Very friendly, lovely room and reasonable quiet.
If you had walking issues, the car park is a climb.
Staff are amazing and nothing is to much trouble. Everywhere is clean and food was lovely.
Didn’t notice the £10 charge for parking per night.
Lovely location, nice restaurant and sitting area. Rooms were overall comfortable. Lots of parking spaces
Gym and spa were paid which wasn’t clearly advertised on the hotel amenities page
I loved the location. The hotel had 2 different places to eat which I liked. Lots of facilities available. The guy who served us in the pub to our meal was excellent. Great customer service.
It was tired inside would benefit from being updated. It was very long way to walk to our room with no lift available.
Yes thanks
Nice to stay
Booked a room with a view , we got the car park …side view ….room was fine and quiet , bed comfortable
Dreadful selection of drinks in bar and exorbitant prices , bar food menu was abysmal… very limited choice and chefs not available so less choice
Room was clean bed was comfortable
Long walk to room
Lovely impressive comfortable hotel
Woken up at 5 am by very loud guest in next room and kept awake , doors slamming and people arriving then. Knocked on wall but At 545 couldn’t bear it and saw man leave , and told him how loud and inconsiderate he was and he apaologised and was quieter. Whilst not hotel fault was awful.
Ate in the Alexander which was very good. All staff were friendly and helpful. Good choice and quality breakfast
Staff were friendly, I did not use hotel facilities or eat in the hotel. The bed was extremely comfortable and I loved my room. Would definately book again Great value for money.
Nothing
The location was brilliant
Looking onto a hill. We have mold on our bread
Swimming pool
The bedroom view was poor - a wall and bushes. Bedroom basic and dated . Plug in air freshener in bedroom which suggests they smell . Restaurant carpet and fittings dirty and needs redecorating . Dated and old furnishings and fittings . Not 4* as described. Hotel tried to charge £10 parking fee as used booking.com Got food poisoning from the restaurant meal and was ill for the whole night .
The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. The decor and the hotel in general was a little tired, could probably do with brightening up decor-wise. Breakfast was good.
The room walls were rather thin, so noise from other guests in the adjoining rooms and down the corridors was obtrusive. Parking was available, but a bit awkward to access and charging for parking is a bit cheeky, given that there is nowhere else to park if you are staying at the hotel.
Everything
Nothing
Grounds were excellent
Approach to entrance very old and unassuming
Room was nice but very dark toilet was very difficult to flush but clean and tidy lovely fluffy towels bed was comfy
Saturday morning breakfast was chaotic but we did go down at 9am there should have been more staff in both the restaurant but especially the kitchen as had to wait for hot food as only one person doing the cooking and he was under unneeded pressure to get food out and fried eggs were hard
Location
Pub access. Breakfast
very helpful staff
won't accept cash- is this legal?
Excellent
Nothing really
Food was fab
All was good
Rooms, pool, restaurant - all fantastic
It was a long trek with many stairs to get to our room
dinner was a little expensive, breakfast was fabulous, room was excellent and bed was very comfortable
price of evening meal
Outside garden, location
The junior suite was not very big, the pictures were very misrepresentation of reality as it overlooks a dark interior patio and not outside views. Very noisy bathroom. When sleeping bed pillows are literally less than one meter from room door. Paid extra parking for booking through booking.com when normal visitors do not pay as it is an open area and 100m from reception. Breakfast average quality.
The bedroom and bathroom were modern and very clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The staff were all very welcoming, pleasant and efficient Good location, 25 min walk into Kendal.
The pool was not as expected. Small dark and dingy The view from the room was a roof and pipe ducting
Accommodation good
Dinner expensive and not very good breakfast was awful and £16 not worth 16p
Good location, nice room
They charged for parking (about 3 miles out of town) because i booked through booking.com
Short drive to town centre
The menu in the Bar/Restaurant area Had to use the restaurant menu for dessert Again very expensive for what was described Didn’t like the fact that I had to pay £10 per night to pack at the hotel with no other option This isn’t right when other visitors don’t pay
Fantastic location , hotel gardens amazing . Great pool leisure facilities.
Not so much things I didn’t like hotel could do with a little tlc .
Great location prefect for hikes Very close to Kendal town
Gym and wellness centre very dated Food and drinks expensive Twin beds had wheels and very mobile . Not the best for comfort Parking is charged daily extra
location and lovely hotel and staff
nothing
Staff were very professional offering a lovely service. Hotel is in a very nice setting.
The pool was smaller than expected and busy at the weekend but we did manage a swim on Sunday.
