Terrible
Excellent staff extremely polite
Clean room. Good quality breakfast with healthy option if wanted. Staff helpful. Good value budget hotel. Would stay again.
There was not much available for vegan/vegetarians at breakfast. The bathroom was the smallest I've ever seen at a hotel. If you sat on the toilet you had to make sure the window ( a porthole ! ) was shut, otherwise you would hit the window whilst standing up. The bathroom was that small you had to come out and dry off in the bedroom. There is no air-conditioning in the room, and as it was warm we had to have the window ajar. BUT, the noise from the local estate was really bad until the early hours of the morning. And two or three times during the early hours we were woken up by motorbikes. The car park is fenced off, but you always had a bad feeling that when you went to the car the next day something might of happened to it. Luckily it didn't. Staff were friendly enough. Hotel clean throughout. But one big bugbear for us is that there is never anywhere to hang coats, especially if wet.
Very convenient, easy access to local amenities.
Every time as spot on The only down fall was the bath room was very small but it was very clean
Nice clean and friendly, room very small breakfast was hot and ok, frozen fruit no fresh juice scrambled egg the only option , and natural yogurt not made properly, too runny
Lunch & dinner - poor food offering. Everything frozen. Not much knowledge from staff about allergies. No real atmosphere in the common areas. Breakfast a bit better but only scrambled eggs offered and everything was cleared away at 10am! My TV didn’t work for entire visit.
Great location, room was quite small and was a bit tatty in places.
Very relaxed atmosphere, and welcomed our dog . So very happy .
I loved it
This hotel is very clean, breakfast is good and bed is very comfortable. The shower is great but bathroom is very tight. All in all good location and helpful staff.
The room was tiny, which was ok, however, the bathroom was so cramped that it was actually difficult to use! For 2 people it was tolerable for one night, any longer would have been a real struggle. In addition, bathroom door banged all night, we initially thought that this was because the bathroom window was open, but it was the same with the window closed.
It is an ideal location to gunwharf quays and city centre but the rooms are incredibly small. The town centre being nearby can also be very noisy due to clubs/music. Loud music went on outside until 1-2am so be wary of that. 🙂
It was close to landmarks and was able to be walkable to the port (40min walk but mainly flat area) the complementary breakfast was filling and the staff was there to ensure freshness and that the tables are clean for the next guest
Convenient to port and shopping areas
The staff were lovely, it was so easy to get to from the train station. The room was small but sufficient for an overnight stay. The breakfast was good value for money. It was clean and fresh and a nice choice of food. My sister’s and myself there was 6 of us all complemented the food and cleanliness.
The tiniest bathroom I have ever seen in a hotel. Expensive car park, £12 per night, not obvious on website.
Convenient hotel to reside at.
Lovely reception staff and nice new lobby and bar area. Unfortunately the beers on tap did not work both nights. Bathroom very small space.
We stayed here for the Victorious festival and the location was perfect. We arrived at 10:30am and there were stil quite a few car parking spaces left. Staff were very welcoming and hotel was quite. Great buffet breakfast.
Bathroom was tiny, you couldn’t dry yourself in it. Shower leaked, the towel was used to stand on was soaked by the time we had our showers from leaking water.
Easy access to the transport services. Bus stop outside the hotel, takes you to the main terminal from there you can plan your days out using local transport. Quiet due to university campus shut for summer but would imagine busy during term periods. Easy to walk into town, The Terrace Cafe was a great find.
Breakfast 10/10 Bed 10/10 Cleanlinless 9/10 (very dusty fan) Location 10/10 Didn’t hear any banging doors. Good location for victorious festival.
Ibis seemed quite modern, smelt nice and comfortable. Staff could have been more engaging. We only had 3 pillows for our double bed…should have been 4? Breakfast was decent and hot. Would stay again.
Staff and location good but very small room and bath.
Rooms are very small but have everything you need for a short stay. EV charging in the car park is helpful too.
Good stay, service very friendly, breakfast good, but rooms v small
receptionist was not very helpful when i arrived i was very tired after my 6 hour journey, to be dismissed after i explained that i had already paid for my breakfast , . if i hadn't enquired about breakfast times in the morning, i would not have relised that they had not updated there computer system to say i was entitled to a free breakfast
Excellent stay, hotel clean, lovely bar area, restaurant food great for the price, really lovely stay
Convenient location. Good Breakfast options. Breakfast staff friendly and approachable. The room was small though, it was too hot and no proper ventilation to cool the room - keep that in mind if travelling in summer. We found needles behind the bed side table before checking out so make sure to do a good sweep of the room on arrival. Lift worked fine - 1 working out of 2 so prepare extra time to wait for it to be available. Overall - friendly staff, clean open area downstairs to relax but small rooms and very very warm. Did what it needed to do.
