Beautiful location. Elegant. Well kept gardens
Needs a little updating. Bathrooms in particular. Out of the way so if you need a cab/taxi it was difficult to plan getting out and about. Cab company let me down so had to cancel and get a lift from someone.
My room was quiet and comfortable and the building itself and communal spaces are impressive
I was a bit taken aback about how rundown the place was and the fact that apparently your lift hasn't worked for a long time. Your gardens were very unkempt - do you still have proper gardeners? Your tear away paper map in the foyer was long out of date in comparison to the state of the actual gardens. Yes I am aware of the drought situation, but still! The dinner we had was average compared to the price. Please put some effort into fixing the place up as it is obviously being somewhat neglected. Thanks!
Location beautiful building and gardens.
The food light plates was one of the worst ive tasted but they did refund
Beautiful looking venue, was attending a party at the hotel
Lift not working and I was on 3rd floor. With multiple corridors & internal doors to navigate with luggage. Staff did help on arrival but nobody around on checkout. Hairdryer hardwired in a cupboard in the bedroom no where near a mirror. Requested a regular hairdryer - socket next to table & chair but mirror too high up to actually see in it. Resorted to sitting on 2 pillows so that I could look in mirror!
It’s our 2nd time of staying at this stunning hotel as we attend Rewind. There’s no other words except stunning. Rooms, grounds, hotel itself, everything
Nothing not to like
Amazing location and the property is beautiful. Very traditional and well run.
Nothing
Beautiful setting, stunning views from the garden, room very comfortable and clean. Free use of the spa, including gorgeous pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and gym. World definitely recommend
Excellent breakfast, lovely helpful staff, marvellous setting.
UHT carton milk in rooms. Hotel should consider placing small bottles in fridges, if customers request this.
We had a lovely stay at Danesfield House for my partner's birthday. We had a gorgeous room which was super clean, quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed taking walks in the grounds and also had a lovely time in the spa. The breakfast was delicious with loads of variety. We will be back!
Beautiful property and location. Very friendly staff who were very accommodating when we arrived late. Room was very clean and facilities very good
No aircon in our room which made sleeping quite difficult. Staff were great getting fans for us but some air conditioning would be a huge improvement!
Beautiful location and setting, very relaxing. Loved the grounds and viewpoint. Massages and swimming were wonderful. Staff very friendly. Room lovely. Very romantic.
Would have liked a safe in room. Decided to have restaurant/bar meal as saw options before arrival (link sent by hotel) but the food menu had completely changed when we actually got there so I was very limited in what I could actually eat/choose. Would have liked an earlier check in for more time to swim and enjoy area.
Beautiful building with poignant history and amazing views. Wonderful rooms and shared spaces and facilities in the room. Super breakfast and bar. Very friendly staff. We really enjoyed our stay.
Sadly the lift was not working during our stay and was apparently not going to be a quick fix. Considering the importance of the venue and for weddings etc, when we visited, the gardens looked unkempt and poorly maintained at peak wedding season time when people are photographing the grounds and walking around. This is an area which if tended correctly can really complete the experience at the venue, which is so wonderful a location. The whole place on the outside just needs a bit of ‘polish’ to really make the ‘wow’ factor - just starting to look a bit tired. But we appreciate the huge cost of such maintenance.
It was in beautiful surroundings, the staff were really friendly, rooms clean and comfortable
It wasn’t something I didn’t like but I was a little warm at night.
There place was in beautiful woods . Shame about the pool side . Check before u attend. The jacuzzi wasn’t working. That was the whole reason we went there. Very disappointed
Not much really. Very disappointed
Great hotel, full of character
Wait time for dinner and quality of food
the grounds were beautiful.
The property was highly priced and the rooms were extremely dated and very hot with no air con. for the money paid we do not feel the room met our expectations.
Beautiful period hotel & super staff
BREAKFAST WAS NICE
WE ARRIVED AND WAS TOLD WE COULDNT USE FACILITIES UNTIL CHECKED IN COULDNT CHECK IN UNTIL 3 SO HAD NO TIME TO USE AND CHECKING OUT BY THE TIME WE HAD BREAKFAST ONLY HAD HALF AN HOUR TO USE EVERY HOTEL WE HAVE STAYED AT HAVE ALLOWED US TO USE FACILITIES EVEN WHEN NOT CHECKED IN BREAKFAST WAS NICE ALTHOUGH WE HAD TO ASK FOR WATER AND ORANGE JUICE WAST OFFERED
Beautiful historical building. We have been a few times many years ago to stay, eat and use the spa.
