Location and rooms were good
Food was very average and expensive
Location
Nothing
The views , the location, atmosphere, character, decor
Location on the marina is fabulous. Hotel bar, brasserie and room all excellent. Staff in all areas were extremely helpful and attentive.
All good - no negatives.
I live 5 minutes away from the hotel, but overlooking the Marina you could be anywhere.
Only downside was the blackout curtains didn't join leaving a gap for lights from the marina in all night
Decor and the building itself were really nice, striking to look at. Staff were friendly and the food was very good. The view from our room over the harbour was fantastic.
The (fire) light above the door could not be switched off which was a shame as it spoiled the atmospheric lighting options of the room. Perhaps there is a better way to light the exit, it was brighter than it seemed to need to be. Above our room (504) we could hear loud footsteps constantly throughout the evening. Not sure if this was staff or other guests but it was quite loud. Coffee was a little weak in the morning but was replaced promptly with no issues.
Great location BUT !!!
Aspects of the accommodation not great. No AC in a high end hotel ! Fan in cupboard alongside odd plugs and tea making set up . No ID if tap water was mains or tank and safe to drink !! Reception was unclear on arrival as looked like it was Spa reception but turns out not to be ! Fire alarm went off at 7.30 am Sunday morning for two minutes with no mention of why at check out or or why TV had no signal so no news watched o. Phone as wifi solid. Secure parking had Pedestrian access gate not closing and secure unless pulled closed but reported to reception but not fixed at check out. Stayed here some years ago and was top end but a return was disappointing was expecting service as way back when ! I guess it’s what we come to expect from an overpriced holiday inn ! Shame was soooo good way back when top drawer .
Location, room and comfy bed, brilliant staff.
Nothing
Location and bedding were comfy.
Price for what we had. Parking was £7.50 Breakfast wasn't Inc Spa was ridiculously over priced. Sofa had stains all over it. Stains on the carpet
Great location easy access and a car park
Nothing everything was ideal
This place delivers on everything, its comfortable and clean and in a great location. The food was lovely. Above all tho, the staff are amazing, they were so kind and really went above and beyond at every turn which is so rare these days.
Great art, great location.
The shower in our room, difficult to operate and didn’t drain properly
Very comfortable bed room facilities, good restaurant, dinner and breakfast Parkin free on site.
The only complaint we had was the pop music playing in the restaurant, The atmosphere would be so much more relaxing without the background music!
Excellent staff. Stylishly decorated and furnished. Superb food. Great location

Fabulous time ....stayed with a 22 coach party we all had a great time....great food... friendly staff ....rooms perfection .....everything organised and well managed
We came for an afternoon tea (myself, daughter and granddaughter) and it was our granddaughters first afternoon tea. The staff went out of their way to make it a special experience for her, they gave her a plate with her name written in icing and a bonus cake. All the food was delicious and staff attentive- our waiter (male, youngish) was fantastic and went above and beyond to make it special. A big thank you to him.
A very good hotel for a coach party
We stayed at Salthouse Harbour Hotel for a celebration weekend away, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Our room was absolutely beautiful, with a stunning copper bath that made our stay feel extra special. The spa was peaceful, luxurious, and incredibly relaxing, for sure one of the best I've ever visited! The treatments were simply heavenly, and every member of the spa team made us feel completely looked after. The food was exceptional, with every meal beautifully prepared and full of flavour. Combined with the warm, genuine hospitality from the entire team, it made for the perfect weekend getaway. I would highly recommend Salthouse Harbour Hotel to anyone looking for a unique and memorable escape. Thank you to the entire team for your kindness, outstanding service, and for making our celebration so special. We can't wait to return!
What a wonderful stay in a perfect situation along the waterfront in Ipswich. The service from everybody was impeccable from the front desk , restaurant staff and the housekeeping team. Everyone was so helpful , friendly and accommodating. The rooms were fabulous and every meal we had , breakfast , lunch and dinner was superb. We really didn’t want to leave and would recommend staying here. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much.
