The breakfast was as expected.

The room was a bit snug.

We were warmly greeted by all the staff from the receptionist, breakfast and cleaning staff. The gentleman in the breakfast area even bought us out hot hash browns when they ready.

Place needs a little sprucing up, but overall really happy with our stay.

Nous avons choisi cet hôtel pour être à proximité de l’aéroport pour un départ le lendemain. En plus d’être à un tarif très intéressant pour une chambre familiale, le pdj était varié et inclus et la literie très confortable.

Die Lage war echt gut und das Personal sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, das Frühstück war auch ok - in jedem Holiday Inn dasselbe

Helemaal niets. We waren eigenlijk verbaasd hoe goed het was. Ook de locatie was heerlijk rustig om te slapen. Aan de overkant het prachtige River Park. Wij komen zeker terug en zullen het anderen aanraden.

No lift, no laundry, and no phone in our room. Bedding was comfortable. Room was average. Staffs were accommodating and helpful. Breakfast was also average.

After reading the reviews I was a bit wary however I found it a really enjoyable stay. We had the king size bedroom and the bed was so comfortable, room was lovely and very clean. Breakfast was good, sausages maybe wasn’t to my liking but plenty of choice so can’t complain. All freshly cooked and hot. The receptionist at check in was lovely, breakfast staff spoke to my husband when he was up getting something and again very friendly. Check out again was friendly and professional. Full marks to all the staff makes such a difference and appreciate the effort they make. ( we never saw the cleaner but full marks to them as well as room was very clean and fresh). Would not hesitate to come again and are hoping to return towards Autumn.

The rooms were spacious, tidy and clean. The staff were very courteous and professional. Breakfast offered a good selection of hot/cold dishes plus pastries. Definitely recommended. Unlike other reviews, there wasn't much noise from other rooms or from floor.

Alike many other Scottish lodging facilities, the bed is provided with duvet even during summer which is hard to stand (too warm). No elevator available.

This hotel is apparently owned and managed by a company called Splendid Hotels. Believe me, it is far from splendid. In fact, it is well overdue for a complete refit and overhaul in my opinion. Whilst located in a pleasant setting next to a Vintage Inn pub, from the outset, the lack of investment was evident from flaking paintwork and bins in the car park which were full to the brim and almost overflowing. The reception area was dark and dismal with a big, foreboding doorway sealing off the stairwell which led to our room. Whilst the hallways were reasonably well presented, the decor throughout the hotel is very dated. Our musty smelling room was a strange mix of bedroom decor and designs from this brand over the years; the shower room was the original HI Express design with a shower curtain (yuk!) and the curious, separate toilet cubicle arrangement which can be isolated using the sole bathroom door. It had been retiled in part using those tiles which featured in the brand’s last but one design template, which I remember being launched around the time of the London 2012 Olympics. This dated look continued into the bedroom itself, but with some strange twists like a lilac painted wall (which showed every scuff and mark) and green curtains which seemed to have been sourced from another brand entirely, and looked completely out of place. The furnishings in the bedroom were even more tired than the decor, with a badly stained corner seat, divan bases which were also stained and peeling wallpaper which had some questionable marks on it. The breakfast room was another hotch-potch of different styles of furniture, and looked like the kind of assortment you might see in a an old youth club or community centre. It felt grim and depressing and was enough to turn a planned two night stay into a ‘one and done’ visit to a hotel which is clearly well past its best. To their credit, the staff offered polite and helpful service despite the grim environment in which they work. They dealt stoically and professionally with my feedback and I suspect they themselves know there is much to done to bring the property up to date. For their benefit, as well as the benefit of other future guests, I really hope the hotel’s owners make the investment required to make this place as splendid as their group name suggests.

Stanza sporca, abbiamo trovato unghie sulla moquette probabilmente del precedente ospite. Non ci hanno nemmeno pulito la camera tra il primo ed il secondo giorno. Stanza piccola, con il divano letto aperto non si poteva arrivare alla finestra :( Hotel lontano da supermercati e fast food, bisognava prendere la macchina per tutto. Saponi in bagno buoni della Dove! Doccia grande e acqua sempre calda Parcheggio auto gratuito.

Hotel property is in semi urban setting in the outskirts of Edinburgh. It was a good alternative for a stopover for while returning from Highlands back to Edinburgh, if your budget doesn’t allow for a stay in the city. Similarly a good option if you are on your way to Highlands or Scottish coastal side up further north. It is an old property hence we had kept our expectations lower. The property took the funds from my Credit Card before the arrival at the hotel even though usually all other properties used to take the payment for the stay upon arrival. We didn’t have much options for dinner at the hotel as well as the nearby pub closed earlier. Hence it will be better to come prepared if you are planned to reach late. Since the property is small, the restaurant area is also similar for the breakfast. It was decent one to have no complaints. Sleep was good, rooms were comfortable. Since it was just a night stopover and we were looking forward to our visit to Edinburgh, we didn’t bother much.

