The whole place has an amazing friendly feel to it. Would definitely go again! A ten minute walk to the centre.Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and definitely go the extra mile!

The room was excellent (Queens I think), large bed and very comfortable. Shower was good. Work station very functional, well designed. On site parking for just under £19 was actually good value as I could leave it till midnight the day after - good value for York. Not used a Novotel for many years, I will in future.

The check-in process was the longest we've ever experienced. The reception staff were excellent, but the company needs to allow them to speed the booking in process up.

Clean, decent sized room.

Room was far too warm even though the Aircon was set to the lowest temp. Only one large towel between two adults. Booked the sauna and the pool but you only get a 30 minute slot. Honestly wouldn't rush back.

Stuffy room. Damp smell. We were in a dog friendly room... but our dog doesnt smell... but walked in to a stuff wet dog smell room. Someone could have opened the window to air it out at least which is what we did. Bed sheets werent clean and nasty marks on the sofa... just paid way too much for something very unpleasent

Online check in advised room would be ready from 3pm so arrived for then and made plans around it. Room wasn’t ready until 4:30.

Room not the cleanest. Found litter under the bed from previous occupants and the carpet badly stained. Breakfast not included and we decided to pay for it but was very average for the price.

I have cleaned in a Novotel before and was amazed if what is marked or dirty. They used to have high standards at one time. Arrived into the bedroom. The first thing was the smell of the sink. It was like sewer smell. This lasted all week. Blockage. Around the plug holes were brown. Carpet dirty and stained. Corridor carpet stained. Apart from these things, ok ish. I have stayed there 3 times now. Don't think I will be coming back. Stayed in Paris novotel last year. Spotless. It makes such a difference.

The location is good, a 10 min walk into the centre and on the river. The staff were lovely.

My stay was not great though as the room was dirty and nothing special but I paid nearly £300 for one night. We spontaneously stayed an extra night in York at the premier inn and it was much cleaner, cheaper and right in town.

We didn’t so li h like the toilet being separate from the bathroom, especially as it has no sink which meant going from the loo the the bathroom to wash hands each time. Ordered coffee - very weak and badly made, which surprised us.

Really nice hotel, good location as the centre of the city is only a 10/15 walk. The facilities were good, breakfast is probably not worth the £17 unless you really do all you can eat ( it's help yourself).

£18.50 per day for the car park is a little steep as the hotel is not on the cheap side.

Arrived after a long journey to a reception full of wedding guests. Told the room wasn’t ready even though we had an email confirming it would be. Told us another room was ready but upgrade would cost £20. We had no choice but to pay as there was nowhere to sit in reception/at the bar.

Not much very disappointed.

The staff check in. The rooms. The breakfast. The children's sofa bed has a curve. You can only use the pool for 30 mins and have to wait for a timed slot. Check in isn't until 1630. Parking at the hotel is expensive. Very negative experience!

The rooms had everything you could need. The staff were really helpful and took the time to greet you and ask about your day. All items at breakfast time are clearly labelled with allergens. The choice is fantastic. We ate at the restaurant one evening and great choice including gluten free options. During the summer on alternate Wednesdays they have a bbq and a singer which has a great atmosphere. The pool and sauna are a lovely addition and a bonus after a long day exploring the city. Important to book a slot for the pool each day.

Some areas are starting to show wear and tear. The bath is very slippery to get out of especially when using the shower and having to step out of the high edges. A bath mat or anti slip coating would help.

Breakfast was great, parking was good, staff is very friendly and the room is great. Wifi speed was fine. We like the location as it's on walking distance from the centre and easy to reach by car.

The shampoo/ soap bottles in the shower are hard to use. This time we came prepared and brought our own :-).

Quizás diría que el tema de la bañera es algo incómodo, prefería plato ducha en el aseo. Pero tampoco llega a ser un problema.

Petit déjeuner très bien, proche du centre de York avec un parking. Parfait pour une découverte de la ville et des vacances en famille. Pas de bruit de voiture et endroit assez calme.

Beaucoup d'activité dans l'hôtel ce qui le rend parfois bruyant mais uniquement dans l'entrée de l'hôtel.

