Stay Central Hotel

Das Stay Central Hotel liegt mitten in der Innenstadt Edinburghs. Alles ist fußläufig erreichbar. Das Zimmer war sehr groß. Für zwei Personen gab es es ein riesiges Zimmer mit zwei Doppelbetten. Das Bett war sehr bequem. Das Frühstück haben wir nicht in Anspruch genommen.

Das Hotel ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Eine Renovierung wäre in vielen Bereichen angesagt. Die Aussicht aus dem Fenster ging hinaus auf eine Hinterhoftreppe und eine riesige Mauer. Tageslicht Fehlanzeige. Nebenan befindet sich ein Musikclub. Hier läuft ohrenbetäubende Musik bis spät in die Nacht. Da helfen leider auch die bereitgelegten Ohrenstöpsel nichts mehr. An Schlaf ist nicht zu denken gewesen. Das Bad ist zwar großzügig. Die Fugen schreien allerdings nach dringender Renovierung.

Rooms were ‘claustrophobic ‘ . At the end of low ceiling hallway, the room also had low ceilings which can be confronting if you suffer from claustrophobia.

Lights in room kept going on and off. TV had very poor signal - no channels worked. AC did not work properly. The hotel did send someone in straightaway to have a look at the problems but they were not fixed. I mentioned this at checkout again.

Stort executive-dobbelt- eller 2-personersværelse, det var hvad vi bestilte, og vi gav 311 pund for dette ophold. Sengen var elendig. Der var ikke aircondition på værelset. Lige over sengen i forenden er en indblæsning, hvor varmen stod og blæset varm luft ind, og det var rigtig varmt at være på værelset. Det var ikke rent. Vinduerne var så beskidte at det næste ikke var til at se ud af dem. Vi havde den tvivlsomme fornøjelse af at have udsigt til en ulækker og beskidt baggård. På grund af varmen måtte vi åbne vinduerne, det betød så at vi havde glæde af det vintilationsanlæg der summende uden for vinduet. Om morgenen viste det sig at det var udsugningen fra et køkken, og der stank i rummet af mad. Det var simpelthen under alt kritik, og lever kun på morgenmaden og personalets behandling op til den beskrivelse der er på booking. Tænk at det kun var 50 pund billigere end Marriot hvor vi boede dagen før. Badeværelset var klamt, gulvet i værelset var i stykker. Det var ikke i nærheden af det vi bestilte: Large Executive Double or Twin Room: 1 large double”

For a hotel during the Fringe, this was in an excellent place, and you couldn't hear the sounds of the revellers in the street and venue outside. The staff were very helpful and quickly came up with solutions when we had a few problems in the room.

Sadly the air conditioning didn't work for one of the nights, so they moved us room at 1am. I know accommodation at the Edinburgh fringe is expensive, but you could have a room at an all inclusive resort in the Caribbean for a night here during the fringe. I accepted that's the situation and all the central hotels bump up the prices over the Fringe. But it is sad to see the shows trying to make do on £17 a ticket for their show to cover the actors, back stage and front of house when the hotels are making over 15 times that per room per night, and I bet the staff at the hotels are on standard wage throughout the year. The risk is that accommodation is pricing people out of seeing low cost theatre.

Lokalizacja była ok, dość blisko głównych atrakcji chociaż hotel na uboczu przy ruchliwej ulicy. Obok hotelu pub z karaoke, ale były zapewnione zatyczki do uszu. Śniadania były ok, chociaż są dopiero od 8 więc jak ktoś ma rano lot czy wycieczkę to nie skorzysta.

Pokój byl brudny, nie opróżniono nawet śmietnika po poprzednich gościach. Dziwny zapach w pokoju i nawet nie można było wywietrzyc, okna są na stałe zamknięte. W łazience straszny hałas kiedy ktos na wyższych piętrach brał prysznic, bulgotanie jakby gotowała się woda w czajniku. Skrzypiąca podłoga budziła w nocy.

