Self drive through Alfa Holidays. Chose this hotel as I was told there was a big car park at the front of the hotel for about 50 cars. Alas there was parking for just about 5 cars. However I always found a space as many of the visitors were part of a coach tour. The hotel itself is very nice and the staff were extremely polite and worked very hard. Food is basic and portions were small but everything we had was very tasty indeed. Our room was a superior room at the front of the hotel and it was massive with a roll top bath and walk in shower. Tea coffee milk was replenished every day and the room cleaned daily with fresh towels on request. The only problem I had with the hotel was the dining room which was over 40 degrees every day due to the good weather. Eating dinner was extremely uncomfortable. I appreciate there is no way of controlling the weather but sun screens or blinds on the windows and roof would make dinner a little more bearable. Well done to all the dining room staff who worked tirelessly to ensure quick service. Entertainment was hit and miss with bingo every night and a singer on most nights. Would I return, yes probably I would but maybe not in the heat of the summer.
Very good hotel, enjoyed staying, nice pool & location.
Only disappointment was waiting over 10 minutes for the barman to be found as people were waiting to get drinks
Clean, friendly, comfortable
Too hot (no a/c)
Buena ubicación, muy bonito, la piscina muy chula y el personal amable. La habitación grande y la cama muy cómoda.
Había poca luz en el lavabo. Al desayuno le faltaba opciones dulces.
The hotel was lovely and just as I remembered it. Good things sometimes need to stay the same and this iconic hotel is one of them. Shame Bournemouth itself is so awful 😖 The staff are so helpful. The prices very reasonable. We loved sitting in the courtyard. On the down side it does have the feeling that you are in an upper class old folks home
The restaurant catered for the elderly coach parties with limited menu and the restaurant closes very early
helpful staff, clean environment
not enough staff. hard stepping into the high bath to shower and only overhead shower but this was lovely and warm with a strong flow.
Camere grandi, letti comodi
Un albergo un po’ retrò
Breakfast
Love this hotel, staff welcoming, rooms are lovely, relaxing garden, already booked to go again, there is nothing negative to say
Bumped out of staying here as hotel claimed no hot water in room. They would not let me see room and we patiently explained that no hot water was no problem Staff offered no assistance to find alternative accommodation. We believe they resold room at higher price. Total waste of time and Booking.com offered fully booked places or a highly substandard one well away from beach at an exorbitant price. Very poor service by Norfolk Royale hotel and Booking.com

Bonne localisation Établissement calme Superbe piscine Bon petit déjeuner Personnel bienveillant
The hotel was fantastic and our room was huge. Met some lovely people along the way. Sadly the food was not so good. Very poor. The staff worked really hard and were always very polite even when under duress. Bournemouth itself has become very run down sadly
Bounced out under false reason. Out Booking.com was cancelled 1 hour before checkin after a 4 hour journey as the hotel claimed that the boiler was broken and no hot water gor the room. They were unable to show me the room and I patiently explained we were used to not having hot water to no avail. The hotel most likely sold the room at a higher price and couldnt deny it. Highly disruptive and immoral for us with 2 small children and infirm lady. Booking.com offered 4 alternatives 3 of which were fully booked and the 4 was very very inferior and twice as expensive as the prebooked Norfolk Royale weeks before. Absolute scam and ruined our one holiday of the year involving much extra expense.
Great location Very friendly Lovely room
TV just didn’t work properly Terrible signal, just nice to turn n on before bed but just didn’t work.
The room was spacious and comfortable with all amenities.
We did attend breakfast on the first morning but unfortunately the service was really poor, with staff taking orders from newcomers who just wandered in without being checked. We had already been seated along with another couple, and we had to wait until we could attract the staff's attention, who then seemed put out!
Room was quite clean and breakfast nice enough , good location with a convenient parking lot underneath . Staff were helpful and cheery Nice biscuits in the rooms Bed quite comfortable
The hotel seemed a bit worn out. Outside by the gardens looked in need of attention and updating Public areas needed some re organisation.in terms of furniture Too much Alfa Hotel printed collateral in all areas looked cheap . Breakfast sitting was full so had to go back twice but was good at the end. Coffee was a bit weak though The room was quite clean and a nice bathroom, but dirty marks all over all painted surfaces and doors etc. Place needs a good general clean in corners and edges and paint re fresh throughout Poor in room lighting , except by the bed
The outside of the building looks nice
Bed is uncomfortable has lumps, there is dust everywhere, the pool has broken tiles to which cut my foot and the only thing staff was worried about was using my towel to cover the blood up and was made to walk a different direction back to my room so no one saw me, I think for a 4 star hotel it needs a lot of work ie rooms updated and new mattresses, cleaning, fix the pool from broken tiles, the morning breakfast instead of staff getting rude because you have asked to pay for two days and was told no we don’t do that which is fine but being rude is a no.. I won’t be staying here again the whole experience was a shamble from the start to finish.
