Die Wegweisung zum Hotel war das Beste!
Das Personal am Empfang war nicht professionell So konnten die einfachsten Fragen zum Nationslpark Algoquin nicht beantwortet werden! Es heisst einfach Check St their Website!
Very nice location, 3 outdoor pools and one indoor pool. Big room, very clean. They have a nice beach as well where you can take kayaks, paddle boats or stand up paddle boat for free.
There is nothing to do in evening time- no entertainments. You need to spend your time watching TV. If this place is called "resort" there should be some evening activities. This resort is more family resort, for people with kids who sleep after 8pm. Restaurants are expensive, but you do not have a choice because there is no microwave in the room and there is a smallest fridge I have ever seen in hotels, type of bar-cooler. There is a nice beach where you can take paddle boats, kayaks for free, but if you want a pedal boat you need to pay 30$CA. I did not see anybody rented pedal boats wising the days we stayed there Maybe they need to reduce the price? The resort area is very poorly lit. We were returning from the main building around 11 p.m., and it was difficult to find the way to our building; it’s a good thing that a shuttle caught up with us and took us where we needed to go.
Amazing views to the lake
The architectural design of the resort and the location
The bayshore building is an old one and doesn't match the other buildings
All Amenities are available and its great Family oriented Resort
In the rooms there were no water or welcome drinks Any special sport such as rock climbing or Rackets you have to rent Breakfast also mainly is not included with your stay
Great food on site. Options for pool, indoor and outdoor. Lake swimming.
Crowded pools. Lol. Last weekend of summer.
Friendly check in. Nice Muskoka location.
Rooms were dated and a bit run down especially the bathroom. Some common areas seemed a bit grubby. Not easy to find the pools and they were very crowded.
Nice quiet location. Plenty of amenities and things to do with kids. Beach was nice as was indoor pool.
The rooms were dated, tired-looking. Felt like I was staying at a Holiday Inn but paying the price of the Ritz-Carlton. I wouldn’t say overall for the price it was good value.
Beautiful place and facilities vut extremely dated and dirty. Lots of bugs and spiders in the room. Sheets were very old.
Service was ok. Food is expensive and the indoor activities for kids 4 and under are very limited given the size of the resort. Arcade and treehouse very small
Beautiful property, rooms and facilities extremely beautiful and very well maintained. Lots to do for the kids
Add some more kid friendly activities during the day. Like volleyball, or some challenges.
Location
Huge line to the restaurants, noisy air conditioning in the room
We just came back from our trip to Deerhurst a few days ago. It was a great time!! Amenities were on point, location was beautiful and service was perfect. Few minor hiccups with towels, mini fridge and sport equipment but nothing that could say ruined our trip. We made lots of new memories in a beautiful place. The backdrop was the most breathtaking views I have ever seen!! Beautiful 😍
This place is a total dump - we arrived and the pillow on the bed was visibly soiled. The next morning the toilet plugged from normal use and its been an hour later and we are still waiting for it to get fixed. Avoid this place. Its too bad - I heard it used to be a great but it has totally fallen into disrepair
staff was late in unlocking kayaks for use. access to kayaks, canoes was to be at 9am but didnt show up till 9:15 am.
First night we got a room with a broken AC unit but the manager on duty switched us to an upgraded room for the second night.
Best family trip with our three little kids!!! True quality, and you get a great value in terms of included experiences, efficient shuttle, and complimentary parking. Also, the kids 4 and under eat for $5 at drift restaurant. One tip would be to bring your own coffee travel mugs, and a case of water for your trip! We loved it!!!
The value of the stay is way too expensive. There is no service. Was there with family and friends. Was not satisfied. The beds were uncomfortable.
The lake is clean and a lot of on the lake activities. Perfect for golfing, beautiful scenery.
The bed is too soft, and pillow is too thick.
리조트안에서 모든걸헤결할수 있어서 좋았고 주변풍경이 멋졌음
We went to Deerhurst for the location. It had everything we needed for our stay. I liked the spacious room and the balcony overlooking the water.
Excellent location. Lovely staff. Lots to do. Nice coffee shop. Nice pools.
Rooms are okay but they need to be updated. Balconies need paint. Most of all, in our current climate we need to be environmentally responsible. The toilets in the rooms are old and they have one big tank. Every time you flush, a tremendous amount of water is wasted. Please plan for new toilets with two flush options!!
We spent 3 nights as a family at Lakeside Lodge. Not only was the room absolutely beautiful but the full kitchen meant we could cook our own meals which is both economical and far easier with young kids. Check in was easy, the staff member who greeted us was incredibly friendly. Unfortunately our room wasn't ready when we arrived but you are able to access the amenities while you wait which is a nice service. The room was conveniently located near the lake with quick and easy access to the kayaks and beach. This specific property also included a beautiful outdoor pool, tons of parking and many nice walking spots. We couldn't believe how much there is to do at the resort for families and how clean the property was. The only complaints we had are very small - we wish there was some sort of additional food option on site, particularly scooped ice cream. Specific to our room, the king bed was gigantic in a smaller sized bedroom which didn't leave a ton of room to navigate and led to a few knee bumps. Overall, our family immensely enjoyed our time at Deerhurst Resort and we anxiously await our next vacation there. Thanks for the great trip!
Coming to Deerhurst over forty years. As always a great and fun experience for all the family. Staff continue to make everyone feel welcomed and are quick to respond to requests. The resort's location, close to Huntsville and near to Algonquin Park is ideal for shopping and day nature trips into beautiful natural Muskoka settings.
I’m loyal customer to deerhurst but this time front desk they not a professional and have attitude?! If they not happy at work it’s not my fault I’m driving 3:30 hours to go vacation with my family and first thing I see non professional people. Sanaia and one guy you’re in wrong place.