Es insoportable la ubicación. Hotel colocado encima de 3 pubs y salas de concierto. Uno no puede dormir hasta las 2.00... mirad cómo son las cosas que el hotel te ofrece tapones para los oídos :(

The hotel was very clean and all staff were so lovely throughout our night stay! Beds were really comfy and had no issues with noise. Breakfast In the morning was good, no issues. Hotel is a very good location.

The whole place was clean, comfortable, modern and within easy walk of local tourist attractions! It was minutes from Grassmarket, and Greyfriars Bobby. The reception staff were amazing! Very friendly, attentive and professional! The downstairs bar and pool table were a great bonus for myself and my teen sons, who loved having a game! The beds were comfortable! The room was warm, but easy to cool down if it got too warm and the shower was lovely after a long day of walking around the city.

The noise levels were very high on the busier nights. I am not saying that this is the fault of the property, as we mistakenly booked our weekend away during Fringe which was busier - but despite reading reviews about the noise from the bar downstairs, then we still booked, wondering if people were over-exaggerating. I am not sure the hotel can do a lot about the noise, other than introduce more noise proofing? But with a small child in our party, and music being played exceptionally loudly until 4.30am (3pm the downstairs bar closed, but then people were very loudly laughing, shouting and talking near the stairwell outside our dorm) then we realised that maybe this place didn’t suit families - which is a shame because we booked the dorm and it was so roomy for us all. The loudest nights were the Friday and Saturday, and my children and myself struggled to sleep - despite there being earplugs available (my youngest couldn’t get these in his ears) - but on the Sunday, the levels were a lot more manageable and we slept quite well, it’s possible that we booked at the wrong time - and that this place would be perfect during quieter times (out of school hols, week breaks instead, etc)

It was in a good location and not far from any where we wanted to go

The room was very small and the furnishings were less than basic. The breakfast was cold and very unappetizing. The scrambled eggs were rubbery and there was no choice of having an egg cooked in another way. We were there for 3 days for B&B but only had one breakfast as it was that bad we ate somewhere else.

The property was nice, however, we were put in an area where it was for club and partygoers with our children and it was rated on here to go with her children as a family place! This was bookings suggestion not the hotels fault

It was really loud because there was a bar downstairs but also a bar at the side with events we wasn’t told about

We requested a room on the quieter side of the hotel, it being fairly central. We could hear almost nothing of the Edinburgh revelries, so we’re well satisfied. The room was comfortable and warm and air conditioned. Plenty of clean towels and a heated towel rail. The staff were pleasant and helpful, and the beds comfortable. We didn’t have a breakfast deal, but could see that the breakfast people were eating looked substantial. We would readily stay there again.

The shower was roomy, but rather slippery, so a rubber mat would have been a welcome addition.

The noise, it was horrible, never ever had it so bad! It was like sleeping ( trying) in the middle of a disco/beergarden. The music/beat kept going until 3:30 at night and the cleaning of the glasses etc started at 7:30 The music was so loud that even with the windows closed and earplugs and a pillow over our head it was not doable. The whole family was exhausted and upon arrival It was dirty, leftovers in the fridge, someone’s belongings still in the cupboard after complaining they cleaned and had to come back a second time because it was not clean at all Breakfast was bad as well

Friendly & helpful staff, size of room was good

Loud thumping base beat of the night club was loue in the room until 3am every weekday night. Bathroom drains were smelly, paint peeling in the shower. Not able to open any windows despite being on the first floor. Market the hotel for people going out out- everyone else avoid!

The location is perfect. At walking distance to everything but also in the middle of the bar district so be aware that in August, you will hear loud music every night until 3 am.

The bathroom door is a smoked glass door with an inch opening all around which lets all the sounds good through the door, not idea for a family of 4. Hearing the water running loudly down the pipe from other rooms was a big disappointment for the price.

This was a great place to stay! Great location, comfortable room with plenty of space for 2, it was totally quiet at night, all the staff were lovely and Amber went above and beyond to help us out. I definitely would come back!

It was clean enough but could be even better – stains on the bed linens that need to be bleached, some mold/dirt near the shower, etc. Housekeeping takes out trash & changes towels daily but only changed bed linens once and never did any actual cleaning – maybe they do if it's a longer stay (we stayed 5 nights). For me that wasn't a big deal but YMMV.

