Good value for money for the hotel
The breakfast was not good, we went down at around 20 past 8 on a Friday morning to find people waiting for hot food. There was nothing left. There were no yogurts and no pastries left Definitely not worth the extra £10pp we paid
Gym facilities are great, gutted I didn't use spa as was busy but will next time. Arrived to check in with nights team as a loan woman, they were busy with a busy bar and checking in a group of men (they immediately supported me for a swift check in, upgraded me and genuinely read the room and were a grewt bubbly energy towards us all in the correct mannerism) I manage a hotel and so it was great to see such a fab night's team looking after your property at night! Lady on sunday morning was also a delight! Top work team 👏🏻
It was only the noise, I assume from the tin building with rain next door - and I was lucky enough to have a heavy footed person above me that kept getting up. But I also appriciate 'peace and quite isn't found in city vibrant hotels - il be back regardless as is a.perfect midway point for me and my partner to meet ! Thanks 👌🏼
Good location and clean fresh room
Arrived to our room to find it smelling of paint and the windows wide open, looked out of the window to see they been and still in the process of painting the outside roof directly out of my window, how they can put people in those rooms is a beyond me, 1 toilet roll to last the whole stay and only 1 full size towel between 2 of us , bathroom door had no latch in to shut it ….. too top the trip off was we went for breakfast the next morning at 8:30am and thought we would chill on our bed till check out but that was impossible as the roof paint workers turned up outside our window painting and were all shouting and swearing.. so we left, very annoyed and left the hotel fuming
The location was easy to get to from the M6. Staff in all departments were fab and the room was clean and very comfortable. The shower was amazing, I could have stayed in it all day 😂
Nothing to dislike
Jet washing the roof at 8.30 in the morning right outside our hotel room was not really a pleasant experience
Clean and tidy
Nothing
We had a function and stayed the night. Great team to assist our function room and the service throughout dinner, as well as the food, was amazing.
Price of drinks was quite high.
Good value for money comfortable
In one of the double double rooms, the shower smelled.
The room was dirty. They did not have adequate towels.
Clean, good facilities
Not easy to get hold of reception during the evening.
room spacious and clean, friendly staff
booked a club room and it’s the worst one i’ve stayed in, uncomfortable paper thin pillows, rooms like a maze to get to, up in lift down the stairs, not for anyone with mobility issues
It was just right and spacious enough. Location was good too
Nothing really
Excellent gym, swimming pool and sauna facilities
Loads of room order trays outside of our door and others doors around our room when we checked in. Asked twice for them to be cleaned during the day and the staff thought the best time to clean up was 1:30 in the morning which woke me up as the doors and walls were paper thin, which brings me to second point - generally noisy due to paper thin walls and also constantly hearing steps in the room above us - if you're staying in this hotel bring ear plugs! Breakfast exceptionaly busy and below average quality.
Every thing was fab food in resturant too
Room was wayyy to hot even though they provided us with a fan
Always choose village hotels as you know what to expect - great stay as always
Nothing
Spa and pool were lovely. Staff were very nice
Self service check in wasn't great. Not a fan of that. We found some boxer shorts in the bathroom that obviously wernt ours
Great wedding venue.
Decent for what we paid for.
Could have given two more bath towels we only had one. We were three in a family room.
Didn't have breakfast
Uncomfortable bed
Our stay was extremely disappointing. The room temperature was comparable to a sauna, and the small, underpowered fan provided did nothing to reduce the excessive heat. When we requested an additional fan at reception, we were assured one would be brought to our room. After 30 minutes, nothing arrived. When we returned to reception, the same staff member informed us that no additional fans were available — with no effort made to update us in the meantime. We then asked to speak to the manager. Unfortunately, he offered no meaningful solution and appeared completely disengaged. I suggested using a fan from a vacant room, only to be told the hotel was fully booked. A quick check online showed rooms were still available to book for that evening, which was frustrating and misleading. Breakfast was mediocre. Staff struggled to keep the buffet stocked, with basic items like bread running out, and yoghurts unavailable on one of the mornings when we arrived for breakfast. Overall, it’s safe to say we won’t be returning. There are other local hotels that value their customers and provide far better service for the same price.
