from the staff parking entrance so heard when the doors were opened and closed throughout. The window rattled each time anything bigger than a car passed on the road which happened all through the night
The location is perfect
They say they are dog friendly but the dog couldn’t go anywhere in the hotel only the room So this spoilt are stay we couldn’t go to any of the entertainment couldn’t eat in the hotel only outside No dog bowls down or dog treats And the manager Anthony was very rude towards us and didn’t makes us feel welcome at all I go to this hotel at least once a year This visit put us off We had to change room as the first room wasn’t excepable
A grand hotel with wide corridors. Very close to the sea. We had an amazing room with a balcony and a sea view. A leisure centre on site with a swimming pool was an added bonus. The staff were so helpful at all times.
The breakfast was copious but basic. But they were catering for a lot of people so it was all very efficient.
Location and facilities
Breakfast could have been better
The location was great
Not clean and the bed was not comfortable or clean
The outside looked very palatial and grand and our room had a partial sea view
The noise from the entertainment room was terrible until after 10pm and in the morning there was music coming from there too. Our room wasn’t even directly above it. We were rudely awakened by the fire alarm going off and when I questioned this at reception she dismissed it as out of her control. Breakfast was rather pricey (£25 for 2) for what was on offer. The coffee was very weak and I did not return for a second cup. The selection of cereal was poor - two choices and there didn’t seem to be any gluten free options for bread. Despite the failings with breakfast, the serving staff at breakfast time were lovely and kept their limited options well stocked.
bar and gardens
the walk to the room. not enough signs in lifts and corridors
The garden and bar area were comfortable and pleasant
I was given a room the size of a small cupboard with no ventilation and terribly uncomfortable bed with no room to swing a cat. It was dark and dingy and outdated. I asked to change rooms and was told there were none and had to pay an additional £90 to upgrade to a suite which although much bigger was also very tired and outdated and hot
There for 4 days, no change of towels cups, don't clean rooms Bedding or empty bins
Location
The principle of having to pay for everything at Reception and not told about these charges at Check in. in particular having to pay £28 per day to park the car and £5 per day to use the pool. The two alternatives for dinner where one was a buffet so no-one actually served you and where there was no choice for the fixed rate you were charged. The alternative was even worse because when I ordered soup and a main meal it all turned up together so the main was sitting there getting cold. In the room the bed was comfortable but in the en suite it was ridiculously cramped with no bath mat which is pretty basic. I assume all you are thinking of is money because services virtually nil. Needless to say I shall not be staying at the Royal Bath again.
We enjoyed everything, and the location was good for entertainment we booked before hand. All in walking distance. Regards Helen
We liked everything.
Location
Management team need to scratch up there customer service skill they had no resolution or answer to why the rooms where distrusting other the. Saying u can stay in our basement rooms that have no windows !!and the rooms need gutting these where the dirtiest rooms I have ever seen on arrival to at a hotel walls floors lamp shades bathroom all stained bed is rock hard springs in ur back and the 2 rooms we had one smelt like damp and the other smelt like cigarettes dust on surfaces I wouldn’t recommend this hotel too anyone
The building has character and history, the garden is beautiful, the pool is lovely.
