Best Western Premier Heronston Hotel & Spa

Staff were great, very helpful and loved giving our dogs attention!

Room was a bit too cosy (I don't like open windows while sleeping so my own fault really!). Cold water tap temperamental!

Time taken to provide Bar Food. took some 45 minutes to serve the food.

Room and bathroom was comfortable and clean. Food was good. Staff especially Maddy were excellent.

Location for wedding to church. Catering very good, nicely cooked and hot. Evening buffet a good selection of sandwiches and snacks. Bar prices good didn’t feel we were being ripped off. Staff for wedding buffet young but very attentive so good training.

Pool currently under repair so not available. Building currently in a state of repair, scaffolding shows signs of being in place a considerable time. Had a really heavy storm many leaks in public areas, worrying especially around ceiling lighting. Breakfast area, very cramped for number of guests, too cluttered with artificial plants and fruits etc. Not enough staff in bar area they kept disappearing too.

The leisure facilities have been shut for several months. I think they were closed when I visited in December too. As I was staying to visit my parents not sure I'd have used them, but the option would have been good.

My first stay at this Hotel, stayed two nights, very warm welcome, staff were all very friendly, the room very comfortable and the food was great!! Will definitely stay again!!

The staff were lovely and check in was great. I booked a superior room for 1 night.

We were downgraded to a double room without any money returned because we had dog. When I booked i had dog so wouldnt leave her out and extra charge for dog too. Other than that it was all ok

A great welcome from the reception. The location was perfect for us to reach the events we were in Wales to attend. The room was a good size and generally clean (a few stray hairs in the bathroom and the room floor was a little dusty). A good atmosphere in the bar and the food service was good (on the first night of our stay) An overall positive is the breakfast timings are great should you need to get out and about early and the options offered are varied. (At an additional cost).

The second night of our stay was less satisfactory. We decided to eat in the main restaurant ( Roccos) Despite being one of only two tables our order was incorrectly served. It was remedied once pointed out but then key aspects of the first course were missing. Again, this was remedied once highlighted but it was not ideal as a dining experience. We didn't mind but there was a wedding reception in full swing in the function room next to the restaurant so the disco was incredibly loud as a result. It might have been some of the overnight guests that then were arguing at 3am stomping around in the room above and arguing loudly in the room above us. This caused a disturbed night's sleep. A bit of a shame.

The room was comfortable and the bathroom was pristine. Bar staff were friendly and helpful with information about vegan menu options. It was only a 10 min drive to the beach.

It was a shame the swimming pool wasn't open, but this was for refurb. The juice at breakfast was old and they had to be notified. They the changed it.

My wife and I thought the Best Western Heronston was fantastic. Even though the pool was being refurbished it didn't take away from our stay. What annoyed us most was not the hotel but a really rude customer the last couple of mornings. The staff were very gracious and that impressed me even more. I'd have been crying in the kitchen if I'd had to deal with him. Well done all, we'd love to come back!

The hotel was conveniently located for the purpose of my trip and close enough to the town centre as well. Staff were pretty good overall, especially on checkin and checkout.

Its advertised as a spa hotel but none of the spa facilities were available and will not be for a long time! Had to wait forever for someone to come and serve at the bar. There are no lifts to the upper floors. No air-con in any of the rooms. Very noisy in the early mornings because windows were open due to lack of air con.

First rate stay at the Best Western Heronston Hotel. The rooms and public areas were very modern and spotlessly clean and the staff there could not have been more friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

, we requested 2 rooms next to each other, we received notification that this was done, when i arrived i was told that this wasn't the case and the only way to achieve this was to pay an extra £20 per room to upgrade, also the Pool are was closed, this was not mentioned on the site when booking or subsequently when I did book. Also There was a 50th party, the room was above the party area so loud music was playing we could not sleep until after midnight

Not what I expected at all for what I paid and had heard. Room was pretty basic, even though I knew pool was being refurbished at time of visit the price did not deflect this. The door had an almost inch gap at Bottom so let light through had to use towel along it to prevent light coming in. The shower leaked water all over floor whilst in use. The sink would spray water all over you when you use it. The panel around bed was lose on wall

We had issues with the EV chargers which weren't resolved. Staff didn't understand EVs. Also we asked for just a sheet because of the hot weather, that took 4 trips to reception. No AC.

