Staff were helpful and polite.
The TV's did not work properly and had no smart features enabled. I would expect to be able to at least screen share from my devices or at least to have access to other channels other than what used to be known as the terrestrial channels. Half the sockets did not work so I could not plug in any of my own devices if I had more than one device. The room decor was very tired and completely different to the impression you got when you entered the hotel which looks clean and modern. The safe did not work properly. The coffee was not replaced when used. There were no pillow options. There was no hairdryer in the room. You could only communicate with reception if you went down to them or by whatsapp. The phone was not answered. I was not notified before arrival that there was no restaurant or room service available in the hotel. Apparently there was an agreement with the restaurant across the road but if I had known this prior to coming I would not have booked this hotel. I would not rate this hotel to be of the quality you expect when you book a four star hotel in a city centre.
Didn’t eat breakfast
The spa is a bit grubby
Everything was brilliant. Room was lovely. Spa facilities excellent. Will definitely be back
Nothing everything excellent
Great location. Nice lobby and bar area. Beautiful winter garden next door. It was convenient having a gym available within the hotel. The room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable.
The windows in the bedroom did not open and the room was incredibly hot when the sun was shining in and the air was a bit stale. The overall cleanliness and fine details in the room could have been better. The bottom of the doors were damaged and peeling, the carpet was peeling up around the corners. There were hairs in the bathroom and the toilet didn't always flush properly.
Room comfortable...just the same as when was a Mercure. Bottle of drinking water in room.
Booked two rooms (in my name) via Booking.com guaranteed with a card*. Receptionist requested NOT to ask our colleague (who works for us) to pay when he arrived later. Repeated this several times to ensure this would not happen. Colleague arrived and was asked to pay*. Next morning, reported both problem with colleague paying, plus toiletry container in shower containing only two shampoos and a conditioner but no shower gel to same receptionist who checked us in previous day. Frustratingly no reaction and nothing was done to supply the missing shower gel. Breakfast in bar area as dining room being renovated (no sign yet of anything going on). Plates were stone-cold (if they had been kept the fridge would not have been surprising). Hot breakfast became inedible halfway through as food became stone-cold very quickly. Breakfast items were not replenished: two urns of hot water both empty. Fortunately another member of staff helped me lift one out of the way to put the full one (sitting at back of table) in it's place. Croissants ran out. Several staff members chatting together for some considerable time on other side of dining room screen(was not briefing/meeting). Two of us remarked that it was incredible that 'fried' eggs could be both overcooked (hard yolks) and undercooked (uncooked whites) at the same time. Hash browns were soggy with oil. Our room was not cleaned/made-up/restocked with tea, milk etc. although our colleague's was. There was not a 'do not disturb' on the door and room was empty for most of the day. Another receptionist, many hours later, on second visit to Reception remedied missing shower gel. Queues at reception (7 people at one time, all looking at watches etc,, trying to check out while just one receptionist every time was left to manage alone. This is apparently a four star hotel. it didn't feel like it. Would prefer to quietly this into an email instead of posting but cannot find address.
Location fabulous. Bed amazing!
Car park. Difficult for disabled access.
Excellent location, the comfiest beds and pillows. Love the hotel and come every year! We will be back again soon
Central location
Check in time is too late
Location and staff very nice . Room was a good size, reception and bar area looks good.
We booked a room for 3 people, it was set up for 2 . Had to go to reception to ask for extra towels cup and glass, and tea coffee and milk. Tv remote didn’t work got the batteries replaced by reception staff. Who wet very friendly. Breakfast facilities need updating, pump pots for hot drinks, should have coffee tea machine . Cooked breakfast holding trays were very old fashioned by the time you got to the seating area breakfast and drink was cold. Not a good breakfast it was disappointing.
Restaurant and bar nice areas still. Bed very comfy.
£50 extra deposit now expected on arrival. Key cards didn’t work, air con didn’t work, scrappy over photocopied paper with info on that wasn’t even right information. No phones in room to contact reception so constantly up and down stairs.Rooms been done up cheaply. How to use pool want clear. No signs for pool or gym in lifts but everything else listed.
The location was central.
