Nice old hotel in a beautiful elevated country setting. Great views. We had a decent evening meal.and a good breakfast. The coach house annexe we stayed in was comfortable, clean and nicely furnished. A good wetroom bathroom which would have been great if it had been working properly. See below
On the second day the shower stopped working and we were unable to flush the loo due to inadequate water pressure. A problem with the header tank that feeds the coach house we were told. Not the first time it had happened we were also told. We were offered facilities in the main hotel but this wasn't exactly convenient being some distance away. Some compensation would have been nice but was not offered although the staff were apologetic.
Lovely atmosphere, superb breakfast and helpful staff.
Sadly, we did not feel that our evening dining experience was what we expected,as the (one) waiter seemed stressed, overworked and inattentive. Also the food was below the standard we expected . We put this down to it being a Monday night.
All the staff were particularly friendly and helpful. Food at breakfast on Wednesday and Thursday was perfect with beautiful poached eggs and dinner on Thursday evening was beautifully cooked Sea Bass with an excellent sauce for all 4 diners.
Dinner was poor on Monday evening, ( over cooked Sea Bass with very dry paste like sauce for 3 diners) Breakfast was poor on Tuesday - dried poached eggs for 2 diners. Dinner on Tuesday was over cooked chicken for 3 diners.
It’s olde worlde feel, very comfortable bar area , nice rooms , good food.

Great location, helpful staff, ate supper outside in a relaxed atmosphere. Will take my golf clubs next time!

Lovely friendly staff and a comfortable bed
Room could've been a little cleaner, cobwebs and some dust etc but generally a nice room for the price
Everything was excellent
Fijn hotel. stijvol, gezellige bar en toch rustig
Smal weggetje naar het hotel
The location was superb, staff were excellent and responsive. We had both breakfast and dinner and both were excellent. The place has a nice atmosphere where you feel at home and relaxed
cant think of anything
The property is a beautiful old house very well presented. All the staff are amazing. Will definitely be back
The staff (all of them) are incredibly friendly, helpful, solicitous and professional. They actively seek to make the stay as good as it can be. The beds are comfortable, the room size generous. Great breakfast. The location is stunning. Whilst the hotel clearly depends on events we were made to feel really welcome as individuals. The bar is reasonably well stocked though nothing in the way of a traditional pint (I'm old school mind you). Nice touch with some Welsh-produced drinks including whisky and cider. Lunchtime sandwiches were very nice and good value.
The food in the restaurant is variable. The breakfast was generally excellent (porridge, cooked, cold selection) though the eggs Benedict were unappetising. The evening meal was good in parts - great pizza, excellent chips with the fish and tasty mushy peas, imaginative vegetarian gnocchi. However the fish was a bit wet, the chicken rather dry. The coffee is awful (sorry to say) but there is a good selection of tea.
Everything was perfect Nothing more to add

The coach house room was exceptional
Alcohol prices
beautiful general areas, fantastic local produce for breakfast and local toiletries. Soft fluffy towels and bottled water.Staff helpful, friendly.
the room was rather tired but quality fittings. Spent about 10 mins looking for hairdryer. Was told it was in a secret compartment in lift up desk.....a bit too secret- an info sheet would helpful.

Lovely ambience, staff were very attentive and friendly

Friendly and efficient staff who provided excellent customer service. A special mention to Alice who helped juggle a few things for us that really helped us during our stay
Almost everything.
Being picky, the phone in the room was outdated and didn't have the usual 'dial zero for reception', facility. There was no paper welcome pack.
I loved the location, staff were wonderful, room was fantastic, it was so dog friendly, food was excellent, best hotel I have visited when travelling with my dog
Great property, clean, welcoming and great views

