Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Everything. The location was excellent, the decor was lovely, the room was beautiful, the bars and restaurants and in particular the veranda restaurant for breakfast were perfect. The beachfront location was perfect and the pool and lazy river were a pleasure to use in the morning. The friendly manner of the staff just further added to our stay.
Nothing.
Hermosa playa sin mucha gente
La recepcionista mayor asiatica
It was beachfront
I felt my room smelled a little stale/musty
Character building friendly staff beautiful views and lovely beach
Zeer vriendelijk personeel.
The position close to the beach
Excellent staff
Everything was beautiful. Clean spaces they offered a robe and slippers. The staff was nothing short of amazing and accommodating.
I greeted by Hannah the general manager . She asked me what prompted our visit, I replied we were heading to our cruise the following day and that it was our honeymoon trip that had been delayed to an illness that occurred a month after we married. She immediately up graded our room and later in the day we found complimentary celebration ballons and a beautiful card .so so thoughtful. Above and beyond customer service . . Thev times we ate thec3 waitstaff were exceptionally knowledgeable. Two beautiful women , onefrom peru in the lunch area , a vivacious young student from India in Oceans2000 and a young man Ronnie. Their over the top customer service was instrumental in making our stay memorable. And I have to mention a young bell hop , Jack. He just loves being so accommodating and makes being attentive job 1

Great service
Pricey dining
Direkt am Strand. Sehr schönes großes Zimmer. Sehr nette Mitarbeiter. Super Pool!
The staff is very friendly. Location and sitting area in the back are awesome! Food was pretty good. Balconies are nice too.
I paid an extra $100 to upgrade to a premium room on the 11th floor. The first full day I got to listen to someone pounding on pipes REALLY loudly. I was told I could call ahead for beach setup - I did that and it wasn't done when I went down 25 minutes later (I was told 20 mins.) and there were three guys sitting there. More pounding the 2nd full day, but not on pipes. I wish I had not upgraded.
The view.
There’s no microwave in the room.
Easy access
Some staff a bit grumpy at pool
Excelente atendimento, quartos muito espaçosos s confortáveis.
Everything in one place
The seaweed
Directly on the ocean
Pool area gets crowded
Loved the lazy river and private beach access. Wonderful staff too!

The older asian lady in reception was very rude otherwise amazing stay!
We had an amazing stay at the Pelican Grande. The hotel was beautiful, clean and the staff was exceptional! Throughout our stay the staff was always very attentive, kind and willing to help. We had several meals - breakfast and dinner at ocean2000 - the food did not disappoint.
Lovely location and a charming property. Rooms are huge and very pleasant with views and balconies facing the ocean. The restaurant serves good food on a waterfront veranda as well as indoors. The rooms could use a few more amenities such as robes, slippers, toiletries and for some reason we did not get housekeeping service on our last day, not sure why. The car valets are very efficient and polite, especially Andrew who immediately grabbed my suitcase and carried it down the stairs to the car. It would be helpful to have change available at the front desk so we could tip better!
First and foremost the main thing to note is the service you get while staying at The Pelican. John at the beach for food and beverage service is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. He is THE reason we came back. His attentiveness, fun energy and he makes you feel like special requests are his specialty. Frankie on the beach set up is so accommodating and friendly. They make a great team. The girls (Alex and Cayleigh) at the Emporium make THE BEST coffee. Special tip when visiting…. Always get your coffee there instead of the restaurant or room service. The quality of what you’re getting is equivalent to a high end coffee shop vs an at home pod system coffee. Also…. 12 flavors of Gelato to choose from, it’s the sweetest treat after the beach or pool. Lastly, a special Thank you to Alex (bellman) for the service and also for recommending one of the BEST local restaurants Barolo Cucina D’Autore ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. It’s 2.4 miles away and the Italian food is excellent, everything is made right there… the pasta, breads and desserts. It’s like your eating at Nonna’s house.