Het personeel van het hotel was supervriendelijk en behulpzaam. Als gast voel je jezelf gelijk al welkom. Ook de dames van het restaurant supervriendelijk en als het rustig was ook nog tijd voor een praatje. Je voelt jezelf in het hotel gelijk al thuis. De kamer had een prachtig design en was zeer goed verzorgd. Een zeer comfortabel bed met daarvoor een grote flatscreen tv. De badkamer zeer schoon. Het beschikte zelfs over een ligbad. Ook een raam in de kamer met in mijn geval uitzicht op het voorterrein. De kamer was ook heel rustig. Geen last gehad van lawwaai. Beneden bij de receptie bevind zich ook een gezellige bar en lounche, en daarachter een ruim restaurant waar je kan dineren en/of ontbijten. Het ontbijt in de ochtend is zeer goed verzorgd. Het is een buffet waarbij een ruime keus is aan heerlijke gerechten. En 's avonds na uit te zijn geweest in de stad nog heerlijk zwemmen in het binnenbad van het hotel. Overdag is het toegankelijk voor gezinnen met kinderen, en in de avond na 20:30 toegankelijk voor volwassenen. Heel druk was het er niet in de avond. Heerlijk rustig baantjes trekken. Het beschikt ook over een sauna, maar die was volgens mij niet open...althans, ik heb er geen gebruik van gemaakt. Het hotel ligt bovendien op ongeveer 15 minuten loopafstand van de oude binnenstad en de York Minster en alle bezienswaardigheden. Dus alles ook makkelijk te voet te bereiken. Kortom....een fantastisch verblijf gehad. En als ik de mogelijkheid had om dit hotel sterren te geven dan zou ik het 5 sterren geven🙂

Ik kan niets bedenken wat in dit hotel tegen zou moeten vallen.

Leggermente fuori dal centro ma raggiungibile con 10 minuti di passeggiata quindi posizione eccellente, colazione sia dolce che salata davvero soddisfacente. Abbiamo usufruito una sera del ristorante interno e l'abbiamo trovato carino.

Nessuna insonorizzazione tra camera e bagno ma soprattutto tra camera e camera!!! e la cosa per un Novotel è davvero inaccettabile. La nostra camera si trovava al primo piano e dava sul locale immondizia certo in camera ci si va solo per dormire in vacanza ma non era proprio il massimo.

The room was a good size (albeit the shower area small) and the hotel is within walking distance to the centre of the city. Car parking is available (for an exorbitant price) on site and there is a pool. Breakfast had good variety and quality and the staff are pleasant. Hotel getting close to needing a refurbishment.

4.30 pm check-in is ridiculous for a hotel chain and hotel of this size with the reception staff unwilling to book us in even 12 minutes early, which we then needed to wait until 4.45pm for get our key. The booking system for the swimming pool that requires basically a 'waiver' form being signed before you could use and they booked 10 others in our time slot for this small swimming pool - could not 'swim' from one end to the other. This hotel gives all the impression that the quest needs to do the work - self check in self check out, pay for the parking and at the same time be given the least amount of service and time at the property as possible.

Sadly, we had guests above us banging around up until midnight. The rooms aren't carpeted and that adds to the noise problem. We always strip the beds after our stay to make it a little easier for staff. We found that the mattress protector was stained!

Breakfast was lovely. Ice for fruit juice a lovely touch. Staff are very friendly and attentive.

The swimming pool was not clean or maintained, water was dirty and had little or no chlorine. The bedsheets were food stained which I don’t mention as it wasn’t a big deal as it was quite late at night and the hotel looked short staffed.

A lovely and clean hotel with friendly staff. Good location for visiting, a short walk into centre.. Parking was a great price, it gives you the full day/evening you arrive as well as the following full day.

A fab nights stay in mid-August 2026. Being able to book and use the swimming pool was great. Staff were really helpful and informative, loved being able to WhatsApp with questions during the stay - great idea. Amazing breakfast!

Not very much to say here. The room was great, very comfortable beds. Pool was great too. It was super busy around our check-in time but we were able to play pool in reception and chill out while we waited.

Reception team was very disappointing. Not providing the correct information about the time of the swimming pool and or the car park codes. If you want to book or contact the receptionist it’s through a WhatsApp number via text. They don’t always check the messages and you have to go to the reception desk and talk directly with them. Waited 25 minutes for a reply. They weren’t even busy, they were chatting and on their personal phones. They failed to give me the correct information 4 times and one of the team members didn’t have any problem in throwing one of her colleagues under the bus….so much for teamwork.