A lovely retro ambiance to the property which has stunning views from the front garden.
Not a criticism but stay a car is an absolute necessity due to its remoteness which to me was wonderful
Beautiful country hotel in a gorgeous part of Wales. Large, comfortable rooms, attractive entrance, bar, restaurant; excellent food and menu. Staff were absolutely brilliant and couldn’t have done more for us. So friendly, professional and helpful. We loved our stay.
Bathrooms a bit dated but I’m splitting hairs as we loved this hotel.
Breakfast and location . The roof terrace with opening doors ( room 10)
Through I was booking a nice room in the coachouse instead we had a small attic room in the coachouse which was so hot we had to leave for a different hotel ( when I asked for another fan as the one supplied was not very good I was told there was none)
Staff here are so lovely, they couldn’t be more helpful and thoughtful - they changed are dinner time, brought us menus in the bar, made us a pack up breakfast. Very enjoyable experience and great food
Lovely hotel in a great location

This was my second visit, quieter room this time which made a massive difference. Lovely food and outside areas to have a drink
great staff
The property is in a beautiful location and is more impressive than in the photos. The staff were both friendly and welcoming. They attended immediately to any requests and were always polite when helping us. The food and service both at dinner and breakfast was excellent.
Very comfortable, breakfast was fantastic, great omelettes!
No gym (I knew there wasn’t one!)
Welcoming staff, great food, excellent service.
Nice relaxing feeling about the place and staff were fab

Lovely hotel Friendly staff
Bedrooms and hall carpet are dated .meefs a makeover
The staff were incredibly attentive and the room was quiet large. The layout of the place is a bit weird but i think thats an overall older building in europe thing. The breakfast was OUTSTANDING. Absolutely worth the stay for a nice quiet place within good distance to Cardiff
A bit off the beaten path
The staff where paticually helpful, kind, respectful and well manered
We had a couple of issues with our room such as; The carpet came up in one corner and the shower plug was partically blocked on the first day. However, these issues where sorted within a day
Good breakfast options
Awfully uncomfortable bed Very slow and unprofessional waiting staff at dinner Tired and badly maintained room
The staff where amazing and helpful especially ryan.
We had a couple problems with our room.
The place The room The service The staff.
Minor picks. The fabric of the building needs a little maintenace. The wooden eves above the balcony in my room were rotten and needed replacing. The starter, bologniese in mashed poato and breadcrumbs was microwaved from a packet and was dry, though the main course was excelent. Nothing to deter me from staying there again if the opportunity presents itself..
The location was lovely in the rolling Welsh hills, and the country house itself was attractive and welcoming. We had a huge space - bedroom, bathroom and anteroom and tall expansive windows which looked over the gardens and beyond. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was excellent - highly recommened!
Location was excellent
The card machine was not working to pay at checkout
Very friendly staff
Our room in the newer part of the hotel was spacious, comfortable and quiet. There were nice terraces outside for a pre-dinner drink. Lovely planting in the grounds too. Breakfast was good with plenty of fresh fruit as well as a good choice of cooked options. Hotel element of our stay was good value for money.
We stayed on a Sunday night and the restaurant menu was, understandably, a Sunday lunch-style one. The food was ok but it was expensive for what it was. The white wine wasn't chilled when it was brought but it came with an ice bucket so did cool down.
Amazing Breakfast. Beautiful rooms. Quiet location.
Dinner on the 1st evening was disappointing.
Just so nice and the staff are amazing
The hole thing
Staff were so helpful, location is very peaceful, lovely countryside views, tasty meals
Rooms a bit dated, Thin walls, parking a challenge when wedding are on.
Exellant place to stay Staff really make you feel very welcome
Nice and clean staff very friendly room very comfortable food to a good standard
The only thing I would say you have to have your wits about you when you drive off the main road you are on a very narrow road all the way up to the hotel which is very winding there are passing places along the route but the hedges are quite high and it is difficult to see vehicles coming in the opposite direction
The staff were superb, the food excellent and an exceedingly clean and comfortable Hotel room.

Friendly and helpful staff. Homely atmosphere.