Extremely Disappointing and Misleading Promotion I booked a spa treatment through ResortPass as part of a promotion that indicated we would have access to the resort amenities after our spa treatments. This was my last weekend in Fort Lauderdale with my best friend before I move to Texas, and I specifically chose this experience because we wanted to spend the afternoon relaxing at the resort together after our treatments. We received our spa treatments and, as soon as we paid, we were given wristbands and told that we were only allowed to access the beach — not the resort pool or other resort amenities. The beach had significant seaweed, and with temperatures around 100 degrees, sitting on the beach for the afternoon was not remotely the relaxing resort experience we had booked and expected. Had we been told upfront that we would only have beach access and could not actually use the resort amenities, I never would have booked this promotion. The entire promotion was extremely misleading. Advertising this as a spa experience with resort access when the only access provided is to the beach is not what most people would reasonably expect. What was supposed to be a special, relaxing afternoon with my best friend before I moved out of state ended up being a huge disappointment and ruined the plans we had made for my last weekend in Fort Lauderdale. Buyer beware: If you are considering booking a spa treatment here specifically because the promotion includes resort access, verify exactly what you are allowed to use before you pay. Our experience was that we were not permitted to use the resort amenities at all — only the beach.
Amazing hotel with superb location, all was just perfect though a bit pricy. We loved the stay all was good and the room with the ocean view balcony just top notch.
All good. Pricy.
The hotel was fantastic, the food in the restaurant and the staff were all amazing and super kind, including Mark who was kind enough to take all our luggage to the car for us at the end!
Amazing access and view of the ocean
Fantastic all around!!! Great people, great location. And honestly we will be back next year. Service was great. I have no complaints at all. We have stayed at other beach front resorts and so far Pelican has been top notch. Beds are comfy, room was clean. The food is a bit pricey but it was excellent.
We've been staying at the Pelican Grand as a family for over 13 years, so writing this review is extremely disappointing. We have so many wonderful family memories here and used to look forward to returning every year. Unfortunately, the level of service has changed significantly over the last few years, particularly at the front desk. The staff used to genuinely care about guests. Now, requests often seem like an inconvenience, as though they're doing you a favor by addressing them. This year we arrived around noon after confirming an early check-in ahead of time. Only one of our two connecting rooms was ready, which we understood. When the second room was ready, it had a horrible urine/syrup smell. We immediately notified the front desk and were told they'd look into it. Their solution was to bring us a rollaway bed, which obviously did nothing about the smell. The odor was so strong we had headaches that day and into the next. I actually had to put the couch cushions outside on the balcony because the smell was unbearable. Eventually, we basically had to demand new rooms. We needed connecting rooms because we were traveling as a family. At first we were told that wasn't possible, but after continuing to push, somehow connecting rooms became available. What bothered us most was being treated as though we were asking to move for some frivolous reason. A room that smells so badly that guests have headaches and need to put cushions outside is unacceptable, especially at this price point. After our experience last year and again this year, this was our last stay at the Pelican. After 13+ years, that's incredibly sad to say. We have watched our children grow up during vacations here and have so many great memories. Unfortunately, the care and customer service that kept us coming back just isn't there anymore.
Our server Matthew was absolutely wonderful! He was friendly, attentive, and professional throughout our entire meal. He made great recommendations, checked on us regularly without being intrusive, and made sure everything was perfect. His positive attitude and excellent service really made our dining experience special. We would definitely come back and hope to have him as our server again!”
I often go to the Pelican Grand Beach Resort for brunch when I visit Fort Lauderdale—something I do quite frequently. So, when a last-minute opportunity arose to spend a few days there, we decided to give the hotel a try. Upon arrival, we were informed that our room wasn't ready yet—something that can happen when you arrive early. Two hours later, after waiting at the bar, a receptionist told us the room was ready, but the person in charge of inspecting it was on a break and couldn't be disturbed. You read that right: they were on a break. We received our keys half an hour later. To access the pool, you have to hand a card to the attendant at the checkpoint to get a towel in exchange. The next day, we managed to get six cards, allowing us three towels each. You might think they do this to prevent people from taking towels back to their rooms or leaving with them; however, seeing the state of their towel collection—all worn out and falling apart—you can't help but wonder about the logic behind such a ridiculous policy. The term "resort" is called into question when the actual experience feels more like a public pool somewhere between the Bronx and Hialeah: blasting music, outside alcohol being brought in, and kids splashing everywhere and bothering other guests—with no one doing anything about it, other than acting as strict guardians of their lavish towel collection. I don't know exactly what their hiring process is; perhaps they have internship programs, temporary visas, or social initiatives that explain the staff's lack of professionalism—not to mention their appearance and personal grooming. Fortunately, it was a one-time experience, especially considering the many other places we usually frequent; still, it was quite shocking to discover the reality of this hotel—which calls itself a "resort"—beyond the brunch experience we were used to. Among the highlights of the stay, I would certainly single out the housekeeping staff—always attentive and ready to help—as well as the restaurant staff (we had breakfast there a couple of times) and Anna, one of the managers, who assisted us with great kindness. Unfortunately, I don't think we will be back.