We stayed here for a wedding nearby and we couldn’t have asked for more to be honest. Incredibly helpful staff who organised an earlier check in for us so we could leave our bags and get ready for the wedding. The room was really comfortable and it was nice to have breakfast available the next morning. We would definitely stay here again if we were back in the area.

There was some confusion about our stay which stretched check-in to 20 minutes. Once I was home I got a rather curt little Email saying as we had not turned up we would be charged the full amount & could I provide another card as my original card had been declined. Galling, as not only did I know we had paid in full but I could see it on my account. All this after there was no hot water available… on the morning I was heading to a wedding. To be honest I felt they should be taking money OFF my bill, not querying my payment

I have only given this a rating of 3 because the staff were friendly and helpful. However we had some very serious safety issues whilst staying here. I will first of all state the good things: Staff - very friendly and helpful. Location - ideal for what we needed. Restaurant - the breakfast was better than expected and right next door to a reasonably good pub. The very bad: 1. The shower - the unit connecting the shower to the water supply completely came off the wall when I tried to use it. It flooded the room, in fact everything got wet except me. If I had been standing right in front of the shower I could easily have been knocked off my feet, mostly due to the shock of it. It was very upsetting and frightening. If a child had been there they would have been knocked over. 2. The light switch to one of the bedside lights was missing. I only found this out because when I put my finger forward to switch the light on it went right through and ended up switching the light on somehow by the wires - goodness what would have happened if a child with wet hands had one that. 3. One of the curtains was half hanging off the wall. I will say that was as soon as I was able to contact Reception the Maintenance Engineer arrived quickly. However this meant that I had to only have a wash in the sink and had to be in the embarrassing situation of asking a family member we were visiting to use their shower. This has certainly tainted my view of Holiday Inns in general and the IHG group, I will not use them in the future, nor can I recommend this particular hotel.

Like many other guests, I was encouraged by the high ratings and positive reviews when booking this Holiday Inn. Unfortunately, my experience did not quite match those expectations. The room was very small for a family of two adults and a toddler. Once the sofa bed was extended, there was hardly any space left to use the table. I was also surprised that no complimentary bottled water was provided in the room. While this may not be a major issue for everyone, it is a basic amenity that many hotels offer and one that guests often appreciate. More concerning, however, were several maintenance and housekeeping issues. The hairdryer was not working, the TV remote was faulty, and the toilet flush required multiple attempts before it worked properly. In addition, there was leftover water in the kettle from a previous guest, which suggested that basic checks and cleaning had been overlooked. Individually, these may seem like minor issues, but together they affected the overall quality of the stay. If guests are expected to overlook and adapt to several shortcomings, it becomes difficult to justify the hotel's rating. Based on my experience, this did not feel like the standard I would normally expect from a Holiday Inn.

We absolutely love a hotel stay as a family and thought this was an ok deal on Hotels.com for £75 roughly for the night ( we are glad we booked the Sunday and not the Saturday as at almost £150 for Saturday I probably would have been asking for a part refund). For a big hotel chain it was just disappointing in general. No one available on check in, pressed bell no one came. When the receptionist did come she was friendly which is fine and probably not her fault staffing levels if she was away doing something else but that's the first impression... The room: in this day and age one pillow just isn't acceptable, especially when the headboard is a hard wooden panel which tbh is quite dangerous, my 4 year old banged their head at least 3/4 times. Tea and coffee station was a little bit pointless because 3 of those small milk things and 2 sugars ? That isn't enough for two people to have one drink never mind more than. Could benefit from hot chocolate and a biscuit. The toiletries being done was nice and the room was clean. Breakfast - I didn't like the fact the cereal was out the packet in a communal bowl, poorly laid out would benefit from a milk jug at the cereal. Not wheelchair or pram friendly, tried to navigate with the pram as we have a newborn also and the lovely one staff who was working the whole of breakfast herself assisted moving a table for us but it's 2026, accessibility should be a right not an inconvenience. It was embarrassing and we felt like an inconvenience but the staff she was a credit. Embarrassingly I ran out of sanitary towels, and asked at reception to be told the box was empty they had nothing, why have signs in room saying forgot anything ask us? Very misleading and disappointing from a big hotel chain contributing to period poverty in 2026. We really didn't enjoy our stay which was disappointing, hopefully the management take the recommendations on board because free parking and the location was a big plus point. If it stayed as is we wouldn't return.