Very friendly service. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice. They even laid on a full breakfast from 4.00 am for the guests taking part in a cycling event that day. I would say that is above and beyond normal expectations. Stunning location too. Room was comfortable, a good size and had everything you needed.
I love the attitude of your staff. They seem to value what they do. We love the grounds, the ambiance of the hotel. The food is solid - and reasonably priced. I really appreciate the willingness to open breakfast early for the cyclists on the Dragon Ride.
Margins are so tight in hospitality, but there's some things which would help lift this lovely hotel. We're in property, so notice the state of the window frames and some boarding. Our room was spotless, very comfortable, but in 25 the flush mechanism needs repairing, as it not securely attached to the fascia anymore.
Very friendly staff and excellent breakfast
It was all just as it should be
Great location
Very homely and it seemed to be well maintained. Beautiful grounds and nice restaurant. The staff were all lovely. Very helpful and accommodating.
A beautiful and wonderfully refurbished old building in a convenient location for visiting friends. Everything about our stay was just perfect and every member of staff encountered was a pleasure to meet, providing a really great service.

The hotel is in a great location, very quiet and fantastic views. The staff were really friendly and extremely helpful. Our room was really great, very clean and with a great view from the window. Highly recommended.
The period property was great, rooms clean, exceptional staff (Ryan on reception who lives there full time!), fantastic food in the restaurant
Transportation of laundry wagon in the morning awoke us
Absolutely beautiful place for a wedding
Prices were a little above average
The staff were all very helpful and happy to help. ..When we arrived we were informed by the reception staff that booking.com had charged us twice resulting in the hotel giving us 2 rooms. They were very helpful and advised us to request a no charge cancellation, which they would accept. However we are still waiting a refund from booking.com ! The dinner and breakfast that we had at the hotel were both superb.
Nothing g in the hotel. Booking.com charging us twice was very annoying.
Clean lovely location
Doors were very noisy at night when trying to sleep
Posizione panoramica . Noi eravamo nella dependance. Ristorante con buona qualità, colazione ottima
Per essere un 4 stelle la pulizia della dependance lasciava un po’ a desiderare . Mi aspettavo una pulizia più accurata visto che le camere costavano anche di più.
The grounds were very nice and well maintained. The decor throughout was a good mixture of traditional with new. Balance was just right.
Room overlooked air conditioning plants which were quite noisy. The doors for hotel rooms were quite load when closing. Could benefit from some soft close mechanisms.
Beautiful and cheap by comparison. Food was good. Staff friendly and helpful

Beautiful location !
Lovely friendly staff, really enjoyed the food also.
Nothing at all.
Staff were very welcoming and friendly. The location was great. We loved that they have Padel courts! Rooms were generous and very clean with comfortable beds. The building and grounds are lovely.
Service in the restaurant was quite slow and disjointed. However, a lovely waiting staff member kept apologising. The food was good when it arrived!
I liked the staff which was very attentive and eager to please I liked the gesture with the doggy box, but I would have e preferred to be cheaper for my little dog to stay one night. She had her own bed she don't moult. And goes out to do her pees and poos So I think £25 is a bit much for 1 night. She had her own treats and toys with her.
Can't fault anything else, everything was great.espetially the staff nothing was to much trouble
Staff were brilliant. Setting and building were lovely
The bedrooms felt a little dated
Beautiful hotel & grounds Food was very nice
Told the hotel, before our visit, about an allergy to feathers & yet the room had scatter cushions on the bed with feathers in them. Had a meal in the bar area & all was going well until after dessert- staff seemed to just disappear!!! We had to inform the receptionist that we were leaving & that she’d need to put the bill onto our room. Lastly the breakfast was in an outdoor enclosure, which wasn’t heated sufficiently. We left early as we were too cold.
Heerlijke rustige lokatie, prettige sfeer.
Afternoon tea location relaxed atmosphere 👍

Niks specifieks
Quite, clean, relaxing environment.
Actual hotel was beautiful and grounds were lovely.
The Room was dated, the furnishings need updating because of marks and damage. I mean the telephone that was once white was orange 😂. If the facilities weren’t so dated it would have been lol lovely but just felt a bit grubby. Not awful just not in keeping with the rest of the property
Friendly helpful staff and overall cleanliness
Warm room although we found a fan in the wardrobe
Everything. Beautiful hotel in wonderful location and brilliant staff!