We just checked in and we're a need of a great dinner. Matthew greeted us with a wonderful vibe. He was so patient and welcoming. The atmosphere was beautiful on the patio and the Salmon and Chicken, cheeseburger for the kiddo were divine. It was perfect. Matthew made our dinner. He even greeted us the next day. Thank You
Location and facilities were amazing. Staff was pleasant upon check in
Our room was filthy. So filthy we received a full refund, as we had pictures, which have already been supplied to management.
The staff at the property were great…shout out to Alex in the gift shop who was always cheerful and professional and makes a great Latte! However, if you stay here avoid the third floor, south side. We got to hear the laundry carts every morning at 6:15 am and the washing machines running starting at 7:15 am. Housekeeping was a bit spotty as well-no service the first day and they couldn’t seem to figure out the coffee pods-some days we had 6 regular pods, one day we had 2 regular and 2 decafs, one day 3 regular 1decaf. Not the biggest issue. The noise was my main complaint.
Beautiful hotel, almost perfect atmosphere. Unfortunately, a couple of things fell short of expectations. First, the pool area: we arrived on Saturday around 2pm and the staff member in charge (Lady) told us it was full, with no willingness to help us find an alternative or offer any solution. Beyond the inconvenience, the way we were spoken to was rude and dismissive — no apology, no attempt to accommodate us. On top of that, breakfast at the hotel restaurant was very poor — basic, unappetizing, and honestly quite unpleasant for what you'd expect from a hotel. Due the issue at the pool area I wouldn't stay at this hotel again.
Mark was extremely helpful loading our luggage into the car. He was friendly, attentive, and made the process easy.
Went for the restaurant the oceanfront view is unbeatable. Matthew was our waiter and he gave us excellent service. He was quick, explained the menu and gave recommendations, and was very attentive. The beer was really good the one with the wolf and the food was excellent. Very nice presentation and taste.

Nothing
Mark and Damien were phenomenal. Great representation of your establishment.
We had such an amazing time! My daughter and I came for a staycation before kindergarten starts and it was the perfect place to be! The pool and lazy river are perfect for with kids. Mark at the valet was amazing helping with all of my super heavy luggage and was super nice! All of the other staff members were super friendly as well. I highly recommend this resort. Oh and the food was also so good!! That watermelon feta salad by the pool… perfection!
Great hospitality and beautiful hotel. Mark, Dolly, and Jack provided above and beyond service.
Just loved our room. 5 person suite with two king beds, living area separated by glass windows with blinds that can close off. Shared balcony with a view right out to the sea. Enough space for all! Lazy river was nice (bottom surface was rough - suggest swim shoes), and pool was small. But it was just perfect for a family with kids. Restaurant staff went out of their way to be helpful (avoiding allergens, finding options off the menu, speedy breakfast before departure). HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
We went for our anniversary and sat under the stars with the light from the fire torches and the sound of the waves as background. The food was delicious and our server Matthew went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our evening. Highly recommend 🤩
location
Unfortunately our stay wasn't that great. The guy at the pool , Alex , was very rude to my wife yesterday Already told the front desk representatives while doing the check out. Other than that , the premises needs an upgrade in the cleaning aspect and quality of services like the coffee at the gift shop. We ordered a coffee and it was really bad and there was no other option to get coffee in the hotel. The beach is not private as mentioned , there was a homeless guy Tuesday afternoon walking around in the beach and into the water in front of the hotel and there was another homeless guy screaming in the morning on thursday. Sorry but for the price we paid on overnight parking and resort fee , I would've found a better option for my birthday vacation. My disappointment with the room , the quality of the food , the incident in the pool , and the quality of the coffee will make me think twice before returning to this place.
Beautiful property, and wonderful staff. Rooms were large & clean. I especially loved our balcony and ocean view.
Property is not really within walking distance of much, so had to Uber everywhere. Seaweed was a problem, so we weren’t able to enjoy the beach.
The staff was super nice and the bar was GREAT!!!!! OT was our first time in Fort Lauderdale so we will be back!!!😃😃😃 Great food and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE LAZY RIVER!!!! Thank you for EVERYTHING!!!!!!
What I didn't like was the brown stuff from the water.😞😞😞 It couldn't be helped I guess, but it still was a great time!!!! 😄😉
Beautiful resort, very clean and all staff were very friendly and accommodating.