Room was a good size with 2chairs and was quiet. Staff in breakfast were very friendly and helpful. Outside space and garden was very welcome in the warm weather. Location was within easy walk to town centre shops and park.

Location was within walking distance to all amenities
Lovely clean well equipped and so quiet at night considering it was right in the town centre. Staff were outstanding and so pleasant and helpful.
Locatie. Grote kamers.
Het hotel is niet met zn tijd meegegaan.
Great hotel, good room, good bath. Good health club, pool, jacuzzi. Friendly staff
I spent 4 nights at the hotel as part of a organised coach holiday. Although the hotel is typical of large hotels of this era and is a little tired. However the management and young staff were beyond exceptional. I have stayed in 5* hotels and have not had the level of service and attention to detail throughout our stay. Keep up the good work, many thanks to you all
Swimming pool, staff, felt like home. Parking, position of hotel
BREAKFAST ONLY UNTIL 8.30AM!!!!!! Check in only after 4!! Seems like the hotel is trying to make money by hoping people there will sleep in so wont make it downstairs. Car park now public so no guarantee of a space. Coffee in the rooms sadly the worst I've every had anywhere. We love the hotel and stayed many times but its so gone downhill
All staff very nice, special shout out to night porter. I dont know his name, but his service was exceptional.
Food, I tried only breakfast, but I wouldn't recommend it at all. Im sorry.
Rooms nice
Breakfast was terrible inedible Very dated outside scruffy
The hotel was very nice and clean. My room was very nice. It was spacious and the location was brilliant as it was quiet. Even the garden at the rear of the hotel was lovely to sit out in, in the evening. Craig the manager was very friendly and helpful. The staff were friendly too. Would recommend this hotel.
Friendly staff, clean hotel food and drink priced well.
I'll definitely be returning because everything was perfect for me during my stay the first week in July 2026. It's a lovely hotel and the rooms are well equipped, spotless and the mattress was fabulous and I slept well. I used the leisure facilities twice and thoroughly enjoyed the spa and pool. The hotel is in a nice area within a short walk to the lovely gardens, beach and shops. Finally the food was good and the staff were very nice. Hello to Craig and congratulations on acquiring the post of manager of Norfolk royale. I'd met him before and find him extremely pleasant and professional. Well done to all the team. Thankyou for everything.
Location was good
The room. Very oppressive room as in eaves of building. Very hot too
The room and the bedding
I had to buy drinking Water because the bar was closed.
The staff were excellent
Good central location
The pool and jacuzzi
Breakfast has to be one of the worst breakfasts I've had, dry cold, and when I ordered, it was on my table in 30 seconds. Clearly, not fresh. Really let this hotel down.
Excellent location, clean and friendly.
The room was very very hot. We did attend during a heatwave, but would expect a fan in the room given the temperature as there was no aircon.
Good central location..spotlessly clean..friendly,efficient staff who go out of their way to help..special call out to Craig for exceeding this customer’s expectations…bar prices good…WiFi excellent…plentiful extra comfortable seating in lounge and bar areas…peaceful, secluded garden, again with plentiful seating….pool a nice extra in the heatwave we’re just experiencing. Came with an Alfa coach party..driver Dominic ..relaxed and humorous..a real performer and an excellent driver. Will be back
Comfy and clean
Paid car parking
We had a week here with Alfa holidays. The hotel was good staff friendly and efficient. Meals were good. Our room was a superior room large and airy with biscuits drinks and water. The hotel manager Craig came on the coach to welcome us and when we left came to say goodbye. Our driver Paul was excellent really nice guy and knowledgeable and also very knowledgeable about the area. Will be booking again with Alfa.
Breakfast was good staff very helpful and welcoming. First room we stayed in was awful and drab 2nd visit was much better better room light and airy.
Pillows very soft
Staff super attentive and friendly.
Coaches of seniors, nothing against seniors but at breakfast there was only one other group that was under 70. Felt like I was on the set of the film Cocoon. The menu caters more to this age range. Breakfast could be updated. Also bedroom floor was very squeaky with every step. Small fridge or bottles of water in the room would be more standard these days also, some variety of teas, mint tea?