How it was close to the beach other then that I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to my worst enemy
Where do I even start the first room we where given had a used plastic wine cup in there the bathroom stunk on damn and all the surfaces where covered in dust I go back down to the check in desk to speak to a manager and they customer service levels where on the floor I was very polite in my tone he then gave us a different room that stunk of cigarette smoke and the room was covered in very gross stains I know For the price I wasn’t expecting the Hilton but the rooms just being clean is a bare minimum!! We went back down to complain again and asked for a refund ( it was my birthday weekend and we didn’t want it ruined by rude staff and neglected rooms but we where refused a refund due to us only booking one night I wasn’t expecting a room upgrade just a room that wasn’t disgusting to be in but the manager was saying I can upgrade you for an extra fee we didn’t want an upgrade I just wanted a decent nights sleep ( was never going to happen on the beds that feel like ur sleeping on every spring ) the manager refused to answer my questions on why we couldn’t move rooms for a third time and or get a refund and we where hoping to speak to another manager but when we walked over they where very clearly laughing and talking about us which is very unprofessional I believe his name started with a s or a c dark black hair quite a short man. Will not be returning don’t be fooled my the reception and look of the bar area this hotel is disgusting
Great location
General quite run down - needs refurbishment
Its position by the beach in Bournemouth is perfect! The staff- the Maitre D and his lovely colleague Remy in particular- are wonderful and make you feel very welcome. The rooms are a great size. It has a cosy and homely feel about it too! We never feel the need to go out for meals elsewhere; we have a great breakfast to set us up for the day; we love exploring local area, jumping on a bus outside the hotel and enjoying our day or just relaxing on the beach, then coming back to a good meal in the evening. We may relax in the lounge and get a drink or walk to the pier. Everything feels very relaxed and easy!
Though the bed was big, the mattress felt a bit hard this time around- this is our 2nd visit to The Royal Bath Hotel. The bed wasn’t as comfortable as our first time. Also, the heating in the jacuzzi had broken down in the spa, which meant it was very cold, which was disappointing!
The man who welcomed us to breakfast on both days was lovely. He was welcoming, helpful and polite. The breakfast food was lovely and indeed the dining area.
The attitude of the reception staff was brusque to say the least. Our room 232 was disappointing. The window was jammed and wouldn't shut so the road noise was loud and disruptive. Also the cups and towels weren't replaced each day as been the case in other hotels we have stopped at.
Being placed in staff quarters broken chair my friend landed on the floor lid of the kettle and plug behind the bed
Location, cafe
Location and cleanliness
Nothing
Bedroom was ok. Breakfast was plentiful. Location good
No cash accepted. So every time you went to the bar etc. Card every time. Bedroom was not serviced every day. Coffee was shite. No biscuits in room for Tea/ coffee etc. Not what I expected. .
Everything was perfect! The hotel was very clean, staff friendly , they let us to check in at 12 because the room was ready . Perfect location too !
Car park a bit expensive and iron a bit small but ok . A car park is near the hotel £6 for 24 hours
Room, hotel decor and ambience, friendly staff, good breakfast, great location., tea and coffee making, comfortable bed. Like the pool and jacuzi and the gardens.
The wash basin and bath fittings are old, the shower rose is old and fixed, the shower screen leaked at the bottom. These should be renewed.
Room view ,breakfast everything very nice
Nothing
The room was incredible. Helpful staff. Great location.
Not 100% clean, did find some items in the room that was left from prev guests. Window ledge very dusty.
Friendly staff and spacious rooms. Very close to centre and beach
Not keen on buffets
The location is great. The bathroom was clean and modern.
The decor was shabby, the stairwells were damp smelling and the buffet dinner was probably the worst meal I have ever eaten in a restaurant
Loved the breakfast. I also liked the view from the window in my room. Bathroom was well equipped and the very clean.
The furniture, paint work and carpet could be with being updated. looked a bit shabby and uncared for. But it was clean.
muito bom
Only the seaside view
First thing was very dump air in the room. Our evening was ruined by some local drunken people who was making huge noise in the saloon/bar for very long time. Also in the room we can hear all night long noises from the sealing above us so we couldn't sleep all night. Hasn't been pleasant time at all.
Every single thing
Nothing
The garden the bar
Brilliant location. Lovely old rambling building. Great outdoor and indoor seating. Handy bar. Easy to park not far away at reasonable cost (central car park). Very close to the theatre. Spacious areas. Quirky staff were polite and helpful. Great food reasonable value (really surprised how good).
Didn’t expect to be asked to register and pay before on line - had to check it wasn’t a scam. Can’t remember seeing any warning small room might have no windows until I tried to register on line. Upgraded at reception to room 219 (thanks) which was almost impossible to find via signs or initial directions.
This hotel has great history the house at the back was built by the original owner and now after they left it to Bournemouth it is a museum. The manager was a gentleman as with all staff. If possible they try to upgrade your room. Very good food and great swimming pool for £5 and valet parking.