The lazy river was great . Also the first impression in the lobby. love that it was ocean front
Staff really pressured to add additional gratuity even though the 20% was already added. Also valla was excessive at $67 a day in addition to the resort fee, and the towel exchange was overall complex. This hotel gives a $300 a night experience for $500+
Loved my room, beautiful and comfortable. View great. Loved the lazy river. All the staff was amazing. Loved eating out on the porch. Food was good. We enjoyed happy hour at the bar. Bartenders were good
The plugs and lights next to bed were confusing to work. Bathroom needed a little more privacy especially with gap in barn door. One waitress in bar was a bit weird. We were sitting at the bar first night we got there and she kept trying to straighten out all the bar stools and we were sitting on the corner so we could face each other but she wanted my husband’s stool straightened and it wasn’t far from the bar and he is very thin but we laughed when other people came and moved 3 stools because we knew it would really drive her crazy. Weird
Location was great right on the water
Besides the amenities, the King suite was incredible!
I love the property is right on the beach, the minute you walk in you get a beautiful view of the water. The room was excellent , great views and plenty of space. During our stay we even got to see a sea turtle nesting.
The pool is very small. The online pictures are deceiving. One of the elevators wasn’t working so it took a long time to get anywhere.
The Hotel was very nice & pleasant, including the cleanliness of the room.
The elevator needs to be remodeled, and the valet personnel need to be more pleasant and helpful to tourists with heavy luggage. They do not offer any help. They park the car and expect us to tip them, so they need to be more pleasant.
Pleasant staff, very clean, great location
Parking fees
Muy lindo hotel ampliamente recomendable
Todo muy bueno!!!
Anteciparam o check-in. Entramos no quarto ainda de manhã. Quarto maravilhoso.
Lazy river and swimming pool to the side makes wonderful addition to the hotel. Nice and quiet location far away from the street noise. Great variety of complimentary refreshments by the elevators.
choices in the restaurant for kids... Ocean 2000 doesn't have good variety for dinner... we needed to order from O2K Lounge, but we heard that they don't like to do that
We had a wonderful stay at Pelican Grand Beach Resort. The location is outstanding, with breathtaking beachfront views and direct beach access that made the experience truly memorable. The resort offers a relaxing atmosphere with plenty of beach activities, making it perfect for both families and couples. The large oceanfront pool was fantastic, and the spa overlooking the beach was an absolute highlight—peaceful, beautifully designed, and the perfect place to unwind while enjoying the incredible ocean views. Our room was exceptionally spacious and thoughtfully designed, with separate private areas that provided extra comfort and privacy for our family. The entire property was clean, well maintained, and had a welcoming coastal charm. The staff were consistently friendly, welcoming, professional, and always eager to help throughout our stay. Valet service also amazing. thanks Mark and Damion. Overall, our experience was amazing. These were only minor inconveniences compared to everything the resort has to offer. From the beautiful beach, spacious accommodations, excellent amenities, relaxing pool and spa, and outstanding hospitality, this resort exceeded our expectations. We would definitely stay here again and will gladly recommend Pelican Grand Beach Resort to all our friends and family. Thank you for making our vacation so enjoyable!
The only areas for improvement would be the valet parking fee, which at $60 per day felt quite expensive, and the elevators, which were a bit slow during busy times.
Great location
Very slippery shower floors. Fall risk
Everything was excellent. Giovanna at the pool, and John at the beach were so amazing....both of them knew what we needed before we even asked! The evening shuttle was so incredibly convenient. That alone would bring me back to the property! The room was beautiful and very spacious. We enjoyed the sunrise from the balcony.
The elevators could have been quicker, but there was obvious construction. We just had to wait a fairly long time being up on the 10th floor.
I liked the amenities and the location.
The staff in the beach area are not so nice. They are grumpy.
Pillows were horrible
Great facilities, courteous staff, the beach set up and pool were great. Restaurant had great food and drinks.
This will sound small but we were sitting out on the back porch enjoying a drink. The hotel has the feel of being in a tropical paradise. The music that was piped outside was so depressing that my wife and I burst out laughing. We only had one drink because we couldn't stand the music. I told two staff members but nothing changed.
Foi tão grotesco que eu disse “thank you for the big help”
Clean
22% service fee included but server misguided me to add tip
This resort is exceptional for many reasons. The ocean view was spectacular, the restaurant was delicious for dinner and breakfast. The spa was very inviting and relaxing. Our beach walk at sunrise and sunset was just gorgeous.
