The bed didn’t have the duvet on the bed and was in the cupboard, so wasn’t sure if we were meant to have it as didn’t have a quilt on it.

Mattress had springs pocking through, chairs had springs pocking through material chair at dressing table was rickety.. There were marks on the carpet and grubby walls. Best to say i won't be back

For a large hotel, the pool was very small, breakfast could only be served on a small tea plate & very expensive for the quality, the room we were given was very bad as the extractor fan very noisy, stains on bedsheets & broken window, had to change room but only one available!

The bath had mould around the edges. There was limescale on the showerhead. Stains on the carpet stains on the wall from tea and coffee. mattress and pillows were very uncomfortable. The corridors hadn’t been hoovered the lift was really scary. It felt more like a care home holiday.

It felt old and warned out and the beds were too soft and with actual lumps and deep pockets. We had to put a folded quilt under the mattress to level out the bed as it had a terrible slope.

They gave me a nice quiet room at the back of the hotel as I had asked for quiet and I was on my own. I felt quite at home in this hotel .. the staff were attentive and respectful, buffet breakfast was good and there was always someone on reception to help with anything. Radiator had been left on, and window wouldn't stay open but a very helpful maintenance man came and sorted it out for me, soon after I reported it. The little swimming pool was an added bonus and no one in it when I did an early morning swim!

There were hairs in the first drawer I opened and also in the bath plug but I just forgot about it! Shower curtain needs a mend as water dripped onto the floor. The bar area could be updated windows were smeared and floor a bit dirty. But the young bar staff were extremely pleasant and welcoming.. which I appreciated as I was on my own. I also got a parking ticket as I didn't realise I had to update the permit each day! There could be a little more information about the hotel, how to get the wifi and and about evening meal timings if not travelling with a group.

The window frames are old style sash style and in need of replacement or repair. Mould on a lot of them. The dinner menu is to high on the wall and the typeface very small.

Hotel very outdated and needs decorating/updating and some TLC. Shabby carpets and our curtains were threadbare in places. Only one lift in service. Dirty bedding left in corridors for hours. Rooms not always cleaned, we had our morning cuppa in cups from the day before more than once. The pictures must have been touched up as if they were a true reflection of the rooms we would not have stayed there. Feel ripped off and would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The size of the room was impressive. Lovely big bed. Bit of a balcony. Lovely view, directly to the beach. Loved the jacuzzi and the walk in showeri. Heating and air conditioning in the room. Bathrobes and slippers in the room. And the hottest pool water and hot water shower in the pool room.

The room needs a bit of tlc. The window wood frame has seen better days and also the carpet needs a good clean (staines). We paid for the breakfast the next day and I was extremely disappointed. It's absolutely not worth £16. Not very good selection and not good quality. Good sausage, but bacon very chewy, omelette was watery and looked horrible. In the end I only had a fried egg, 1 sausage, 1 hash brown and 1 slice of cheese (the cheese was really good). My son ate in the end only 1 sausage, a slice of bread and 1 apple. Regretfully, the breakfast its a total let down and there is no value for money in there. Also one issue is the parking, which is not really something you can do about. It just took us about an hour to find a place to park

Italiani dateci retta, non ci andate, non è un best western. E' tremendo, puzza, vecchio, materassi vecchissimi a fior di molle, non e' per noi, nemmeno la pensione a 1 stella a Gatteo a mare o a Vada per citare tirreno e adriatico. Assurdo, se proprio volete passare una notte da paura very English, e volete spendere tanto, andate. Il problema grosso è che più o meno nella zona questo è il livello

We visited as part of their Airbourne Platter Buffet Lunch package. The food was wonderful and varied. Seating on the outside terrace gave a good view of the flying. We had use of their bar and toilets. A very pleasant and relaxing afternoon. The staff were excellent.

Location is good if you want the beach front which in this occasion, we did. However there was no car park space available anywhere and we had to park 15 minutes away which nulled our residents parking permit which we paid a small fee for. The bar is the most suitable part of the venue.

There was an event on so you couldn’t purchase lunch at the restaurant. You needed to book a buffet in advance. There was no mention of this when booking or in emails from tve venue after booking or wgen we were checking in so we were literally turned away from the restaurant doors at lunch time. There was no option to purchase a buffet ticket from reception so we had to go out to get lunch. There was no pool was closed for a few hours during our stay so I asked if we could stay after check out to fit a swim in and we were refused. I only booked that hotel for the pool. It was £34+ more expensive than the hotel next door which doesn’t have a pool. The dinner menu was limited and expensive so I asked to purchase a child’s meal and was refused. Later a couple sat next to us who had booked for 4 nights and they immediately ordered a meal each from the child’s menu. It was accepted by tve sane waiter who had refused me moments earlier. They told me that on their first night they had threatened to go elsewhere for their 4 evening meals if they couldn’t get a child’s meal. On checking in I was charged a £50 fee ‘just in case’ I ordered room service during late hours when the tills are closed. Which I had no intention of doing. The next morning I asked to put that £50 towards my breakfast but was refused even though I hadn’t used room service during late hours. The breakfast was very poor. Not all cooked items were available and the items that were looks sad and underwhelming. There was extremely limited amount of continental breakfast and only sliced bread available. Not crusty bread, granary, sourdough or rolls. Only one flavour of yogurt which looked like Lidls own brand. The ‘fruit’ juice was awful cordial at best. Typical Apple, orange and one mixed berry only. I ordered a pot of tea and 1/2 way through due to it getting busy I ordered another but was refused because I hadn’t finished the one I was on.