Resort offered good dining and a great selection of activities for the whole family. Located in a beautiful lake and was a fun few days. That said- Shocked at the state of our room, it was clean and beds were comfy but other than that, for the price, we were extremely disappointed. We couldn’t believe the fact that they haven’t been renovated since what looks like the 90s and truly felt like we were in some old deteriorated lodge. Everything from the old appliances to the bathroom, windows, carpeting, deck, the furniture- it was so old and in bad shape. Creaky. Rusting. Absolutely no luxury at all. From the pictures this was a far cry from what we expected. Really we were not happy with our 3 bed room condo , was not the kind of rustic we were looking for at all when paying over $1000 a night! Didn’t make us want to come back to our room other than to sleep. I would not rerun again unless guaranteed a better room or knowing the resort has done some major renovations.
Visited with my granddaughter on July 30 2026. This is an overpriced hotel. We stayed only one night. We were located in the Pavilion for our room. This is the area where there are amenities and 4 area for food. our room was clean but needed remodelling it smelled of old dirty running shoes. We went to 2 of the restaurants and in both service was poor. Waited 15 minutes + at every sage of the service, getting a menu receiving water which never came after we asked, taking our order and receiving the food as well as the bill. On the patio ordered drinks after again waiting 20 min for the waitress to come which we had to Flagg down, she brought the wrong drinks saying they could not make our preferred drink and offered us a small rebate if we drank the awful drink they had decided to serve us without asking if we would prefer another drink since they could not make what we had ordered. We had to Flagg down a golf kart as we walked the site looking for pool because everything is so far and we did not know how to get back to our Pavillion. no real info had been given at concierge desk other than where the restaurants where or how to get around the resort. We decided to leave first thing in the morning. 2 hours before check out time a cleaner was banging on our door and left. after 15 min we received a call from front desk asking why we had checked out and were still in room. We had not checked out and were still sleeping when awoken by the banging. As we then left they asked if we enjoyed our stay , I responded we did not really enjoy it and all they said was you will get your receipt by e-mail. I sent them an e-mail to which they said they would investigate and I never heard from them again!!!! My suggestion to anyone wanting to book this site do not you will regret it!!!!!
So I come every year with my kids and I'll continue to but it's expensive for what you get. Bayshore rooms are a bit more outdated but cannot beat location . Main building is good if you want everything at your fingertips. Over the years, the food options have gotten very expensive and subpar. I do Dinners only and I go into Huntsville one night fyi but still. The carpets especially in the indoor pools changing room need to go ASAP. The grossness and smell!. For what the resort charges, updates should be done and honestly charging the price for food is crazy.
Went with family had a great time. Good resort with great view. Lots of facilities to use, some events to attend, and places to chill and relax.
Our experience at deerhurst was terrible. From the moment we checked into our room we smelled a TERRIBLE odor. We immediately called the front desk and asked them to fix the smell or to change our room. They told us they had no other rooms available and that they would send someone to “fog” our room for the smell. We were there to attend a wedding so we had no other choice but to stay so we agreed to the “fog” and for it to be completed while we were out of the room for several hours for the wedding. We do not believe the “fog” ever happened because the room smelled the exact same when we returned to the room many hours later. If we were not there to attend a wedding we would have left and never stayed because it was that bad. We could not sleep all night and by the next morning we had very sore throats from breathing in whatever is causing that odor. On top of the odor, the bedding and pillows reeked of bleach. At checkout I kindly informed the staff of our poor experience and they did absolutely nothing to try and redeem the resort. Some sort of compensation should have been given for this awful experience. For the price point of the room (over $500 per night) we expected to be able to breathe in the room. Very disappointing experience and we will definitely never be back. We frequent that area of Muskoka often and know many people who are always looking for accommodations in the area and we will be spreading the word of our negative experience.
We chose Deerhurst Resort as the final stop on our first trip to Canada, and it proved to be a fantastic way to finish what had been an amazing two weeks. Having read some of the reviews mentioning check-in issues and the resort showing its age, we arrived with a few reservations. However, our experience was completely different. Check-in was seamless. There was a short wait, but nothing unreasonable and, given the size of the resort, something we fully expected. I had also been in regular communication with the reservations team in the run-up to our stay, and they were superb throughout. Friendly, helpful and responsive, exactly what you want when organising a family holiday. Our Bayshore room was spacious and worked very well for our family of four. The only minor gripe would be that we didn't see much of the housekeeping team during our stay, although perhaps the frequency of visits is something that is outlined in the small print. There is a huge amount to do at Deerhurst, with plenty of activities and facilities to keep everyone occupied. The staff were faultless throughout our stay friendly, welcoming and clearly a real credit to both the resort and the wider chain. The only real negative for us was the lengthy wait for food at the pub on each of the evenings we ate there. That said, it certainly didn't detract from the overall experience. Deerhurst was a memorable ending to our first two weeks in Canada. We genuinely cannot fault the resort overall and would happily return. If you're considering staying here, don't be put off by some of the older reviews, our experience was excellent.
Fun activities for the family. Our pontoon boat captain was great.
Rooms were quite outdated. Towels only removed once by housekeeping, despite being requested. Had to have bed sheets changed upon arrival as they were not washed.
We had a wonderful stay at Deerhurst Resort while celebrating my in-laws’ 50th wedding anniversary. The staff truly went above and beyond to make our visit special, and we really appreciated their exceptional service. The food at the restaurants was delicious, and the new fitness facility was fantastic with great equipment. The resort has so much to offer and is a great destination for young families as well as golfers. Overall, we had a lovely time and would definitely recommend Deerhurst Resort to anyone looking for a relaxing Muskoka getaway!