Yet another lovely stay at The Salthouse even had a couple of cocktails in the newly renovated bar area. Staff as always very friendly and make you feel part of the family.
A wonderful overnight stay. In fact we felt on leaving as if we had been on holiday for a week rather than just overnight. Attentive, friendly staff, good food and drink and a comfortable air conditioned room made this a five star experience. Only two things struck us as unusual within a hotel of this calibre, firstly the lack of wardrobe and drawer storage space. There were no drawers at all within the room and the bulk of the wardrobe area was filled with two hotel bathrobes, an ironing board and a small shelf unit containing hairdryer, kettle and complimentary beverage ingredients, which made it hard to store our own garments. As we were only staying overnight this did not pose too much of a problem to us, but might do for guests staying longer. Secondly, we were surprised to see there was no minibar within the room. Two bottles of mineral water awaited us on the table but it would have been useful to have somewhere to chill them. The air conditioning was most welcome, however, as we visited during a heatwave. All in all, a most enjoyable stay. Thank you.
We had a fantastic time at Salthouse Spa for our wedding anniversary. The staff including front of house staff Maddie and Jamie were extremely welcoming and friendly. The food in the restaurant was excellent, we had lunch and breakfast which were both very nice. We stayed in the Penthouse suite overlooking the harbour which was lovely, the views were amazing. The room was spacious and extremely clean, and comfortable. The spa although quite small was very new, it’s lovely and quiet as limited numbers at one time, the staff in the spa were very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend. Would definitely visit again.
Went for a pre meeting drink, had to find someone to get a drink menu, no one came to take the order, walked through restaurant to the bar and ordered , waited 20 mins at which point I had to find someone to chase the order up, 10 minutes later they arrived. Was asked to pay before the drinks were put on the table. Waitress disappeared before I could say I had the wrong cocktail, was now time to leave for our meeting . Wasn’t going to put this review but I messaged the hotel via contact form but no one has replied to me dispute the form saying a reply will be sent by next working day.
Spent 2 nights at the Salt house with a group of friends and had a fantastic experience. Rooms were great and the breakfast was amazing and cooked to order. The staff were superb. All were friendly, polite and attentive. I cannot praise it enough and I have stayed in hundreds of hotels all over the world.
We received gift vouchers for our wedding last year, for an overnight stay at this hotel on a Sunday, along with a gift voucher for dinner to the value of £80. We booked tickets to a show at a theatre in Ipswich one Sunday evening, and made a reservation at the hotel for the same night. Unfortunately, the theatre show was cancelled, but we still travelled from Norwich to stay over anyway. Our room (312) was lovely, small window with view over a car park, but it was quiet and comfortable. The hotel is tastefully decorated and the restaurant has undergone a significant refurbishment recently- we had to wait several months to book in to use our voucher due to the restaurant being out of action. We had 2 x mains, 2 x desserts, a bottle of water & 2 aperol spritz which totalled £97. Delicious meal and very attentive service in a lovely environment. The weather was perfect & we were able to enjoy breakfast outside by the harbour the next morning. It felt like being on holiday!
The hotel is beautiful set beside the marina in Ipswich . Sitting out on an evening with a glass of wine was just like being abroad! The food was excellent , the air conditioning was very welcome, given the temperature was over 30 degrees every day. What made our holiday even more memorable was the wonderful staff. Without exception every single one of them gave outstanding service throughout our stay. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel.