The staff were all very nice and helpful! The location was excellent, very walkable to all sights.

This place has a "party hostel" vibe. The bar on the corner is LOUD until after 3 am. Then the staff cleans up... so it's loud thumping music and sports til 3, then bottles / glass / what have you being tossed into dumpsters til after dawn. Also we heard what sounded like cleaning carts in the hallways late at night.....odd time to clean if that's what that was. We did not get one good night's sleep our whole trip. If you are a party person, this place is perfect. If you want to rest AT ALL, do not stay here.

Friendly casual hotel, had relaxed mixted guests (young, old, family), great location for accessing the castle. Breakfast was good (not included by default, but can be added).

No parking, but I expect most guests wouldn't choose to arrive by car, we only did because of disability. (We used pre-bookabke ParkBee Radisson Blue parking 5min walk away which is a decent solution).

Check in was delayed because room not cleaned. But when we got in the room there were dirty mugs and ketchup (?) smears on furniture. Outside the window was an outdoor bar/club which had a loud music going full blast until 2am on a Sunday/Monday night.

シングルベッドの幅がとても狭い上に、ベッドの高さがあり、寝相が悪い人は落ちそう。 部屋に耳栓が置いてあったが、使っても相当うるさかった。通りに面する部屋だと深夜まで併設のスポーツバーの音楽と歓声が聞こえ、通りに面していない側の部屋だと深夜までは静かだが、夜中の1時過ぎにゴミ回収車のガラス瓶などを回収するすごい音が聞こえる。この字型の裏庭に巨大なゴミ箱があり、それを回収する音だった。

It was a great location and a super fun place to stay! We also each (4 of us) each had our own king sized bed! It was amazing and so much fun!

Despite the party noise from World Cup, we had a great time and joined the party! It only lasted about a journey after we went to bed, but they provided ear plugs and that was very helpful and nice.

We liked how close this hotel was to everything. The hotel staff was great. The room was clean and comfortable and fit our whole family.

No washer / dryer available and no laundry service. Walking to/from the hotel felt like walking through a trashy alleyway- literally walking by a line of garbage can full of empty beer bottles from the night before and streets where people were likely vomiting and peeing while drunk in the alleyways the night before. That wasn’t my favorite… but otherwise it was a great place to stay.

The fact my stay was short

There were parties at the bar directly next to the hotel until 2am ish each night (on a Monday and a Tuesday). There were drunk 20 year olds wandering through the reception area, made me feel quite unsafe that I barricaded my door each night. Reception also called me at 1am to ask if they could come to my room to see my passport (had just filled out a form with all my details). Felt pretty unprofessional. The bathroom tiles in the shower were broken and dirty, scratched my foot while showering so resorted to using sandals while I showered. Location for sightseeing was good but kegs and rubbish bins were being thrown around outside my room all night so overall not a great experience.

Habitación muy ruidosa , ya que la ventana daba a una discoteca al aire libre, con el ruido constante. Los aseos de la discoteca estaban en la misma planta que la habitación, concretamente el sábado que la fiesta se incrementó, los asistentes embriagados aporreaban y gritaban en la puerta de la habitación Todos los días que estuvimos había fiesta por lo que el descanso era difícil. La habitación cuádruple tenía una litera, y la cama superior además de acceso difícil, tenía poco espacio entre cama y techo, bastante agobiante. El agua de la ducha ,salía ardiendo, sin posibilidad de regular la temperatura. La limpieza justa, desde él primer día había una pastilla en el suelo (de los anteriores huéspedes)y continuó en la habitación toda nuestra estancia, por lo que deducimos que la habitación no se limpiaba, solo hacían las camas por encima. El descanso fue muy difícil, teníamos en el escritorio tapones para los oídos que resultaban insuficientes. El domingo nos fuimos de hotel y las escaleras estaban en un estado lamentable ,con restos de la fiesta de los borrachos del sábado.