The staff were not very friendly. The room was tired looking. The WiFi and phone signal were awful. There was a loud noise coming from the aircon vent which woke me up every night. Overall, not a good experience.
Location
No ceiling light to study
I did like everything, we had a small issue, but everything been fixed quick. Location is very good, all around the hotel was places to eat, it is like in town centre. Swimming pool/spa was nice to enjoy Recommended
Everything
Very very expensive as as addin
Paid a deposit on arrival and still haven’t received it back a week later
Location
Security of hotel. Anyone could walk in off the street and access lifts to bedrooms. There should be key card access to lifts. Insufficient hooks for towels in bathroom
Location
I am disabled and put on the sixth floor if there was a fire i would ve trapped, coffee station had not been replenish, tv remote did not work, reading light did not work, reception staff not a quick check in qued for 15 minutes had booked early check in to be told on arrival can not have room till 3pm, breakfast not replenish very well and hot produce dried up like it at been there for hours. Stayed here before under mercure and was very good expected better from IHG as all there other hotels are for better managed and usually you cannot fault but this site needs seriously looking at.

Location, staff, ambience of the hotel, cleanliness, staff friendliness
Parking location was a bit off putting as we arrived late at night during our stay and there were people clapping in the shadows, not sure what was going on. Toilet was hard to flush and black bits kept filling the bowl The air con seemed to be on during the day but at night it's became rather warm. Location of the TV was at an odd angle as well.
Central to the city , carpark very close by great choice at breakfast
Nothing
Lovely staff, great facilities, location & views. Spacious room with bath, shower & fridge.
Toilet flush was sticking a bit which made it hard to flush.
the location
the rooms were outdated and the furniture had stains from wear and tear i assume or mould.. cleaners didn't clean rooms properly either
Location is excellent. Staff super helpful. Room spacious, clean and well equipped.
X
Very comfy beds. Excellent location. Lovely bar/reception area. Pool a good size.
Bathroom and spa area rather tired. Needs repainting and minor repairs.
Location great. Comfortable room. Excellent shower. Staff helpful. Reasonable price.
WiFi a bit spotty. Spa not as good as hoped for.
Great location and great spa
Breakfast could be better
Location
Good location. Pleasant rooms
Bathroom wasn't very clean
Good location
Not enough staff. Rooms small and outdated.
Ideal location beautiful corner room with views excellent access to spa felt open clean and spacious throughout
Restaurant very average .
The bed was so comfy
Aircon didn’t work, did ask to fix but didn’t get an update
Very little noise in the rooms
3 out of 4 rooms the air con did not work, rooms were 28c and reception only offered a fan ! Rooms not very hygienic, glass had hand prints, human hairs around room, not cleaned to a high standard. 2 star hotel at best, on par with a motorway travelodge.
Location facilities superb staff
No telephone in the room but a minor issue.
All of it
just understanding where the entrance was not very clear from main road
Clean
Nothing
Back in December I booked a night’s stay in this hotel for this weekend. All set to go…and I thought I’d check directions etc. Turns out it isn’t a Mercure any more, and is not part of the Accor group! I have had no information either from Accor/Mercure or the new owners. Accor were not able to advise me of whether my booking was carried over to the new owners, and were not even able to give me details of those new owners. So I have cancelled everything and binned my All Accor membership. Very poor.
Great location and very modern
Lacking simple things like a towel rail. Only one biscuit and two teabags in room
Thursday early morning receptionist was incredibly friendly and helpful. Room clean and spacious.
At no point was it obvious or written down that I couldn't take my two sixteen year olds to the pool at 7am. I specifically chose this hotel because of the pool. Going to the pool first was the plan for the day. Sixteen year olds that are nearly seventeen are not children. They are not little, loud children that are more likely to potentially cause issue for other swimmers. Going down at 7am and being turned away was frustrating, annoying and put a negative aspect to our trip to Sheffield for the first time.
Entrance was very modern, great location
Bedroom decor does not match the hotel entrance and vibe. Not old fashioned with the wood
The property was very central, overlooking the Millennium Gardens. It was light , airy and very spacious. The shower in the room was really good and the bed extremely comfortable.