Comfortable but if you are facing the street is was very loud with people partying in the street on the weekend. Rooms are very small but comfortable enough for one stay. Staff nice and overall nice and clean
Excellent even though the room was a little small , especially the bathroom
It was close enough to the port to serve as a launching pad for a cruise. More for students as it is near a university
Arrived after a long drive in France, longer ferry crossing and this hotel was booked for convenience near the port. Lifts not working, room on the third floor. Heavy luggage, in our seventies, not what we needed. Free drinks given but really more was required. Have used Ibis a few times before with no issues. This experience was very poor.
First time in an Ibis Hotel. Check in was friendly, very swift, room very clean, white sheets, white bathroom towels, tea making facilities, TV. Room smallest we've been in but okay for us. Breakfast plenty of choice, cooked, continental, cereals, juice, toast, fruit etc all was being topped up as needed. There was a pool table, table top games available for your use to relax at any time of day. Staff friendly, happy to help. Toilet facilities all very clean. A ten minute walk from Portsmouth, Historical Dockyard. We didn't have an evening meal at Ibis, there was a selection of (what I would class as normal pub meals) so chose to eat out. However this wasn't easy to find as it was graduation time and most were full with people having celebration meals. We would stay there again Would stay here again
The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful. The only fault was that the lift was only working intermittently and my husband and I did get stuck in it. Which as I am claustraphobic it was a little bit uncomfortable for me.
What was otherwise a very good stay was overshadowed by the fact that one of the 2 lifts was out of action for our entire 3 night stay The remaining lift was also in and out of action for 3 days, resulting in my disabled relative being trapped on the 4th floor on one occasion and not able to access her 4th floor room from the ground floor on another. staff seemed helpless about the prospect of her accessing stairs to the 4th floor Can’t understand how a vital access service did not receive immediate attention when it clearly malfunctioned the first time and still had not had an engineer visit 2days later I find this totally unacceptable and positively dangerous as I was also unable to open the door to leave the lift on two occasions.
This hotel is central and we could walk everywhere we planned to go. We were on the 4th floor and the hotel had 2 lifts one was out of use and the other broke down twice.....
Clean, walkable from historic naval ships, food was fine
The room was very small for the cost. We could barely move in the bathroom. But the service was fine and breakfast was good
Handy for shopping and meeting friends
Not good value for money, unwelcoming staff at reception
Stayed on night and very comfortable, staff excellent and overall a very relaxing stay
Bathroom was very small and cramped Overall our stay was very good. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Would stay again
Hotel is fine, But unfortunately the lifts were out of order and i was on the 3rd for 3nights
Functional hotel which was a perfect location for our trip to the Guildhsll. Comfortable bed and good value for money.
My stay at Ibis Portsmouth was really great although the lift had broken down. This was compensated by the friendly reception staff especially Sike, an African American lady really impressed me on arrival and during my entire stay - not hesitating to ask if everything was fine or suggest what else I could do. She was exceptional, readily available, her professionalism and communication was excellent. At check in, although there was a queue she made eye contact with me with a welcoming smile, gave a beckoning nod that put me at ease and a gesture that made me realise we were finally in the right place (they didn’t know we had missed our way by going to Ibis budget another hotel). What else would you need on arrival ? Diego eventually checked us in but quickly gave me the bad news about the lift. This is not thier fault. He explained that spare parts was yet to arrive. We all had to use the stairwell and in fact the guests were really impressed with reception. Diego and Sike explained the direction to the sea because I really needed to see the ports. The sea port is actually 15 minutes walk. When I needed to eat, I was directed to the restaurant where I met Julilia who such great sales woman, she suggested chicken wrap and tasty cocktails which turned out to be a really delicious. I am definitely coming back for more. Ibis hired some angels who really made me feel at home and enjoyed my vacation. Thank you Sike, Diego and Julia. You exceeded my expectations
Good location 700 bus stop outside train 2 min walk
The lounge was nice but the lift not working was extremely inconvenient when you are traveling with luggage. They offered for us to stay somewhere else but we were tied and flew internationally. The room was way smaller than imagined. Only two towels total. It was clean and location was good.
Friendly helpful staff. Clean and comfortable. Central location. Excellent
The only thing we didn’t like was the size of the room and the tiny en-suite
Very small room , but we where aware of that .lovely stay would definitely stsy again .
Hotel was okay but not sure its worth the price as you only get 1 pillow and the toilet was in a very tight space. Also got a parking charge notice despite paying for the parking, when asked for a receipt by email they didnt send it.
.....
Location to port
Highly recommend, clean, friendly, centre of city with parkinhg.
Small but comfy room
Good hotel, friendly tentative staff and conveniently located for town, rail station and buses.