Came here to celebrate with the family post wedding. Was lovely. Thank you
We booked the spa, dinner, room and breakfast package. We arrived at lunchtime and ordered a snack and drink. The staff were amazing and extremely polite. Reception came and found us when it was our time to use the spa. They had arranged for our bags to be taken up to the 1st floor spa. I have to say the area is lovely. Everything in the spa was very modern, clean, and luxurious. With French windows over looking the marina made it perfect. Ruby and ?(sorry I have forgotten your name) were extremely helpful and showed us around and explained how the facilities worked. When it was time for our treatments Ruby and ? came and led us to the treatment room The products were very good as were the facial and massage. They arranged to get our room key for us so we didn’t have to walk down to reception in dressing gowns. Our room 406 was superbly furnished and looked out over the marina. Dinner was really good (too much) and breakfast was amazing. Most certainly will return and full recommend this hotel and spa. We had the most relaxing experience and the staff were fabulous Thank you
We had two nights in the restaurant though sadly unable to stay (group of 19). Great area - felt like being on holiday sitting watching the boats and seagulls! The staff both evenings were great - efficient and could not have done more for us and the atmosphere was fun. Short walk off the Waterfront to the Novotel which was ideal.
Modern , eclectic decor , great staff , amazing location
Nothing
Not a fan of the recent renovations/ changes I'm afraid. The previously spacious and relaxing lounge / reception area now feels cramped with the panoramic view of the waterfront from the window seats now compromised. The previously imposing reception desk has been replaced by a small table tucked away in the corner. The restaurant is much lighter (which is a good thing) but also seemed noisier (maybe due to increased number of tables / removal of walls which maybe muffled the sound). The main disappointment for me was the rebrand of the restaurant from a Bistro to a British Brasserie. If it hadn't been for a 'special' I literally wouldn't have wanted anything on the menu. Fish and chips, sausage and mash, fish pie etc are quite frankly uninspiring and what I'd expect from a pub not a high end restaurant. I was tempted by the whole Dover sole until I realised the only potato accompaniment was chips or mashed potato. The choice of only 3 desserts (plus ice cream or cheese) was also poor and unusually for me I chose to skip dessert. Service was good and staff very helpful but sadly I wouldn't rush back.
Very nice hotel and the staff were excellent. We were part of a group and sometimes they got our breakfast orders wrong or forgotten. Room was lovely with a view over the marina. Would recommend it if in Ipswich
The staff were friendly and most helpful. We arrived early enough to be able to park in the hotel car park and were pleased to find that our room was ready too. Fantastic view from our 4th floor room. A few minor decor and cleaning points which marred what could have been an immaculate room. Was a comfortable hotel in a superb location. Would definitely recommend and hope to return.
We have stayed in this hotel several times and have loved it every time. Rooms are beautiful, spotlessly clean and with a wonderful view of the marina. We had cocktails in the afternoon which were delicious and then ate in the restaurant. Food was very high quality and service friendly and efficient. We will definitely be returning. Only one very small negative is that the toiletries in the bedrooms contain almond oil and there is only a very small warning for anyone with a nut allergy. This is something that should be pointed out during check-in with an alternative offered for anyone who needs it.
Had a wonderful stay very dog friendly very sweet they give your dog a free gift upon stay The afternoon tea was amazing so was the staff. Just a few things like a mark on the walls in the room aswell as a broken desk part but overall great place to stay in by the harbour will for sure come back xx
We recently spent two nights at this fabulous hotel in a wonderful location overlooking the marina with a great atmosphere. Our room (508) was immaculate with tea/coffee making facilities and gorgeous shower gel/hand soap etc in the bathroom. The food for breakfast and evening meal was freshly cooked and delivered to your table with professionalism. From our arrival to leaving we could not fault the staff who were very friendly and helpful at all times and always with a smile on their face. We certainly received value for money and will definitely be visiting again looking forward to the new spa facilities which are opening shortly. At times it was rather noisy with the balcony doors open due to a fairground attraction quite close by which we understand was in place for the Easter weekend.
Birthday celebration dinner and stay overnight: superb service from start to checkout, with excellent meal. Staff seemed to genuinely enjoy and to be proud to provide great service
Myself and my daughter just spent one night here B&B The atmosphere was friendly and inviting . Great staff everyone we met was so nice. The room was lovely . The breakfast fresh. cocktails very good . Service was excellent throughout . Great email and human communication at all times from booking to leaving . Very classy relaxed but fun place to stay with nice decor and impeccable staff.
