The building was beautiful the food was great the music was great the outdoor area was great the decor was great and great choice of drinks
Rock Inn with life performances to boot. The music downstairs was not a bother at all. I really enjoyed it. I mention itt as a heads up for future guests to know what they are booking. Rock on!
Great fun, unique place with excellent food
The stairs are very steep and the rooms are a bit tired (beds not great and carpet could do with a change)
Great location and rock themed. Excellent breakfast
Excellent location
Extremely loud music until the early hours, could not sleep..advertised 20% off parking at the ncp car park only to be told this was a mistake and should have been removed 3 years before. The manager at the hotel was Extremely rude to a female member of staff upon our arrival which was very embarrassing for her and ourselves.
Location
Mould in shower, filthy shower curtain, music noise at 2400, indifferent staff, uncomfortable mattress, very poor decoration and maintenance, over priced.
Convenient for city centre, good price, friendly staff
Mattress was very cheap and poor quality so could feel all the springs
Loved the rock style themed room. Ideal size for a single person. It was comfortable and clean.
Nothing.
Location
Tired and the headboard was uncomfortable. Lots of noise from main road. Woke up at 7am on.bank holiday Monday.
L'atmosfera e la posizione
Central location
Sticky tables, upholstery all torn, needed painting, loud music until the earlie hours, we booked a two night stay but left after the first night, absolutely disgusting!!!!
Great location, literally in the middle of town.
The hotel offers reasonable value for money, but the rooms are undeniably dated and in need of an upgrade. The carpets were dirty, and the bedding was disappointing—the mattress was lumpy with noticeable springs, accompanied by paper-thin pillows and a flimsy quilt. However, the biggest issue was the fire safety light directly above the bed. The bright green ceiling light cannot be turned off, making it feel like sleeping with the main lights on all night.
Central location
Very tired decor throughout. Mattress very soft and could feel the springs. Pillows had had a lot of use..seen better days. Chair in room had ripped upholstery. Don't quite understand how it had a fabulous 8.5 rating on this site
Breakfast was good. Staff were friendly and helpful.
The bed was a little hard and pillows were very flat. Could hear the music from the bar from 2nd floor but wasn't very loud. The tv on in the next room however was very loud and could hear clearly what guests there were watching. Poor lighting also
For us the location was key for the event we were attending in Chester and this rated highly for this. Being a music lover, loved all the themed rooms, the place rocked throughout the day but respectful of those around at night, loved it! Staff were welcoming and friendly
We called into the accomdation early so we could drop our case off so we could enjoy our day and check in later, whilst the initial staff we met were friendly and accomdating, the attitude of an abrupt "can't check in till 3" was not so welcoming, from we assume to be the manager. There was an extremely bright green light in our room above the bed which kept us awake.
Very friendly staff. Excellent location. Really good breakfast. Comfortable bed. Clean. Great atmosphere.
A bit dated and maybe needs a redecorate.
it was central x quirky x and staff were excellent
nothing really
Very close to race course
Head room
We did like it was a rock theme and we did hear the band from room they were amazing
We did have to leave the windows open and we get it's a rock bar so we were expected to here the pub music ect , we did have to leave the windows wide open due to the weather and it was very warm , we could just here outside noise and doors banging early hours also we had no TV as it had no connection and there was extention leads plugged in which on two occasions sounded like they were crackling so we didn't use it lastly a lot of stairs to rooms
Le bar avec le concert Le décor est original
Pas de climatisation ou de ventilation alors qu'il faisait très chaud dans la chambre Ce serait bien de rajouter un petit ventilateur en été. Une veilleuse verte au dessus du lit ne s'éteint pas
Quirky listed building above a pub, but still quite spacious with good facilities. Excellent breakfast
A bit tired in places, a you need to be able to climb stairs 🙂
The beds were very comfortable and smell fresh
The TV was not working and l had two children who were looking forward to have screen time
No breakfast
The Quirkiness of the rooms
Nothing
Changed our room at last minute . Paid 162 pound .
Absolutely everything! The Saddle is one of our favorite places to go for a top night out, and to stay overnight has always been something we've wanted to do. Thank you for an incredible stay!
There wasn't anything we didn't like, it was all perfect!!!
Rooms and bathrooms were clean, but there was mold in the shower. Breakfast was tasty and good value for money. Staff were very pleasant. Don't want to submit a poor review. Would rather email the Saddle Inn privately. We were only staying 2 nights with 3 other couples and the issues we faced could not be addressed during the time we were there so we didn't raise them with the staff.
Mattresses were very poor and lumpy. Bedding was domestic, not hotel/B&B standard (which are designed to withstand frequent laundering). Pillows were almost flat. Mold in the shower. Only 4 coat hangers for 2 people. chipped furniture. Could only use 3 drawers as the 4th drawer didn't have a handle. Not much storage so didn't use refreshments as our toiletries etc had to be stored on the same table. Bed only had one knob on the corner of one side - scraped my arm on one of the others with drew blood.
We loved the quirkiness of the hotel, staff were great & breakfast was very good.
I liked everything!! Sadly you're not often blown away these days, but I was!! I was in the Pantera room 🤘 also saw the Black Sabbath and ACDC rooms - excellent, would love to see the other rooms. My room was quirky and very comfy, we had a great night in the bar watching an Alice in Chains tribute 🤘 We also had breakfast which was outstanding. I'll be back, you've been warned 🤘 Thank you
Nout
Heavy metal themed rooms, live band the night we stayed until late which suited perfectly. Very good full cooked English for breakfast from very pleasant staff. Great location with onyl a very short walk to the centre. Would stay again on a night with a live band.