Beautiful location, swanky main building. Average food. We stayed in a two bed suite in The Greens booked by our travel agent as the final stop on a road trip. What a disappointment for a four star resort. It was giving old peoples home vibes. One shower was broken. It appeared like it hadn't been decorated since it was built. These suites aren't serviced either. Only positive was it had laundry facilities. Would not recommend

I have fond childhood memories of Deerhurst Resort, but our recent stay was extremely disappointing from start to finish. The problems began at check-in, where we received little information about finding our cottage. We later waited a long time for the shuttle, were dropped at the wrong location, and arrived at the outdoor pool to find no towels available. When we asked if room towels could be used, the staff refused in a dismissive manner. My 72-year-old mother had to walk back to the cottage to get towels while I remained behind because I had recently undergone knee surgery. Dinner at the Grill was equally disappointing. We were refused a table on the terrace because of a possible chance of rain, despite beautiful weather all evening. The restaurant was crowded, our children waited nearly an hour for their meals, appetizers arrived only after we reminded our server, and the food was overpriced for the quality. Breakfast the next morning was worse. I had to set our own table, and shortly afterward my youngest daughter became violently ill after drinking milk from the cereal station, vomiting seven times. While I cannot say with certainty what caused her illness, the timing was alarming. Laura was wonderful and took great care of us, but the cleanup of the terrace and bathroom was slow. The resort's transportation remained unreliable, and we eventually gave up waiting for the shuttle and drove ourselves. Our cottage was spacious but outdated, with worn carpet, rotting wood, dirty dishes left in the dishwasher, a dryer that barely worked, and no housekeeping during our stay. The one highlight was Ruben and Monique, whose outstanding service, recommendations, and hospitality showed what Deerhurst could be. Overall, Deerhurst is expensive for what it offers. The facilities are aging, the service is inconsistent, and the resort handles problems poorly. Although we appreciated the $100 goodwill refund, it did not come close to compensating for the many inconveniences we experienced. Sadly, we will not be returning.
We stayed at Deerhurst Resort from July 18–22, 2026, with our two 3 yo children and friends. We paid $1,850 for four nights in a Bayshore two-queen room, including the resort fee, taxes and other fees, but not breakfast. Overall, we had a reasonably enjoyable stay, and there are definitely some positives: the setting on Lake Peninsula, the beach, pools, water activities, comfortable beds. However, at this price point, we expected a higher standard of accommodation and a more polished family resort experience. I would rate our stay 3/5 and would recommend researching the individual accommodation buildings carefully before booking. Booking and check-in The check-in process was straightforward. We arrived shortly before 4 p.m. and were checked in quickly in the main parking area before driving to our accommodation. We did have an issue with our room assignment. We booked a Bayshore walkout room, and our confirmation described it as a walkout. When we arrived, we were assigned a second-floor room that was not a walkout. When we called the front desk, we were told that the walkout designation was a preference rather than a guarantee, although this was not clear from our booking confirmation. Interaction left us angry and frustrated, when we were told to read the fine print. We spoke with the front desk in person, and they were much more helpful. They confirmed that there were no walkout rooms available that night and offered a 20% discount for the first night, with the option to move to a walkout room the following day . We ultimately decided not to move, as we were travelling with two toddlers and were only staying four nights, and received a 10% discount for the remainder of our stay. We appreciated that the resort made an effort to compensate us. It would also be helpful to receive an email with a clear breakdown of the full booking cost at the time of booking and a notification when the final balance is charged (week before). Room and accommodation The Bayshore building is very close to the beach and water activities, which is convenient, but the trade-off is that it is a very high-traffic area, as well as oldest, modest dated building with no effort for update. There were constantly people walking past, recreational activities nearby, and significant noise throughout the day. There was also loud music played outside in the afternoon, which was not ideal with young children who still nap. The walkout rooms have very little privacy as a result. The room itself was dated and carpeted throughout except for the bathroom; which had materially adverse impact on my husband's allergy (we assume there may have been animals in the room prior). The beds were comfortable and the linens were clean, which were positives, although the beds seemed more like double beds than queens. The refrigerator was extremely small—more like a compact desktop fridge than a typical hotel mini-fridge—which made it difficult to store food and drinks for a family. There was no daily housekeeping during our four-night stay. With two small garbage bins and no obvious way to dispose of additional waste, this was inconvenient for a family travelling with young children. Coffee supplies were provided, but no bottled water was included. The room's location did provide excellent proximity to the beach and water activities, but given the traffic and noise, I personally would not choose the Bayshore walkout rooms again. Our friends stayed in a two-bedroom unit in Lakeside Lodge, and their accommodation was noticeably nicer, with better overall finishes and no carpeting. Based on our experience, I would strongly recommend comparing the different buildings before booking, as the quality appears to vary considerably. Pool and beach The beach area is pleasant, with lounge chairs and a nice lake setting. The sand area is relatively small and the lake water was cold, but our children still enjoyed playing at the beach. The resort offers canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards, which were enjoyable. However, availability was limited. The watercraft were available when they opened, but they were quickly taken, so there was very little availability later in the day. Paddle boats were also available, but at an additional cost of approximately $30 for 30 minutes and required a reservation. There are indoor and outdoor pools. The outdoor pool is not heated and was quite cool despite being in the sun. There is also a hot tub, although it was very hot and not particularly suitable for young children. We did not use the indoor pool ourselves, although our friends did and generally enjoyed it; they found the change-room area extremely cold. The pool towels were one area that could definitely be improved. They were very small, thin and heavily worn. With young children, we needed several towels just to dry them properly, and there were often no towels available at all. Activities The resort offers a range of activities, although we found some of the programming and paid activities less compelling given the cost. There are hiking trails, lawn games and activities such as foot golf, but the grounds are fairly spread out and there are limited clear pathways