The hotel itself is large and absolutely perfect for a weekend getaway. We had a spacious, large room with everything you could need, including an iron. It was clean, comfortable and very relaxing. We also enjoyed the swimming pool and sauna, which was a great way to unwind. The only downside is that taking photos or videos in the pool area is not allowed. When I recorded something, a member of staff immediately came over and asked me to delete it. I understand this rule is in place to protect other guests’ privacy, but I think taking a photo or video of yourself with your partner should be a little different. Another small downside is that there is no fridge in the room, which would have been very useful. Overall, we had a lovely stay and I would definitely come back again! ❤️
No fridge in the room and no Talking photo in swimming pool
Staff helpful Food good Room clean and tidy
Single bed too short and narrow for me - poor nights sleep. Lighting in bathroom poor - worst ever mirror/ lighting for shaving.
Good bar / restaurant
Dirty, missing towels, uncomfy beds
Convenient location
The hotel offers very good facilities and is comfy and clean .The staff are very good and always on hand to help.
Cant think of anything
If you are looking for a calm place to stay, don't come here. We arrived around 10pm to very loud noise coming from the sports bar. It was incredibly distracting when I was suddenly expected to do self check in. The machine asked a series of questions so fast that I missed the part when our room number was displayed. We finally got someone for help with the room number. Once in the room, I read something that said parking is chargeable but this was not mentioned in any of the many questions asked by the self check in terminal. A trek back down to reception to confirm. We arrived when it was around 18c outside but the room was considerably warmer. The windows opened an inch, frankly pointless. The fan was immediately switched on and I was met with an explosion of dust! So my first task in the room was to clean the fan! The wifi kept cutting off every 10min or so. This hotel has challenged everything I expected in a hotel. I expected this from an Airbnb, not a hotel.
Don't visit during a heat wave, no air con and stifling hot in the rooms. Only 1 towel between 2 people and given 2 small hand towels as a replacement. Breakfast is poor
Great thanks to kellon today he was loads of help with the menu and was really kind and welcoming i had a lovely meal with my family
Great location Great facilities Staff fantastic
No air con- when asked for fan as the rooms were so warm there were none.
Comfortable beds, great facilities for food and drink on-site, clean, spacious, very modern.
A little out of the way if you don't have a car.
Convenient location for attending a rugby tournament at the university
No air con in the rooms, 1 small fan provided,
The beds were comfy
No breakfast available when we went down at 9.45, told the manager had gone to the shop to buy more food. Breakfast replenished at 10.30, sat there for 45 minutes waiting then had to rush to eat as checkout was 11?
Food, location, staff were all brilliant Room was spacious with provided iron, hairdryer and toiletries
The only downside was how hot the room was with no internal AC system. There was a fan in the room but during the 30°c weather it didn't do much.
Location was great for an event at Warwick University
Extremely hot in bedrooms. Only one towel provided No servicing of room throughout our 3 day stay
Clean hotel room had everything that you needed
Paid for bed and breakfast had an early start which meant we needed to be out of the hotel by half seven however breakfast didn’t start until either half seven or eight depending on the day which seems late for a hotel
Perfect for what we needed.
Only one small fan for two twin beds.
Great gym
No AC
The reception, bar, restaurant etc were as one would expect.
I have stayed in a number of Village Hotels but this place was not up to the companies usual standards. The accommodation section and rooms need renovating and are not what one would expect at a Village Hotel. I booked during the height of the last heat wave expecting there to be air conditioning (I should have checked) but was met with a little fan on the desk. The room was sweltering and for the price of the room, one really expects more.
We’ve just returned from a couple of nights here as a family of four and, overall, we really enjoyed the hotel. It’s lovely, the staff were fantastic, and the bar/restaurant staff in particular were wonderful with our two children. One lady made such a fuss of them on both evenings we dined there, which was such a lovely touch. Unfortunately, the heat in the bedrooms really let the stay down. We knew there was no air conditioning and expected the rooms to be warm, especially as it was summer, but the temperature was far beyond what we expected. The room was considerably hotter than anywhere else in the hotel and even hotter than our rooms at home, which also don’t have air conditioning. It was genuinely unbearable, and all four of us only managed a couple of hours’ sleep on both nights when it finally cooled slightly in the early morning. We asked for an extra fan at around 2am and again the following day, but unfortunately there weren’t any available. It’s such a shame because everything else was lovely and we all enjoyed the hotel. However, when you’re staying away as a family, getting so little sleep has a huge impact on the experience, and sadly it’s enough to make us think twice about returning. Hopefully this is something the hotel can address, because otherwise we would have had nothing but positive things to say about our stay.
Visited on Friday and the stuff members were so friendly experience the receptionist nana he made sure l was booked in correct and made sure my stay was comfortable as possible
Clean Staff helpful Liked seeing people using the gym gave it a community feel
Fact we had to pay for parking after already paying for the room. Unfortunately for me bed not comfortable noted had mattress topper . Feel this needs to be looked at.