Bed comfort was disappointing
Lovely pub
Heat needed a fan
Fab location great lively pub
All good
Staff were exceptional very friendly and helpful
Could do with fans in the rooms also didnt like the outside fan making loud noises through the night however once I mentioned it they contacted the brewery to correct the problem. I also didn't like the green light on the ceiling in the room being on all night.
Location and some staff where good
Staff later on where aggressive and accused one of our party of smoking in room when they hadn’t. Barged in room where young girl was sleeping and threatened to through them out unless they paid a fine of £140 which they paid as they where scared. Member of staff was male with beard who said he was the owner but not sure whether that is correct.
Everything, comfy clean room, great breakfast and the pub meal we had for our tea, staff brilliant, nothing too much trouble. Even gave us a bottle of water to travel home with.
There was nothing i did'nt like.
Everything
Lovely friendly service. Staff very helpful. The Themed rooms were great.
We came here for a weekend with friends and to attend the races the location was great to get to the course and also to get to the town. The room was spacious, clean and the decor was ace we were in the ACDC suite. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was awesome too.
It’s location
The bed was dreadful and so lumpy. The room was boiling hot. We could not wait to leave
The music, the staff and the breakfast wasn't too bad either. We liked the way they named the rooms.
The fact that the window in the room couldn't be opened. I understand why but it would be handy to know that beforehand and they supplied a fan but the fan looked older than the Chester wall itself and didn't provide much breeze very stuffy
Rock bar, funky bedroom , yummy breakfast
Bathroom was opposite bedroom
Location fantastic Bar great
Duvet and pillows could be updated
Value for money location
Perfect location, great breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely big room.
NA
Staff went the EXTRA mile for us to check in.
Room was fab, all rooms have a different theme. Breakfast was excellent and good value for money.
Lack of parking.
Liked everything about this place, a proper rock themed pub and more. The management and staff were so friendly and helpful. The decor and ambience were amazing. The service and food were excellent and plentiful - evening meal and the made to order breakfasts - along with tasty pub snack menu available late into the evening. Great rock band on the Saturday evening and lots of banter and fun with the Sunday afternoon acoustic set. Location is only a 5 minute stroll to the "Rows" and the centre of Chester. If you want the height of luxury and to be pampered, forget it. If you want a good time with genuine folk, you've got it.
An upgrade of the mattress in our room wouldn't have gone amiss, and maybe some sound-proofing to the main road side bedrooms - though it was an extremely busy Chester Race night!
Great location. My type of pub. Really like what the pub offers to locals and visitors. If you like rock and metal music, you'll enjoy your stay. Food was good. We mainly ate out, but we did eat at the pub one evening. My girlfriend is vegan and can be fussy with what she eats, but she really enjoyed the jackfruit burger she had. I had the steak and it was good. Staff were friendly. No complaints.
Pigeons! Oh my days. Pigeons cooing all fecking night and it was hot when we stayed. I get they're going to perch somewhere, but right outside our window and in the rafters. Mmmm. Linkin Park! They feckin looove Linkin Park here on the jukebox. At least change it up and play some Voidhanger or Impiety, lol. All jokes aside. We enjoyed our time here.
The staff were lovely and very helpful and my room was quaint . They didn’t charge for dogs either . Brilliant location in the city .
I thought the room was expensive for what it was but I guess it is Chester and because of everything going up they have had to put their prices up . Not that long ago a room that I was in would have been £70 a night ( breakfast was extra ) . You have to be pretty fit to manage all the stairs to the bedrooms has well . Meals were expensive has well £17 for a small / med fish curry . Bed was abit lumpy .
The Saddle was a lovely place to stay. The location was great! Rooms clean and the breakfast was delicious. We will be back!
location, venue and room all nice and to expectation
We arrived to find there was a concert happening beneath our room. Next level loudness (and i like to party!). Wasnt informed about this, and was told it would end at 1230... loud noise until 130-2am. I feel that if you are going to expect your guests to put up with that then having a 10am check out time is pretty harsh!
Location, staff
Rooms need a little updating , very warm
Location to the city centre and a fantastic breakfast for £10 per person
Nothing
Everything
Nothing it’s perfect
My partner was running the Chester half marathon and the Saddle Inn let us have an extended check out time so my partner could have a shower after the race, which was priceless
The pillows are a little thin.
Handy location after watching a gig downstairs
Poached egg undercooked
Good location, good food, lovely staff, decent room.
It's really nice, unfortunately for me I didn't like the stairs, but it's an old building so to be expected. I would recommend the Saddle to everyone I know.
The stairs
Everything! Looks amazing and welcoming. Very clean. Egg and bacon at 11.45 at night was the icing on the cake! The rooms are amazing we had Megadeath room this time and it's super spacious and clean as was kiss room last time we stayed. Can't wait to stay again already
The toilet seats in the ladies toilets could do with tightening up.
Great location, superb breakfast and room had all I needed.
You can hear the music from the pub but I was expecting it due to location and took earplugs.
I loved the room decor being rock band based, enjoyed open mic night as arrived on wednesday totally unaware of the band rota and had a great breakfast in the morning
nothing