The bedroom whilst spacious was rather outdated and in need of some modernisation.
Location was great, staff were really helpful and friendly. Especially Morina (think that was her name) she was lovely.
Nothing
The room was spotless, the bed was soo comfy, and right in the town so great location
There is no parking on site, was given a discount for local parking but this was not accessible due to the roads being closed and was not informed of this when I called ahead
The reception staff were so wonderful and lovely and made our little baby and us feel so welcome. Beds were super comfy and rooms really big, amazing that it’s next to winter gardens!
The swimming pool needs a bit of a revamp
Had a great 1 night stay, with friendly staff, easy check in, great city location, really good buffet breakfast & quiet interconnecting rooms with air con.
Tv in one of the rooms didnt work properly & one of the mattresses was saggy, both of which reported to reception, but these didnt spoil our 1 night stay.
The spa was amazing and the beds was very comfortable.
No parking
We loved absolutely everything about it. Even met Bradley Walsh here so bonus.
There wasn't one thing we didn't like.
This place is very comfortable and has a great location right in the centre of the city. There is a spa on site which is included in the price and a great way to spend an hour or so at the end of a busy day.
It was nice and clean but it is a joke. They have no car parking so I had to pay £25 to put it in a multistorey car park when the hotel should pay for this as it’s expensive enough per night as it is never mind paying for car park

The location of this property and the size of the room
The property feels very dated and was not cleaned to a high standard
The breakfast was good and the beds comfortable. The reception staff were lovely and the location was great.
The rooms were very hot with no air-conditioning and unable to open a window. The male housekeeper on Monday 27th July had not washed, he left the rooms and coridor smelling awful. Everyday there were trays of food and wet towels etc lying on the coridor floors, not cleared away. The pool and spa are very tired. Visible mould and mould smelling steam rooms. It desperately needs refurbishing throughout. The lady at the bar on Friday 24th july was struggling to pour a pint of beer, flicking foam out with a straw, something I have never seen before. On the whole, I feel the standards of the hotel should have been better based on the cost of the rooms.
Bed and bedding so comfy
Receptionist was not very helpful and appeared uninterested
My friends and I booked for spa experience and afternoon tea. Aromatherapy spa room need more essential oil in it. Afternoon tea sandwiches were fresh. Scones were rock hard and the mini cakes were even harder - we didn’t attempt to eat them. Renata ( apologises if I’ve spelt her name wrong) was very attentive and polite.
Spa Day Spa very tired- definitely in need of an upgrade
The room was very big and comfortable. The staff were friendly. The location was great for trams and trains.
It would have been good to have more than two teabags, and decaf would have been even better,
Location was superb, walkable to the main shopping area ie The Moor. Many cafes nearby, with Tesco Express also within walking distance.
The room was great wirh air condition. However , there was no mini fridge in room.
Have stayed several times before in the past year. Very central Sheffield location. Discounted overnight parking a few mins walk away at the Arundel Gate car park.
Avoid! Remembering that the mid-week overnight stay cost us £199 for the room for the night. We checked in and had a shower...the shower flooded the bathroom. Reception moved us to a different room on the same floor. Went to bed and woke at 2am with the room being very hot, over 24c. The aircon did not work in the room and wouldn't allow us to alter the temp.. Neither did several light bulbs in the lamps and an empty shower gel. Reception could only give us the key to the previous room to sleep. Went back to that room to continue sleep from 2am-7am and then back into the second room we'd been allocated to shower before leaving. A real shame as we visit Sheffield often to visit family and will not be staying here again.
Location
No access to reception or anyone from the hotel to discuss booking or request the suggested upgrades-voco themselves are a call centre who have little information and no influence on room allocation specifics.Hopeless communication.Hotel reception staff are excellent but no direct phoneline to them is accesible Poor
Location, service, staff
The voco hotel has a very good features , it's a very good location it's near winter garden, many shops and restaurants around the hotel , also train station only 5 minutes away.
Nothing i have to added.
Everything specially the pool and spa
to take photo at pool 😃
Warm welcoming staff. Lovely bar. Great location.Good value for money.
Rooms could have been a little bigger.