History and facilities plus food
Nothing -
Poor staff, poor inedible food, dirty, old and most of all absolutely ignorant and offensive front of house and management staff- And the valet parking damaged my car and then denied it
Location was good.
The room was dirty, grime on the walls and the radiator. In the bathroom there was hair in the tub and on the walls, grime also at the top of the tub and the shower curtin had stains all over it. I also forgot my portable charger and wall charger in the room. I remember exactly where I left it however the hotel state nothing was found. So either someone has taken the items or they haven’t checked properly, which is extremely disappointment. I have emailed about these issues and the responses was extremely disappointing. The hotel offered an upgrade during a future stay. Evidentially after this experience I will not be returning so the offer is useless.
Spacious, comfortable room. Excellent food.
Cost.
Location
Old fashioned damage dirty furniture everything looks old and knackered needs updating holes in panelling in bathroom just generally a tatty hotel
Very stately building very grand, wonderful relaxing bar areas and large garden, spa and pool available at very low cost. Just a wonderful stay.
Nothing
Location is great. Looks amazing when you go in, but it needs a lot of work elsewhere. Signs for rooms aren’t the best, and it can take some time remembering where it is.
The heat is unbearable in the hotel, it’s like it’s on 24/7. Bedroom didn’t have a window, and it wasn’t on the listing. The fan provided didn’t give out enough air to cool us down.
The breakfast was lovely. The location is top notch; only a few minutes' walk from the beach.
There needs to be a lift to get from the lower ground floor to the upper ground floor. I struggled with my suitcase, and helped guests who were struggling to walk down the steps. The No Smoking ban on tables directly outside the restaurant has to be enforced, otherwise cigarette smoke drifts in through the windows as guests are trying to eat inside the restaurant. It also means that the gardens tend to be taken over by smokers. There needs to be a large water cooler, mentioned and location given in the guest information, that guests can use to refill water bottles. Some sort of sound-proofing between rooms would be good as guests in the next room played their TV very loudly late at night, which was disruptive. There needs to be an option of decaffeinated normal tea at breakfast and dinner, and decaffeinated coffee sachets as well as caffeinated in the bedrooms. There was no socket next to the bed in my room, which was tricky as I wanted to charge my phone but also keep it within easy reach at night.
Loved the suite that we got. If you are need a room and sitting room separate. Its amazing. Myricksuite is the one with the view as well and windows that can open. Also had a mini cooler, two TV and modern sofa. The beach is just right there....
Its my 4th time at royal bath and i must say the molds seems to be apart of their bathroom. However this time it was not bad at all.
Location was ideal, we were there to visit the theatre which was just across the road. We were thankful for an upgraded room as we were told most small double rooms don’t have a window but we were given a room with a window and extra space. The hotel served Starbucks coffee which was a bonus.
Finding our way around the hotel was difficult the signage needs to be a bit clearer. We also asked to be placed near the lift as my mother has mobility problems. We still had to contend with stairs to get to our room which wasn’t ideal but we couldn’t complain as our room was upgraded.
The room and the view was absolutely amazing... The square was within walking distance as well as the beach.
Everything was great.
Location Charming
Not too clean
I loved how friendly the staff were and helpful people were even other guests
I didnt like the smell in the corridor to our room there was a constant smell.of cigarettes i had to ask for more toilet roll as one was not enough for 2 people for 3 days
The price was a bit steep, but they surprised me with a nice upgrade at the hotel (seaview + balcony) which made it totally worth it. Without the upgrade, it might have felt too much, but with it, I felt it was a great deal.
Internet connection and room cleaning are very poor.