I didn't like the fact that I had to purchase coffee each morning. I also think that it would not be such a sticker shock for valet if it were just included in the price of the resort.
View, comfort
nothing
Beautiful room, excellent food and service. Exceptional staff.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the outstanding service provided by the Front Desk Manager Hannah Bogart. From the moment I arrived, she was warm, welcoming, professional, and genuinely committed to making my stay enjoyable. Her attention to detail, prompt assistance, and positive attitude made a lasting impression. Any questions or requests were handled efficiently and with a smile, making me feel valued as guest. It is clear that she takes great pride in her work and set a high standard for customer service. Thank you for going above and beyond to ensure a wonderful experience. Your professionalism and hospitality are truly an asset to the hotel. I would gladly stay here again and highly recommend this hotel because of the exceptional service I received from Hannah Bogart. See you soon Hannah.
John, the man working the beach was phenomenal! We have now stayed at this resort 4 times and the last two times he was very quick. He never let us go hungry or without water. A few years ago, I was assisted by another gentleman named Adam. He was also just as friendly.
The woman working the pool area was friendly, but when we placed our order, it ended up not coming out and the food was cold and the salad was hot when it did. She tried her best to serve everyone, but we constantly kept getting passed up or neglected. I didn’t realize how important drinking water was at the pool/ beach was. Because we stayed at the pool this last time, the wind was terrible and my throat was so inflamed from having a hard time getting water. We were kept up the last night/ morning around 2-4am June 19th. I’m assuming workers were moving furniture and moving carts talking loudly. They definitely kept us up for hours.
Nice location!! Comfortable bed, very clean
Valet is $62 per night
Family oriented and beautifully maintained
Self parking not easily available.
I loved the balcony and the beach service
The price of the restaurant
Everything
Perfect location. Staff wonderful!
Location was right on the beach. It was beautiful with a southern vibe. Love the spa, loved the restaurant (it had the best food we ate the whole trip) loved the drink and food service on the beach.
Loved everything about it but if there was small negative it would be you had to uber to everything. Nothing was in walking distance
Excellent location. Amazing staff and yummy food and drinks!
Seagrass was horrendous though. Pillows were uncomfortable. Didn’t like the no shower door.
What a charming hotel very attentive staff right on the beach Mark was great with suggestions and making sure my stay was great will be back
My main goal for this vacation was simple: escape the cold Chicago weather and indulge in some much-needed spa time. Pelican Grand Beach Resort and Pure Spa exceeded my expectations. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of the staff throughout the property. Whether at the restaurant, by the pool, or on the beach, service was always quick, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Spa treatments were the highlight of my stay. I enjoyed treatments every day of my getaway, and every experience was pure pleasure. Jean gave exceptional facials with an incredibly delicate approach and truly magic hands. Darby and Susan were both wonderful massage therapists—professional, skilled, and friendly. A special thank you to Susan for the after-sun treatment that absolutely saved me after a little too much Florida sunshine. I would also like to recognize the two spa administrators. They went above and beyond to ensure every detail of my experience was seamless. My requests were not only heard but consistently accommodated, which made me feel genuinely cared for throughout my stay. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at both Pelican Grand Beach Resort and Pure Spa. The combination of excellent service, a beautiful beachfront setting, and an outstanding spa made this a truly relaxing getaway. I will definitely be back and look forward to visiting again.
Awesome place, we had a great experience overall. Most importantly we had a wonderful time thanks to Giovana (pool area), she made our stay extra grand! Thank you
The staff and service during our stay was great. Daniel, Cam, Mark, Alberto and others who helped us were wonderful. The resort was very clean and well run. Will definitely be coming back!
We had an amazing dining experience at Ocean2000 at The Pelican Grand Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale! Chef Steve’s food was absolutely delicious, and our server, Carlos, was incredible from start to finish. We enjoyed the Crispy Grouper Sandwich, fried calamari, buffalo wings, oysters Rockefeller, and tuna tartare (not pictured because we devoured it too quickly!). Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The food is just as amazing as the oceanfront view. Thank you to the entire team for such a wonderful experience — we’ll definitely be back!