Great location, comfortable room, helpful reception staff and excellent bar staff
N/A
Large quiet room in a central location
One of the towels was stained. The air conditioning did not seem to work.
Nicely refreshed
The location was perfect as we went to see the snooker
They kept running out of drinks behind the bar. Considering it’s one of the busiest times of the year when the snooker is on you would think they would be better stocked
Location and reception area as this has been updated.
Breakfast was ok at best, the coffee is rubbish. Room: The shower was blocked, the wifi didn't really work, the television was so old, the room was too hot and when I asked for a fan I didn't receive one.
The location
the room was extremely disappointing. I had even requested a nice room as it was my birthday, but instead I was given what felt like the worst room. When we entered, the main light wasn't working, so the room was dark from the start. The air conditioning also wasn't working. I reported the issue to reception twice, and each time I was promised that someone would come and fix it, but nobody ever did. To make matters worse, we woke up the next morning to water leaking from the ceiling. I couldn't believe how awful the room was, especially considering how much we paid. For the price of such an expensive room, these issues are completely unacceptable. Overall, the location was the only positive. The condition of the room, the lack of maintenance, and the poor response from staff made for a very disappointing stay. I would not expect this standard from a hotel charging these prices.
Lovely hotel. The staff were very helpful and professional. Sayid was an incredible host nothing was too much trouble.
Fantastic staff, lovely hotel & room, perfect location
Location and staff - all super friendly and helpful especially the bar staff. I had a lovely meal in the restaurant.
I had booked a premium room with one room but my first room was a twin and definitely not premium on the fourth floor - thankfully I complained but had to come down to do so as no one answered the phone - my new room was really lovely - had I not changed rooms I would not have chosen the Vocco again for future stays. The pool and changing rooms are very dated - although the steam room was good. Breakfast looked a bit sad - limited choice and not very inviting - so I didn’t bother with it and went out instead.
I’ve stayed here before on a couple of occasions and always loved it for its location, cleanliness and overall service
I can’t fault
close to train station close to parks and the hotel itself has it own Like Kee Garden
the beds are soft its because i liked firm bed although it depends on every ones preference Ghe Duvet is a bit noisy Over all spacious room very clean and tidy
Bed was comfy
Internet didn’t work, no fridge, air con had to be repaired, standard of service has fallen No telephone to contact front desk or through tv
Location was good, bed was comfy, bathroom had separate bath and shower, large swimming pool, fridge in room.
WiFi signal was very poor in the room, as well as my phone signal (not hotel fault), which meant that I basically had no internet access in my room. Staff at check-in was a bit difficult. They couldn’t find my booking, apparently my first name was filled in was my last name. They didn’t ask or mention anything about the leisure facilities e.g. where they were, opening/closing times, or the fact they existed at all. They also didn’t mention the WiFi. Two small things. One of the walls in the room was very worn with a large mark over it. I would’ve thought they could paint over it or add a painting or furnishing over it so that it was obscured. The room came with some nespresso pods which was nice, but I would have liked a small label/menu so I knew what the pods were e.g. decaf.
The bed was a dream and so was the duvet. Slept really well.
1. Can't understand why the disabled rooms are so far from the lift. I walk with a stick and I was out of breath by the time I reached my room. 2. The chairs are uncomfortable. You would expect being in a disabled room they would be a bit bigger. 3. The hotel was changing owners when I arrived. One morning there was a banging on my door. Workmen were changing the numbers on the door. They didn't even knock first to see if the room was occupied. Scared the hell out of me before I opened the door. 4. There are no instructions on how to work the Heating/ air con, television. You would think that every room would have an instructions booklet.
Excellent location, facilites, services and staff
Olive oil was not available in the breakfast!!
Staff were friendly and very helpful location very good.
Breakfast was all over cooked. Air-conditioning wasn't that good.
Location, facilities, child-friendly
Nothing
I liked it's location, everything so handy. The staff were very nice, kind and helpful.
The only thing I didn't like is if you don't go early for the breakfast, then you will miss most of the menus. They don't refill.