My wife and I have just returned from a break at The Salthouse Harbour Hotel while on a coach trip. We arrived on 30th March and stayed for four nights. The hotel has recently re-opened after a two month refurb. What a wonderful Hotel. The staff were amazing and the food, both breakfast and evening meal were served at the table. The quality of the food and it's presentation was first class. We had a room on the fifth floor overlooking the harbour and surrounding area of Ipswich. We could not find fault with anything. I would certainly recommend this hotel if you are heading for Ipswich. You will not be disappointed.
We had an afternoon tea for two. The sandwiches, cakes and scones were delicious and washed down with copious amounts of tea all at a very reasonable price. The decor is sumptuous and comfortable. The staff are professional, friendly and attentive, asking us on more than one occasion if we needed any refills. Special mention must be made of Diana who looked after us wonderfully well. Thank you.
I had the pleasure of staying in room 507 this Sunday evening and selected one of the copper rooms which far exceeded my expectations. A real copper bath too, it was delightful! This hotel oozes luxury, sophistication and a real home from home feel with timeless, quintessential interiors and real heritage to the waterfront town of Ipswich. My view from the Juliet balcony was stunning, in-fact I had to keep reminding myself I was still in the UK! Absolutely cannot wait to bring my family back here in the summer and would highly recommend. Lastly, the restaurant and bar areas are newly renovated and are outstanding with some spectacular treats on the menu, particularly loved the “fish, chips and sips”
I booked a dinner reservation. It was Sunday so roasts are on the menu. Everything was delicious and I couldn't fault it. A wonderful experience
Room overlooked harbour with a small balcony. French doors so can pull chairs for sit down view. Ground floor being completely refurbed so lots of mess and closed to public. We got a special rate while work going on so happy with stay.
The hotel has had a refurbishment on the ground floor. Official opening on 9th so we went to check it out as our experiences have always been 5* The bar has been moved into the open reception area which we will certainly use just to have a drink which really wouldn’t have been an option before. Familiar surroundings but with a new boutique quality and feel. The same and also new FANTASTIC staff. Obviously prices have been raised. Personally , I think even a small glass of wine is a little overpriced. I had the fish and chips , very reasonable, and totally delicious, but the pea puree was barely warm would be my only criticism. My husband had the lamb dish .. the lamb was beautifully cooked but the mash tasteless and I would say overpriced. What keeps us returning is the staff. They are exemplary at their job. Well done everyone
A gorgeous hotel in a beautiful area on the waterfront. The view in the evening/morning was gorgeous. The room itself was amazing, very warm and cosy and lots of amenities in the room - tea, coffee, biscuits. The bathroom was very clean and the shower was lovely to use. The bed was extremely comfortable to sleep in and very large so lots of space. Towels provided were soft and fluffy. Overall had a lovely stay, it’s right by some yummy restaurants/bars. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the room service breakfast was absolutely delicious! Plus brought us toast which we requested. Would love to stay here again in the future. They also wrote a lovely happy birthday note for arrival.
Still one of our favourite Hotels. Yes at the moment it does have renovations ongoing but if you stay for the weekend no building work goes ahead so as quiet as always. We stayed for two nights (Friday/Saturday) the builders stopped at 3.00pm on the Friday ready for guests to check in, (but to be honest they were rather quiet). There is a beautiful lounge area on the top floor (penthouse) if you didn’t want to stay in your room where you are able to have a drink with the most amazing views over the marina towards the Orwell bridge. Can’t wait to see the finished project. Or even return to see how things are coming along.
Had the pleasure of staying here while working in the area . The hotels ground floor is currently being renovated so there is no restaurant but a bar is available on the 6th floor . Breakfast is being served in the rooms and room service is available for evening meals. Upon check in the staff were wonderful and friendly and due to work I got an upgraded room , WOW, fantastic view of the harbour and the most luxurious bed I have ever seen , everything about this hotel just screams class!! For me people make the difference and that personal touch means a lot when you are a guest . Thank you , I absolutely love this hotel and look forward to visiting when the works are complete.