It was unfortunately very tired. Stained fabrics, dirty paintwork, damaged cushions ( with stuffing poking out) dirty cobwebby windows on the terrace. The grounds were very well maintained and beautiful. The views from the terrace are stunning. Staff were pleasant some incredibly helpful. The food I ordered for lunch was barely edible. A bizarre overly toasted club sandwich and my husband had chicken tenders with a trio of sauces ( blue cheese, hot sauce and another) that he assumed would come in separate portions but were slathered all over the chicken.. very strange taste profile, my husband ate them because he will eat most things!! It also took 35 minutes to arrive and it wasn’t busy.
Beautiful estate, nice walks, good river view
You can’t actually go down to the river bank from the estate, big detour required; also our room didn’t have aircon so it was rather hot
Lovely place, we had been here a long time ago. Gardens and flowers so lovely. The clock tower we booked, was very photogenic. View of the river, we did not have.
The formality felt forced. The staff told us they were there and no issue. The first breakfast, we were not welcome and restricted to what staff wanted to offer. The QR code did not work, we were chased like criminals to pay for two extortionately priced glasses of Prosecco.
Lovely staff ,great food , perfect atmosphere ,in general i would recommend this hotel .
There was no air in our room .
Staff where excellent and the buildings are unique.
Location and building
Very hot room no AC
It was beautiful
As always a lovely comfortable stay with polite helpful staff surrounded by a beautiful setting
The food menu for the evening was quite limited if your staying to eat-in every night of your stay
The driveway up to the hotel was impressive and there was plenty of convenient parking. The hotel building itself is quite stunning. The original hotel rooms are very quaint but lack investment with threadbare carpets etc.
The hotel is clearly run on a shoestring budget. There were no porters available to help guests with their luggage, which was made more difficult as the single lift was out of order. Staff are thin on the ground lack management. We found the management at breakfast unfriendly. As a result we visited nearby Marlow each day for breakfast. The staff appeared to be generally unhappy. This becomes evident through the level of service they provide.
Two night stay in a classic room. Room was an odd spare with sloping low ceilings which meant, even as a 5'2 woman, I had to duck to move around. But that was my only complaint about the room. It was clean and elegant, had aircon, TV and a great shower. Excellent access to wifi around the hotel. Beautiful grounds and interior. Old fashioned in style as you'd expect I guess. We didn't have an evening meal but did take breakfast, which was somewhat disappointing. Rather on the expensive side given the volume and quality. The spa was beautiful and very peaceful. At check out, they tried to bill me for someone elses facial. But overall, we were very happy with our stay.
Absolutely incredible experience at Danesfield House Spa, truly 5⭐.... Everything felt calm, luxurious, and perfectly considered. I had both a massage and a facial and I can honestly say it was the best EvEr!! massage. Feeling truly rejuvenated. The spa itself has so much to offer on so many levels, it’s not just a visit, it’s an experience. Exceptional kind staff which made the day all that more special. And as for the food, Fresh and delicious, perfect compliment. This is more than just a spa — it’s a truly special place. Huge congratulations to the whole team.🙌🙌🙌
Our stay at Danesfield House Hotel was very relaxing. Great location, the food was excellent and the staff were attentive, nothing was too much trouble.
Our stay at Danesfield was absolutely wonderful! We had an amazing weekend and loved every minute of it. The hotel was peaceful and quiet, making it the perfect place to relax. Our room was beautiful, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The staff were warm, friendly, and attentive throughout our stay. The afternoon tea was delicious, and the coffee was excellent. The highlight for us was definitely the wellness area. The swimming pool was huge, and we really enjoyed the saunas, jacuzzi, and well-equipped gym. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful green grounds, and the view of the river from the garden was simply stunning. The location was also great—there's a bus stop just a 10-minute walk from the hotel with easy connections to Marlow. We also enjoyed the cocktails at the bar, which were good. The interiors of the hotel are absolutely stunning and full of character. We had such a fantastic experience and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!
There were only a couple of minor things that could be improved. It would be great if the wellness area stayed open a little later than 8:30 pm, as we would have loved to enjoy it for longer. The scrambled eggs at breakfast could have been better, but the rest of the breakfast was enjoyable. The room door didn't close completely, so a little light came through from the hallway. However, we understand that this is a historic building, so it wasn't a major issue and certainly didn't affect our overall experience. The only thing we missed in the room was a mini fridge.
This is a beautiful building set in extensive grounds. There’s a lovely walk you can do which takes in views of the Thames. The breakfast was good and dinner was really interesting with an inventive menu. The staff were excellent, so helpful and welcoming. The spa is great with a large pool which allows you to have a proper swim. A lovely place to stay for a special treat.
