Breakfast View from some rooms are lovely Brilliant location for the train
Location excellent
WiFi in 107 not brilliant but worked - discussed with management and it is being improved.
Location
Not convinced this was the price I agreed to. Also trying to get a message to the hotel re check in was difficult. Also when we arrived we just wanted a drink from the bar and apparently this wasn't possible
Very convenient for where we wanted to be, booked last minute i mean half an hour last minute! Were very helpful and very accommodating. The room was great nice size the bed was amazing very very large and very comfortable.
Can't really think of anything I didn't like.
Very clean, staff really kind and helpful.
Location and attentiveness of the staff.
A bit dated in places but overall very clean. Comfortable bed and no noise even though it’s on a busy junction.
Lots of plug sockets in the right places!

I don't know where these 5 star reviews come from, our stay was disappointing! This is an old building chopped up into multiple small rooms. Very little space, narrow corridors and unclean. There is NO parking - we were advised to go to the cricket club - a few minutes walk away! The advert for the hotel is misleading - the reality is nothing like the photos.
The whole place needs re designing. It's not fit to be a modern hotel. Very small cluttered room, no soundproofing, narrow corridors, very overpriced. No way would we stay here again!
Staff very friendly
Breackfest good
The windows need to be sorted couldent open them jgood job for the fan
Room was a bit small but to be expected by the age of the building. No A/c but a fan provided. We asked for a 1st floor as we are no so good with the stairs and this was accommodated so that was appreciated.
Staff were helpful, changing our room to meet our needs due to mobility., great location.
Taxi company( juliain), were critical of previous guests behaviour, and had a very negative expectation of your present ones, very negative attitude all round. Blue car taxis were excellent.
I stayed here while cycling in the Lake District. The staff were helpful. I appreciated that they accommodated storing my bicycle in a locked area, although it was outside. The hotel's location was convenient.
The bathroom could have been cleaner.

Good location, helpful staff.
The room was clean and comfortable and the shower was perfect.
The breakfast was ok but had to wait for cooked breakfast to arrive. The toaster was very slow and I had to put the bread in at least 5 times.

Staff were really friendly and helpful, room was clean and comfy and the hotel is in a perfect location to explore the surrounding area.
Great location across from the train station and an easy walk into the centre of Kendal. Comfortable bed, plenty of space in the room
Location/ staff/clean
All good 👍
Big rooms. Good showers
Range of evening food. Mirror and soap dispensers in bathroom were too high for ladies
Being disabled the availability of a lift was great!
Nothing to improve
Location, bedroom size and cleanliness
Slightly dated decoration, pictures hanging in an odd fashion, flickering chandelier in stairwell. Price of breakfast if it wasn’t included in cost already. Not great for a family of 5
Location was great, not far from Kendal centre. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Pizza from the bar was lovely. Good sized room and bathroom. Great breakfast.
Nothing
Poor quality bed, hard pillows,no air con Cooked breakfast very poor with cheap ingredients
Close to train station ,with easy walking distance to town. We had the top floor room, very spacious, and comfortable bed. Staff on reception, very welcoming and extremely helpful nothing any trouble.
I really like the location and all the surroundings! The hotel is close at the train station, and the city center. It was very easy to get there, even with my big suitcase. And really thank you let me taking my time with the check-out.
Great place to stay, staff are fantastic, so helpful. Great location and right across the road from the train station. Would highly recommend.

The hotel was close enough to other places in the Lake District. The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially Kavir and Liz.Helped with parking and the breakfast was great. Lots of choice. Rooms were clean and tidy.Good value for money.

Hotel is very run down.. has extremely dirty carpets in the in the small sized rooms.. has free parking locally nearby not onsite
Very central for the town. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly and breakfast was excellent.

The hotel is tatty. Best Western needs to paint the outside which looks nothing like their website image. Walls and window ledges are filthy. Very noisy road. Carpets are stained and everything needs refreshing. No air con in room
Excellent stay, as highlighted in my previous review.

Location, central to everything in Kendal. Good sized rooms, comfortable beds, but most of all, the staff are fantastic, a big mention for Liz who was so helpful and kind in the breakfast room, she was so attentive with everyone, we were thrilled with her customer service. Highly recommend.