Clean trendy, warm rooms
Area for drinks, need more space
Currently staying at the Salt house Harbour Hotel for a couple of nights. Booked one on the Penthouse Suites. Room 605 Warm welcoming at reception and very accommodating in terms of taking our luggage up to our room Room is moderately spacious for suite and the glass frontage from the bedroom and the living area provides for fantastic views of the harbour. The decor in the bedroom works well with the wooden ornate bed headrest and side lamps. Love the drift wood lamps shades in the living area and the curtains work well. The TV area and furniture in the living area just doesn’t work for me and looks completely outdated. The pictures on the walls are simply not fitting for a suite of this nature. The Bathroom en-suite is very plain and not what you would expect for a penthouse suite. The green floor tiles are simply not my taste. Although clean and tidy it needs a complete overhaul to give it some character. Very disappointing that a penthouse suite of this nature didn’t even have any luxury bath salts and there doesn’t seem to be any underfloor heating so your feet are freezing cold when walking into the bathroom.
The surrounding with the Marina and the harbour walk is classy. Great service at the hotel and large rooms, clean and a little taste of luxury. Sitting breakfast, might a little expensive but close to other places just outside the hotel door. Compare to prices in London, this is a great deal of feeling great.
Everything
Nothing
Great place to stay after a busy month of travelling. We stay different counties on our business trips and this time we chose this place
I loved the decor and ambiance of the place
Nothing
Had a great weekend stay here in November 2025 - we used their weekend deal and it was definitely worth the money. The hotel is decorated to a high standard, with a few quirky art pieces. We stayed on the 5th floor and had a small balcony, although only their standard room. Bathroom was a little dated, could do with a refurb. Breakfast was amazing. Staff extremely attentive. The only problem was waiting for dinner for over 45mins, but we just enjoyed our drinks and some time together. Food was incredible, when it did arrive. Great location overlooking the marina and a short distance from the town centre and football stadium. Would definitely return and recommend.
Clean and attentive staff
Nothing
Room was lovely and cosy with lovely ambient lighting and nice attention to detail. View form front was great. Attractive restaurant serving very good food. Staff very polite and helpful and had personality. Ability to park so close was a bonus.
No complaints
We had booked a 1 night stay in a harbour view room after deciding to upgrade from the standard Salthouse room. We arrived 3pm on the dot for a 3pm check-in. We pulled into the car park & thankfully 2 bays free. It is a small car park but I didn’t need the assistance offered to park up. We proceeded to check in & it was a very quick & easy, we were soon on way to our room 306. On opening the door we both let out a big wow, what an amazing, spacious & well designed room, it just looked so perfect, the pictures on website doesn’t do it justice. We proceeded to look out to see the views & for November what an amazing scenery , really just topped off the feeling of luxury. The room was very cosy & furniture just so comfortable & made you feel so relaxed.. Room had the standard complimentary beverages, with biscuits & toiletries available if required in the bath room. After a night around the harbour we decided to try the hotel bar for a nightcap. We both picked something of the cocktail list & both really enjoyed. For an extra special treat we ordered breakfast in bed & though £20 per person for the full English you definitely get money’s worth, we couldn’t finish it off. We couldn’t fault anything with our stay, it looks glamorous & well maintained from walking thru front doors to the staff very attentive & helpful. This place is a hidden jewel in Ipswich. We are from Norfolk & didn’t realise this area existed we enjoyed so much we are planning a return visit next June,. Can imagine with the summer weather it will be a hive of activity
The staff, the room was clean, very helpful as soon as you walked through the door
The breakfast was a little pricey, could do with more plugs near the beds in the room
Very friendly staff and excellent food
Breakfast choices were good and presented well, staff were very nice and helpful. Location has a lovely outlook over the marina and a good choice of restaurants and cafés. Hotel Itself has lovely seating areas and quirky decor.