The building is now fading a bit and could do with an uplift. Paint pealing in places and signs of decline.
The property is beautiful..
We booked a superior room but was placed in a non-air conditioned room where we didn’t sleep the entire night due to the heat. The next day we had to beg for a room with air condition as it was 99 F degrees outside and there were ac rooms available. Management finally moved us to a cooler room after a 30 minute discussion but there were no apologies or understanding for our incredible discomfort.
Vibe and dining
Nothing
No Aircon in our 5 bedrooms but reception would not give us a room with it even though it was 7pm and nobody else checking in. Duty of care on one of the hottest evenings in the Country was woeful and outrageous. The Hotel were arrogant and horrendous!!
Loved the setting, beautiful room, very comfortable and very friendly staff. Great accommodation for gluten free food for breakfast. Loved the view across the Thames.
Nothing
Stunning location, beautiful old building with a very interesting history and lovely manicured traditional gardens. Stunning elevated views of the Thames. Our room was very clean and comfortable.
Nothing! We will be returning!
Nothing!!
Hottest day of the year no AC they had rooms with AC but wouldn’t allow us to upgrade. We had 5 rooms shocking service and no duty of care I’m fuming!!
Prachtig uitzicht
Geen airco
Very nicely kept

Visited Dansefield House Hotel and Spa for three nights in a classic room without the knowledge of 1) It would be a record period for heat and 2) The room would lack AirCon. To add to our issue, the toilet refused to flush and the shower head bracket was broken, once we reported these issues a new room was given (An upgrade into modern times with Aircon) this put a complete change to how we viewed the hotel. Now the positive stuff! Hotel is set in a beautiful location midway between Marlow and Henley on Thames in acres of grounds which are lovingly looked after by the grounds staff. And breakfast on the terrace was a delight, service from the staff was first class along with the food. Parking is plentiful and what we saw of the Spa looked excellent (unfortunately our visit was so heavily planned we did not have time to use this facility but would allow time if we revisit). Given its age 126 years, the hotel can smell a little musty in places, like most new hotel groups a signature scent would go a long way to sorting this. If the rooms all had Aircon and pillows were softer this would be a five star hotel no doubt. Our original issues should have been picked up prior to our arrival to prevent a poor start, however it was sorted which is what counts. This part of Berkshire is a beautiful place with both Marlow and Henley only five minutes drive away and Windsor thirty minutes. I forgot mention of your an airline fan, the hotel sits right under the exit to Heathrow’s holding pattern so every minute you get an aircraft banking round the grounds into final approach without creating any noise issues. Thank you all for a wonderful stay.
Friendly staff, especially the restaurant Manager Adam and the senior guys at breakfast, excellent service!
Stunning location and beautiful grounds. The restaurant was excelllent for an evening meal. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was luxurious - from the entrance hall and throughout the building
The hotel is very old school. Quite formal but still relaxed. All staff are polite, warm and friendly. Had dinner in the restaurant. Well designed menu. Plenty of choices for starter, main and dessert courses. Well cooked dishes and presented nicely. All in all a very nice meal and value for money. Expensive as expected. However why worry about the cost. You’re not going to eat here every day in any case. It’s worth a visit at least once.
We always dine at this lovely hotel on special occasions, our visit this time was for my birthday. Yet again we had a fabulous Sunday Lunch in the amazing Oak Room with a great table looking through the Orangery onto the garden. The food is faultless and it was lovely when they brought my happy birthday chocolates. But it's the incredible restaurant staff that always make our visit so enjoyable everyone is welcoming polite attentive and professional we just can't fault them and always look forward to returning to our special hotel.
We celebrated my 60th Birthday at Danesfield House Hotel on the 4th June in the Oak Room and we had a fabulous time. From the moment we arrived we were looked after. The team on the night did a fabulous job and the food was fantastic. Best of all the hotel was warm!! It had been a very cold day and I was worried it would be a little chilly but it wasn't and that made a big difference to the whole atmosphere. We couldn't have pre-dinner drinks on the patio so we had them in the Great Hall instead which was amazing and didn't affect the evening at all. Fabulous event and would definitely go again. Thank you to Vinod and Mahindra and team on the night and shout out to the chef and kitchen.
It’s quite tired and expensive because of that
The rooms need refurbishing
Staff very helpful in arranging taxis and lounge excellent with old world comfort and charm. The swimming pool and facilities were very good.
Biscuits and tea in room were inadequate and sandwiches eaten at lunch time were over priced and mediocre in quality.