Location
It seems that the room was not vacuum cleaned properly. There were fluffy pieces that were on the carpets . The room was facing the car park and noisy until late at night. It seems that air conditioning goes off at about 11pm and the room gets quite hot and by opening the window you get noise from the carpark. There was a fan in the room provided. We used the fan . With the continuous noise from the fan ,it was difficult to sleep.
Location
Facilities in the room were inadequate so had to move rooms. General maintenance overall not great. Spoke with management who authorised partial refund.
The room was spacious and the breakfast was pleasant.
The room was very hot there was no air conditioned in my room . Only one fan was provided for us . We couldn't sleep because it was very hot that day. I was really disappointed
In a hidden away room with no light looking out at a bush
I had a long-term stay at this hotel while working away from home, and I can't thank Nana enough for making it so much more comfortable by ensuring I got the same room!
Hotel was clean and staff were friendly
Lift wasn't working but staff were helpful and allowed us to use the staff lifts
It was ok
The smell of new carpets
Very clean and enjoyable for the stay.
It was during half term so very busy.
The swimming pool, restaurant and function room
The lack of air conditioning- unbearable
Nice and clean
Room is small and no air conditioner
The staff at the counter was super helpful and was willing to go above and beyond to help customers even though he did not have enough resourced to do so.
the facility was very poor - firstly the lifts were not working which makes it so difficult to carry the bags to rooms on higher floors. There was no airconditioned rooms at all in the hotel - which a would have been great in such hot summer days. (even if we had to pay a little extra) The rooms did not have any drinking water available. - another must have items for hot summer days.
Location
sports bar vibe
Nice location, clean room, organised well
Washroom door lock did not work, no air conditionet, only one small fan provided
I liked the gym and spa facilities
Slight mix-up with the booking, sink in the room was blocked, maintenance arrived on the day we were checking out.
Location , sports bar
Someone drilling at 6.40 am !!!
Helpful staff Bathroom lovely
Parking extra to room price No Air conditioning
Had a great stay at Village Hotel in Coventry. We were staying as a result of a competition win with 7 other family members and the staff were extremely nice, polite and helpful. Daniel (the manager I think) was constantly making sure we were all ok and looked after us like royalty. Food and service was top too. In the morning I'd found a small mystery charge on my CC but I spoke to Michael (also a manager I think) and I have every faith he'll get it sorted. Thank you for a great stay and if we're back in Coventry needing a bed for the night I'm sure we'll stay here.
Nothing really
There was no ac in the room it was very very hot and found it very hard to get a good nights rest also the beddings was dirty i have taken pictures of that also
We booked the Village Hotel Coventry for our wedding night, expecting it to be a memorable start to our married life. Before our stay, I contacted the hotel through Booking.com explaining that it was our honeymoon night and politely asked whether they could make it as romantic as possible or offer any upgrades or enhancements. Unfortunately, none of our requests were acknowledged. On arrival we were simply handed the key to the standard King Room we had booked. The room contained no welcome card, no complimentary gesture, no decorations, and there was only a room service menu on the bed. There were also insufficient towels for two guests. It felt like no effort had been made to recognise what was a once in a lifetime occasion.
The hotel completely ignored the special request made in advance for our wedding night. I appreciate that special requests cannot always be guaranteed, but even a simple congratulations card, towel arrangement, complimentary drink or acknowledgement at check-in would have shown some thought. Instead, our request appeared to have been overlooked entirely, which was very disappointing.
Unfortunately there is no air conditioning in the bedrooms which was pretty unexpected for a modern building. I visited in the middle of a heat wave so obviously the room was too hot and I had to check out early. Breakfast was quite disappointing. I came down at 8.40 and a lot things had not been refilled. The scrambled eggs appeared to be rehydrated rather than made from fresh eggs. The staff can be quite surly and unfriendly. Basic manners such as smiling and saying good morning when greeting guest were sometimes lacking. The gentleman at the bar kindly refilled my water bottle when I asked which I was grateful for.
Central location for our needs.
It was very hot in the room. Only a small fan was supplied which was not adequate. Also no children in the Spa after 5. My daughter was very disappointed as this was the main reason we booked with them.
Pool, sauna and steam room were great - this was the selling point that led me to book - and there is plenty of parking.