or signage connecting the various areas. We often found ourselves walking through parking areas or along roads to get from one building or activity to another. There is a resort shuttle, which is convenient, but we found it somewhat counterintuitive that guests sometimes need to drive or wait for a shuttle to get between resort facilities. For a family resort, we would have preferred a layout that was more naturally walkable. Some of the indoor activities, such as rock climbing, were approximately $30 for a short session, which seemed expensive for the duration. We also attended a children's craft activity that consisted primarily of a conference room with a few marked tables, craft supplies, and written instructions for a simple clothespin-and-popsicle-stick craft. There was limited instruction or interaction beyond the supplies being provided. There was also a foam activity on the lawn. Overall, we expected somewhat more engaging children's programming during the middle of July, which is presumably one of the resort's busiest family periods. Grounds and accessibility The grounds are reasonably well maintained and visually pleasant, but we found the resort surprisingly difficult to navigate on foot. There are not many clear sidewalks connecting the different buildings and amenities, and there is limited signage indicating the best routes. Guests often have to walk through parking areas, along roads or across uneven rocky areas. This was particularly challenging with young children and did not feel especially pedestrian-friendly for a family resort. Some of the internal roads also had significant potholes, and there were narrow sections where avoiding them was difficult. Food and dining The food quality was generally decent, but we found the prices quite high. We had the buffet at Driftwood Kitchen, which was $50 per adult. Children under four were $5, while children under 12 were $25. Drinks, including juice and milk, were extra. The food itself was reasonably good. The clam chowder, ribs and butternut squash ravioli were highlights, while the salmon was overcooked and the steak was inconsistent. The children's options were primarily fried foods and were less impressive. Our group was nine people, including three children under three, and an 18% gratuity was automatically added because we were a group of more than six. The total for our family of two adults and two children was approximately $170. We also ate at Maple Pub. The food was fine but nothing particularly memorable. Our family bill was approximately $150 for two adults and two children, with no appetizers and only one alcoholic beverage. The children's meals were around $25 each and included a small meal, fries, vegetables, dessert and a drink. At that price point, we expected somewhat better overall value. Overall We did enjoy parts of our stay. The lakefront setting is pleasant, the beach and pools provide good options for families, the watercraft are fun when available, and the beds were comfortable. The resort also made an effort to address our room issue with a discount, which we appreciated. However, the overall experience did not quite match our expectations for the price. Our approximately $1,850 total for four nights included a $40-per-night resort fee, taxes and other fees, but did not include breakfast. Food and several activities were also expensive, and some of the family amenities and infrastructure felt dated or underdeveloped for a large family resort. For a future visit, I would choose the accommodation building carefully and would consider Lakeside Lodge over Bayshore based on what we saw during our stay. Deerhurst has a lot of potential and a beautiful location, and we did have an enjoyable family trip overall. However, given the cost, we expected a more modern accommodation, better pedestrian access between resort facilities, stronger children's programming and better overall value. For those reasons, our experience was a solid but ultimately mixed 3/5.
Resort was ok- Beautiful scenery and friendly stuff. The room itself (in summit building) needs updating. Stains on carpet and chair, air conditioning issues in bedroom, tv reception in and out, and layout different than pictured on . Beds were uncomfortable.

This resort has so much potential. Beautiful grounds and well maintained gardens. The staff are very helpful and friendly. We ate dinner at the Maple Pub and it was very good. The nachos were 10+. The breakfast buffet was excellent as well. Gave it 3*'s because the rooms were very outdated. The carpeting....balcony ( paint is peeling) .....bathroom all need some major upkeep.
Everything was great. Beautiful view, lots of activities for kids (we barely saw any phones out). Good was good and priced well. Staff was terrific. Kids wanted to wake up early to go out in nature and come home late and a good tired with a huge smile. 5/5 rating.
All 3 restaurants had great vegan options, and were very accommodating of dietary restrictions in general. Awesome to have access to boats/canoes, waterfront and outdoor pools, as well as indoor pools and activities for days you need to stay inside. Great staff. Awesome experiences for little kids, teens and grown ups! Will definitely be back.
Amazing activities for the kids. Great value for the money. We found the room Stephen Harper stayed in during the G8 in 2010 too!
Everything was great. Would definitely come back! The room was really nice and clean. The beds were super comfy. All the staff were so nice.
Room was fine, bathroom tiny but with all essential we need.
Food prices. Kids menu (very limited options) for $25. $200 for a family of 4 at the buffet restaurant.
Accommodation for my dog, location,
Check in being at 4, this is difficult when you’re travelling with a dog and would like to leave your dog on the room and be able to use the pool and beaches. The carpet in our room felt damp. Big disappointment was the compass restaurant, the menu is very restricted and unimaginative. The resort should recognize there there are a lot more than just golfing guys going there and people who may appreciate more than Steaks that start at $160! The only fish dish on the menu was disappointing, it came with the tail and skin on it and had very little taste. The grilled peach salad Sounded good but was very bland, no flavour or dressing. Overall, for $270 for four of us (when we shared a salad and main and had one drink each, this was a huge let down
Our Son completed Muskoka Ironman in 2023 & 2026, and we stayed at Deerhurst. We had an amazing time. I highly recommend this resort if you are competing in upcoming races. It's close to town and very convenient.
Make sure you read your emails very carefully. I have never stayed in a resort before. I knew there was a resort fee but thought that was included in what they charged my VISA. No, I was charged an additional 300 after the fee for the resort fee. It does state this in the email in very small print. I guess that was on me Kayak, canoe, and SUP rentals were included in the resort fee but only until 6. Also, the per free beach had dogs on it and off leash, so pet rules are not enforced. Pets were roaming freely off leash at the hotel. I went with my two dogs, however they have leash anxiety so we need to keep our distance. Pets kept approaching the. People were smoking right out front when I was attempting to take my dog for a walk, but this was not in the approved smoking locations. The fridges in the room are small and only big enough to fit drinks. I have not had that experience in a hotel. The shower drain was a slow drain. The kid friendly events were not very kid friendly.
