Crowne Plaza Chester by IHG

Comprehensive selection for breakfast and readily available. Able to park at the hotel for the 4 night stay, parked up and did not move vehicle until time to leave. Hotel close enough to Bus and Train Stations and other facilities to encourage walking! Did not use swimming pool but maybe next time! Booked at short notice with pay on arrival option, which we like.

No negatives for us during our stay.

Food was lovely

Dirty room, some unfriendly staff

Friendly, efficient staff. Hotel is in a great location just a couple of minutes walk from the city centre. The food in the restaurant is top notch.

Rooms are starting to look a bit tired.

Good Location.

The hotel need a face lift

Location, staff and facilities

The rooms are looking a little tired and due a refresh

Breakfast was good. Entrance hall impressive.

Needs updating. Feels very 1980s. Windows didn’t fit (but staff forced them closed). Noisy on the road. Not good value for money. Pool opening hours too short.

Been to Chester few times, but first time staying here ( was wife's birthday) must say the hotel was excellent, big room, staff were very helpful and professional, breakfast's were excellent too, good selection

Room a bit dark (lighting) but not a major problem

Great central location. Good shower. Easy parking.

Both the room and the bathroom doors were hard to open/close. The bed was two singles pushed together and one mattress sagged in the middle.

The location is superb, particularly if you’re attending the racing festival – it’s literally only a five-minute walk away, which made everything so easy. It’s also in a great spot for restaurants and places to eat, with plenty of choice nearby. You really couldn’t ask for a more convenient location. Robes and slippers were a nice touch and the restarant food was exceptional value and if good quality. The breakfast was also of good quality.

The main reception and bar areas are lovely, with a really modern and welcoming feel. Unfortunately, once you move beyond reception, some of the communal areas, particularly the corridors and areas around the lifts, feel a little shabby and could definitely benefit from some attention. The room itself was clean but, considering the cost of an overnight stay, I felt it was in need of some updating. The tea and coffee facilities were also very minimal, with just one teabag each and two sugars provided. The bathroom was clean, but again felt a little dated. The tiled floor had areas of dirty and broken grouting, which let it down. Overall, nothing was terrible, but for the price I would have expected a better standard of finish and a little more attention to detail.

Location fabulous, just around the corner from the racecourse. Excellent location to head into town.

Everything great. Thankyou.

Clean, location is great, comfortable room and beds

The breakfast was not great, very poor quality, no staff, tables not cleaned, juices where diluted

Spacious room. Excellent location. Plan to book again and make use of the pool. Parking super handy too.

Bigger coffee mugs maybe...

The location is ideal for exploring Chester and walking the wall or visiting the horse race track. The room was good sized, comfy and clean. The breakfast was really delightful, full of options.

There’s nothing I didn’t like about it.

Good central location & large sized rooms.

Bedrooms, corridors & carpets looking outdated & in need of renovation.

Swimming pool

Food waited over 15 mins for husband food once i got mind

Staff and the Location

Nothing

Location was perfect for the races , lovely room Cozy bed and very clean

All good

The Crowne Plaza Chester is ideally situated just out of the city centre so an easy brief walk there and back. The beds and bedding are comfortable and we slept well. The breakfast is high quality food both hot and cold.

It was good foe location not far from the town and bars.

The room wasnt cleaned properly left over rubbish found around the bed.

This hotel is superbly located. Clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and catered for my dietary requirements.

Not a lot. The decor is starting to look a little dated, IMHO. That said, it did not detract from my overall experience.

Location and staff

Issues with kitchen limited dinner choice

The staff firstly Sean checked us in he was very helpful

The Reception and bar / breakfast area was beautiful The corridors very poor indeed looked like we were in a different hotel worn carpets dirty looking paintwork very disappointing

The central location

Central clean breakfast was lovely

Think for one overnight stay quite pricey

Really nice hotel, great location, food and bar really good, good value for money.