Fantastische locatie, onze kamer had uitzicht op zee. Prachtig! Al het personeel is aardig en heel behulpzaam. Wij konden onze backpacks afgeven bij de balie en een paar uur later weer ophalen. Deze waren netjes in een andere kamer gezet.

Always enjoy our stay there, swimming pool is a bonus, breakfast is great, staff friendly and efficient.

Veranda area needs attention, railings need repainting, wood is basically an eyesore ! There should b a staff member who keeps veranda clean !

Very tired and shabby decor

Siamo rimasti in questa struttura due notti. L'hotel è come te lo aspetti: pulito, essenziale. Nota davvero pisitiva: una piscina riscaldata a disposizione dei clienti che su Booking non era indicata.

Posizionato sul lungomare nella parte meno viva della città, l'hotel non dispone di parcheggio (difficile da trovare in zona), né fornisce un ticket per ospiti.

Comfy beds, good location, friendly staff.

Shower was stuck on hot - we reported it and it was going to be looked at. Only there one night so not fixed while we were there.

Fantastic location overlooking the seafront. Clean and comfortable room, great breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff.

Parking is an absolute nightmare and having to walk from 4 streets away with luggage was not pleasant given the current heatwave. Evening meal (pizza) was disappointing.

Staff were lovely and helpful. Room was clean and comfy. Pool and restaurant/bar area were brilliant.

The room was a nice size room facing the ocean. The shower was nice and powerful and most of the staff were friendly and helpful.

The receptionist who checked us out was not friendly. We also thought the food portions was poor for the price and didn't like the chips. I felt I could have done better myself. The bar staff were not overly friendly and felt it would have been nice if they had come out to the balcony to take drink orders rather than wait for us to go to the bar. No air conditioning which in this latest heat wave was a big shame but I appreciate they provided us with a fan.

Another happy return to York House Hotel. Bedroom was spotless, lovely clean white towels, and comfortable bedding and bed. Lovely to see many familiar staff members, George, Darren, Kaitlin, and sweet Eade, to name a few. Unfortunately one of the lifts was broken, but everyone was patient by using just 1. Can't falt the hotel, yes may need a kick of paint and a spruce up but for me its more about the regular faces happy and friendly staff a lovely swimming pool, and a balcony to relax on.. Full marks to everyone for making our stay so much better.

Hotel was clean, and situated on beach front of Eastbourne, but quite a long way from pier. Hotel catered well for those wishing to watch the air show, and costs reflected that.

Had booked a Standard room, but what we had was actually a small double room, and it was certainly small for the monies paid. Breakfast was mediocre for the price, so ate out on second morning.

No Air com and a bit in need of updating

We went for a 4 night break just to relax. The staff at this hotel are excellent. From the welcome at reception to the lovely staff at breakfast and the staff sorting the rooms you cannot fault them. All smiling and willing to help. Hotel about 15/20 mins walk from station and right on the sea front. Lovely walks to Beachy head and the Sovereign centre and harbour in the other direction. We also managed a visit to the theatre. We tried the pool one afternoon which was a lovely bonus. The hotel is quirky but spotlessly clean with everything you'd need in your room and all working well. Very peaceful. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we will definately return.

Booked a few days before the Airshow and got the last room available ( on bookings or direct with hotel)… a small double. We were actually pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t too small, and was perfectly ok. Clean, v comfortable bed,& a fan was provided. We asked to have the towel rail switched off and this was dealt with immediately. Very friendly staff at reception, bar and breakfast restaurant. We used the pool too. It’s was nice and warm. The changing rooms are v dated. But we enjoyed it nonetheless.

We pre booked breakfast. It’s ok, but some items were quite poor quality ( particularly the juice, fruit salad and decaf coffee ). However plenty of it was still pretty good

It’s a bit outdated

Having been spoilt at best western hove we decided to come here,we got a cheapish room only deal,left hand lift not working so had to trapse through corridors from other end of hotel a lot of carpets were threadbare in corridors that said room clean enough but small at the back of hotel,window both rotten inside and out,shower worked well,but miles apart from hove hotel, the window frame was rotten as pics show view outside was just a view of loads of bird poo which looks like it had been there over many months,the most worrying thing though as there was no restrictions on the window so could open fully if someone wished to get out from the 3rd floor,a health and safety’s nightmare scenario and not good for a hotel,room 396 not the best pay extra and get better room

The hotel is in a good location- right opposite the beach front and about 10-15 minutes walk to the high street restaurants and cafes. The female receptionist I spoke to when checking out was very friendly and helpful. TV in bedroom was a bonus.

