ibis Edinburgh Centre Royal Mile

The hotel was in a central location to Old Edinburgh’ and all of the great shops, restaurants and attractions. The hotel staff were very helpful, friendly and welcoming. The room was very clean.. and the hotel had a bright and comfortable sitting/bar area. I thought everything was excellent. I would highly recommend it… and would definitely stay there again.

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our visit. The hotel had a lovely atmosphere, and the service was excellent. The location was also very convenient, making it easy to explore the surrounding area. Overall, we had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay and would happily return again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay!

Rooms were really small even by European standard. The twin beds were so narrow you couldn’t turn over without falling off.

Amazing location! Just half a block from the middle of the Royal Mile. Perfect for walking EVERYWHERE! They have a fabulous buffet!

Rooms are quite expensive even for it being high season.

Close to everything and walkable. Was given a fan as I suffer from hot flushes night so was good to have it.

Aircon didn’t work, receptionist took a look also didn’t know why it wasn’t working. Very noisy from the street, people, pubs, street events - noisy all night yo 5am.

It was very warm, the air conditioner didn’t work so we had to keep a window open all night, and we were essentially in the middle of the Fringe festival, which went till after 4 AM. We got very little sleep over the course of the two days we were there.

We booked the property for the location however we were unaware that it faces onto a space where undesirable people frequent and police presence was required constantly.

For the price we paid this property was way below value. Room was hot due to aircon dining not working properly. The bathroom amenities were inadequate. We had to request 3 times for face washers. No phones in rooms to ring reception.

The rooms & bathrooms were so small. The beds were small and uncomfortable. Room was very hot. Only an "air cooler" no AC. We had to ask for an extra portable fan. The hotel was way too expensive for the quality.

Fabulous location and really lovely staff.

It was undeniably expensive but no more so (in fact less so) than every other hotel in the centre of Edinburgh during The Fringe.

The location was very good, and the staff were nice, friendly, and helpful. The bathroom was also good and well maintained

There were quite a few things we were disappointed with. The sofa bed was very poor quality and really not comfortable enough to sleep on. The curtains had several holes in them, and overall the room felt very worn out and quite old. It wasn't really a room where we felt like spending much time. We had also paid extra to upgrade to a premium room specifically for the view, but unfortunately the view was partially blocked and didn't feel worth the additional cost. Overall, the room definitely needs refurbishment and better maintenance, especially considering the premium room price

Dostaliśmy po jednym ręczniku na os. I wspólny do rąk. Następnego dnia wymieniony został tylko duży. Drzwi do łazienki nie zatrzymywały sie otwarte, , więc nie można było wywietrzyć łazienki po kąpieli. Brak Szczotki WC!

We were horrified at the smell of smoking when entering the room. Previous occupants had clearly chain smoked for days previously to our arrival. Pillow stank of smoke...Disgusting!!...house keeping should of been on top of this for the price we paid for the room.

Location of the hotel was great for touring the Old Town etc during Edinburgh The Fringe. Everything else was just about ok. The bedroom and bathroon are fairly small and quite basic. Noise outside at night kept wakening us but this was not the hotels fault. Breakfast was ok, again fairly standard. However price they and all hotels in Edinburgh charged because The Fringe was running is extortionate!

Stadt war übervoll von Menschen! Kühlschrank im Zimmer oder Getränkeautomat in der Lobby wäre super, damit auch jederzeit gekühlte Getränke möglich wären.

Our experience was truly awful. Room was small & dirty, no air con, only one bedside table, huge wet stain on carpet, toilet had constant foul smell, tiny window looking into concrete and other guest rooms. When we asked for other pillows we were refused pillow cases for them! This is a badly run low class hostel claiming to be and charging the price of a hotel... Do yourself a favor and avoid... We've stayed in dozens of wonderful hotels in Edinburgh, this is the ONLY bad one!

The only good thing about this hotel is location everything else was abysmal!