Fijn locatie midden in de stad - dichtbij alle voorzieningen en het station. Ruime kamer met een zitje - heel comfortabel.
niks
Location was in a lovely part of the city, very quiet and close to everything needed. The room was spacious and had every amenity one needed, the bed was big a cosy. Breakfast was nice.
The breakfast items would run low/out, maybe restock a little more frequently.
Everything
The sliding door to the wet room which we reported as being v hard to move
Nicest duvet ever!
Nothing
The staff were great.
The rooms were far too warm and it wasn't even that warm out. The extractor fan in the batgroom wasn't working. The pillows were far too big and gave me neck ache.
Breakfast and clean room
Directed to wrong car park, told Charles street on all email confirmation, to get the discount. Wrong details given so paid the full price for parking . No wi fi portals in the room , no adapters so could not charge the phones
The location and view were excellent, the staff were friendly
Good
Staff
Very nice area
Not really nice room and restaurant 😕
The location is brilliant we gave stayed in this hotel about 5 times.
When we turned up it was the day of a new company taking over the hotel, there was works vans around the side which i couldn't drive up as I was told I could park my car there as im disabled. The whole hotel looked tired cupboard doors hanging off etc which i did report to reception because it didn't look good. The cupboard in question was near the bar so everyone would walk by it. We " my Mrs and I felt a little let down which I hope was a one off because we do love this hotel.
Dog friendly and very comfy room, very clean
The location is perfect for exploring the city. The room was spacious and comfortable, cleaned daily to a high standard. Breakfast was good and staff friendly. The reception staff attempted to solve issues, even under obvious stress.
No rooms were ready and we were told we'd have to wait until the evening. Luckily I managed to get one earlier and raced in to start a business video call. But the WiFi wouldn't stay connected and the meeting was impossible to hold. There was no WiFi in the bar either, so it was cash only which made things awkward for our group. My room didn't have a full size mirror, required for dressing to host an event. Just a bathroom mirror. Staff eventually tried to source a mirror, of which there were none available, or exchange my room, but the alternative options were either missing a fridge and still no mirror, or with mirror but no fridge or clothes hanging facilities or air con. It's a real shame as I've been coming here for a few years, but the lack of WiFi (even after the bar seemed to rectify theirs) and other amenities means I'll likely stay and entertain elsewhere in future.
My room was very big, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. In the room was a table and 2 chairs and a desk with a chair. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided. The location was excellent, only minutes walk away from the station, restaurants and SADDACA where my convention was being held. The restaurant area was very beautiful with lots of natural light and a covered walkway outside where exotic plants could grow in the sheltered conditions.
The breakfast was just about OK, looked like it had been out awhile and my fish and chips the night before was OK but not excellent. I avoided the cooked breakfast on the Sunday opting for fruit and toast but the fruit looked like it had been put away on Saturday and brought out again on Sunday.
Great location and lobby area / restaurant welcoming. Staff lovely Breakfast looked very good.
The word ‘premium’ needs to be removed. It sets expectations. Just leave it as ‘double room’ - very tired, soulless, felt empty, no full length mirror or doors on wardrobes which was a bit odd. Very expensive for the room but it was the festival so I appreciate room prices double during that period. Perhaps at £120 it would be ok. At £220 it definitely wasn’t.
Great location next to the peace gardens and the staff were friendly
Our standard room looked tired but that’s reflected in the price
Location and quiet
Nothing
My wife and I stayed here for 1 night on Saturday 6th June after it was recommended by a family member. The hotel has now become part of the IHG group and is now called voco .On arrival we found that the room we had booked was no longer available and we were upgraded to a queen size room situated on level 5 which had 2 double beds, walk in shower, separate bath ,seating ,huge television and view overlooking the winter garden.Room was very clean and all fittings etc very well maintained ,overall very happy with room and front desk staff who were all very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was amazing, great seating area next to the winter gardens and basically everything you could wish for again friendly staff ,very clean and pleasant. The bar area was spacious and very relaxing only missing a cocktail menu ..minor detail though. Look forward to staying again ,well done and thank you to all the staff .
Been before and great location for wedding at the town hall
My bathroom flooded after one shower, and no one came to clean on my second day so had a damp bathroom and no dry towels
Location, room, facilities, view were all great