Perfect location and it was great to have the swimming pool with the garden
The bathroom was old fashion and could be better with a shower tray as there was a big coach with elderly people staying there ,so it must not be easy for them .
It’s friendliness and comfort.
The bathroom needs a little attention to make it fresher and cleaner
Lovely building with attractive amenities. Our room was spacious and very clean.
Nothing.
location of hotel and room
The room was really lovely, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable! The hotel itself is in a fantastic location, albeit up a hill. You are approx 5 mins walk from a Wetherspoons, and the beach is about a 10-15 minute stroll. The swimming pool was lovely and warm, and the hot tub was nice too. The view outside the pool area is really lovely. The gardens are gorgeous. There is secure parking available in an underground car park, but it is NOT included in the hotel cost - you need to pay for this separately (was about £40 for our two day stay). The staff were friendly and helpful, and allowed us early access to use the pool facilities as we arrived two hours before we were able to check in. We didn't use the restaurant or breakfast area, but we heard good things from other travellers. The hotel hosts nightly meals and bingo which looked fun, but was very popular!
The pool showers took quite a while to get warm, and you have to keep pressing the button every 20 seconds or so. Slightly longer would be nicer! The view from our room wasn't great, as it was just a brick wall! But we weren't there to spend time in the hotel room so it didn't bother us too much.
Room wasn't ready. Booked two singles got a double. Mouse trap beside bed.no coffee or tea condiments Limited.pool area was clean but the pool had thick green algae. 2x hand towels no bath towels.staff were very polite and helpful. But we had to wait for the bed to be separated and re dressed and had to ask twice for towels to wash after our long journey. Breakfast was amazing staff were super helpful and polite.
Area was beautiful the gardens were beautiful and relaxing. Close to shops beech and restaurants. Very quiet area slept great in the beds were soo comfy.
Able to gwt dotage milk for my cereal
Really friendly staff, clean and comfortable, would stay again.
Bar closed at 11pm which was a little early but nothing else negative.
Nice comfortable room witth good bed (not to hard) hot drinks available in the room including hot chocolate nice breakfast very quick and efficiant service all round a very pleasent stay
Den gamle stil. Dejlig seng.
Det fremgik ikke tydeligt at pladserne ved morgenbuffeten var reserverede. Så os er ikke var på et ophold faktisk ikke rigtig kunne finde plads. vinduerne på værelset havde set bedre dage.
The staff was really kind and very professional. Both the reception and the breakfast crew were top notch.
The room requires a small renovation and slightly more care towards cleaning. Curtains had spots, window frame was very dusty as well.
Needs updating
Bath yellow windows rattle
Just got back from this hotel we could not falt it at all ,the staff could not do enough for you , food was lovely and the room was to, beds are very comfortable i would recommend this hotel
Great location, great staff, great service
A very comfortable, cozy room, perfect for a single traveller. Close to the town centre and not too far from the beach. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The hotel was well kept, tidy and clean and was excellent value for the price.
I don't think you could have done much better at twice the price, so really there's nothing that I didn't like.
The hotel and staff were very professional, helpful and very caring. Lovely helpful and very friendly. The room was always kept clean. The menu had a wide variety of meals.
Convenient walking distance to The Square, shops, restaurants, buses, pier
Beds were a little hard and the food average
I had the pleasure to stay at The Norfolk Royale hotel Bournemouth for 4 nights recently on a B&B basis. The hotel has had a new management team within the last 12 months, the communication and customer service for what I would deem to be a top end budget/mid range price hotel was excellent. All the staff are friendly and focused on delivering a great guest experience. The hotel is situated just a few minutes walk from the town centre where there is ample restaurant and sufficient nightlife options for all tastes. The beach/pier is approx 10 minutes walk from the hotel through the delightful park gardens. The bedrooms are larger than the average hotel rooms I have stayed in previously and are serviced on a daily basis, some rooms have the luxury of a bath and shower and all ensuites are a good size. Although I stayed on B&B basis the hotel does offer evening meals for those that wish to book this. The breakfast had the full range from fresh fruit and juice, cereal, toast and full English cooked breakfast. Reception also offers a packed lunch/meal deal option at a very reasonable price. The hotel has a fully licenced bar and offers entertainment in the evenings in the form of a different singer/DJ in the function room each night. There is a smallish pool and jacuzzi, the pool is ideal for family splash time as opposed to lane swimming. There is on site secure parking at an additional charge (slightly cheaper if booked online before arrival), which I recommend as there is very limited free street parking in the area. I would recommend this hotel and I hope to return over the course of the summer.