Pelican Grand the resort where you DON'T need to leave. From the pool to the beach, spa, to the food its truly heaven. This marks my 6th stay from yearly solo trips, to couples trips, to sisters / family vacations even my bachelorette its my go to US destination. On this specific trip we were celebrating my sisters birthday & cancer battle so this trip was extra special. Pelican Grand is beautiful and welcoming everywhere on the grounds. Additionally the hospitality at Pelican Grand is unmatched some key members who surprise me year after year. *Pool - Gio & Hani remember us from every single trip by name! *Beach - Rec - Adam- he's incredible-- he notices everything and always checks in when he sees us. *Matthew - Ocean2000 made us feel special every single meal for the 5 nights we were there. *Mark - Concierge / Bell Hop - he was there every single day waiting to just help. He is kind and truly set the tone for the trip. He should run the front desk! A note for the hotel / management: we had some security issues with a faulty hinge on our hotel room door prevented it from self-closing, which is a security issue, especially for 3 ladies traveling with cash, designer bags, and a week worth of goods. Front desk did not take me seriously after 3 firm follow ups and even hung up on me they finally sent someone up from maintenance and we opted for no one else to enter our room as there are no cameras in the halls. Please be attentive that staff closes the doors after leaving the rooms, and try to make sure the hinges are in good working order as this would deter me from returning solely due to security measures.
Ocean front
The hotel is in need of maintenance starting with paint. I had mold over my head in the restaurant from the air vent, one of the air vents was about to fall out in the middle of the room. My balcony was in need of repair and paint. It had a chip about 6" long of missing and there was mold and rust showing on the banister of the balcony. The door leading out to the balcony was so squeaky we just propped it open to avoid the noise every time we walked out. The room was a studio when I paid $700.00 for a one bedroom. There was no kitchen as I purchased. The valet parking attendant lied to me and my friend asked the same question and got exactly what I was asking for. There was NO PHONE SERVICE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE of the hotel so I missed meeting up with friends for dinner and breakfast. I will not ever stay here again.
The food was amazing! Matthew was a great server he was very helpful, happy, and accommodating.
Hotel was beautiful and clean. Staff was friendly and professional. Our shuttle driver mark was the best as well as mark the valet! Perfect for a family or couple get away. Will be back!
I’m writing this review from the perspective of a parent, because this is exactly the kind of information I would want to know before booking a hotel with young children. We stayed here with our children, including a baby and a five-year-old, and I was extremely disappointed. At over $900 per night, I expected a much higher level of cleanliness, service, convenience, and attention to detail — especially for families. To be fair, the room itself was a nice size and generally comfortable. But the property overall felt tired and in need of basic upkeep. It may have been a beautiful hotel in prior years, but it now needs repainting, refreshing, and much better cleaning. One example that really stood out: my five-year-old held onto a banister while walking up a ramp, and his hand was literally covered in black grime afterward. As a parent, that was very off-putting. It also meant I had to have a wipe handy every time he used a banister to walk up/down stairs or a ramp. The biggest issue for us was that the hotel did not feel thoughtfully set up for families with young children. I called ahead to ask about a crib and highchair, so the hotel clearly knew we were traveling with little kids. I did not think to specifically ask about a bathtub because the hotel photos I had seen showed tubs. When we arrived, we were told that only rooms on higher floors have bathtubs; we were placed on the second floor. For a family traveling with a baby, that matters. The removable shower head in our room also could not reach more than about two feet, which made bathing two kids virtually impossible and made every evening unnecessarily stressful. Another major problem was the elevator situation. One of the two elevators was out of service, and an employee told me it had been out of service for as long as he could remember. With a stroller, taking the stairs was not really an option. Often, when the one working elevator finally arrived, it was full and could not fit us. At one point, I waited more than 15 minutes just to go one floor. That may sound minor, but when you are traveling with small children, a stroller, and all the things that come with them, it becomes a real inconvenience. There were several other details that made the stay feel far from family-friendly or luxury-level. The hotel requires towel cards, which felt out of place at a resort charging luxury prices. They also charge you $20 if you lose a towel card (!). A stuffed animal was placed in the room, and when we asked the bellhop whether it was complimentary, he said yes. It was not. We were also locked out of our room after receiving late checkout (late checkout was a benefit through my travel booking, not the hotel, to be clear). As one positive, the pool has a zero entry (perfect for playing with a baby) and there is a lazy river. The lazy river wasn't the cleanest, but it was sufficient and it worked well for two kids at the pool. Both pool and lazy river were on the small side though. The food was also very expensive and underwhelming. There is an automatic 22% gratuity added, and even a single child’s scoop of ice cream was $9. I had a $50 breakfast credit for two people, which was not enough to cover an entrée and coffee for two once the automatic gratuity was added, so we ended up spending much more each morning. For families trying to factor in the real cost of a stay, that is worth knowing. Parking was also $60 per night, with no practical nearby alternatives. There was also frustrating confusion with our bill. I was sent a bill, reviewed it, asked for a credit to be applied, and was then sent a second, lower bill. At checkout, however, I was given the original higher bill and told the second bill was incorrect. If it was incorrect, I do not understand why it was sent to me in the first place. The lack of clarity and competence added unnecessary frustration at the end of an already disappointing stay. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel to families with young children, especially at this price point. The room was spacious, but the cleanliness, maintenance, elevator issues, lack of bathtub, confusing billing, and very high incidental costs made the stay far more stressful than it should have been. For a hotel charging luxury-resort rates, I expected a much more polished and family-conscious experience.