Overall the hotel was very good. The room and the bathrooms were nice. It was very nice having the 3 Sisters Bar & Restaurant next door. I was told breakfast was included but then when I checked out it was not. Edinburgh is very hilly, so while this place is only one block from the Royal Mile, it is down a major hill/stairs and on the opposite side of the royal mile from Public Transportation, so walking with luggage was a task. Once you are settled it was no big deal. The street it is located on looks a little sketchy. I have no knowledge of whether or not it is, but the area does not seem as nice as other parts nearby. As an adult male, I felt comfortable but don't think I would let my daughter walk home at night by herself. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Instalaciones nuevas, moderno. Lindo lugar, camas super comodas, ubicacion centrica, cerca de la estacion. El personal super amable y servicial, nos permitieron guardar los bolsos después de hacer el check out.

Abajo hay un bar y se escuchan ruidos de noche todo el tiempo. Tambien escuchamos muchos ruidos de la habitacion contigua.

The location is what attracted me to the hotel

I stayed there two nights. The first night I was woken by plumbing, ie persons in the room above me were using the toilet but it sounded like they were in my room. The second night I had a similar experience. I was woken by the sound of footsteps in my room. In fact, it was someone walking around the room above me. In this instance, I woke in fright and it took a few minutes for my heart rate to subside.

המיקום היה מעולה. עם זאת, לא ידענו שמתחת למלון יש פאב בחצר הפעיל עד שעות הלילה הקטנת וממנו בוקעים קולות מוזיקה ושירה חזקה. הדבר מאוד הפריע לנו לישון. בדיעבד לא הייתי מזמינה למקום זה למרות המיקום הנהדר והצוות המקסים. מתאים לצעירים בלבד לדעתי.

מן הראוי היה לעדכן מראש שמתחת למלון יש פאב פעיל בחצר ושיש רעש חזק עד השעות הקטנות של הלילה.

Hotel was difficult to find. The staff at the hotel might want to take note of that. We spent about an hour trying to find it. Unless you know Edinburgh's street layout you can get lost in the maze of back alleys.

Die Unterkunft hat eher einen lebhaften Hostel-Charakter und eignet sich vermutlich gut für Gäste, die das Nachtleben in Edinburgh genießen möchten. Das Personal war teilweise sehr freundlich und bemüht. Das Zimmer entsprach hinsichtlich der Größe der Beschreibung.

Für uns war die Unterkunft insgesamt leider recht laut. Durch den direkt angrenzenden Club war bis spät in die Nacht sehr laute Musik zu hören, wodurch der Schlafkomfort deutlich beeinträchtigt wurde. Zudem war die Lage unseres Zimmers ungünstig (Zimmer 209) da sich direkt vor dem Fenster ein Parkplatz befand. Auch Sauberkeit und allgemeiner Zustand der Unterkunft hätten aus unserer Sicht an einigen Stellen sorgfältiger beziehungsweise gepflegter sein können. Der Service wirkte zudem je nach Mitarbeiter unterschiedlich engagiert.

Zimmer wurde als kleines Zimmer angegeben. War dann aber ein großzügiges Zimmer mit sehr viel Platz.

Laute Musik war weit bis nach Mitternacht zu hören.

The rooms are very small.

Great location! Super close to popular streets, shops, and restaurants. Also very close to Waverley station.

The hot water wasn’t really working. We didn’t love the “double bed” being two singles pushed together. The beds would slide apart and create a big crevice. Our room on our last night also REEKED of cigarettes. We didn’t have any windows open but we must’ve been above the smoking area. The noise from the bar didn’t bother us. I unfortunately had bad knees during this trip and was told that the elevator wasn’t working, so we had to take the stairs for our floor 3 room. I didn’t raise this at the time and understand it’s not their fault, but it was a bit disappointing.

The location was great

I like to strip the beds for the housekeepers but the bedding was filthy and stained so I then could not bare look at the mattress.

We got there on Friday night and there was loud music next door. I was fine with it but kids and seniors had trouble getting to sleep.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL unless you plan to be awake until at least 3AM. We got “upgraded” to room 212 and were moved to a louder part of the hotel right above The Three Sisters bar.
