Loved the location, it was centrally based for our road trip. Loved the breakfast, the food was really well cooked and presented and piping hot. The hosts were really nice.

The room was advertised as a 'cosy double' so we expected it to be quite small. It was very small with far too much furniture, it made it look very cluttered. The room and bathroom were surface cleaned, there was dust and cobwebs in corners on doors and in the bathroom.

Pauline and Bill were exceptional hosts, very friendly and welcoming. The breakfasts were lovely and Bill was so helpful. A very well run guest house.

Step climb to the property with your bags, if you are not driving. Room a little small and wanted to seperate single beds, space taken by a large bed and a single bed assuming this was for a child.

We came by train and although the Glenn is only 5 mins from the station for a couple of 70 year olds the short incline to the top of the location was hard to walk...

It’s a really beautiful clean comfortable place. The breakfast was lovely. Pauline Bill and all the family couldn’t have made you more welcome.

Paula & Bill, are excellent host; they go above & beyond to make your stay comfortable. The breakfast is to die for, the chef is most obliging.

We had a wonderful 3 day stay, house is incredible, rooms are so big and clean, breakfast was great and we loved Jasper. Would struggle to get better for the price. Thank you Pauline and Bill for making the Glen so special.

My only comment is it's not the best location for what we wanted to see in the lake district but the house is so wonderful it makes up for it.

Very friendly owners running a lovely small B&B. Coming from London I had forgotten that most other places are very friendly and welcoming. Delicious breakfast with a great selection of options. Sadly hotel breakfasts always finish too early for us late risers, so we can rarely eat lots in the morning! Very easy to get to from the station and a taxi service was suggested that collect at all times for a reasonable price. Large rooms with a TV and large bath/shower. If we have the same event next year we will be back :)

Room very clean and spacious, great choice of breakfast which was very nice. They also had the little extras like a small pair of scissors to cut open any of the sauces for breakfast and homemade marmalade.

To be honest I couldn’t fault anything we were happy about the whole thing.

Für dieses Gästehaus haben die Engländer das Wort 'lovely' erfunden! Die Gastgeberin und auch der Koch sind einfach nur liebenswert, freundlich und hilfsbereit! Ein fabelhaftes Frühstück wird individuell frisch zubereitet. Das ganze Haus ist liebevoll eingerichtet und dekoriert. Es gibt ausreichend kostenfreie Parkplätze direkt am Haus geschützt in einer Art 'Hof'. Das örtliche Pub ist in wenigen Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar und bietet sehr gute Speisen! Das Gästehaus liegt zwar etwas außerhalb aber man ist zu Fuß in 30 Minuten im Zentrum und öffentliche Verkehrsmittel sind gut verfügbar.

What a wonderful spot! Kind and attentive boats, made sure I had food to eat for breakfast with my dietary restrictions (and it was delicious!) and the room was super comfy and clean. Walking distance to a pub with excellent dinner and The Helm was lovely to walk up for sunset. Overall an absolutely wonderful stay, highly recommend!

The Glen is a charming and comfortable place to stay, with an excellent spacious room and bath. The breakfast was wonderful, with many choices, and the dining area was bright and roomy. I loved the convenient parking which was close to the small number of steps to the entry. The host and hostess were warm and friendly and, it turned out, extremely helpful to me. While exploring nearby, I had a tire blowout, and my rental did not include auto club. My hostess contacted her mechanic and through them linked me with a roadside tire service which provided timely and reasonable roadside assistance. Had it not been for her intervention, I would've easily lost a full day and, I suspect, a lot more money. Her assistance, like the accommodations, was way above average.

We were very happy with our stay at The Glen, the room was spotless, lovely decor, the attention to detail was fantastic. Ich bin rundum zufrieden, es war ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt hier. Ich bräuchte das Frühstück etwas früher als üblich, kein Problem. Es wird auch alles frisch gemacht, einfach super. Die Inhaberin ist wirklich sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Zimmer war sehr gemütlich und es war alles da was man braucht.

Amazing full English breakfast and service exceptional.

We stayed here for 5 nights and honestly it was absolutely superb. Pauline and Bill are great hosts and very friendly. Their breakfasts are lovely and we looked forward to them each morning, especially the scrambled egg and smoked salmon. The room was very clean, spacious and just what we needed. Bathroom felt modern and the views were really nice as well. The guest house is situated only a couple of minutes from the Oxenholme train station so it’s really easy to get to places like Kendal if you don’t fancy driving, plus there’s a pub 30 seconds walk down the road which was nice. If we are ever back towards this area in the future, the Glen will be our first and only stop, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We liked everything here.

The room we stayed in was spacious, comfortable and gave beautiful views of The Helm. The property itself had a rustic and historic charm to it which we revelled in.