There was quite a strong smell of cigarettes throughout the hotel including my bedroom and bathroom was very compact but suitable for one person.

Room 194 is an exceptionally well presented room with plenty of space to be very comfortable, the bed is very comfortable, the bathroom set up (with shower, bath and sink) is exquisite, and the offset facility for hotdrinks was very welcome, additional the changing room area ensured that clothes and storage of suitcases unencumbered the living space.

The coffee table was set in the window alcove, giving a perfect view of the sea, however the 2 swivel chairs were the one downpoint to the stay, they are rickety, and at times felt as if they might break, the low backs give little support and the seats are slippery, requiring safely planted feet to maintain stability. They are also quite low and the stand beneath the seat appeared uncleaned, tub chairs like other rooms would have been more comfortable.

The location of the Hotel was quite good, but we felt the breakfast was very average. The Teapots needed a good clean & we were seated at 9am , but when I wanted Croissants etc, they had already run out, very dissapointing.

The bed was uncomfortable ,& squeaky. The receptionist was not very welcoming on arrival , & on departure we wernt asked how our stay had been , & it all felt a bit cold.

The beds were so old and the mattress was awful collapsed Bathroom dirty needs a good re furb or a dam good scrub chairs in the breakfast area are worn out the breakfast was cold. Lady’s on reception not exactly helpful and friendly

We had a family break with 10 of us across 5 rooms. Firstly the hotel is a little tired - we knew that when booking. We had 5 sea view rooms and the views were breathtaking- sunrise was an added bonus. the staff from reception, catering and Bar were so welcoming and helpful. Special mention to Itchear (not sure of spelling) who was super helpful and a good host at breakfast. Location is perfect for us, restaurants and pier just a short stroll away. Would defo stay again

L'hotel est vieillot. Cela à son charme mais la vieille moquette partout, ça n'est pas super hygiénique. L'ascenseur etait en panne. Le WiFi etait quasi inexistant. Le petit-déjeuner était correct.

The location was good and we had a sea view.

The room was very tired and dated. The carpet was stained. The bathroom wasn’t particularly clean. Dirty marks on the bath panel that came off when I wiped them just with water would suggest it hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly. My husband’s bath towel had a large dark grey stain on it. The net curtain was torn in two places. The ironing board was in poor repair. We had to go to reception for more toilet roll, insufficient for a one night stay in the room.

Unfortunately, we were disappointed with our stay. The room was very small and felt quite cramped. The bed was also small and the mattress was very firm, making it uncomfortable. The room was dusty, which aggravated my wife’s asthma. We found a fan in the wardrobe and, when we switched it on, it blew out a large amount of dust, suggesting it hadn’t been cleaned for years. After discovering this, we spoke to reception. The only response offered was that someone would clean the room. There was little sense of concern or ownership of the issue, and no offer to move us to another room or discuss alternative solutions. We felt we had to suggest the actions we expected ourselves rather than the staff proactively trying to resolve the situation, which left us feeling that our concerns weren’t taken particularly seriously. The bathroom was very dated, with exposed pipework that looked untidy and unclean. There was also no lock on the bathroom door. We were woken from around 8:30am by a neighbouring property where someone was vacuuming artificial grass. There were a number of other inconveniences too: the kettle was too large to fit under the sink tap to fill, there was no fridge, the WiFi didn’t work during our stay, the TV was very outdated and the room lighting was poor. There was also no parking available at the hotel, which made arriving and unloading inconvenient and added unnecessary stress to our stay. Accessibility also appeared to be poor. We didn’t see any ramps for disabled guests and felt sorry for those with mobility difficulties who appeared to be struggling to get around the hotel because of the steps. Overall, the hotel felt tired, poorly maintained and in need of updating. More disappointing than the room itself was the lack of proactive customer service when we raised genuine concerns. Based on our experience, we would not recommend staying here.

Perfectly serviceable and decent customer service. Slight feel of faded glory but everything is clean and usable. Had a sea view room which was very nice but also quite expensive. Nicely decorated and a sofa facing out towards the sea. It says it has a business centre - it doesn’t. Staff let me use the bar area in the day and bought cups of tea which was very nice of them. Pool was fine - clean and well kept. I booked through Expedia and breakfast wasn’t included which was annoying - book direct for breakfast included. Staff kind and patient. Parking £2.50 per day on prom, first come first serve. Parking in back street behind hotel is free. Lingering smell of smoke in reception. Would return here if I came back to the area.

Entrance and facade of the building look tired but once you are inside there is a lovely feel. The hotel and bedrooms were clean, the rooms were not huge but ample for a couple with tea, coffee etc. the bathroom shower was tired but was clean. The staff were very good, polite, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good value at £15pp with a wide choice and attentive staff with a lovely view overlooking the sea. Location was lovely great views from the verander, 7 minute walk to the shops and town. 3 minutes to the pier or a 50 minute walk to the marina where there are some lovely restaurants and bars. Uber was £9-£15.