Fantastic gardens and beautiful historic building
Huge period house with some very interesting history to it . Beautiful original lounge and downstairs area. Staff were lovely food was great both for dinner and breakfast . Bedroom opened onto a garden and was lovely
Bathroom was clean and had everything you would need but is a bit dated and tired looking . Really not a fan of bath shower combinations would much prefer a walk in shower and save the bath for those very big bathrooms
The resort is nice has a large garden and beautiful river view and many “secret” places to explore
The management did not properly take care of my recovering wife. She had a surgery recently and needs a cool room to avoid agitating the wound. Unfortunately they kicked us out of our room which we booked for 6 nights on the 5th night and they forced us to move to a room which has weak cooling. It was incredibly hot and my wife was very unhappy and they did nothing to help beside usual excuses. They even sent us a fan which did was broken.
Beautiful property, lovely architecture. Staff were very accommodating and returned an item of property I left behind.
It’s an old property so things like plug points are a little lacking but probably to be expected.
Whilst I couldn't award this venue my special five star grading it was better than good. Lunch was delicious in every way, the service was friendly and relaxed, the venue was beautiful. After lunch we walked around the grounds in the sunshine and admired the views over the Thames. Made you feel grateful to be able to experience England at its best. Many couples were viewing the venue for weddings, it would be a lovely place for a wedding reception.
Lovely grounds, quiet, gorgeous room
Expensive for a one night stay but was a special occasion
Location great ! Lovely rooms Great showers
Reception staff were great Bar staff not so - the young supervisor was pretentious talking about her cocktails and really patronising. She was just on her laptop Needs to be taken down a peg or two The day before that We had the really green cocktail - it took ages and it didnt taste nice.we didn’t drink it but still paid for it and no one asked ? That young girl said the menu was new and didn’t know any drinks or where anything was but you are charging premium prices ??
The grounds are beautiful and the facilities are good. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious.
Booking.com advised our hotel would have a bath - it did not and they couldn’t move us, nor did staff offer anything to make up it. Just a blame game. The hotel feels like it’s perhaps seen better days in places, the Spa included. The staff seem overworked and stretched. £20 to get 1hr later check-out, despite the bath issue was an extra annoyance. Breakfast was well below the standard I’d expect.
breakfast was exceptional the staff were first class in their manners and service level
a beautiful hotel with so much history. loved how our room was so spacious and the bathroom had a bidet. the view from the room was gorgeous . there were plenty of parking on the property.
minor things like no bellhop to carry our luggage to room epically since the elevator was out of order. there was a minor issue with the toilet the day we checked it was fixed the next day. the breakfast needs a lot of improvement; limited selection and very average. the coffee unfortunately was not good either.
Location , views, nice room, lovely breakfast .
Bit shabby in places
Everything was amazing .. good, staff , location
Location, with beautiful grounds and views over the Thames. The building had character and detailed decor which was spacious and had a relaxing feel both in the bedroom and corridors. Great breakfast with attentive staff. The spa had everything you could want and well throughout for all needs.
The restaurant had a very limited menu and portions were small.
the whole experience was lovely, we had treated ourselves to a night away for our 20year wedding aniversary. the staf were all very attentive and the room, Spa and grounds and breakfast were great.
nothing
Beautiful light lunch today and the service was excellent! Walked around the gardens.
Stunning building and grounds
My son and his girlfriend went to stay at Danesfield Hse a few weeks ago and they really enjoyed it, so my partner and I decided to go too. The house is beautiful and as it's perched on a hill, you get lovely views of the river and the countryside. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed, including robes and slippers for the spa. The staff were friendly and helpful at reception, the restaurant and the spa. We had lunch on arrival, dinner in the evening and room service breakfast the next morning. The food was excellent and it was nice to see wine from the nearby vineyard on the wine list. We enjoyed the steam room but my only criticism is that the sauna was switched off. I would definitely visit again and highly recommend going if you're looking for a relaxing weekend in tranquil surroundings.
Breakfast great and the serving staff were brilliant, really helpful and attentive
Nothing
The grounds are striking, the rooms are individually designed (ours was by a well-known French architect, Philippe Starck). Food was lovely (we had breakfast, dinner and an afternoon tea). My husband enjoyed his massage.
The swimming pool area (flooring neear the jacuzzi, showers) may need a refresh to look tidier
Beautuful hotel and grounds. Sraff couldn't do enough to help. Food amazing. Will be visiting again.
beautiful location and building
very poor service, did not feel welcome at all

Interesting property and history
The spa was ‘tired’ and jacuzzi out of order. The restaurant was overpriced and pretentious at dinner; portion sizes erratic although tasty. One main course was literally 4 x the volume of the other. Same with deserts. Quite odd and disappointing tbh. Breakfast was delicious and excellent value though.