Location perfect for the train, staff were nice.
All was good
the operations manager was a good lad nd tried to help as much as he could he re opened the bar so we could have a drink
I walked up to what looked like a building mid-chemical peel. The exterior had that special “we gave up in 1987 and never looked back” energy. The second the doors opened, a thick, industrial-strength waft of pure regret hit us square in the face. We still checked in. Optimism is a hell of a drug. The hallway carpet was a crime scene. Not metaphorically. It had the exact visual and olfactory signature of a decomposing body that had been gently rolled the full length of the corridor for atmospheric effect. By the time we reached our room I was already negotiating with my own gag reflex. £100 a night. Let that sink in. The room itself smelled of mildew with high notes of “something died in the walls and the walls won.” Air conditioning consisted of a single sad desk fan balanced on the bedside table like it was doing community service. I’ve stayed in a Travelodge for £40 that felt like the Ritz by comparison. This place made the Travelodge look like a Four Seasons. The shower was a mould exhibition. The ceiling hadn’t seen a cloth since the Berlin Wall came down. I woke up the next morning to actual roof snot dripping steadily onto the shower floor. At that point I made the executive decision that a second shower of cool ceiling piss was not on my itinerary. Breakfast was the final boss. The server was so rude she could have been training for the Olympics in customer hostility. We told her we weren’t ready. She looked at us like we’d personally cancelled Christmas. Then came the sausage: completely colourless, completely flavourless, blanched into a soft, grey, gooey centre of pure existential despair. The table was wobbling, so management had thoughtfully stabilised it with a used tissue that still had blood on it. Classy. I’m not saying this hotel was shit. I’m saying for £100 a night this hotel was a masterclass in how to extract money from people while simultaneously punishing them for existing. Have a word with yourselves.
Rooms were clean but the breakfast set up could be better
Very comfortable and spacious rooms, staff were exceptional snd very helpful, fourth stay here, would recommend.

Excellent customer service, rooms are lovely and comfortable and my fourth time back here.

The location
Food wasn’t the best
Not much to be honest
Decor dated and needs decorating. Food expensive and undercooked. Ordered pizza and chips, pizza was £16.50 but was evidently a cheap supermarket pizza, wasn't cooked properly, sent it back, came back again slightly more cooked but still not great, they then managed to overcharge me and no refund offered. Breakfast was undercooked and cheap sausages and black pudding. Room was dirty, staff not friendly. All in all a terrible hotel and I would advise against staying there. If you do, there is no parking but you can park at Kendal Cricket Club 5 minutes walk away for £2 a day. Hotel is located next to a main road and you can hear the traffic going past all night even with the window closed.
Friendly staff. Clean room with comfy bed. Breakfast was hot with a good choice.
Staff were so busy. One person covering bar and reception. They remained professional despite being run off their feet.
Location is excellent
Hotel needs a little work to bring up to scratch decor wise, breakfast needs improving, its all there just not tasty...
The bed was comfortable, the toilet and shower were good. The curry was very good for dinner.
The only window was nearly 3 m from the floor so not useful for seeing out. The carpet on one side of the bed had not been cleaned. The carpet in the hallway was rolled and had a huge stain on it. When we came down for breakfast we were made to wait while the staff member went to check if we had paid for breakfast.
It’s very central and easy to walk to from the train station, the staff are nice and helpful and it was a reasonable price. The bed was reasonably comfy, and the bathroom was big.
It’s quite old and rundown, but for the price, location and only staying one night it was fine for us and did the job.
Great location close to town and comfortable room. Friendly welcome at reception.

Nice breakfast. Lovely breakfast staff.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and room was clean, breakfast was really nice
The only problem we had was the cleaning staff had forgotten to change towels and the dirty ones from the previous people were still there, but the staff dealt with it straight away and were sincerely apologetic
Location. Clean. Breakfast. Staff service