Lovely location. Very relaxing hotel
👍👍
Lovely staff, beautiful location, good shower pressure
Pillows were extremely uncomfortable They tried to charge my card £50 without asking " as a card they would use to charge for room charges"
Restaurant and spa area. Lounge had games. Refreshments in the room. Clean bathroom.
Robes were stiff and not soft. Sofa bed not great.
The location - beautiful surroundings. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
The pool was nice, good gym, close to Kendal and good car parking.
Miserable person on reception. Gave us little or no information without having to ask and was colder than a frozen fish. Felt like it was a poor start and put us on the back foot. Didn't eat in the hotel because of this lack of warm welcome. Not what you want after a 7 hour drive. Room was dusty, hot and tired and not great value for money at all. tiny bathroom and poor shower. No car charging facilities.
Quiet location Well equipped rooms On site pub Comfy bed
Long corridors
Staff was amazing and food was delicious

The staff were amazing, cheerful, helpful, great customer service.
The burger in the lounge was over cooked, dry for my taste.

Excellent gym and swimming pool. Friendly staff, food reasonable
Decor a bit tired and the wallpaper was peeling on the ceiling. The room was clean however.
Friendly, good location
Large, clean comfortable room (standard King). Friendly staff, lovely grounds.
Room not ready despite arriving nearly half an hour after check in time (3pm). We were offered a complimentary drink in the bar and had to wait a further 20 minutes . There was a lengthy delay in receiving our order in the restaurant, servings were small bland and overpriced .we were charged the service charge and had to request it be removed. In the end we paid £72 for two mains one glass of wine. Paying £10 a night for parking feels stingy for an out of town location. .
This is a comfortable hotel, with good facilities and very nice staff. The breakfast was fine overall (see below re scrambled egg).Otherwise, good coffee and a decent range of breakfast food. Dinner in the adjoined Pub was good, though steak had to be redone, was not medium rare. the room was comfortable.
At breakfast the pan of scrambled egg looked very overcooked, solid umpy and extremely unappealing. A staff member made me a fresh one, which was very good, A really pity about the large of it, which was removed by another member of staff. The shower in the room was a bit dated, but fine otherwise. The hotel could advertise that it is just over a mile outside the main town area, would have been useful to know that.
Hotel was lovely for a short break. We also used the spa facilities and had massages and facials which were lovely and highly recommended. Breakfast has lots of choice and was delicious.
Handy location for those just coming off the M6. Staff in the little pub on-site were excellent.
£10 parking for the day is ridiculous. Especially if you arrive in the early evening and then leave the next morning. My own fault really - had I realised this I would not have booked in. Some staff were great, others clearly couldn’t be bothered to show decent courtesy. Almost had my morning coffee taken from me right in front of me before finishing it by an over-zealous member of staff, not to mention them dropping the butter-covered knife from my side plate all over my phone and wallet that happened to be on the table.
Lovely staff. Great facilities. Room was perfect will definitely be coming back
Large room. Nice breakfast.
Didnt realise I had to pay extra for parking. This seemed excessive given extensive parking available on site and the relatively high cost of accommodation. The pizza restaurant was so-so quality - more like flatbreads.
Excellent
Access to the room - no lift had to carry cases up several flights of stairs.
Location, atmosphere, the room was amazing
Tv was not working, no apps
Excellent dinner; all of us ordered different dishes from the menu and they were all very tasty. Wandering around the hotel grounds was surprisingly good ; we weren't expecting them to be so extensive and well-maintained with the proximity to the road. Staff were very friendly.
Room felt a little tired and the hotel had a 'conference' feel. Breakfast was fine but hardly any fresh fruit options.
A lovely large hotel and a good location for exploring the Lakes. 30 minute walk(downhill) into Kendal town centre. The Greenhouse Restaurant was lovely with a good choice of food for dinner and breakfast and all the hotel staff are courteous and friendly. The hotel itself was spotless, and my room was beautiful, comfortable, and had everything i needed.
Honestly couldn’t fault it.
Locations etc and food was nice lovely
When we arrived we had 2 large suitcases. The staff at reception was not helpfull to explain how to get to our rooms, was really vague even when we asked more questions how to navigate. We were told no escalator at all, but once we gone up 1 floor up- we found there was a lift we could have taken to 1st floor up and then 2 flights of steps but we ended up taking 3 different flights of steps. Would have been really helpfull if staff could have explained the location of our rooms and how to get there more specifically coz we had heavy luggages. We managed but if this happened to older family member would have been abit nervous. Otherwise all was great thanks
Staff were very welcoming and attentive. Location and views along with cleanliness of the Hotel.