Our room was filthy, huge wet stain on carpet, bathroom stunk so badly we'd to cover our faces to use the shower, there was no air con, only one bedside table... Staff were unhelpful, when we asked for an extra pillow they refused pillow cases to cover them! I was assured safe gluten free options.. That didn't happen! The view was looking straight into other rooms.. I've stayed in dozens hotels all over the world and this is at best a very poor hostel but charges top dollar, £500pn!!! Do yourself a favor, do not stay here!

Die Lage ist ausgezeichnet, das Frühstück ist ganz ok und das Personal ist mehrheitlich sehr freundlich.

Während unserem viertägigen Aufenthalt mussten wir zweimal das Zimmer wechseln. Gleich zu Beginn, weil wir statt dem gebuchten Zweibett-Zimmer (stand so explizit auf der Buchungsbestätigung) ein Zimmer mit Doppelbett zugeteilt bekamen. Wir wollten aber zwei separate Bettdecken und die gibt es nur bei zwei Einzelbetten, weshalb wir ja auch ein solches Zimmer gebucht haben. Leider stellte sich das aber erst beim Beziehen des 1. Zimmers heraus und wir sind dann noch einmal zur Rezeption runter um zu fragen, ob wir das eigentlich gebuchte Zimmer haben könnten. Es war dann noch ein Zweibett-Zimmer zu haben, aber auch rasch klar, warum das Zimmer noch frei war - es roch nämlich sehr übel dort drin. Nach zwei Nächten war dann auch klar warum, es hat zwischen dem sehr kleinen Badezimmer und dem Zimmer irgendwo ein Wasserleck im Boden. Der Teppich im Zimmer war komplett durchnässt und es stank noch mehr als vorher. Dieses Problem besteht mit Sicherheit schon länger, da sind wir uns sehr sicher und das Zimmer sollte gar nicht mehr an Gäste vergeben werden. Wir kamen uns sehr betrogen vor. Wir konnten dann zwar für die letzte Nacht noch einmal das Zimmer tauschen, es gab aber keinerlei Entschuldigungsgeste z.B. in Form eines Bons für die Bar oder so. Dass das noch sehr junge Personal keinerlei Kompetenzen hat um in problematischen Situationen angemessen zu handeln, wurde erst recht klar, als wir uns wegen dem offensichtlich falsch verrechneten Preis erkundigen wollten. Der Endpreis wurde uns gleich am ersten Abend unserer Anreise in unserer Heimwährung in Rechnung gestellt. Wir stellten später fest, dass es rund 70 CHF mehr waren, als auf unserer Buchungsbestätigung inkl. Taxes stand. Das Personal meinte, da können sie leider gar nichts tun, das läge an unserer Kreditkarte. Ich bezahle mit dieser Kreditkarte seit 25 Jahren und habe noch nie für ein Hotelzimmer mehr bezahlt, als auf der Buchung stand. In kurzen Worten: alles sehr unprofessionell und NICHT kundinnenfreundlich.

Great central location for Edinburgh festival. Breakfast was good value although choices were limited (eggs were scrambled only and no porridge available). The late bar was good and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room itself was basic but we would consider coming back for the location near the royal mile.

Our room (101) was facing the street so although it was good to have the view, it was very noisy during the festival with street performers right outside the window during the day and shouting festival goers until the early hours of the morning. We would have liked to close the window but the room was very hot (no AC) even though the weather was fairly cool.

Veldig fornøyd med alt, bortsett fra små detaljer ved frokosten. Maten var god, utvalget var greit, men fatene var ofte tom, og det kunne ta litt lang tid før de ble fylt på. Men ellers suveren beliggenhet, rent og pent og hyggelig betjening 👌🤩

Incredibilmente centrale. Esattamente sulla Royal Mile, dietro alla Cattedrale di St Giles, tutto quello che c’è da vedere a Edimburgo è a non più di 45 minuti a piedi. Perfetto. Le camere sono spaziose e pulite anche se essenziali.