Paying £20 to park

Spacious bedroom and big bed, fridge in room, big TV. Staff were pleasant and friendly.

Room

Bed bedding , windows dont block any sound out wind howling through the gaps in them

Central Chester

Nice restaurant but service was slow and much of the menu was not available £20 parking charge

The bar reception area and breakfast room Quick lifts, great staff

Bathroom, Dated hallway Dated rooms Car park charge ( double the price of public car park IN THE SAME BUILDING!)

Good breakfast good tv and comfy bed

Poor attention to detail. A ball of hair found in the both plug. For £120 a night the hotel is dated and the bathroom has no ventilation. There is no air con so glad we were not there in a heatwave

room was great clean . breakfast was great could of done with being a little warmer but other than that it was lovely and plenty of choice . check in staff very friendly and host on the breakfast was very friendly , bar staff great as well we travelled as a family of 17 for a double birthday . 8 of them were children , i must say the hotel was very child friendly and they enjoyed the swimming in the morning .

nothing

Comfortable room, good breakfast and dinner, friendly, professional staff, parking, location.

More conveniently located electrical sockets.

The manageress and staff were excellent in communicating the issues they were having with the room cards. Dealt with it very professionally

Decided we should’ve booked two nights instead of the one.

Lovely stylish room, excellent choice of breakfast

The approach under the car par was a bit disconcerting

Excellent location and the health facilities are a great bonus

The pillows

Good quality breakfast

Queuing at reception for checking in : only one person on at 4.30 and long queue At 80 years of age queuing for 20 minutes left me in need to find a toilet very quickly afterwards

Excellent location and facilities

Location

Rooms are tired and in need of refurbishment and pool area is very small

Location

Room service was late in the day, when we had returned from the day out. The hotel restaurant service was very slow, perhaps they were short staffed. But staff were very friendly and apologetic, we were discounted 25% for the inconvenience.

Convenience

All fine

Staff were great and helpful, room was spacious with everything you would need, swimming pool and sauna was lovely. Great location

The gym facilities were incredible! Food was great, great location and the bar, restaurant and the room staff were great!

The receptionist looked like she couldn’t be bothered to be there, not welcoming upon arrival and barely looked at us on check out, not even a smile Car park is expensive

Good location. Nice to have use of a swimming pool.

Small bottles of sparkling water in room fridge would have preferred still as we're in when first arrived. Had no slippers to give us for use to the pool and back to room. We mentioned when booking in that we were celebrating our Golden Wedding Anniversary the next day. He wrote it down and said we'll have something for you but unfortunately nothing at all appeared.

Fantastic location, usual standard that we expect from IHG. Breakfast was excellent & the lady that greeted, us was exceptionally cheerful & helpful. Parking is great too - lots of options next to the hotel.

Nothing

Central location. Spacious room which was clean.

Pool area needs updating.

Great location. Good. Reakfast. Staff good.

Parking, we had two vehicles…, we were able to park in the hotel lot parking for one car and below the hotel for the other, but the hotel parking was way more expensive than the general parking

Convenient location, friendly staff, good facilities and great breakfast

Location

Noisy neighbours in room 231 from 3am onwards!

Staff were very friendly and efficient. Food quality was excellent.

A few marks on the sheet. But no major issue.

Great location close to race course.

Rooms are looking a little dated now.

Location.

Car parking. Public car park below on same plot is much cheaper than using hotel run level.

It’s clean and near to shops restraints. We always stay there.

We had a lovely stay! Check-in and check-out were smooth and quick. Breakfast was delicious and our room was clean with everything working. The leisure facilities were also kept very clean and in good condition. Above all, the warm and friendly staff made our stay truly special. Well done to the team, we look forward to seeing you again soon!

Nothing to note

Great location Staff really helpful

Car park - other hotel residents very inconsiderate parking on the ramp and other spaces that werent designated spaces

Stayed many times at hotel always found it clean and good value fur money

Nothing all good except now you have to pay extra for an omelette

Room okay very standard. Breakfast good in pleasant dining room. Staff efficient and friendly. Excellent facilities but didn’t have time to use them. Very good location.