The parking was great even they had to pay extra for it it wasn't a ridiculous price booked in advance. The swimming pool and Jacuzzi were just perfect but could get busy if there were a lot of people. The room was clean very quiet really good value for money. Staff for incredibly friendly and helpful
The dinner options were limited but I don't know if it was because it's out of season and it was catered for a coach party.
Very pleased and will use them again
Large room very clean. Hotel well looked after smooth check in process. Location was excellent right in the middle of town,
Beds and pillows were a little too hard
Everything was really nice stay
-
Extremely clean & comfortable All staff very friendly except the barman was awful
Nothing we didn't like.
Schönes Hotel mit nostalgischem Charme, nette Hotelbar und preiswertes, gutes englisches Frühstück. Direkt in der City gelegen. Ein kostenpflichtiger Parkplatz ist in direkter Nähe. Sehr freundliches Personal!
Comfortable large room , very good assortment of drinks and biscuits . Hotel close to the town centre with all its amenities and short walk through the gardens to the beach
In need of some updating/decorating but perfectly acceptable
Really nice hotel. Good size room and staff very friendly and helpful
The entertainment and the stuff
The room
Great location , needs refurb in certain rooms , ripped wallpaper in my room . Issue with moths in my room , even in my bed
Nothing but just dated
Central location with parking below(pay separately) breakfast well prices large room
Pool has a non lone swim policy so if alone could only use jacuzzi which is mad as pool is very small
Excellent location. Carpark under the hotel. Nice spacious clean rooms. Lovely pool area with jacuzzi.
The lift only worked on the first day we were there, so we then had to use the stairs, which when your room is on the top floor, was quite a work out!
Large room Comfy bed and good pillows Staff attentive and friendly Great location and easy parking Breakfast tasty Staff very Attentive and friendly
We stayed twice first room very dull and tired but clean and comfy. Second visit bright airy room with garden view clean and comfy but bathroom no window and no extractor fan.
Stayed here with work. The room, cosy and clean but a really weird shape. You come in the door and look directly at the toilet. The service, i had been working since 0630. It was gone 2000 by the time I arrived and I was hungry. Sorry, food stops at 8pm. Seriously??? Also, there’s bugger all parking, especially if you’re driving a van. So in essence unless you are on foot and over 80 do not book here. This is not the place for working people to stay. Go to a Premier inn.
Location. In thr middle of everyrhing
Decor dated
Central location, great breakfast , facilities (pool) and lovely staff
Staff were very good and in agood location
Hotel quite dated but met the age of most of the residents
Lovely rooms and lovely staff Great location.
Leaving.
The breakfast doesn't have much choice
Lovely and clean hotel. Mixing the dated building with modern in a fabulous way. Swimming pool was lovely warm and not busy . Staff polite and helpful. Beds clean and comfy . Bathroom modern. Didn't eat there . Would defo stay again . My two grandsons loved it .

Close to town centre.. swimming pool was lovely my kids really enjoyed it.
Nothing
Liked bedroom and bathroom, lounge areas, dining rooms, breakfast and bar. All very clean and comfortable. Enjoyed evening entertainment.
There was nothing I didn’t like.
Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Good breakfast. Room was good although we had paid extra for an upgraded room. Not sure what a normal basic room would be like. Has a swimming pool but rather limited in size.
It would appear that the hotel caters for coach parties so make sure you know when they are booked in for breakfast. We went in the pool as a family but if there had been 3 families there it would have been overcrowded.
2nd visit to the Norfolk Royale Hotel, Lovely ground floor room, clean excellent facilities, nice spacious garden and very good and comfortable lounges, didn't use the entertainment lounge so cannot vouch for that or the quality of the entertainment. Breakfast and evening meals fair quality, usual same meals at each hotel, just depends on the quality of the chef which in this case was great, wish Alfa would change use of root vegetables and have greens. Staff were excellent, always polite, and attentive, if a bit much but rather have that than be ignored.
Very nice and clean hotel parking below very secure. Rooms very comfortable. Close to the shops and beaches. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast...10/10 👍
Staff were very welcoming and friendly
The pillows
I found the hotel, clean and bright. The swimming pool and hot tub was fabulous. The entertainment was good and the staff were friendly.
Parking was a big issue. I had paid for parking and couldn’t even get into the underground parking. When I complained to a member of staff, I was told it was a third party responsible for parking. The hotel is a good/long walk to the beach.
Location is fabulous