I have been staying at this hotel regularly for nearly 15 years, often bringing my daughter with me. It has always been a valued family hotel and a regular stop when driving south from Belfast to visit my parents. Sadly, on this occasion, it was a complete let-down. On arrival, I was surprised to be told that because I had booked through Booking.com, I would have to pay an additional £10 per night for parking. After so many years of staying here, this immediately felt disappointing. The room itself was spotlessly clean, and I cannot fault the housekeeping. Unfortunately, the bed was extremely uncomfortable, with the springs clearly coming through the mattress. A hotel bed should at least provide a comfortable night’s sleep, and this one certainly didn’t. Breakfast was another disappointment. The buffet looked very good when first approaching it, but by the time we returned to our table, much of the food was cold. Eggs and pastries had completely run out and took far too long to be replenished. I appreciate the hotel was busy, but the poor cook behind the counter appeared to be on his own and was clearly trying his absolute hardest to keep up. I want to make it clear that the staff were lovely, as they always have been, and my criticism is certainly not directed at them. My disappointment is with the way the hotel now appears to be managed. After visiting for so many years, it feels as though standards have been allowed to slip, with more emphasis being placed on generating additional revenue than on providing the comfortable and welcoming experience that made us return year after year. It’s genuinely sad to write this after nearly 15 years of loyal custom, but based on this stay, I will unfortunately be looking elsewhere in future.
Short staffed and service is very bad. Had to wait for very very long each time.
Lovely hotel in beautiful location. Room was spacious with lakeland views. I especially appreciated how clean and sparkling the bathroom and bedroom were with snow white towels that looked brand new.
La position Le grand Park La belle Vue
Location friendly staff
Very clean rooms, nice location with plenty of parking. Nice breakfast location and reasonably friendly staff. When we had an issue with the room the member of staff who helped us, Heather, was exceptionally friendly and helpful.
We booked a king room but unfortunately when we got to the room it was extremely damp to the point that after a few hours we considered it to be uninhabitable. Unfortunately we were told that the only other available room was a standard room and it was not until we had moved that we realised there was no air conditioning in that room (we chose the hotel specifically for the air conditioning). Luckily it wasn't too much of an issue and the fan they provided was fine. They also refunded the difference in cost which was very reasonable of them. The king room we booked also was only accessible by stairs which is a bit surprising for a hotel. The receptionist who gave us the keys said we would be fine because we were "young and fit" which felt it could be very assumptive and they should probably stay away from making such assumptions! Although none of these were huge issues I think they would be something I'd warn others about. We'd overall stay again, but take care to check some of the details beforehand.
Beautiful grounds very friendly staff good spa facilities fran and Ronaldo masses very good Had evening meal in the resturant 2 nights beautiful food staff very friendly nice hotel would come back again
Everything was fine
Excellent, friendly staff.
The ladies on reception when I checked in were most welcoming. The breakfast service team were the most welcoming and friendly breakfast service team that I have ever met! The breakfast was really good - A good selection, and the poached eggs were perfect!
The £10.00 charge for parking - The hotel is not cheap to stay at, so I feel that adding an additional charge for parking your car is unnecessary and a tad greedy! There are ample parking spaces so it is not as though the spaces are restricted. The swimming - It is difficult to actually get to use the swimming pool, due to lane bookings, aqua aerobics classes etc.
The views are stunning, and the breakfast was better than average (nice sausages). Close to all the beautiful things to see in the area
The pool and changing rooms were quite small, as was the steam room, but I guess it's all relative
We have stayed twice before and enjoyed every moment of this beautiful hotel. Lovely clean rooms and gorgeous breakfasts.
If there was anything I would like to change its the £10 parking fee which we knew nothing about till we checked in....maybe that could be added to the room rate or told about it at the time of booking.
Everything
Nothing not to like
Gorgeous location out of the way but not too far from town
It was very good
A fire alarm at 4 in the morning!
Warm welcome and beautiful room
Dusty fan? Haha but it was fine after I’d wiped it all clean x
The hotel was beautiful. Views from the bedrooms were magnificent. The rooms very quite large and very clean. The bathroom was very clean. Excellent water pressure in the shower. The lounge was very comfortable and looked beautiful. Staff were extremely nice and polite and helpful. The hotel location is perfect.
The variety of fruit for breakfast was rather limited. There was no handshower if someone did not want to take a full shower.
Great reception staff and bar staff, but gym/swimming pool staff were rude and unhelpful. Such a stark contrast!