Best summer experience as always. Our favourite spot to visit every summer. Great location, everything you’d want in one spot for the whole family or friends and the great staff to help you get what you need. Can’t wait to go back!
Pros: Great location snd grounds, decent beach, nice accomodations and friendly staff. Cons: overpriced restaurants with low quality food; only 1 pool provides towels; no inclusive activities or trained staff, rooms are carpet tgat never feels clean; need to ask for everything extra if there are more than 2 people in the room (towels, blankets etc.)
My pregnant wife and 2 year old could not stay at the resort because no AC was able to be provided to our family in our room. They did not have another room with AC for us so we had to leave the resort early. Stayed 1/3 nights and received refund for the 2 nights we didn’t stay. The only enjoyable things about the resort was food options and friendly staff. Resort needs repairing all over and can’t handle many people using the AC.
Even If it rains or cold or summer, there’s something there that you can do
As Vegetarians, for food Options are very limited, As people growing as vegan and vegetarian they should add more options
Overall, my stay at Deerhurst Resort was just "okay." The property and the location are perfectly fine, but the experience was significantly overshadowed by some basic hospitality failures. The biggest issue was that the air conditioning in our room was completely broken. It made the room very uncomfortable to relax and sleep in. When we brought this up to the staff, they were not very helpful in resolving the issue. When you stay at a well-known resort, you expect a certain standard of customer service—whether that is a room change, a temporary fix, or at least a genuine apology—and we received none of that. It’s a decent place if everything goes right, but be warned that if something goes wrong with your room, you might be entirely on your own. I won't be rushing back.
We had a wonderful stay, and a big part of that was thanks to the exceptional guest services manager Karina. From the moment we arrived, she made us feel genuinely welcome and went above and beyond to ensure every detail of our stay was perfect. Her professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail truly stood out. It's rare to receive such outstanding hospitality, and her dedication made our experience even more memorable. Thank you for making our visit so enjoyable, we look forward to returning soon.
My stay at this resort was truly exceptional from beginning to end. The property was beautiful, well-maintained, and offered a relaxing atmosphere that made my visit unforgettable. The service was outstanding. Every staff member was welcoming, friendly, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality made me feel valued throughout my visit. The rooms were clean, spacious, and well-appointed, and all the resort facilities exceeded my expectations. It was clear that the team takes great pride in providing an excellent guest experience. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone at the resort for making my stay so memorable. I highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for outstanding service, comfort, and a wonderful vacation experience. I look forward to returning in the future.
**Disappointing stay — dated rooms, misleading room category, and poor service recovery** We booked a King Resort View room in the Pavilion at Deerhurst Resort expecting a relaxing family getaway and a proper resort experience. Unfortunately, the stay fell far below expectations and was very poor value for money. The room we received was dark, dated, and depressing. It felt more like a dungeon than a resort room, with only a small window to the outside, no balcony, no meaningful view, and no sense of being at a resort. Calling this a “resort view” room felt extremely misleading. The room itself also felt tired and badly in need of renovation. The finishes, layout, and overall condition did not match the price, the brand, or the expectations Deerhurst creates when you book. This was especially frustrating because we travelled from the city with our toddler specifically to be outside, relax, and enjoy the property. Once our child was sleeping, we were effectively stuck inside a dark, dated room with no outdoor space and no way to enjoy the resort atmosphere. That completely changed the quality of the trip. The service recovery was also disappointing. When we raised the issue, the front desk offered no meaningful solution, no proper alternative, and no real attempt to make things right. A small discount on the resort fees felt like a token gesture and did not come close to addressing the problem. Deerhurst has a strong reputation and charges like a premium resort, but this stay felt like the property is relying on its name and location rather than delivering a truly premium guest experience. The grounds may be nice, but the rooms and service response need serious improvement. Based on this experience, I would not recommend booking, unless Deerhurst is much more transparent about what guests are actually getting.
The property is beautifully maintained.
The room that we stayed in seems a little tired and in need of an update.
Lovely location but did not like the customer service when checking in. Also had a condo that needed improvements. The toilet was very small the shower was too powerful and could not be adjusted.
The beach and lake.
Staff was inexperienced at every restaurant, no sense of people's time. Front desk did not let us know when room was ready, while all other traveling parties received access hours before. Bayshore should be renovated. Clearly not up to standard compared to the rest of resort, especially for the rate. All around over priced for a mickey mouse operation.
Lots of amenities and lovely location!
The breakfast was not as good as hoped, food was chewy and over cooked.
The experience was horrible and definitely not value for money. I really regret spending 800 cad for 2 nights. Firstly, no one came to check in us st curbside parking, when we went to front desk we waited for 15 mins and staff said curb side staff is on break, so mo one will replace them? Hair dryer wasnt working, no complimentsry water bottles were provided in the room. Microwave was at main building which was 15 mins walk from bayshore. I had 2 yr old son and to heat up his food and milk i had a terrible pain. We called room service to make our bed they said if u stay more than 2 nights we change the bedsheet??? Hopeless service. The windows of the room had stains and died bugs on the outside . The instructions were not clear at all for the activities. The front desk staff jiya was good except that this was a horrible experience. The location is good for this resort which made us spend so much. But not at all worth the money. The storage in room was also not great. I will not recommend this to any one for sure. And i will be posting the review on your page too. The harassment i went through to heat up my sons gmfood was horrible plus it was raining. Its very obvious that one microwave should have been provided in the lobby of bayshore building. Terrible experience! Only one elevator in the building of bayshore was also another downside. We waited to do kayak for 30 mins after which they said they are closing wherein we could see so many pple kayaking . They said thunderstorms is expected but we could see 30 plle almost in the water. Hopeless place
Too big, too great an impact on the lake and surrounding cottages. A lot of activity on the lake with motorboats, jet skis, etc. I didn't stay but was on the grounds and dined at one of the restaurants.
