Reviewed Sep 4, 2026Location, as right next to our wine tour meeting place. Clean and had a modern feel to it. Comfortable bed and good bathroom facilities. Although the room was small, we were not intending on spending any long periods of time in there as this was just a 1 night stop. We were warmly welcomed by Yoann on arrival at reception. Smooth check in and check out in the morning. Breakfast was self service with plenty of choice, although the scrambled egg had run out and wasn’t rep,enished. We were able to leave our suitcases whilst on our wine tour. Yoann also arranged a taxi for us for our I ward travel.

Die Parksituation, Hotel bietet keine Hilfe an, die Koffer in die Dependance am Papstpalast zu bringen. Mühevolles Ziehen der Koffer über altes Kopfsteinpflaster!! Für ältere Menschen eine fast nicht zu bewältigende Situation. Unser Zimmer 512 hatte einen sehr hohen Einstieg in die Badewannendusche. Wiederum für ältere oder gar behinderte Menschen nicht benutzbar!! Außerdem war die Toilette so eng in eine Ecke verbaut, dass die Benutzung sehr unkonfortabel war. Manchmal haben wir denEindruck, dass Booking com. Kunden immer die schlechtesten Zimmer bekommen.

Tired & worn looking place with threadbare carpets & dips in the carpets which sometimes tripped our footing. Coffee & tea facilities etc were poor. Taking the suitcases to the room especially over the steps towards our room was very difficult without any help from staff.

The air conditioning worked fine and kept us cool during a particularly vicious heatwave. Hi tech drinking water machines close to our rooms. The funny and helpful Ioannes (spelling sorry!?) greeted us on reception - a living legend. Mercure!, give him a raise!

Parking was a real struggle and my 8 year daughter and I had to struggle with 2 large suitcases to get to the car park from the hotel when we were checking out. The receptionist on duty in the morning of August 11 - Stephanie - was cold, unfriendly and unhelpful! The male receptionist who was on duty the night I checked in was equally unhelpful !

Fassade ist sehr, sehr schmutzig. Im hinteren Teil liegt Abfall in den Aussparungen der Fassade (z.T. gebrauchte Nespresso Kapseln und Papiermüll, obwohl es im Zimmer keine Nespresso Maschine gab!). Mein Zimmer wurde trotz Schild an der Tür nicht aufgeräumt bzw gereinigt! Zugang zum Zimmer war zeitweise nur mit Personal möglich, da das Interne IT System wohl nicht funktionierte.

Reviewed Jun 25, 2026The hotel was a great combination of local flavor, perfect location and overall nice hotel. It’s not the highest end hotel but that is not what we wanted. We wanted that French historic hotel feel, and that’s what we got. It had the spiral staircase, small elevators, great breakfast and excellent staff - in particular Bilal who was the front desk clerk for the graveyard shift. Because of jet lag, I would wake up very early and spend an hour or so talking with Bilal about Avignon and suggested places to visit. He was so helpful, nice and knowledgeable. If you’re looking for a good hotel in the heart of old Avignon with a great staff, I would highly recommend this hotel! We will certainly be going back to Avignon and staying at this hotel again.

Reviewed May 29, 2026First, the staff were exceptional. Both Stephenie & Ghozlane were welcoming, helpful, hospitable & friendly. The location is fantastic, right beside the Palais de Pâpes. We had a lovely corner room on the 5th floor with a view of the Palais. The breakfast was good, buffet selection of fruit, breads & pastries, eggs & sausages etc. Check in is 2pm which is early for hotels in France. Make sure you have the correct address for the taxi as there are 2 Mercure hotels very close to each other - they are within walking distance of each other but a bit of a hike with luggage. Staff however helped us with our luggage when we were dropped off at the incorrect address.
Nothing…………other reviewers complain that the hotel is shabby & needs maintenance & updating. May be true but I will take location & helpful staff anyway over appearance

During our trip we stayed in six different hotels, and unfortunately this was by far the worst one. The room was extremely small — with three people it was difficult even to move around comfortably. The bathroom was also incredibly cramped; both the shower and toilet were so tight that you practically had to enter sideways. The bathroom fixtures were in poor condition, the towel hooks were broken, and the renovation looked very careless, with paint smeared in many places. Overall, the hotel felt untidy and poorly maintained. The carpet in the room was also so dirty that I honestly felt uncomfortable walking on it.

After our first night we discovered in the morning that there virtually was no water pressure in the shower, so they moved us to a different room. We had a beautiful view of the Pope’s Palace. The hotel needs some renovations. Everything is a bit banged up. But as said, the location is the best and the staff are all very friendly and helpful.

Warm water was off in the 4th floor and it only returned late around midnight so i was not able to take my deserved early shower after a long day of work. Breakfast would be better if it contains already boiled eggs.. i found it not practical at all to self boil the eggs while others can take it intentionally or by mistake.

Reviewed May 12, 2026Die Lage zum Stadtzentrum ist ausgezeichnet. Frühstück okay, wobei bereits um 10:00 mit den Reinigungsarbeiten begonnen wurde.
Die Anreise zum Hotel ist aufwendig und wird im Angebot nicht genügend erwähnt. Erst nach der Buchung wird man mittels Mail auf den aufwendigen und mühsamen Zugang aufmerksam gemacht. Letztlich schleppst du die Koffer durch ein Parkhaus (zus. 13 Euro pro Tag) dann über drei Treppengänge und zum Dessert noch ca. 250 Meter über Kopfsteinpflaster.

Reviewed Apr 29, 2026L'hôtel est proche du Palais des Papes mais ils le sont quasiment tous, le centre historique n'est pas très étendu. Le petit déjeuner est bon.
Hôtel qui ne mérite pas 4 étoiles, la porte d'entrée ne fonctionne pas, l'ascenseur unique pour 6 étages est sale. La chambre petite, la literie déplorable, les oreillers particulièrement. Passons sur la mauvaise qualité des sanitaires. Il n'y a aucun produit dans la salle de bains à part ce savon qui fait shampooing en même temps. Les serviettes éponge ont bien vécu. La climatisation ne fonctionne pas, on meurt de chaud alors qu'il ne fait que 24° dehors. La salle du petit déjeuner est tordue, à niveaux, inaccessible aux handicapés. Et pour finir le bruit des camions de livraison, le matin.