Love the resort layout , the building was easy to navigate, had a bar with food at one end and a restaurant at the other with a beach front patio that connected the two areas. Perfect for families and seniors. Love that almost all staff was super friendly. Loved the direct beach access. The pool was not too busy even on a holiday weekend. The property included a few events like bingo, snow cones and other games on the beach. The patio had live music. The ice-cream store was a nice touch or bonus including muffins and bagels etc. the location was perfectly far away from the main strip chaos. Close enough to visit and far enough away to feel like a quiet escape. I enjoyed how close we were to the local state park as well. The pool service was amazing! Accommodations made for my handicapped mom and Asd son daily ! The room was perfect loved the beds the high ceilings and large bath area. The furniture was a little dated and worn but didn’t impact out stay. I loved the roof top terrace on the 11th floor- is you stay go see the priceless views ! A local told me about it. Loved taking the ride with my teens on the sea Bob- what a unique and fun experience! It was great to have a property that accommodated my senior mom with a walker as well as my active teens!
The front desk check in was a huge turn off. No details on the property, like pulling teeth to get answers. No literature or map available for what the property had to offer. The questions I asked were answered with bare minimal responses and the employee seemed not cut for the job. When communication is minimal and literature is non existent this was a bad start to the stay. I would like to have had a small tangible document that told us more about the property. I would have liked the option to have or not have our room stocked with junk food and alcohol. When we arrived we had minimal space for our own items ( small refrigerator) and when asked to remove the 15 plus bottles or cans of alcohol, and junk food I was told there would be a $75 fee to do so. This too was a turn off. I now needed to monitor my children and the resorts junk food and alcohol ! Not interested in spending the $ on kid impulses and a more important access to alcohol. The communication was done well through texting for the most part. But that human component and with clear communication can not be replaced by technology. The face of the resort is the front desk and check in process and this resort did not have it for me for being a $500 plus a night property. The hospitality of the rest of the employees seemed to be wonderful. Especially the kitchen chef , food runners and pool staff!
Wonderful Florida resort but prices definitely high end. With fees and taxes expect the $1000 per night range. Food in Ocean 2000 was excellent. Octopus was probably the best I've tasted, and sea bass was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Overall, a good experience.... but that price tag ???????????
From the beginning of our girls trip (three sisters), to our last moments there, every corner of the resort is beautifully appointed, grand, and welcoming. The hospitality at Pelican Grand is unmatched; every single member of the staff we encountered at the resort was extremely accommodating, attentive, friendly, and helpful. On our first day, we arrived early and laid by the pool, and enjoyed lunch and drinks, and then went up for a triple "couples" salt stone massage in the Pure Spa, where we literally thought we died and went to heaven. I had Avanel as my therapist, my sister had Vicky, and my other sister had Darby-- these ladies were so skilled at giving the most relaxing massage, that we decided to book another one for the day of our departure. Our days at the resort had a rhythm, wake up and enjoy the sunrise from our balcony, get dressed for the day, grab a coffee (coffee is great btw) from the adorable little coffee/gift/ice cream shop downstairs, and then head for the beach! On the beach chairs, side tables and umbrellas are brought down to the shore, you don't have to lift a finger for anything. At 11am lunch and drink service starts, and the servers are really wonderful. When we grew tired of the beach, we made our way to the pool to lounge and swim, and paddle around in the lazy river. Gio remembered my sisters from last time they visited the resort, which amazed me-- and Adam-- I'm not sure what Adam's job title is, but his role seems to be everything to do with managing the outdoor activities, and he's incredible-- he notices everything, makes sure everything runs smoothly, and ensures a good time for all. When parents weren't watching their kids who were jumping into the shallow part of the pool, he stepped in and corrected their behavior, in just the right tone. I was very grateful for that. Furthermore, he always inquired about our stay, and whether or not we were having a good time. After the pool, we went up to our rooms to freshen up, and then down to Ocean2000 restaurant for dinner. The menu is fabulous, I ate a different fish dish each and every night. My sisters got steak, and they raved about it. All of our servers were wonderful, but Matthew really did a stand out job making us feel special, and even brought