We stayed 3 nights, 2 nights I slept very well. Unfortunately there were some noisy guests at the hotel that did not respect other guest might be sleeping at 3am in the morning. The staff were apologetic, it was not the hotels fault. We would stay again.

location was good but as many access roads were closed and many bus services not running because of building projects in the vacinity we found getting about difficult and had to resolve this by using taxis, which mand it an expensive weekend. As we are both elderly this restriction on getting about was a big disappointment, especially as I had checked the location of nearby bus stops before booking.

Location was in a quiet area of the city which was quite easy to get to by car. We walked into the city centre which took about 15-20 minutes. The room was comfortable and quiet and had a pleasant waterfront view. The staff were friendly and helpful and we had a nice breakfast.

Our credit card was debited twice. Staff made a quick refund although this takes days and hassle to appear on our statement. Room air conditioning would be nice. Only just found one parking space. Not sure what would have happened if the parking was full?? A lot of homeless people in the area. Intimidating walk into the city centre. The general surrounding atmosphere and unkempt streets was not pleasant.

Staff were friendly and very accommodating, nothing was too much trouble, even when I kept running out of milk for tea then staff were always happy to provide more, and more teabags too. Location was good, close enough to both the bay and the city, and all amenities within walking distance. The rooms were clean and tidy, with towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner provided (and they all smelled lovely).

Several Front desk staff were less than helpful, not interested and some even had attitude problem. They had better things to do rather than answer our questions (it even started when we tried to register in)

Bed very uncomfortable and generally so noisy, I guess as many Stag and Hen parties this is always a problem but there seems to be no insulation to stop noise transferring between rooms or through doors and corridors.

Convenient location; welcoming staff, efficient service especially from the lady serving breakfast; comfortable and clean hotel; good choices and delicious breakfast including gluten and wheat free toast.

Wi-Fi - not secure with weak security - should be upgraded to secure and high security for guests to use. Parking - £10 fee per day for guests to park - why as parking for guests at other hotels such as at Preston on M6 is not an additional charge. Air conditioning - need to be upgraded in our bedroom 104 - had to leave windows open at night and was disturbed by voices in the car park below the bedroom window.

Check-in guy very friendly, cleaning staff nice/helpful, breakfast staff kept the area clean/tidy and well replenished. Room was fine, breakfast decent, but location, if not driving, is a little way from either the bay area (15-20 mins before you actually hit the water) or the town centre (20 mins), without any really close public transport links.

Too isolated apart from a one stop shop no bars or food outlets close.looks dated from outside.in the middle of residential area .nice touch backing onto wharf but again nothing around it.Breakfest quite basic but ok.Good 20mins walk to Cardiff Bay or Cardiff centre.

Breakfast was substantial enough, and options for the price paid - very abrupt finish enforced, even when tried to get a top-up of juice at bang on 9:30!

The location of the hotel was great to get to Cardiff bay.

The breakfast was so unorganised. There was no cups, or plates at one stage. No where to sit and had to go to a meeting room which felt very weird. The food was luke warm. The juices the was very strong!. The room was set up for 4 people but there was no extra towels, cups etc.

Very quiet and clean. Great breakfast options. Helpful staff but may be need more of them. Nice to have a small bar in the hotel as there was no pub in the immediate vacinity.

I thought it was closer to the bay. There was no sign above the door so I went to the wrong hotel to start with. We were allocated a disability room, no bath and I was worried we might tug on the assitance cord!

Breakfast time was extremely busy with limited tables so had to stand, room wasn't exceptionally clean, stains on carpets and walls, grubby marks on the table and bed side tables.

Good hotel for the price, in a central location, easily walkable to the bay. Comfy beds, staff were nice.

Breakfast could have been better run, had to ask for cutlery, plates, glasses etc. Milk had run out. But it was nice enough.

The location was handy for the city centre, just a 15 min walk but the area was rundown and dirty, I wouldn’t have felt safe walking alone They charge £10 for parking

The room, the heat of the room, the windows all in a state of disrepair with warning stickers on them, rooms air conditioning was blocked with dirt and dust so didn’t work properly. My work colleague was in the room next to mine and his was way cooler! Shower was a trickle not a shower, tap had a leak, the list just goes on

We stayed 2 nights whilst visiting family & a performancs at the Wales Millenium Centre. Our room was spotless & comfortable with all the usual ammenities. Reception staff were welcoming and efficient. Parking was fine for us as we stayed mid-week so plenty of spaces in hotel car park. Breakfast was great - a buffet style help yourself to hot cooked breakfast & the usual choices of cereals or iogurt, toast, croissant, muffins, fresh fruit. Tables cleared quickly & staff ensuring food was replenished as needed. Location was convenient to the Bay & to the city, both within easy walking distance for us (2 OAP’s).