There was no air conditioning in the room. We simply could not sleep in the room - it was too hot (this was during the first heatwave) - so had to resort to booking an IHG hotel to spend the night a 30 minute drive away. We were told the wrong time for breakfast (think the staff member who checked us in forgot it was not a weekend) so arrived (from our second hotel!) just as breakfast was finishing. A staff member very grudgingly let us grab some cereal before continuing to clear up (in an appalling display of customer service!). The bar area was disappointing in terms of lack of comfort and not feeling special (though it did have air conditioning!) We did not stay the second night that we’d booked. Went home instead as it was the better option .
Clean, spacious, use of hair dryer and iron
Lack of air conditioning. Although a small fan was provided, it didn’t help much with the heat.
Rooms where great. Very spacious, clean, bed was very comfortable. Food served at the restaurant/ bar was great.
Didn’t have Breakfast in hotel due to just wanting a continently style and thought £17.50 is was expensive for that. Surprised a continently option wasn’t on offer ( would have been happy paying £10 ) considering the Health aspect of the hotel. Could have do with a fridge in the room to keep drinks etc cool throughout my stay.
Easy arrival, comfortable room, easy transport and parking
Overly air conditioned. Freezing in the bar area despite it being a warm day.
We stayed on the second floor. Lovely room, beds were comfortable and room was clean but it was extremely hot and had no aircon. We all sleep on top of the beds with the window open but it was still unbearably hot! Breakfast was good and staff were friendly, approachable and helpful.
No aircon in room
One of the best gym facilities I think I’ve ever come across
Lighting could have been a bit better in the rooms and a safe would be good.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but our stay at Village Hotel Coventry was extremely disappointing from start to finish. The first surprise was that guests are charged £7.50 per day for parking and £5 per day to use the gym. I have stayed at many hotels where these facilities are included for paying guests, so this was unexpected. During our stay there was an extreme heatwave. For the first week, we were unable to open our room window because scaffolding outside the hotel was blocking it. The room became extremely hot and uncomfortable. I asked reception for a fan but was told they had none available, so I had to go out and buy my own. I also requested additional coat hangers and was told they did not know if any were available. No one followed up. The room service experience was also very disappointing. The information in the room stated that room service delivery was free, but there was no clear ordering code or instructions. I had to go to the bar to place the order. On the first evening, I arrived at approximately 9:15 pm, despite the advertised last food order time being 9:30 pm, and was told the kitchen was already closed. We tried again the following evening and were then told there was a £3.50 room service surcharge. One of the items we paid for was missing from the order, and when I reported it, I was told the kitchen was closed and nothing could be done. Due to the overall experience, we decided to leave early and move to another hotel. At reception, I was told that the unused nights could not be refunded. They also said they would look into refunding the gym and parking charges, but those refunds have not been processed. Overall, this stay fell far below expectations. The lack of clear communication, unexpected additional charges, poor service, and lack of resolution made this a very frustrating experience. We will not be staying at Village Hotel Coventry again.
Great atmosphere and facilities, room was good and spacious.
Nothing I can think of.
It was very central to the centre of Coventry. Easy parking.
It wasn't that we disliked the outside. At the moment the front of the hotel is covered with scaffolding. This may not be to everyone's taste especially when sitting outside with drinks etc
It was good, there were options to
It was clean
It was way too warm, no air conditioning and the fan is not adequate.
Room was modern
I suffer with really bad anxiety and haven't stayed anywhere for a long time. On arrival the member of staff on the desk looked very miserable, I was then told I had to pay for parking, this is on top of what I paid for the room. It was extremely warm in the room with little air flow as windows would not open, anxiety then went through the roof. It was so hot with such a small fan. Internet was awful. I could understand if the room was cheap but to pay a fair amount then have all these issues. Also there was 2 people in the room and was given one towel. It has really put me off returning. I was quite upset about it really, I needed this break as I lost my dad and was hoping for an escape but I was let down on this occasion.
The room was nice and large and the bathroom was good and roomy with a very good shower
The room was hot and although there was a fan in there it was difficult to.control the temperature
Big car park, easy check in, great value
Wasn’t sure how to access pool etc
No air conditioning in the rooms
Lovely gym and pool and jacuzzi
The club room was a far walk and the lift was out of order
Staff were lovely, bar was excellent. Great location.
No air conditioning during a heatwave was poor. Spa area was busy.
Had to pay for the car park which I thought was free as staying there !! No air conditioning in the rooms so very uncomfortable nights sleep!!
