The location and the amenities

The breakfast was, to be honest, not good at all. The quality of the food was below average. More importantly I went to breakfast at 7.30 am and at 8 am for 2 days, food trays were almost empty without any sign of refill, no fruits, stale breads.. If they are offering “free buffet breakfast” as advertisement, they have to put some efforts on it.

It did the trick for our quick one-night stay, on our way further up to the northern part of the island. I and my kids enjoyed a short evening stroll to the DQ up the street for a treat. Breakfast was fine - very typical with scrambled eggs, bacon, cubed potatoes, bread we could toast, yogurt, bananas - good to start the day with a meal and coffee. Our room was comfortable and the bathroom was nice.

Nothing really to complain about. Parking was tight due to the fact there were spots earmarked for some worker-trucks doing upgrades to the building's exterior, but we managed to find a free one.

The TV was annoying. Every time we turned the volume up or down, or changed channels it kept telling us what the volume was as and what channel we were on. I don’t like when a tv explains everything.

breakfast was very nice, the beds were very comfortable, the staff were very helpful considering that Lilja is wheelchair bound and as we take a patient lift with us it is important that the the lift legs will fit under the bed.

floor coverings in wheelchair accessible rooms for us need to be hardwood rather than carpeted because the patient lift is difficult to push over carpet. Perhaps a carpet similar to the hotel's dining area would be better.

The hotel has a nice location, close to a grocery store and restaurants. It has a large parking lot. The room was spacious, clean, and well-equipped.

The breakfast was a bit modest.

Receptie personeel zeer behulpzaam! Perfecte slaapplek om meerdere dagen te verblijven. Schoon, grote en lekkere bedden, en zag er allemaal keurig uit. Badkamer ook zeer netjes.

Ontbijt is oké, maar kan een heel stuk beter. Veel niet aanwezig. 1 personeelslid die alles bij moest houden.

I was disappointed with my recent stay at the Best Western The Westerly Hotel in Courtenay. The breakfast was quite basic and did not meet my expectations. Unfortunately, the room was also less comfortable than anticipated. The mattress was noticeably bumpy, and the bedding appeared worn and was quite itchy. I changed the flat sheet, but the replacement bedding was still uncomfortable. My biggest concern, however, was the cleanliness of the bathroom. There was visible mold in the shower, as shown in the attached photo. It was quite noticeable and gave me the impression that the shower had not been cleaned thoroughly.

AC was terrible! Very noisy.kept me awake all night! Kept cutting out an out and going on constantly. Worst sleep ever. Certainly not worth what I paid for it!

The hotel is located in a good location close to any necessities.

Very average hotel, maybe even below the average. No pool, nothing really special about the hotel except good employees. Hotel needs a renovation if they want to continue to charge $300 a night for a dark room.

Honestly, wanted to stay here again because of the great breakfast kept. Unfortunately, not anymore. Only half of the selection than before. I won’t be coming back. Nothing special about this hotel anymore. Dated paint colour and carpets. Hallways and stairwells are borderline creepy. Also, tub stopper was broken, so couldn’t have a relaxing bath.

Good location. Beds were comfy! Breakfast food was varied and tasted good, but staff was minimal and very overworked!

The towels were very thin.

A good central location close to many shops and easy access to major highways. Room was very spacious and clean. Breakfast was ok, coffee good though we expected more fruit.

The bathroom was growing mould. Dirty tiles, door chipping paint. A little rough for wear. On top of this, the breakfast was disappointing as they only had one staff member trying to manage it and kept running out. Not having a functioning restaurant onsite was also kind of a pain.

I have an allergy to fragrance so I wish the towels were fragrance free.

Breakfast on the first morning did not include a meat protein. The shower curtain in the bathroom smelled. The exit from the building to access highway 19A was awkward, first time google had us doing a u-turn.

King bed was comfortable. Large fridge was appreciated.

Pop machine on main floor needs to be updated!! It only takes cash.,which is very inconvenient. After getting change from the front desk, the machine had a barrier that prevented me from getting the cans out! Had to get assistance from an employee. Breakfast was ok, but no fruit offered.

It was good. A bit dated...but the bed and pillows were 100%... what more do we need!!

Location was ok being near supermarket, restaurants, and riverside walk. The woman at reception on arrival was very good. Car parking wasn’t a problem.

Balcony view was awful. Room was tired. Breakfast area was pretty grim. Items ran out and weren’t quickly replaced. Food itself was ok eg orange juice and granola.