Nothing it was not worth it

Very small in the name of Family Room. In my view it was misrepresentation what I have seen in online or I was told by the booking.com Hence, Breakfast item were very limited. In the room the telephone we were given didn’t work for my entire stay. Every time I had to ask for something I had to go to reception. No minimum wardrobe to put our clothes which is shame. Booking.com advised saying location is 5 min from Cardiff Bay and that is incorrect and misleading information. In reality, Cardiff Bay is about 25 away from the Hotel. Overall I do not recommend anyone visiting Cardiff do not think about to stay at Holiday Express. Rather stay at Novotel or Marriot from decent service. Wish I knew this before.

When using the toilet the first time, it was not clean at all. I had to buy a disinfectant wipe and clean it myself. Even the communal toilet in lobby was a disaster.

Parking is 10 pounds a day and gets full later on in the evenings (they do refund you if you pay, drive somewhere, then cannot get a space).

Very clean, good value for money and close to city centre. We attended a gig at Cardiff Castle and this was within walking distance, comfy and at a great price. Included breakfast was a bonus.

The air-con is a little bit dated and doesn't do much, but the fan provided kept us cool during our stay.

Wij moesten vroeg vertrekken en hadden dit hotel geboekt, omdat daar vanaf 06:30 al ontbeten kon worden. Bij aankomst bleek dat ze een a4 printje over de standaard bordjes hadden geplakt en pas om 07:30 aan het ontbijt kon. Dat moesten wik dus overslaan door tijdsgebrek. Jammer, zonder ontbijt hadden we ook wel iets anders kunnen boeken, voor minder geld.

Ontbijt was later dan beloofd en daardoor voor ons niet mogelijk... maar wel voor moeten betalen.

The Holiday Inn was nicely located for our purposes, only 20 minute walk from Cardiff Central Train station.

The traffic noise was quite loud due to a main road near by.

Unser Aufenthalt im Holiday Inn Express Cardiff Bay war insgesamt vollkommen in Ordnung. Das Hotel ist für einen Aufenthalt in Cardiff praktisch gelegen, da sowohl die Cardiff Bay als auch die Innenstadt gut erreichbar sind. Unser Zimmer war sauber und zweckmäßig und wir hatten insgesamt einen angenehmen Aufenthalt. Das Frühstück war für uns ebenfalls in Ordnung. Die Auswahl war ausreichend und man konnte gut in den Tag starten. Ein kleiner Minuspunkt war allerdings der Kaffee – der hat uns leider überhaupt nicht überzeugt. Schade fanden wir außerdem, dass es keine Möglichkeit gab, aufgeschäumte Milch zu bekommen. Gerade beim Frühstück hätten wir uns einen guten Cappuccino oder Milchkaffee gewünscht. Insgesamt ein solides Hotel für einen Aufenthalt in Cardiff. Es war alles in Ordnung und wir haben uns wohlgefühlt, beim Frühstück und insbesondere beim Kaffee wäre aus unserer Sicht aber noch etwas Luft nach oben.

The location is not exceptionally easy to find but very nice when you are there. Having said that I have stayed at this location often so no problem for me. The breakfast has just about everything you could want, well cooked and plentiful. 10/10. The staff are excellent always.

The car park is inadequate. I paid to park each time but mostly get the cost refunded because of the lack of spaces. Also, I say this at practically every hotel around the world, the toilet paper is by no means good quality.

To start with the positive, both the rooms we had and the public areas were spotlessly clean. There is also plenty of parking - albeit at £10 per night. We were not impressed with this hotel though. Rooms are very basic. No drawers or anywhere to put anything - just a few hangers. Food in the bar is basic, very little choice and very expensive for the quality of what is on offer. Breakfast was a shambles. Orange juice had been watered down so it looked and tasted weird. There were queues for the coffee machines which kept breaking down. Food was lukewarm, poor quality and no choice of eggs (scrambled only). Jams were from large dispensers, but nothing to put them in. We didn’t even bother going to breakfast on our second morning. This feels like a very budget hotel at not particularly budget prices. We visit Cardiff a lot, but definitely won’t be staying here again.

It's a really lovely place to stay - very helpful staff, clean and comfortable, great views of the Bay, breakfast good enough even for people on special diets, walking distance to most places, and overall a very positive experience. Would love to come back again! (We got lost on the way back to the hotel late at night, and everyone we asked did their best to give us the right directions..)
