Very clean. Great location. Good facilities.

Except for the addition of the very welcome USB sockets the decor doesn't seem to have changed for years - perhaps due a refurb. Hotel stay itself was good value but £18 for overnight parking seems excessive.

Location is excellent. The main reception and bar area are well presented. The staff are lovely.

We had an accessible room which was a very good size. However, the room was tired and in need of refurbishment. The bed was ok but the curtains had small holes and the net curtain looked dirty. The shower was over the bath and there was no hand rail to help you climb in and out.

Beds uncomfortable. Boiling hot in the rooms only one fan which isn’t powerful. No hot water so had to have freezing cold showers which wasn’t that bad seen as we were all sweating but not what you want in a shower

The beds were terrible, double bed rock hard and the sofa bed was knackered it falling apart the sofa bed needs binding. But the beds and room and Hotel was clean friendly staff but the beds were terrible.

Location is great. Room was very good, nice size, comfortable bed, quiet.

2 minor gripes. The window didn’t have a net curtain. There are flats opposite and therefore I had to keep the curtains closed and couldn’t get any daylight in the room. The TV had no apps and just freeview channels. Felt like I was living in 2012

Didn’t use the Pool as it was a lot smaller than expected, and you need to pre book with reception. Lovely breakfast, pleasant and friendly staff. Great location.

The room and even the corridors were SO HOT! Window only opens a tiny crack and no air con. A tiny fan was provided which did nothing and we barely slept as the temperature of the room was too high, even though it wasn’t a hot day/night outside. Also keep in mind the pool is only allowed 8 people in at once, so has to be pre-booked

Pool really amazing

The staff were attentive and extremely polite. The hotel was spotless. The location was superb, in the centre of everything. The gym had everything you would need on a short stay. The pool tho small is managed well with a maximum of 8 people allowed at anytime. Superb all rounder.

City centre location, close to the train station was excellent. Check-in/out was easy, staff were friendly and accommodating. The breakfast range and quality was good, and the restaurant/bar was spacious with a decent menu. The bed was comfortable with a firm mattress, and the room was of a good size. The shower looked new and had good power, with plenty of hot water. The wifi was quick to setup and worked very well, with a large desk and comfortable office chair. The iron and board were in good condition and worked well, as did the kettle.

Although the hotel has a gym it is small, with too much disused or old equipment, and no air conditioning so it got very hot quickly. The pool is very small, more for relaxation than exercise. The room's window didn't open far and there was no air conditioning which feels poor for a hotel of this quality; the fan provided was noisy and didn't do much to cool the room overnight. The bathroom and toilet were clean but felt dated apart from the shower, and the carpets could have been cleaner (both in-room and throughout the hotel).

Un ventilateur est mis à disposition mais c'est peu efficace. Les canicules et la chaleur ont aussi envahi l'Angleterre. I La piscine n'est jamais utilisée mais il faut quand même réservé des créneaux très à l.'avance ce qui la rend difficilement utilisable

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were all so helpful. The room rate was very reasonable and we were offered an upgrade to a suite for a small extra amount and it was well worth it. The pool was warm and a great experience. The location is fantastic, with the Winter Gardens, peace garden and plenty of shops and restaurants very close by.

Great hotel, comfy beds and amazing location right in the centre of Sheffield. Asked ahead of time for a cot in room and it was delivered to room before we arrived. Easy check in and clean room. Great choice of breakfast and lovely food. Enjoyed the small swimming pool.

The rooms are quite dated, could do with a refresh for the price paid. The baby cot did not have a proper mattress, towels were put in cot for comfort however could be a hazard for babies. Booked breakfast ahead of time for the discount price of £14pp, however when showing up for breakfast no one around to take room number or welcome to a table. Could literally walk in without paying which is a bit annoying when already paid. Pre booked a slot for the pool however when arriving, it was not documented and had to choose a different time. No car parking spaces available - not the hotels fault but would be a good idea to do pre-bookings so you know if you have a space or not.

The parking. Each time you leave the car park you need to pay again. For example if you stayed for only an hour and you wanna go out with your car you’ll have to pay for I think it was 6/12 hours of parking. And then when you come back you need to pay again as you’ve come back. So it just stacks up. Ask reception they said they can’t do anything about it

There is no air conditioning throughout the hotel. We were provided with a fan but our room was still too hot. The fridge didn’t work either. We paid a premium price for an executive room because there weren’t other rooms available throughout the city centre (it was graduation week as well as the cycling Grand Prix and although we booked a month in advance it was still too late to book a good deal). The price of this room was excessive for the facilities available. We paid simply for more space, rather than a meaningful upgrade.

The public areas were lovely, the room and lack of room service let them down.

The pool was closed the whole time. My room wasn’t serviced despite me putting the sign on the door. I had to ask for towels twice, my bin emptied once and for toilet roll. There was no air in and the fan was too noisy to try to sleep with on. The fridge wasn’t plugged in when I arrived, and the safe was closed so I couldn’t use it. The hairdryer literally went bang and smelled of burning when I turned it on, then continued to hiss! I had to go to reception because I couldn’t unplug it due to a device being used to stop them being stolen. I think that’s really unsafe.

Staff were friendly, rooms were clean, location was great and gym was good as well.

Overall, everything was fine given the hotel price point, but i found that the coffee was heavily guarded by staff if you did not purchase breakfast. It significantly lowered my perspective on the level of the property. Made it feel like a 2* roadside motel in the USA. Provide coffee at reception, whether you pay for breakfast or not. Also, the windows need to open a bit further. It felt stuffy.

Convenient for the railway station and the convention centre. Clean and easy to get around hotel. Helpful staff.

The breakfast wasn't quite as good as the ones I'd had in Windermere or Newcastle. Both had more choice and better quality, the former especially so; however that was an extra £100 for the two nights and they didn't do evening meals, so you have some positives to take. The staff were helpful and polite.

The heat! Newer hotels have air chilling and while I appreciate it can be costly to retrofit, if these summers are going to become a regular occurrence, it might be advisable. The refrigerator was a bonus for keeping bottles of water and soft drinks cool - but it wasn't enough in those temperatures.

the rooms/ hallways are very tired, old and shabby looking - like they haven't been refurbished since the 70s! In particular there was no air conditioning and it was boiling in the rooms, the carpets were very old and dirty looking and the general state of the room was quite tired. I usually stay in the Ibis Marygate, which is cheaper but much much more modern! There was no water in the room so i had to go down and get some.

More healthy options for menu and breakfast would be helpful. The parking pay screen can be seen clearly from a difference and asks for reg number, email, phone number. Not great for safety if travelling alone! Strongly suggest repositioning it so it can't be seen by anyone standing nearby.

We let the staff know and they were apologetic, and even replaced all the cooked breakfast items but the food was still barely lukewarm. Presumably the hot plates don’t work.