Had a nightmare scenario where a leak in our new build house left us no choice but to move out for a week until everything damaged was fixed. First and foremost Olivia, the receptionist absolutely fantastic. She was sympathetic, understanding and extremely helpful in our requests for a room for a week with next to no notice. Kellon on the bar, also incredibly welcoming, very friendly and looked after myself and my partner really well making our stay as best as it could be given the circumstances. The team are doing a really good job and we were very grateful 👏
Great location for visiting Warwick Uni.
The room was utterly boiling! Whilst we did stay during the recent heatwave, we were shocked by how hot our room was. The windows wouldn’t open much and whilst there was a fan in the room, the heat was so bad we couldn’t sleep at all. We had food in the restaurant a whilst my son’s meat burger was great - the veggie burger was, without doubt, the worst I’ve ever had! It was a pile of bland rice in a burger - yes - rice in a burger - not bound and in a patty - literally just a spoonful of rice. It was truly DREADFUL! A real shame as the bar is decent and the meat meals looked fine but they definitely need to up their vegetarian options.
Clean, easy to get to, good location, good breakfast
Parking not included
Facilities were great
Noise outside
You know what your getting, being able to use gym & pool facilities was great.
No air conditioning but at least a fan.
The receptionist was excellent trying to resolve the issue.
We arrived and checked in and went up to our room. On the way up to the room and temperature increased significantly in the corridors. Upon entering the room the temperature and stuffiness (windows closed) was ridiculous. It was simply impossible to be in the room and actually dangerous - especially as I have epilepsy. We returned to reception and had to change our twin room for a double room which was also very hot (slightly less so as it was one floor lower). Questions: - why is the no plan for higher temperatures for your hotel ? - why is there no air conditioning for when we have air temperatures in the mid 30's ? - why are all hotel room windows unable to be opened ? - why was I not communicated about the above situation ? - there was no plan in place from the hotel. Considering the fact I am epileptic it is simply unacceptable that no one in senior management thought about having any kind of plan for high temperatures to ensure the safety of their customers. It was too late to move to another hotel. I was put in an impossible situation. I will never stay in one of your hotels again. And no one cared.
Gym and Starbucks and close to Warwick University which was reason for visit
It was 33 degrees heat on top floor with scaffolding outside meaning you cannot open any windows and there is no ventilation or air conditioning. Instead we have been given one small very noisy fan that is blowing warm air around. I am not bothered that there is no air conditioning it is the fact you can’t open the windows so there is zero relief from heat at night. It is at least 10 decrees cooler outside right now than this room. I have been to reception and tried to move rooms but have been told that there’s nothing available on a lower floor or with windows that open. I have done a 4 hr drive for a university open day tomorrow and have to do a 4 hrs drive back on what will be a very very restless night. They can only offer a cancellation of room and refund to find somewhere else at 8.30pm at night is not good enough. They should have emailed or called to pre-warn about scaffolding outside meaning windows cannot be opened. If I had known this in such hot weather I would have cancelled and found somewhere else.
Breakfast is fine but I prefer something from Costa Coffee.
Very good overall
Rooms were fresh, spacious, clean, modern and had all the facilities required for our stay. Check in was easy too. Breakfast was tasty.
I wish it had air con! During the heat wave it was super hot and one fan alongside opening the windows a tiny bit wasn’t really enough! If it did have air con, it would be a 10/10 easy.
I think it was good value for money and the pool and facilities were a great perk to have included
The fact the room didn’t have air con just a fan and it was In the middle of a heat wave
Clean
No air con
It was reasonable
No air conditioning
Good location, nice bar restaurant and there is swimming pool. Air conditioning ground floor. Unfortunately that was the only area with air conditioning. When I received a phone call from Village hotel confirming my booking, I query about air conditioning for my room and was told there are air conditioning. I was disappointed to find the air conditioning was a small table top fan.
No air conditioning in very hot weather. The small table top fan is not sufficient for the hot days and nights, when there’s little air flow through the small window openings. We cannot sleep in the heat. There is no air flowing in the corridor leading our room. It was like a sauna.
The breakfast was very good the staff catered well for my gluten allergy and were very kind. I found afterwards that I had been charged £30 instead of £25 for tboth the breakfasts which was not the agreed price.
ThatI was over charged for breakfast. Ty gf e bed was lumpy and pillows hard. I found the noisy bar at the entrance an unwelcome first impression.
Modern, clean, well equipped room, friendly reception staff
Beds were hot - lying on quilt and heavy quilt
Good location. Friendly staff.
Easy to check in and convenient parking
Very hot in the rooms, no A/C and restrictors on windows.