I have stayed at the Heronston numerous times. The staff are always excellent, very pleasant, friendly and extremely efficient. Previously I found the food hit and miss but this time it was really lovely - a huge improvement. I'm looking forward to staying again in a few weeks.

All of the staff did their best to ensure my Birthday party was a brilliant success. Nothing was left to chance and every whim was dealt with a smile. I couldn't ask more, I don't want to single out any member of staff as they were all brilliant.

When I arrived I was informed the pool area and associated facilities were closed due to refurbishement. I was not informed of this fact upon booking, and had I have known, I would have stayed elsewhere.

The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble for them. Special mention to Angharad on reception and Michael and Jack at the bar and breakfast area.

Staff were incredibly friendly. Went above and beyond in all aspects of our stay. Angharad on reception was amazing when booking and checking in regarding our worries over new food intolerances which they accomodated very well. Jack in the bar was incredibly helpful and worked very hard. Mickael was fantastic. Working the bar with such enthusiasm in the evening and a welcoming smile and comedy for breakfast. Overall a brilliant stay. Would highly recommend.

Everyone was extremely friendly, the rooms were immaculately clean.

The cooked breakfast wasn’t amazing but there was a great selection so if you don’t like the cook breakfast, there are still other options.

Room size and appointment was very good, the sleep quality was excellent and the public areas in the hotel were clean and very modern.

The WiFi in the room was poor, very slow. The breakfast room was ice cold with the air con turned up high despite the fact that the outside temperature had significantly moderated after the heatwave. I had to eat my b'fast in the lobby area as the b'fast room was so ice cold.

Very clean and the staff were generally helpful. MADDY was a delight in the bar. The buffet breakfast was poor due to cold plates making the food cold before getting half way through it. Saturday's evening meal was very good, but Sunday's meal in the bar was very poor.

It was exceptionally 🔥 🥵 but fans were table top and inadequate. Ideally AC world have been better or a more suitable floor fan that blew more than hot air. Sadly spa facilities were not open. Only gym available. No pool or steam & sauna open. Gym open only.

Longer opening hours of the restaurant both in the morning for breakfast and the evening for dinner You cater more for the weddings on the weekend's and the residents can’t relax and have a peaceful dinner because the wedding party’s seem to take over everywhere , also the wedding party’s all smoke outside the reception entrance all though you supply a nominated area for them. Hated always having to wait at the bar for a drink it seems like you are understaffed in most areas one staff member seemed to be working everywhere, we had to go out for breakfast most days as the restaurant staff member just wanted to clean up and rushed us to finish

Booked this hotel for the spa and pool element only to find out it is closed. This information is hidden at the bottom of a lengthy block of text that you have to expand on the overview page to read. Even on the page dedicated to the spa and treatments, nowhere does it actually say it is closed, again just a sneaky sentence at the end of the page to say when it reopens 16 year old will have access to certain amenities. More transparency is needed!

I attended a wedding here on friday bumping in to one of the chefs on Saturday (annie) i spoke to her and told her how the wedding meal and buffet was beautiful. I have to comment on how amazing the food was and how friendly the staff were! Great hotel Would love to come back

Just returned from a lovely weekend at a family wedding here. Couldn’t fault it. The rooms are clean comfortable and huge and every member of staff was friendly helpful and polite. Would definitely stay again if back down that way

Lovely hotel. Very disappointed that there was no discount as the pool facilities wasn’t open and running. Room clean and spotless bed not very comfortable. We attended for a wedding and the prices on the alcohol were shocking!! £8 for a pint which wasn’t very nice quite flat that was the topic with most guests at the wedding too wouldn’t stay here again due to them reasons think the price list need to be looked at. Excellent stay lovely room clean and tidy nothing was to much trouble

We stayed two nights in a superior room. The exterior of the hotel looks like it could do with some TLC, including the building, car park and grounds. The room itself was ok, nothing special, with outdated heavy dark wood furniture. USB and plug sockets each side of the bed were really useful. Bathroom pleasant enough. However, what really let the hotel down was the food quality. Breakfast served to 10am, but this means that all the food is cleared away at 10am and you are asked to leave the restaurant (in an abrupt and unpleasant manner by the member of staff). Perhaps they need to advertise breakfast to 9.15 to give you chance to eat your breakfast (you don't necessarily want to wolf your breaksfast down if not a business traveller). Quality was also disappoiting. For example, I could have plastered my walls with the porridge!! The only positive of the food service was the way allergens appeared to be managed. I wouldn't rush back to stay again as there are better hotels in the area for £330+ price tag. I was unable to provide feedback at checkout as the only receptionist was taking a telephone booking at the time and just asked for my room number. This was my general experience of staff, who could benefit from some customer setvice training.