I had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. The reception staff, especially dushyant and kabir , were incredibly friendly, polite, and welcoming. They were very helpful, understanding, and easy to deal with, which made my stay even more relaxing. Thank you for the excellent service and for making me feel at home. I would be happy to stay here again.
All good
Close to town, clean and comfortable rooms, reception and dining staff very welcoming. The rooms had table top fans which was very welcome as it was quite warm and a nice touch to have it already in place... I had taken my own just in case but not needed. Nice choice of breakfast options and was piping hot too!
Unfortunately there is no parking and you see there isn't an option for where it is situated. They had information at reception for parking options which is helpful.
Great location, very close to the station. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room and bathroom clean. I would stay here again.
Hotel isn't air conditioned but they did provide a fan. Bed a little hard for our taste.
A lovely warm welcome, had accidentally booked a twin and was kindly upgraded to a double. Beautiful spacious cool room on a very hot weekend!
Nothing!
Great value for money and a good breakfast
Breakfast was excellent great selection of everything and full English ,staff pleasant & helpful
Booking in earlier would be helpful
They did change my room because the toilet would not flush.
Very old and tired and not clean. Rooms very hot not air con they did provide a fan which didn’t make much difference.
The location is on point convenience for elderly people . I like their hot breakfast. Staffs are generally nice . The room can be a bit noisy if on the side of the road other than that 9 out of 10 overall .
The room can be a bit noisy if on the side of the road.
Ideally situated. Close enough to walk to town centre. Opposite the train station
No parking and Kendal is a nightmare to drive round and park in! The hotel was comfy and great value for money however it was very much in need of updating/redecorating
Good staff . Good prices. Made very welcome .
Parking
Stayed here for one night, on our way to the Lakes. Staff lovely and breakfast was very plentiful and nice. Hotel and rooms clean. Would stay again
The location. The room size. There was a fan! Breakfast choice was good
We wanted a drink at the bar but no draft drinks available as the members of staff didn’t know how to work the pumps. No alternative was offered. It was a bit tired especially in the corridors, new carpets would make all the difference.
Gute Lage, freundliches Personal!
Frühstück könnte verbessert werden.
Good choice of breakfast
Initial response at reception wasn’t great. Tv very small. No fridge, no bottled water. Hard cheap pillows. No parking.
Clean rooms and shower rooms. A great breakfast and staff were very helpful
The carpets are dirty looking, replacing these would really transform the common areas
The staff
Lack of parking
Rooms and bathroom were clean and had lift. Staff was helpful and warmed the milk for baby upon our request.
It was very hot in there and didn’t have AC only one table fan was given.
Great location and really friendly staff. Room was spacious, bed was comfy. Plenty of drawer and hanging space.
WAY TOO HOT in the room. Shower needed a good clean in the hard to reach areas. Plug got stuck in the sink. Cooked breakfast wasn't the best. Continental was good. Drinks from the bar were very expensive.
Handy for Kendal, easy access to town, next to railway station.
Parking a car nearby is a pain.
Clean room
Unappealing location
We stayed one night breaking a journey to Scotland. When we got into the bedroom, the light wasn’t working , we reported this and were offered an exchange, but that room had problems with the taps, so we managed without the main light - we were told they do not have any maintenance staff to repair it. It was late afternoon and we were tired, so we decided to eat at the hotel. They gave us 2 menu’s, one was a set menu for a coach party that were staying, and the other the standard menu. When my husband went to order off the set menu, we were told it had been withdrawn due to the coach party cancelling. My husband queried as to whether there would be a chef, and the lady on reception said yes. We then went to eat, we were the only people in the restaurant, ordered nachos as a starter, a pizza and fish cake, chips and veg as a main meal. The bar staff had difficulty putting the order through, so they got the reception lady who had booked us in, she then put the food through which we had to pay up front. We waited quite a while, then the food came all at once, instead of the starter first. The nachos were just Dorito style crisps with melted cheddar style cheese on top, all congealed with a side of salsa and guacamole - they were awful (picture to follow) no sour cream. The pizza was OK, the fish cakes and chips were inedible, the chips were not cooked and the veg completely dried up and again inedible (picture to follow). Whilst waiting for the food we were brought condiments, I checked the dates on the condiments (I usually do) and the majority were out of date, some dating back to December 2025. I complained about my meal and it was sent back - the lady from reception took it (she had served it) and also apologised about the condiments, saying they were checked every few days, which clearly wasn’t true. My food returned, better cooked this time but not great - by this time we were suspicious as to whether there was actually a chef, we asked a member of staff who had cooked the food and were told it was the lady on reception that had cooked as the chef had gone home! When she returned with the food my husband asked her whether there was a chef, initially she said yes, then when challenged she said because the coach party had cancelled their meals (we found out later they cancelled because the food had been so awful the night before), the chef had gone home! So the lady on reception had cooked the food, my husband asked her whether she had any food hygiene/catering experience and she said yes, but somehow I doubt it. We then asked for a refund on my meal and the starter, to which she said she couldn’t do but offered us ice cream instead (which we declined). To cut a long story short, my husband spoke to the manager in the morning who said he would look into it and he couldn’t issue a refund, then a few days later following an email from my husband the area manager gave us a complete refund for the food. We have stayed at many Best Westerns and never had a problem, but unfortunately we would never stay here again!!
If you have other options, take them.
Staff friendly, location
Close location to train station and bus station, and walking distance to town centre. Lovely choice for breakfast, bar and lounge good size. Good size bedroom, very comfortable bed and fan on on arrival as it was so hot. All staff very friendly and accommodating.
Nothing
Parked outside front door although not clear.
Tired property, small double bed, difficult to block out morning light. Busy junction, had to have windows open for ventilation and noisy road.
Location, accessibility
No parking
I've been in better but I've been in worse. Does the job for one night and a decent price.
Lack of parking.
Great reception staff - very friendly and helpful
Noisy but that’s traffic in 2026!
Near railway station
Nothing to dislike
Good location near the station and Kendal town centre.
Single room with the tiniest of single beds. Hit my head on the wall when I turned over. Some lunatic drunks returned late in the night. I did find out that Paraguay had beaten Germany on penalties from their loud commentary over the penalty shoot out though. 😉