We took a family vacation (2 grown-ups, 2 kids, ages 6 and 3) to Muskoka and stayed at Deerhurst for 5 nights. We absolutely loved the resort. There were tons of kid-friendly activities included with our reservation and our kids had an awesome time playing in the indoor pool and indoor playground. We stayed in a condo at The Greens, which was a perfect setup for our family. Our kids had their own bedroom and bath separate from us parents, and we had a full kitchen and living room/dining room space so plenty of room to hang out and relax on vacation. We will definitely be back!
My family and I stayed at Deerhurst Resort in a Bay Shore room with a balcony. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing, especially since we were travelling with a toddler. The first issue we encountered was the bed, which felt unbalanced on one side and made sleeping uncomfortable. However, the biggest disappointment was the condition of the balcony. The balcony appeared not to have been cleaned for a long time. There was visible dirt throughout the area, and numerous cobwebs were present around the balcony and door frame. In fact, the cobwebs were immediately noticeable as soon as we opened the balcony door, creating a very poor first impression and making the space feel neglected and unmaintained. When travelling with a toddler, cleanliness and safety are extremely important. We specifically booked a room with a balcony expecting a clean outdoor space where our family could relax and enjoy the surroundings. Instead, we were greeted by dirt, cobwebs, and a balcony that felt unusable. For a resort that markets itself as a premium family destination, this level of housekeeping and maintenance is unacceptable. Guests should not have to question whether basic cleaning has been completed before their arrival. Based on our experience, I would not recommend Deerhurst Resort to families travelling with toddlers. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, reviews its housekeeping standards, and ensures that future guests receive accommodations that meet the expectations associated with a resort of this reputation.
We were in Bayshore..and had a walk out to the lake and beach…very nice! The room was huge, 2 queen with private terrace…room very clean, no bugs. Price was comparable. Wifi did not work at all. Lake was beautiful, water clean and refreshing
Had a corporate meeting there and it was exceptional. All staff was attentive, professional and made my work life experience easy. I would love to go again for business and try it for pleasure as well.
What a wonderful spot! This resort is perched in a gorgeous setting, and has every amenity you could wish for. Great food and service at the Compass. Enjoyed our treatments at the spa. And a nice balcony off our spacious room to enjoy our morning coffee! Yes the decor in our room was a bit dated, but everything was clean and in good condition, and it didn’t detract at all from our overall enjoyment of this lovely resort!
I would say for conference facilities it is a decent resort but the guest accommodations fell short. When I arrived there was NO air con turned on in June. It was 29 degrees and stifling. It took the whole night to get the room to 26-still too hot to sleep. The sofa was worn and didn’t look particularly clean. The bed was very soft and slightly lumpy. The linens were poor quality and the beds still had a very heavy duvet…in June. All of the small electronics are the cheapest quality available-blow dryers, kettle etc. I tried to contact the front desk via phone for 3 hours , no answer. I left a clear voice message asking further s call back and didn’t receive one. I would not stay again. Do better Deerhurst your guests are more than a bunch of inebriated golfers who don’t care where they sleep!
A historic hotel in a beautiful setting. Unfortunately the property is run down and the service level is average at best. Not great at problem resolution. I will not go back or recommend.
We recently stayed at Deerhurst Resort and, unfortunately, found the overall experience to be underwhelming given the price point and reputation of the property. Our room felt dated, with a distinctly 1990s cottage aesthetic and fairly bare-bones amenities. While we understand that some guests may appreciate the rustic style, the accommodations felt in need of updating. Compounding this, the air conditioning in our room was ineffective, making our stay less comfortable than expected. Dining was a mixed experience. Breakfast was enjoyable and one of the highlights of our stay, with good quality food and a decent selection. However, dinner at the resort restaurant was disappointing. The food did not meet our expectations, especially considering the very high prices, and we left feeling that the value simply wasn’t there. Throughout our stay, both the service and facilities were adequate but not exceptional. The resort seemed to be operating in an “off-season” mode, with limited energy, atmosphere, and attention to detail. Staff were polite, but the overall guest experience felt somewhat lacklustre. While Deerhurst’s location and natural surroundings are beautiful, the accommodations, dining, and overall level of service did not justify the cost of our stay. We left feeling disappointed and unlikely to return without significant improvements
It’s a good place to connect to nature, lots of activities to do. Indoor and outdoor pools are fabulous. Staff is courteous and respectful and friendly. Ideal location. One should try driving north bay from here for awesome road trips and scenery.
Beautiful setting on the lake! Good to see that there are renos currently happening as the resort is looking a little tired in places but our room on the lake was lovely. The roads and parking lot closest to the food truck/water are in rough shape. There are many great amenities and things to do, rain or shine. We had a lovely time but our biggest complaint was that the staff in 3 different bars on the resort were tipping themselves 20% before handing over the payment terminal to us. We had gone up to the bar - the staff were not serving us at a table, in any location. When we called them out on it, they claimed that it was part of the conference contract, which I don't think is acceptable or appropriate...or even true/legal??? Even if this was true, my husband and I purchasing drinks at thew bar for our personal consumption, should not be subjected to an automatic 20% tip without any notification. We ended up buying our own beverages from the LCBO and no longer drinking from/at the bar, as did others attending the same conference.