This is no fault of the hotel itself but location didn’t have any small shops close by to browse in.
The room was beautifully furnished, possibly a little crowded. The reception lounge and dining room were, likewise, attractively and cosily furnished, although we didn't spend time in either. The view over the docks was attractive, but we had a side room so the rest was of the bar next door. Very comfortable bed; nice selection of toiletries and tea tray.
We were looking forward to having a view of the docks and marina. The view from the side room was ok, but the balcony and decking were in a poor, almost disgusting condition. There was mould on the balcony walls and decking, and the balcony floor wash a stagnant puddle full of algae. We weren't in our room for long, had we been staying longer or wanted to use the balcony more, we would have requested a move. Additional cost of breakfast and parking made for disappointing experience.
Bath impossible to fill as turn screws didn’t work plus bed seemed less than kingsize
Very comfy excellent dinner in the restaurant, great pillows too. Staff all very helpful.
Excellent as usual, great Room, excellent breakfast. It's the default place to stay when in Ipswich. The restaurant is also really good.
Love the view of the Marina, great access to local amenities and restaurant food was amazing
Absolutely everything, it was a beautiful experience to celebrate my husband's 75th Birthday
Absolutely nothing
Very friendly and capable staff. Lovely food in the restaurant
We ate in the restaurant at the Salthouse harbour hotel and it was tasteless and bland. Mackerel on dry toast was absolutely awful. Bream with coleslaw and 3 halves of new potatoes was an awful combination and again tasteless. Rubbery cheddar with a slab of Brie and a few grapes was so unimaginative, colourless and very unexciting. We were both so terribly disappointed. I would recommend you give it a wide berth.
The location, the decor, the dinner, the staff.
The squeaky floors everywhere, the non-soundproof walls, the non-supportive pillows.
I would recommend, a stay at the Salthouse hotel for everyone, I stayed there for a couple days with my beautiful girlfriend Paula, everything was excellent I couldn't complain about anything, so anyone visiting ipswich I would highly recommend staying at Salthouse a excellent hotel Carl Wharton
We only stayed one night but were very.impressed. Will certainly stay again. Thank you your staff are superb. Thank you
Fantastic hotel. Brilliant location. Cannot fault it at all. I contacted the hotel prior to visiting with my requirements and was very happy to see that they had taken note of this and was very attentive. From the minute I arrived to the minute I left, nothing was too much trouble. I had room 210 overlooking the Marina with the balcony doors. I suffer from claustrophobia and this room was perfect. Very light, spacious and airy with balcony doors plus full window panels either side. A really comfortable nights sleep, the bed was comfy and the pillows I just fell into. I am deaf and the hotel provided a pillow shaker alarm in the event of a fire. They went above and beyond. Oh and they make an excellent Mojito! Thank you so much to Charlotte and Sophie and to the guys who parked my car for me in the reserved disabled parking bay. I will definitely stay at this hotel again next time I am in Suffolk visiting family.
Had a gorgeous weekend away! This hotel is bursting with charm—quirky, stylish, and full of character. The locally sourced menu was just as impressive, offering food that was both creative and delicious. The view from our balcony was absolutely stunning—such a joy to wake up to in the morning and a perfect spot to unwind in the evening with a drink in hand. We took full advantage of both the room service and the restaurant, and every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavour. There’s a small car park, but the free valet service made everything super convenient and stress-free. I don’t usually leave hotel reviews, but this one truly deserved it. Highly recommend for a unique and relaxing escape!
It is a lovely hotel with a lovely setting.
We don't think you got value for money for what you pay compared to other hotels we have stayed at. Also for what you pay as a hotel guest you don't get priority on our second evening we were unable to have a drink in the lounge due to the fact that the general public are allowed to just come in and wait for tables to be come available or just sit there having a drink. If you're going to allow this to happen then you need a larger seating area. We also found that for us the dining room wasn't very relaxing to sit and just enjoy your meal.