Awful guy on reception for the pool/gym. Made us not want to go back Room ridiculously hot and no aircon. Said we would be given a fan and it did not appear. So 2 nights of very bad sleep for the whole family Tried to do the trail and got lost/couldnt find it!
Very clean, lovely staff, nice room and no noise at all. Food absolutely fabulous
Nothing to add to this section
Location
Paying for parking, recently introduced and hidden in the booking system. Just be honest and put the room price up and stop hiding hidden fees. No way to cool the room without opening a window, that had no way of stopping being fully opened from the path that was outside the window on the ground floor.
The room was comfortable with air conditioning. The gym was first class and one of the best I have seen in a hotel. Dinner was excellent and the service was very good.
Breakfast was very disappointing and was way below the high standards experienced elsewhere in the hotel. The fried eggs were hard and rubbery, the scrambled egg had dried out and the black pudding was solid. I could not believe we were in the same hotel that had served such an excellent evening meal. Maybe we hit a bad day.
The bed was very comfortable and the restaurant served delicious food whilst also providing me with confidence in their gluten free selections.
Location was lovely
Lovely staff, comfortable rooms with the best views off the balcony !
Breakfast wasn't the best, Continental breakfast fine but long wait for cooked items.
Room was very clean and tidy
Car park at rear needs to be more clearly marked Breakfast was not that good as did not have a good selection of fruit available
Nice Hotel staff friendly and good facilities. Food in the restaurant was very good along with good service.
Nothing
Beds where very comfortable had the best sleep ever. Staff very friendly Location not to far from the town for drinks
Great location, close to the M6 if you are driving, or walking distance from the railway station. Great facilities with A/C in some rooms, comfy beds, and very quiet. It has only sauna not spa. Didn’t use the pool, nor the gym so can’t comment on that. Breakfast is really good, they bake their own pastries, good little bar too. Restaurant and pub are fine but nothing to write home about. Staff are friendly and polite.
Not great for people with difficulty of movement as there are steps everywhere, even when you are arriving from the car park. There is a lift but doesn’t take you to all the hotel rooms. Sauna is too small and there is no spa.
Evening meals. Room
Breakfast . Swimming in lanes 4 and 5
Breakfast, gardens
Having to pay £10 to park!!!!!
Friendly staff. Room very quiet. Amazing views over the countryside.
Cash not accepted. £10 to park. £50 card pre-authorization.
Lovely hotel. Not much going on in Kendal
Went out for something to eat Sunday night at around 8.30 nowhere serving food, very disappointed.
The hotel's location was good in beautiful grounds All the staff were very helpful we asked for an upgrade all rooms were full however they had a cancellation and offered us the room it was brilliant nice large room and great views made our stay. It was also great to see a young man with Downs Syndrome working in the restaurant as my son has Downs Syndrome this was great to see
Breakfast on the first day was good however the last 3 days we found some of the food over cooked possibly in the hot trays too long so a bit disappointed However we did order poach eggs they were very good.

Great views and helpful staff
No fan or A/C in the room
Everything was great. The staff were polite, welcoming and kind. The restaurant for breakfast and dinner very good. The pool enjoyable.
Air conditioning would have been good in the circs. More info about gym classes, prices, availability at time of booking if poss.
Staff were great. Car parking was at a cost per day 10£ which seemed unreasonable. We were advised if you did not book through booking.com we would have had to pay.
A bit of a way out of town
Its location and the bed was really comfortable
There was no fridge in the room - and no bottles of water, and no complimentary bits in the bathroom - which I would have expected at a 4 star hotel
The hotel is very comfortable and located in a beautiful, quiet area. The staff are friendly and helpful, especially Sarah, who was exceptionally kind and professional. I highly recommend this hotel, and this definitely won’t be my last stay. I will be coming back again.
Breakfast was very good, pleasant staff in all areas, would stay again

Location great grounds were lovely. Breakfast was nice the gym and pool were good
Very tired and tatty wasn’t the cleanest either
Bed was comfortable. Breakfast decent. Staff helpful when I made an enquiry.
Being charged £10 for parking "because you'd booked on Booking.com". No fridge in room, No air con or fan.
Location, staff
No air-conditioning, dark pool,
Very good location and great staff. Nice clean rooms with good facilities
Drink prices at the Bar were ridiculously extortionate. £24 for a double JD and coke and a large glass of house red Merlot!!
It was a beautiful setting, rooms were nice.
The parking was a very long way from my room. Lots of steps carrying suitcases wasn’t easy.