The room was great. Very happy thankyou. I use Ibis when I can and you are up there with the best. Harry
always good
Very good price. Room clean and friendly staff. Really helpful when the tv wasn’t working and they helped us move to another room
Not recommended for a larger than average person... rooms are tiny. Toilet is squashed into corner you can barely get into... if the bathroom window is open you can bang you head on it upon standing up... healthvabd safety issue that!... but it was clean and comfortable none the less..i expect it would become uncomfortable during hit konths as no air con... staff very helpful despite only setting our door card to work for one night not the two lescing us locked out at 11pm... overall the staff were happy to help and friendly throughout that has to be said.
I did like that it was close to museum and Hard center and busses were readily available.
Staff were excellent, very helpful, and hotel was in walking distance of Guildhall, City Centre, and good public transport. On the downside, Hotel room was the smallest I have ever stayed in, twin beds were a double unzipped, with no room to walk normally between the beds and the wall. Bathroom was so tiny, you couldn’t swing a hamster, let alone a cat! Definitely unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues (even temporary ones).
No fault of the hotel but being right in the student quarter the night club which sounded like it was just across the road was pumping out music until 2.30am
The only issue we had was the size of bathroom, it was pretty tight to move around. Everything else was just what we needed for a lovely night away
Staff were so friendly & welcoming. Right down the road from the Guildhall & within walking distance to the harbour. Lovely stay, would happily stay here again.
This was my third visit to the Ibis hotel Portmouth. It's convenient to the railway station. The breakfast is good and the room is a generous size for a single traveler
Central location near railway station and city centre. Easy walking distance to Gunwharf Quay and Southsea and also frequent buses. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. Rooms are a bit tight but clean and comfortable.
NA
This was an awesome little room, everything you need, clean and comfortable.
Nice food and experience.
Well located for all attractions. Compact but modern and functional rooms. Plenty of carparking.
Was a nice hotel room set up a bit strange toilet door could be on the other side to open out onto the room desk need to be moved in better position of the room overall nice stay
Good hotel/location, downside ensuite very small.
stay regular always good
Ideal for a weekend stay over in Portsmouth, good location and parking.
Organised and efficient, staff were helpful. Only issue was that bookings were only accepted online that was not easy for a group, would have preferred to do this over the phone.
A laid back, relaxed hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable beds in basic rooms. The bathrooms are small but functional.
It was my first time at an Ibis hotel, and I enjoyed it. I liked our mini-kettle, the TV set and the delicious breakfast. It is perfectly located, neat the Uni sites.
Overall the room was ok just needs a good dusting on shelves, but I understand sometimes things like that get missed 👍
Very nice clean Hotel.
Clean
Stayed for two nights. The foyer and bar were surprisingly modern and stylish. Room for two of use was compact and had what we needed. Shower with body wash and shampoo. Soft towels and bath mat provided. Bed was very comfortable. And tea and coffee provided in room. Great price for what we needed. Close to train station and town centre.
The staff very friendly and helpfull .the area very good .easy access to attractions.
Staff very friendly and helpfull.clean ,very pleasant stay .
When we arrived at the train station we put the address shown on Expedia into the maps and it took us to totally the wrong place in the opposite direction! So the address definitely needs updating. The the size of the rooms and especially the bathroom are very small. We had a twin room and the beds were 2ft 6ins wide, not 3ft. The bathroom was tiny, my husband at 6ft 2ins would not have been able to fit in to use the toilet and the shower flooded the bathroom floor. Otherwise, good value for money and great location.
The property was perfect for our short stay and very convenient for shops, food and entertainment venues. Our room was comfortable although quite small but had everything you needed.
Clean and today and polite, friendly staff
Close to station. Convenient for shopping. Clean
Great little hotel we use regularly when catching the ferry to /from Spain. Staff are always super helpful & friendly. Room although small has everything you need and the shower always has lovely warm water. There's car parking available you need to pay for.
Was only passing through, staff polite even thought little contact
Good location, able to park in the hotel car park. Room was clean, bed comfortable ,bathroom very small wc tucked in a cery tight space unsuitable if you have mobility problem or of a large morphology.
Usually IBIS hotels arent that bad, right? But unfortunately this has to be the worst hotel I've stayed in so far, the room was freezing cold when i got into the room (the heater was very tiny and not powerful enough to heat the room, any heat it did give off simply went straight out the window which was closed but still let in a draft), the TV only connected to BBC News, on the website it showed you could cast your device to your TV, but later i was told by staff it was broken. The shower pipe was spraying water in random directions when you turned the shower on and the showerhead seemed to be full of limescale so the water was only coming out of half the nozzles. The bottom of the doorframe was also covered in black mould. When i approached the staff apon checking out, explaining what was wrong with the room the only responce i got was "ah well, we will take your comments into consideration" Safe to say i wont be staying in the hotel again.
Comfortable stay and clean friendly staff
Very clean hotel. Very comfortable beds. Basic rooms but all you need. Helpful staff. Nice welcoming atmosphere.
Great value for money, good central location.