Brilliant location in historic building decorated in a quirky style. Good amenities close by.
The room had not been cleaned thoroughly ie spilt coffee stains down the wall and skirting board, dusty desk chair and stains on carpet.
.
Great location.
Very expensive.
Great location, the room was good with a nice view of the marina, and staff were friendly and helpful
Nothing
La ubicación
Ipswich centro, horroroso. Está anclado en los 70, con ambiente deteriorado. Pesimo destino turístico
Superb location, quirky, sumptuous hotel and kind, courteous and very attentive staff.
Lovely room. Comfortable bed . Balcony with views of the Marina and town. Staff were great. 10/10
We always love going to the Salthouse, the staff are always very professional and friendly and willing to help you with anything. We normally have a bouquet of flowers which is highly recommended they are always excellent, so is the champagne. This visit was for our anniversary and was only for 1 night but as always we were having a lovely time. Whilst sitting down to a lovely meal in the eaterie unfortunately my wife was taken ill with chest pains and we had to call an ambulance, the staff were so quick and professional in helping us and preparing for the ambulance. We cannot thank them enough for all their help, truly a wonderful place to stay and eat.
The hotel is set in amazing position on the harbour front. The restaurant food is 5 star. Harbour view room is a must
There is no faulting this hotel
We have stayed at this hotel 2-3 times. It is refreshing to see the same staff members. The continuity of staffing ells me that the management is doing a good job, behind the scenes, to make our experience as positive as possible.
Lovely hotel with amazingly friendly.staff. Would definitely stay again. Location is right in marina so lots of bars and music and Lovely.bank holiday spent
Drinks quite pricey but lots of alternatives walking distance
Location is beautiful and nice area

The staff were great, really efficient. Sorted out the problem with the twin room set up.
We stayed the night and found the room to be comfortable, however we had breakfast in the room the following morning and it was inedible. The toast was under-cooked, the bacon was dry and like leather. My poached eggs were meant to be soft but were hard. To top it all the food was cold. We complained and were told that they had received no other complaints that morning (as if that mattered to us). They also said they could not refund the price of the breakfast and could only offer us an upgrade room if we stayed again. Overall an unsatisfactory response.
Ottima posizione, sul porto ma vicina al centro. Camera medio grande con un grande televisore (che non abbiamo usato). Buon assortimento di the e caffè. Staff molto disponibile e collaborativo, in particolare il responsabile portoghese (non ricordo il nome) è stato molto accogliente. Buono anche il ristorante.
I reserved a quiet table for my partner and I in advance, as I am a little deaf, and arrived early to check that it was available, just to be sure - but when we came to the agreed time to eat they had given the table to someone else despite previously agreeing with me to reserve that table for that time. Additionally the tone of the staff was very dismissive and in one case a bit agressive. Its a busy place thanks to their social media reviews - but the reality from my actual experience is that this is not a good place to eat. Food is only one half of the equation. Good service is the other half. My experience so far with salthouse has been very negative. There are better places to eat in Ipswich for sure, as we went somewhere else and had a lovely evening. Steer clear if I were you.
Lovely rooms
Isaac lords noisy
Room. Marina view. Location. Bed.
One obstructive staff member in evening restaurant. We were an inconvenience.
Everything was perfect
Absolutely dreadful service when having afternoon tea. Only saw waitress once. Had to go to the bar to pay. It ruined a much looked forward to event. I have repeatedly tried to contact them with no response.
Very stylish boutique hotel on the waterfront. The team working there are friendly and professional.
As my visit was planned to coincide with my working in the Record Office in connection with a forthcoming book, the location was both very convenient and very attractive. The staff were very helpful as my bank a/c had just been hacked and my bank card wasn't working.
I have to say the decor is rather odd ... eclectic and no apparent theme!
A great spacious building by an under-rated harbour. Once a traditional industrial active port. The setting reflected this.
No air-con in the rooms and no shower guard.