Room was clean and comfortable. Location was good for travel to Algonquin Park.
A bit expensive given the resort features that are available like the indoor pool (small), arcade and restaurants. Didn't take advantage of outdoor pool or restaurants. Found that dining options were better in nearby Huntsville than at the resort. Main building was full so was located at the Bayshore building about 5 minute walk away from main building. Was early in the season so many things were not open or available.
Wonderful location, rooms are large and well kept. Staff are very accommodating and knowledgeable. Great vacation spot, all kinds of activities on site.
Beautiful setting
Nothing, thought everything was great
Stayed during the Ontario Senior Games. The usual ambience. The staff was attentive and there were extra activities for the Games.
Best experience. The view is stunning. Good place to escape from a busy city. My toddler had a great time from the playhouse, arcade and pool. For sure we will comeback again.
Good amenities, space, everything was clean and maintained
Bayshore rooms felt a little tired. Huge room, tiny bathroom. We went Easter weekend and it was absolute chaos especially for the activities that were held. It was nice just a little bit “full”
Overrated resort. Money grabbing opportunity. Very few amenities. Most of the ones advertised as amenities are basic. Will never go again.
There's a free activity to do with the kids. We loved the super dog show. It was fun!
Coffee is too expensive. $4 for the small size
Great big property with a lot of different options and very nice with kids (treehouse, pool, …). A lot of activities proposed and loads to do in the area.
A bit old, some parts of the property could really be refurbished. It gives an old-fashioned look :)
Room was clean for the most part
I didn't like that I called the front desk about kids running around the hallways past 9pm and slamming on doors I know kiddos are just trying to have fun but they said they would send a security guy but the hallway running and door slamming didn't end till around midnight I also called twice and hour after my first call Also no microwave in the bayshore room
We were really excited for our stay at Deerhurst Resort and booked it for March Break as a family getaway. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t live up to expectations. On our first morning, we had water coming through the ceiling from the room above. We understand that things can happen, especially during a busy time like March Break, and maintenance did respond very quickly, which we appreciated. However, the follow-up from housekeeping was extremely disappointing. We used all of our towels to clean up the water and placed them in a corner of the room. Despite calling and stopping by the front desk multiple times, it took five requests over two days before we finally received fresh towels—and only after waiting at the front desk in person. In the meantime, we had nothing to use for showers. The wet towel pile was never picked up. Additionally, when we arrived, there was food left on the floor from previous guests. During our 4 days the small garbage bins filled. We asked at the front desk for housekeeping to address this, but it never happened, and we ended up taking the garbage out ourselves. Aside from these issues, the resort itself has a lot to offer and we did enjoy parts of our stay. That said, there are many other resorts that provide similar amenities with a higher standard of cleanliness and service. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we won’t be returning.
Bad customer service. Zero help from staff to make us feel welcome. We spent over $1000 for one night stay and just didn't feel appreciated what so ever. We've been coming to this resort for years and the experience felt like a money grab as opposed to a valued customer.
Attended beerhurst. Concert and beer fest were great. Suite was fantastic the kitchen and living space made for an enjoyable weekend.
Came up with my son for March Break expecting a higher-end experience for the price. Instead, it felt like a blatant cash grab. If this is the level of experience, I would have stayed in Toronto. The “kids zone” was embarrassing. A conference room with broken bouncy castles and unusable games. Calling that a March Break activity is misleading at best. The worst part was the food and service. We ordered a simple takeout meal from the Maple Pub that somehow cost $86. We were told 10 to 15 minutes. It took 45 with zero communication. Staff were dismissive and made me feel like I was bothering them just for asking about my order. When the food finally came, items were missing including drinks and desserts. My son was starving and at that point I had no energy left to deal with it. This is the kind of experience that feels completely wrong. Overpriced, understaffed, and poor quality across the board. For a place like Deerhurst, this is honestly unacceptable. Running a business like this and charging premium prices is part of a bigger problem. People deserve better than this. We will not be back and I would strongly recommend avoiding this place if you are expecting anything close to quality or value.
Property was clean, staffs were friendly and helpful. Would also add Mr. Paul shuttle service was good too.