The property overall is very dated, outside of the property was unclean. The breakfast was well below average, very limited options. The restaurant is closed which was disappointing as we chose this hotel because it had an onsite restaurant. Luckily the friendly staff told us about Browns Social House across the highway which serves a fabulous meal.

The way the workers try to leverage you into the Best Western membership is super lame. Clearly, Best Western is pressuring them to do it, and they are doing it in really bad ways. Saying yes to early entrance and an hour previously, then making me wait 35 minutes after saying it was ready, and then, when they are about to check me in, trying to charge me an early check-in fee unless I sign up. Then, when I challenge the fact that was never mentioned, the response is that every hotel charges an early check-in fee as though it's my problem; I didn't assume they would charge me more. I get it. if theres a charge, just tell me, and when I feel like I was manipulated, at least offer some sort of acknowledgment. You might as well stay at a budget hotel; at least the price will match

Room had an odour, restaurant closed with no explanation or warning.

Not much choices and to wait for fresh cooked food.

Booking the room the site didn't give the option of saying you had a pet. The rooms for pets had carpet and you could see all the pee stains. NO CARPET would be better and easier to keep clean.

Location was perfect! Close to town and highway entrances, but not too much traffic noise. There is a river walk that starts under the bridge behind the hotel and walks around the private airport and bay that was just the right length to get some exercise before tucking in for the night.

We were the first of several 'pet friendly' rooms so activity by our door was constant and noisy and we were quite close to the bar so there was a slight din from the chatter and pool tables until it closed. The door to the patio was rickety and felt like it could easily be breached. Luckily I had built in security. Good dog!

Kleines Bad. Das Frühstück ist recht übersichtlich. Die Auswahl ist sehr gering und es fehlte immer etwas. Mal die Kaffeetassen, dann die Gläser für den Juice oder die Kartoffeln. Früchte gab es gar keine, obwohl eine Schale dafür vorgesehen ist. Das hatten wir in anderen Best Western schon deutlich besser.

I have stayed here several times. Every stay has been great. I would like to know where I can purchase some of those pillows. I booked the room on the fly through a booking site. I was told that I could not use my Best Western points program for this. I planned to stay at this hotel, not because of the booking app. Would be nice to be able to get some bonus points.

Location, breakfast buffet, Chalk Billiards and Flying Canoe right downstairs. Easy access to downtown and all amenities. Staff are courteous and helpful as well. Rooms are clean and spacious.

The lighting is the only thing I would say is the worst part. Those white, LED lights in all the fixtures cast a very cold, uninviting glow in the room. Its like fluorescent. Yuck.

I only stayed in the hotel one night before heading off on a photography trip. The room was spacious and the ensuite bathroom a good size. I didn't use any facilities within the hotel and checked out before breakfast, so can't comment on any food. Reception was staffed 24/7 so the early check out wasn't a problem.

The room seemed a bit grubby, the carpets. Otherwise it was mediocre. Not a very nice location. An East Indian man approached my car when I drew up but then quickly left, but as I checked in he went out to meet a young woman and it looked like she may have been a hooker, which I found uncomfortable in that establishment, but I can't be sure. It was 2.00 a.m.

Clean room, good breakfast, great amenities. This Best Western is a good property. Just wish it had a pool than it would be perfect.

Found hairs all around toilet when I first entered and used the washroom.

The hotel was showing its age a bit, the carpets weren’t the cleanest but the beds sheets and bathroom were clean and to me that’s most important.

Included breakfast was excellent. Also across the street from a small plaza with a restaurant and grocery store.

Would be a great location except that we needed to get to the ferry in Comox the next morning and traffic is gridlocked between the two cities due to construction on the 2 major connecting roads. The construction is supposed to end in a month or two but has wrecked havoc on residents and tourists as it has gone on for several years. .

Ruby at the Front Desk is delightful and welcomed us warmly. She answered our questions and gave us suggestions for dinner. She is an excellent ambassador for the hotel.

Large clean room

Centrally located in the Comox Valley. There are plenty of places to eat nearby. The neighbourhood is very walkable. There is a nice spa across the street. Staff are young, friendly and very helpful.

Chose this hotel mainly for the pub/restaurant, would definitely stay here again

Best Western the Westerley is well located in Courtenay. We found it very central for visiting with family in Comox or sightseeing in the area. There are lots of dining options in easy walking distance. Our room was huge, comfortable and clean.

The food and service at Chalk was excellent! We especially enjoyed the common area and used it every day to meet with family. Thank you for the lovely breakfast!