Disappointing entrance and all a bit samey .

Bien ubicado en el centro de la ciudad aunque la entrada desmerece. Buen restaurante con horario amplio.

Lo único negativo, me tocó habitación hacia la avenida y el ruido de los coches llegaba bastante

Excellent

Great place

Nothing

Staff lovely, made a fuss of my little boys birthday which made it extra special Breakfast very good

Pool area and changing rooms- worn, need a revamp

Everything!

Location was great, fab breakfast, lovely communal areas (bar, pool, restaurant).

Room was a little tired - scratched furniture and walls

Location was great!

The bed! Mattress very uncomfortable and pillows were awful

Everything

Like everything

Amazing location. Has everything you would need.

There was nothing I didn’t like.

Location

The price

Location, gym and leisure facilities

Nothing

Great having a pool and sauna to relax in at the end of the day. Really good buffet breakfast too.

Only coffee provided in the room, no tea bags

Location

The hotel is tired & we had no water on Saturday morning until we spoke to reception. The maintenance man said that as we were on floor three the pressure would be low, we had stayed the weekend before & it was fine.

Convenient location, my room was clean yet dated and the staff couldn’t be more helpful

Dated, could do with a refurb

Perfect location for exploring Chester and just 15 minute drive to the zoo Breakfast was excellent as was the pool The hotel was beautiful and the whole family enjoyed their stay

Parking seemed expensive when you are a guest

No everything was fine

Orange juice for breakfast very strong tasting

Excellent location. Good facilities. Great staff. Great restaurant.

Parking expensive, but was convenient.

Convenient location

Overpriced for room we had

Everything

Nothing

The staff were lovely and the location was very convenient. The breakfast was excellent.

I chose this hotel as the size of the pool looked good for swimming lengths but it was much smaller than the picture implied. Giving the length of the pool would be very helpful.

Location, pool, food and the staff

Main entrance onto the street is dark and not easy to see your way around at night

Location is as good as possible. Comfortable beds. Extraordinary breakfast.

Car park was a separate cost - outrageous. A bathtub instead a shower room is a poor experience and cleanliness of it was not acceptable - a lot of hairs and a layer of something on the bottom just made me sick. Cleanliness of the swimming pool out of any standards. Overall looked like 30 years old building, once renovated - they had budget enough for golden handles, but not enough for refurbish corridors, rooms and a cleaning service.

Location and facilities and size of bedroom

Away from the reception areas some parts of the hotel looked a bit tired particularly on the corridors from the lift to the room

Beautiful hotel perfect location

Little expensive

The location was great. The room was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were warm, welcoming, and helpful. The breakfast was plentiful and very good.

Nothing

10/10 location is excellent

I liked it all

Location

Great location, very close to all amenities

The reception staff were rather dismissive and almost trying to put across that they were too busy to assist

Location

The room doors slamming to close

Good breakfast. Good location

Bit pricy

Brilliant clean and central

Location was perfect, very clean. Highly recommended 10 out of 10.

Nothing, it was all great.

Great location, good sized rooms and the air conditioning in the last heatwave was a blessing.

The Location was great. It was as stated 5 mins walk to the minster. The room was of a good size and very clean. Breakfast was superb. All staff whether restaurant, reception,, bar, and housekeeping were friendly, ap[approachable, and vey helpful. Really liked the green labels you could hang on your door is you wanted to help lessen the environmental issues that are on the increase, as these showed you were happy for your room to not be serviced during your stay. Fine for us as our visit was just for 2 nights.

Only problem was with the toilet not flushing well. Bit embarrassing for us but not a great situation for housekeeping staff.

Just close to town

The room had a door for next and you can hear ever think

Lovely room great breakfast

Would benefit from a refresh or update in decor