We stayed in Bayshore, there were no microwave , would be good if there is microwave, vending machines in common food area in the building as we had troubled in heating milk, food items for kids. We had to go to pavilion main entrance and there were no microwave too, we asked reception desk and they helped in heating kids food. It was little trouble especially in this regard as kids sometimes may get stomach upset if they eat cold food. Would be good if it was mentioned clearly that Bayshore building will not have any reception, vending machines and microwave. Was it mentioned earlier than we could have planned accordingly! Thanks
I recently stayed at Deerhurst Resort in the Bayshore building with my family + baby, and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing overall. First, the hotel feels extremely dated - not sure how it’s a 4 star. The rooms in the Bayshore building are quite old and in need of renovation. While I will say the beds were actually comfortable (contrary to many reviews I read beforehand, so perhaps they’ve been replaced), most other aspects of the room felt outdated. The TV was not a smart TV and did not have Netflix or any streaming options. The shower was also very difficult to turn on and operate. There is ice luckily on the 4th floor. There were also almost no basic in-room amenities. Surprisingly, there were not even wine glasses in the room. Everything seemed to just be a challenge; we expected at least some convenience. Traveling around the property in the winter was also inconvenient. From the Bayshore building, it’s about a 15-minute walk through the snow and cold to reach the main areas, and the shuttle only runs until 6 PM, which makes evenings especially difficult with a baby. Hopping in and out of the car to check in and then go to the pool, etc was exhausting. Dining options were extremely limited. During our stay, almost everything was closed — even the coffee shop. There was only one restaurant open on the property. Breakfast there was actually quite good and the service at breakfast was friendly, but overall the food options were very limited. If you’re staying here in the winter, be aware that most food delivery services like Uber Eats don’t operate in the area, so you really need to plan ahead for dinner. I also visited the spa for a massage and found the facilities very dated and underwhelming for what is supposed to be a resort spa. The pool was okay but nothing special. Service throughout the stay was inconsistent. At the bar, I ordered a dirty martini and asked for it to be extra dirty. After asking a couple of times, the waitress responded by telling me that I should just order olive juice instead of a martini, which I found quite rude. Another major issue for families: there are no microwaves in any of the buildings, which is incredibly inconvenient when traveling with a baby. I have a one-year-old and needed to warm milk, which became a daily frustration. The fridge in the room was also extremely small (not an actual mini fridge) and had an exposed heat plate on the back that could easily be dangerous for small children. I was also celebrating my birthday during this trip. Unfortunately the stay was so boring and disappointing that we asked if we could cancel our second night and receive a refund so we could leave early. The hotel refused twice. Even after Expedia contacted the managers on our behalf, they would not make any exception. They did offer to move us to a Pavilion room, but it only had a parking lot view and we had already paid extra for a lakeview room, so that option didn’t make sense for us. What made the experience most frustrating was that management would not show any flexibility or attempt to resolve the situation. We felt the room could easily have been resold, but they simply repeated the same response instead of trying to help. Overall, this resort might be nicer in the summer when more amenities are open and the lake activities are available. However, during the winter it does not feel like a four-star resort and is not good value for the price. Because of the lack of support and flexibility from management when we asked to leave early, I would rate this stay 1 out of 5 stars. while I understand I booked through Expedia and the reimbursement options are much more limited, Expedia was more than willing to assist- while Deerhurst was not helpful at all. Just because I book with another method doesn't mean the same quality and customer service concerns don't exist or should be addressed. We are very disappointed because we travel very often and have at least one family trip away from the city a month and this was something we looked very forward to returning in the summer. I even spoke to the manager on site and said that I will be proceeding to contact her office and leaving a bad Google review and she did not seem to care. I hope that you revisit a lot of the things in the future so that guest can have better positive experiences.
Our family - two couples with 2 kids each ages 3 months, 13 years, 8 years and 21, visited deerhurst in early March. We reserved a lakefront villa (I think that’s what it’s called) with 3 bedrooms, 4 beds, a large kitchen / living room area and lake view. We loved the room! It was large, clean and well oriented. The beds, linens and pillows were comfy and so were the couches. We had everything we needed in the kitchen for cooking our breakfasts and dinners. The large table was great for meals and playing games. The only aesthetic thing I thought was odd and bothered me the whole time was the choice of wall art throughout the place. All European street scapes - bizarre. Some landscapes, trees, lakes, wildlife - would suit much better and create a better vibe. I have more Canadian wildlife art in my living room than this room did throughout. We hoped to use the skating rink and hike around but the weather had been too warm to skate and too rainy (and slippery because of the snow melt) for walking around - luckily we loved hanging out in our room. A few from our group went and checked out the Beerhurst event - which they really enjoyed. Will return again.
2 bedroom lodgings were nice to share with another couple. Nightly resort fee should have been reduced/optional considering that at this time of year, outdoor activities weren't all available or appropriate for us.
We had an amazing experience. Lot's of fun activities for kids and adults. Great restaurant options and very nice and helpful staff. We will definitely come back!
Overall experience was topnotch. Plenty of choice in activities both indoor and outdoor. Staff are friendly and helpful. Will definitely return again.
Beautiful location, fun activities and nice staff. Food was delicious and well priced. Lots to do both inside and outside, definitely a great place to go!
Lots of activities to do for adults and kids, some at no charge
It would have been better to book a room at the main pavilion, Much more convenient than having to drive or walk when going to dinner, or the pool, etc. First time visiting, so we didn't know. Next time will book in the main pavilion. Building we were in had very narrow hallways, nothing of a lobby and no services. Nice view of the lake was very good though, so that helped
For the price we paid for a room - they are very tired. We had room 1-105 Our coffee maker was broken, we had no glasses in the room, the bathroom sink was clogged and drained very slowly, there were stains on the rug, the sliding glass door was very difficult to open and close, and there were no pant hangers in the closet. There was no maid service (we were advised later that it had to be requested - but we were not informed about this when we checked in.) Without the maid service - we ran out of coffee, clean towels and the hand soap. We were at the hotel for a much publicized weekend with hundreds following the schedule. There was no accommodation made for having lunch on the Saturday. Our schedule only had a 2 hour period for lunch. The ONLY place that was open was your very small pub - and that had at least an hour wait on tables. You should have anticipated that we would want to have some lunch - and at least open something that we could have a bite. The coffee shop was consistently running out of sandwiches - so the kitchen had not been prepared either. Our experience with Michael Smith and his team from PEI was Amazing – your team left a lot to be desired. Don’t think we will be back again – even for Michael Smith.
The Fork and Fire event was amazing, but the facilities are dated and we were very disappointed with the lack of re oom amenities. The resort map is terrible.
The resort feels dated: rooms, facilities...everything is "fine", but not memorable. The restaurant experience was positively ridiculous. We waited for over an hour for our food to be served.
Nice location and food was good. Unfortunately many restaurants where closed during our stay and only main restaurant was open with sometimes reduced hours. Mattress was not comfortable. Window in room did not lock and it was on mainfloor facing parking lot which is a safety concern.
Maybe it’s better in the summer. First winter trip and menus, options and availability is limited in all aspects Spa needs a serious upgrade. I’m 6’3” and the robes and tables designed for 5’8” max. Wasted $200 on a massage that I had to spend worried about falling off the table. Couldn’t relax at all