Le camere al primo piano non sono silenziose, le zone comuni sono pulite, ma usurate, la colazione era abbastanza basic e con poca scelta.

Locatie was super, met een barretje in het hotel kon je aan het einde van de dag een afzakkertje nemen. Ontbijtruimte was prima en het ontbijt goed.

Badkamer is aan vervanging toe, douche spekglad, kraan veel te klein (kan je handen nouwelijks wassen. Geen toiletborstel en de afvoer liep bijna niet door. Airco werkt ook nouwelijks helaas.

Great location and the hotel staff are very helpful. One of the best aspects of the hotel really is the location. We also liked the rooms. They fit our needs well and we were very happy with our stay.

The windows in the rooms don't open as there are a double set of windows to block the sound (they work great). It was a little warm but not too bad (it was on the hotter side for Scotland when we were visiting). It would be nice to be able to open the windows a bit but overall a minor issue.

The staff were friendly and accommodating. On the first night, after a long drive to Edinburgh, I couldn’t sleep for most of the night due to noise outside. The shower room wasn’t very good either. When i showed, the water spread across the floor and pooled by the toilet. When I mentioned this to staff, they were helpful and provided me with another room the following day.

The breakfast was disappointing, and the rooms felt dated and in need of refurbishment.

Hotel placed in excellent location, just at the RoyalMile, it was the best thing about the hotel - its location. Customer service was excellent - we were able to get into the room 3 hours before check-in time. Thanks for it. Room was rather tiny, as expected, a bit loud as it is in the center, was clean. Hotel itself is already some years old and it was just visible. PS. There is sth like Platform 9 3/4 from Harry Potter - if you get 3rd floor - one of elevators doesn't stop on 3rd floor :):)

There are couple improvement - three main ones: 1. Water was literally leaking from the shower, it was hard to bath yourself. 2. Breakfast was OK, enough to choose, same stuff all 3 days we have been there, however you have the feeling like always there was something missing and you need to ask service to bring additional cheese, ham etc. 3. And please improve your coffee at the breakfast - it was the worst quality coffee I have ever had been served in hotels :(

La ubicación en pleno Royal Mile es inigualable. Desde ahí tienes acceso a los principales lugares de la ciudad. La habitación estaba limpia y si no deseas que te limpien la habitación, te dan £5 de descuento en la barra del hotel.

What a sensational location for a wonderful hotel that provided the most welcoming service that would be the envy of similar ACCOR branded hotels we have stayed at over the years. We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the hotel to see how central it was to all that is to be seen in Edinburgh, literally one hundred metres from the iconic Golden Mile. With Edinburgh about to host the Edinburgh Tatoo and the Fringe Festival soon after our arrival and with the city full of tourists, the welcome we received from Ricky and Aaron was above and beyond anything we had expected. In fact Ricky, Aaron, Justine, Martin and the full Ibis team were brilliant. The warmth and support during our stay from all staff made us feel very much at home. We couldn’t have asked for better care. We appreciated the welcome drink in the lounge during our stay which was also very generous with few restrictions on what we could choose as a drink. We were offered an upgrade to the fifth floor overlooking the bustling Hunter Square and received a very kind and generous welcome gift of two small bottle of spirits, a soft drink, two sparkling water bottles and two very tasty berry muffins. Being in the hotel on a weekend night during our stay also meant we were able to have a complimentary breakfast on the Saturday morning. Our room felt spacious, particularly having the large windows overlooking the square providing lots of natural light. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom just right for our two night stay. The ibis Edinburgh Centre Royal Mile, could not have been a more perfectly situated for our time in Edinburgh. We would not hesitate to stay there again should we ever find our selves back in Scotland. As always it is the staff who look after guests in he hotels that always make our stays so memorable. The ibis Edinburgh Centre Royal Mile is definitely one of the most welcoming of hotel experiences we have had for quite some time, due largely to the team who work at the hotel and who clearly love their jobs!