The checking is was above standard, very switched on lady on the desk with a friendliness to match, 5 star standard member of staff here. Having friendly staff makes a huge difference and it was a good welcome. The room, I was impressed with, large, comfortable with a desk to work at. The gym was good, impressed that a hotel this size had a gym this good.

Looking for somewhere to stay that was local to a beach and luckily this hotel is nearby Ogmore by sea. We had a lovely spacious room. We have 2 small children and the hotel went above and beyond to help us for all our needs. So clean and tidy Thank you to all the staff, amazing help

Came here for a wedding, lovely venue, staff where great. Room was comfortable, clean and spacious. Breafast was also very good again staff where on hand to help.

Bar prices are a little high for the area, and only 1 person on bar when the bar was full, waiting a while.

Everyone was so lovely and helpful, my mum left her hand fan in the bar and they bought it up to the room for her. We would definitely stay here again, it was a shame the pool was being refurbished but we did know that before booking. Would 100% recommend.

Was very easy to locate and looked very inviting. When we walked into reception it felt welcoming and the staff were very friendly. Check in was easy and quick. The room was beautifully arranged and had everything we could need. The whole hotel looked clean and bright and there was nothing to find fault with. The day we arrived there was a wedding and also the next day but we did not hear any noise from these for our stay. They looked really beautiful. The amenities offered were first class, we did not visit the spa but heard good things from other guests conversations. The room had all we needed and some things we were very grateful for. The fan in the wardrobe was excellent as we were there during the heatwave. Thank you to all staff as they were very accommodating to requests from us. We had a great time and would recommend it to others.

No pool. Unhelpful staff when asking for compensation for no pool. I just asked for them to give us a breakfast as compensation. Was told a flat no.

Noisy and the bed it’s too small

This was an organised stay, we were happy to return. Easy to travel into Cardiff, Porthcawl for the beach.

Shame no fresh air in corridors or views to outside as windows are fixed closed. Weather was vary hot and it would have been nice to have some airflow in all of the common spaces not just reception, restaurant and bar area. No aircon.

The staff were brilliant. They went out of their way to support and accommodate us, including my mother, who has dementia, who managed at wander off at one point. Outstanding service with kindness from all staff.

We stayed here as we were in bridgend for the bank holiday weekend. Everything was amazing and i had the best night sleep for a long time! The bed was amazing, the room was spotless and had everything you could need. The only issue we had was the hinges on the bathroom door were a little bit loose which meant it was a little hard to shut the door but this would be an easy fix. Apart from this we had no issues and the room was lovely and cool all night. The door to the outside area was also nice to have access to with the sunshine! Good location close to the beaches and great value for money. Will definitely be returning if we are back in the area.

There was work going on at the hotel so the pool was closed. Very hard to order food ad drinks at the bar because there were no staff .when we went to breakfast on the second morning we were told to would be closing soon and it was around 9.20 so we were asked to order straight away . We weren't compensated in anyway for the swimming pool being unavailable. The shower would just flood the floor

Was gifted an overnight spa by family for a birthday present. The massage was fantastic and worth every penny. The food was good, can’t complain but the evening menu was very limited and dominated by fish and the breakfast was buffet style. The rooms are spacious and clean. The bathroom fan was excessively loud and cluncky and could not be turned off manually. This is our 3rd stay but I do not think we will be returning. The pool and spa is under refurbishment and completely out of action. The other guests were very loud throughout the night with no challenge from staff. The room below us had a tv at what appeared to be full volume at 4am! Overall despite a lovely massage we’ve left more tense and tired than how we arrived.

The hotel is undergoing construction work ans from 7am till 4pm you here scaffolding workers tightening bolts and speaking The indoor pool was closed also for renovation works. I should have been informed. The last day the hotel charged my another full day juat cuz I asked to check out at 12pm instead of 10.30am