Fine building in generally good condition. Pity about the apparently continuously 'out of order' lift but willing staff on hand to assist with baggage. Comfortable room on the first floor with superb view over the Thames valley. Excellent dinner and good breakfast. All hotel staff encountered were helpful and polite.
Worst hotel experience ever.
The staff was very professional and fantastic, the overall vibe was really nice, it was clean and the spa was great and quiet. The breakfast and coffee were also excellent. And the room view was stunning.
The shower was old school and I really struggled to get the temperature right turning both knobs. It also dripped a bit after and I couldn't make it stop. Luckily it didn't prevent us from sleeping.
Property needs updated. Food needs to be served hot. Vegetarians options very limited. Hotel very dated and expensive for what is on offer. Spa is outdated, some items not working. Not what I expected for the price.
Outdated,
Beautiful setting and grounds
Two single beds pushed together
We were very impressed with our superior room, which had a separate sitting room. The bed was very comfortable too. Worth a walk through the grounds too as nice viewing platform and rockery/pools.
Lift wasn't working.
Stayed here for my birthday not long ago, was not let down, the rooms were clean and staff were attentive.
Stayed here for two nights for our wedding anniversary. Staff were excellent. Food was sublime. Bedroom was fantastic. Absolutely fantastic venue.
De locatie. Grote en mooie kamer
Zwembad beetje verouderd. Restaurant was niet top vond ik. Ontbijt was lekker maar heb toch liever een buffet ‘d morgens
We were given a recently remodeled room and it was comfortable, quiet and efficient retreat for our 4 night stay over Easter. The spa was a perfect distraction, several exercise machines and well functioning sauna. Our meals were inventive and for the most pare delicious.
I was disappointed with my overcooked halibut meal, a beautiful piece of fish, but cooked until it was tough and chewy. The cod was cooked perfectly so maybe it was just overlooked.
Breakfast was awesome.
The views
Beautiful setting but needs some TLC
Unfortunately our facial was not very good at all We both left with face mask still on having not been taken off I was asked to open a bottle mid facial All quit clumsy and not relaxing
Comfortable with old school elegance and charm. All staff were friendly polite and very helpful throughout our stay.
Swimming before breakfast and before supper. Walks long the Thames
We have stayed here before and love the history and the setting
We upgraded to a superior room, Miles on reception checked in to make sure all was ok and it was at first , however the jacuzzi bath wasn’t working and I couldn’t wash my hair as the shower head was faulty . The lift is out of service and the jacuzzi in the gym. Miles changed our room but it was cold in there and so we had a 3rd room to stay in. It didn’t feel like the same standard of hotel that we stayed in 4 years ago. Miles did everything he could to make our stay comfortable and went to great lengths to do this . If you do stay, I would recommend a superior room, the comfort room is basic .
I visited the spa last week with a friend, and was dismayed to find that it has not been updated in years. The steam room was tired and smelt unpleasant, and the sauna very dated. On a positive note, the pool was OK, and not too busy. I found the staff of the spa reception unfriendly and inattentive, and it was very expensive for the experience. There are much better spas, with much more modern and pleasant facilities, and more helpful staff. The food choice for lunch was limited and not fitting for a spa and quite unhealthy! Overall, a very disappointing experience with rude, inattentive staff. The poolside staff were helpful though.
We had a lovely 2 night stay at Danesfield House. Reading previous reviews we were unsure what to expect. However it was one of the most memorable mini breaks my husband and I have experienced. The deluxe room was beautiful with stunning views over the gardens and The Thames. We slept so well. It was so quiet and nice and warm. The shower so powerful. The amenities in the room were sophisticated and of good quality. The gardens and grounds are impeccably maintained and we even woke to several deer grazing on the lawn this morning. We had dinner each night at the hotel and the portions were huge! We could not even manage a dessert. Breakfast was very good as well with lots of choices. We visited the Spa for a relaxing afternoon. All the staff we met were delightful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful hotel and we will be back!
The spa x bedroom and grounds
Nothing
An absolutely perfect celebration of my husband’s 60th birthday. Wonderful room, dinner, grounds .
All great!
Fantastic location, beautiful grounds with spectacular views. excellent spa facilities. Interesting building with lots of history particularly the hall and restaurants areas. Staff were friendly and welcoming.
Slightly tired soft furnishings in room and bar area
Stunning grounds - it's a really beautiful spot. Friendly and attentive staff.
NA
Despite prepaying I was charged again, no apologies just "oh it's a mistake" - the money was refundened though. Spa area is poor - sauna and steam room, jacuzzi out of service It is a beautiful location