Outside garden space for dog
Very outdated hotel and not clean rooms
Easy check in with friendly staff, location fantastic for what we needed. Room was very clean and tidy
Lack of air conditioning room was a stuffy and found it hard to sleep. Balcony could do with being a bit more private with perhaps putting up a screen between rooms. Breakfast was very below par, cold and overcooked or left out too long In or on hot plates.
i liked that it was right near the bournemouth beach i liked that there was a pool and gym within the facilities there was live entertainment on offer aswell as food but i didnt access these. we went out most of the time.
in the evenings where our room was we could hear people on the street shouting. i think it was the drug addicts that hang around by the shops. they were there every night making noise. a room away from thw main street may have prevented this. the parking for hotel is 28 pound a night however 5 or 10 minutes walk away is central park and berry court car park at 6.40 for 24 hours. only issue is i had to keep moving my car every day between the 2 because you cannot renew the 24 hours same day.
Room was aawful and nothing like the photos on booking.com website. We left the room within a minute as my wife got upset and felt claustrophobic and had hot flushes. The hotel reception advised us to call booking.com for a refund. I think the room is high risk dangerous should anything go badly wrong.
The reception had other upset people wanting their money back and were stressed that they could not get through to booking.com. Also had an old man in reception who appeared to be drunk randomly shouting and creating a toxic atmosphere.
Location vise good but service vise shit they didn’t provide room cleaning and if you need fresh towels or toilet rolls you need to collect from the reception even you stay 2 nights 3 nights even more they don’t clean your room.
Excellent
Nothing
J'ai aimé l'histoire du lieu. L'architecture. L'emplacement assez central.
Room was big with loads of storage. Close to the beach, gardens, pier and facilities.
Room was not clean. Behind the chest of drawers which the TV was on was dusty and dirty and outside the door leading to the garden was a dirty tissue and child’s sock. I checked all the drawers and in one I found 2 cigars and in another a child’s plastic toy. You charged us £60 to allow our dog in the room, what was that £60 for because if you can’t clean a room normally you certainly aren’t using the £60 for a deep clean. On the Sunday evening I had to go to reception at 11.30pm to complain about our noisy neighbours which was dealt with effectively and promptly for which we were grateful; however as I walked to reception someone had dropped a pile of chips in the corridor by the laundry cupboard. The following morning they were all squashed into the carpet and two members of staff standing right by them whilst in the cupboard. Common sense would have said clean them up rather than let everyone walk in them!
Not alot. We asked for an upgrade and was given the garden room whcih was large (No 50) the room was clean but needed redecorationg . The bathroom was very poor and needed updating, the mixer tap on the shower did not work, having asked reception to fix it nothing happened. i have never stayed in a hotel where we have had to hand wash. This was not an upgrade but a down grade costing an extra £58. This is not a dog friendly hotel, rules about dogs was only provided after we had paid.Apart from gaining access to your room the garden was the only other place it could access. No bar area.? The staff were having to deal with complains, moral must be very poor.
You need to close the rooms not modernised and provide an area where dogs can sit and their owners can have tea or a drink. The sound proofing and insolation below landing areas and above bedrooms is almost non existent and requires investigating if only to ensure it meets fire regualations.

The hotel was clean and tidy, staff were friendly and helpful. It was nice having french doors looking out on to a well kept garden.
There wasn't much to dislike we didn't try any food but used the bar, we did find the notice boards were incorrect at times which was a bit disappointing. Other than that we enjoyed our stay.
The staff were friendly, the children enjoyed their breakfast.
We booked 2 twin rooms but we're given one twin and one double room. The lighting was poor and the bathtubs were too old and the funs were sooo dusty 😢 we have been loyal customers for many years but it's high time we think about staying somewhere else when we visit next summer. There was dog poo on the landing in the hallway and the cleaner was kind to attend as soon as I notified them.
Property in a great location with beautiful gardens. Beautiful structure
Disabled access into and around the property is difficult No built in ramps. Etc
My room was changed when I had displayed my displeasure of viewing the room. The spa facilities have a fee even though we stayed at the hotel. Lack of bar staff and having to wait a long time to get served.
Both rooms were either ground or lower ground where very little natural light. Refused to stay in room 213 as it was very small and was very warm considering there is no air conditioning in the hotel this would have made for a very uncomfortable rest. The room was located down a plethora of corridors and stairs.