out a birthday card signed by the kitchen staff for my sister, along with a good size slice of carrot cake, dressed with a single candle. After dinner, we enjoyed the breeze, rocked in the rocking chairs on the back porch, and when we grew tired, up to bed we went. Each day pretty much went the same, and it was so very relaxing. On our last day, we did go back for that second massage. Natalia at the front desk helped arrange everything, and I had a different therapist, Susan, who was absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend bookending your vacation with visits to the spa, it sets the right tone in the beginning, and puts you in a state of zen instead of a rushed frenzy upon departure. I can't stress enough how kind everyone is here-- it's a big part of what made the stay so pleasant. Some things to note, it is very windy! I though I would be hot, but at night I was actually chilly! Definitely bring a light sweater. Also, at the time we were there, there was quite a bit of seaweed-- I might have swam further into the ocean if it wasn't so bad-- so keep the time of year in mind for seaweed season. Some notes for the hotel: 1. Could use an adults only pool somewhere on the property. 2. This property is just begging for hammocks! 3. A faulty hinge on our hotel room door prevented it from self-closing, which is a security issue, especially for 3 ladies traveling-- please be attentive that staff closes the doors after leaving the rooms, and try to make sure the hinges are in good working order. Other than that, it was absolutely perfection. We are already planning our next trip!! And I’m planning on bringing my husband next time, it would definitely be a romantic getaway for couples for sure !
We had a very nice time nice hotel and room. Our biggest highlights were Carlos and Sara in the bar and in the restaurant. They were absolutely awesome in every way. They made our special occasion extra special so kudos de Carlos and Sara!
Khushboo was wonderful- kind, attentive, and great with my kids. She made dinner delightful!
The hotel exceeded our expectations with regards to staff, location , facilities and overall quality. Our only disappointment was the restaurant which is over priced and the food quality isn’t on par with the quality of the hotel. An area for the hotel to focus on. However, I would recommend this hotel as a terrific place to stay at a reasonable cost.
The restaurant.
The employee that helped us transport out luggage was extremely helpful. Also offered us complimentary water and we happily accepted,
Rob is the man! Extremely helpful and courteous
Wonderful dinner at Ocean2000. Our server Carlos went above and beyond. Very attentive and thoughtful service with delicious food and drinks.
Great beach location, and really nice rooms. The rest of the property isn't great, but it's good enough. The pool is much smaller than I expected after seeing photos. But the beach is fantastic, so it didn't matter. My biggest issue is that this hotel, like too many others, has these deceitful "resort fees". It's such a dishonest way to charge more for a room without having to admit it. The fee was over $50/night. This is just dishonest, and the excuse that you get XYZ with it is nonsense since all of that was included historically. And the excuse that it's in the disclosures/fine print is equally nonsense since you know you're in the wrong if you have to hide something in some side text rather than just making it clear and part of the rate. I don't know who came up with this idea, but too many hotels do it, and it's just dishonest. I won't stay at hotels that do this if I have a choice. As part of a group rate, the fee was waived, but if I am going to stay outside of such a deal, I won't be staying at this property again, which is a shame because I enjoyed it otherwise. Great room, great staff, great beach. But that practice is slimy and we as consumers need to stand up to it.
I truly don't understand the 5 star reviews this place is getting. When you have a permanent sign indicating to use the stairs because the elevators are "under maintenance", there's an issue. I see from other reviews that this has been going on for quite some time. Miraculously, all elevators worked on the Saturday of our stay because there was a wedding on the "resort". (I use that term loosely) Do your research before you go. This place is not walkable to restaurants/shops so you are forced to eat/drink there if you don't want to venture out. Anything you buy is an additional 22% gratuity. If service is lacking, you still pay the 22%. They do not provide shampoo, conditioner or body wash. You can, however, purchase it for something stupid like $28/bottle. Seriously? I have never been to a hotel where it's not provided. We only came with carry-on luggage, so that was super convenient. (I wish I would have read reviews) The pool is very small, and the chairs are jam packed together. You have to keep track of a really annoying towel card and if you don't return that card upon checkout, it's a $20 charge. We didn't have a rental car and that saved us $60/day to park it. The left & right charges are ridiculous. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.
