Loved the outdoor vibes, reminded me of like dirty dancing. The renovations are beautiful. Use of outdoor activities great, beautiful little beach. Salt water pool and hot tub were wonderful! Obsessed with heated bathroom floors now!
I wish there was a clear path from the facility to the beach from both sides of the building would be ideal. As well as clearer directions down at the beach for using the outdoor amenities. I had to keep calling front desk to ask where things were and where to sign it out etc.

Location and views
Price and cost to use amenities despite fact that we did not due to weather and the one day our kids wanted to take a kayak out at 4:15 (when the weather cleared) we were told they could not as all boats had to be back in by 5.
The room was amazing for its value! The beds were really nice and the cabin-like feel was the cherry on top! Plus, the tv, surprisingly isn’t cable! The pool is nice, however the hot tub and free dry sauna is the best!
The microwave was what many would call “DOOKIE, being very dirty and not overall unpleasant. Some parts of the room also followed the trend, some parts having mysterious goop.
The pool was really nice, except for being a little cool. View was very nice. Balcony was pleasant to sit and take in the view.
Resort had no elevator, in our view a negative fact. Room also had no microwave, although not absolutely necessary, it would have been a nice convenience. Cleaning service was mediocre.
location
restaurant ran out of food
Nice localization Nice outdoors
Rooms need to be renovated Windows screen dirty and very hard to open Old furniture , ripped chairs
Comfortable beds. Resturant on site was handy.
Very dated, doors old, wallpaper peeling in hallways, some windows you couldn't see through because the seals were gone. Probably a nice place in its prime but somewhat an old relic now, especially for the cost. Many unexpected charges, municipal accomodation fee and resort fee ($39 additional charges plus tax). While pets allowed they are not welcome, there is no area for them outdoors nor at the water.
Very good
Good
Overall, we were very happy with our stay. Having both an indoor and an outdoor pool was a great advantage, and the hot tub was especially excellent. The restaurant was also quite good, especially in terms of value for money. The location is beautiful, surrounded by nature, and not too far from the town centre.
The only negative experience we had was with one of the staff members. We wanted to rent some equipment to use on the lake, but we were told that we could not because there was a wedding taking place. We completely understood and patiently waited for the wedding to finish. However, the wedding was held in an area that was not actually related to the lake activities, and we still had to wait for quite a long time. My eight-year-old son eventually saw people leaving the wedding and simply went to ask when it was over and when we could use the equipment. The staff member spoke to him in a very harsh and threatening manner, saying things like, “Don’t do that again,” “You are being very disrespectful,” and “I won’t let you use anything.” We found this completely unnecessary and inappropriate, especially toward an eight-year-old child who had been patiently waiting for quite some time. My son even apologized, showing great maturity, but the staff member continued with comments such as, “Do you want me not to let you go?” followed by “Fine, I’ll let you go.” It felt like an unnecessary display of authority and was very disappointing.
Bathroom needs an update.
The amenities and property is absolutely beautiful!
It is run down and due for renovations, especially the rooms. I also wish there was an easier way to get down to the lake. Maybe another set of stairs on the other end of the property.
The location was amazing.
The rooms could have a been a bit cleaner. We had no hot water one of the days for a few hours but the front desk lady I believe her name was Reena she was very helpful and made our stay more comfortable.
Die Lage zum See mit nettem Strand
Wir hatten ein Zimmer im Keller, die Einrichtung war schon in die Jahre gekommen und es sollte mal renoviert werden. Das Zimmer war aber sauber und ruhig.
Property was great, nice setup
Little dated , no elevator
We really enjoyed the beach, the lake and the beautiful greenery surrounding the resort. Having both indoor and outdoor pools was a big plus. Kayaks, canoes, and paddle boats are available free of charge, which was great. There’s also a volleyball net and a few other fun beach activities. The resort is conveniently located just a 10–15 minute drive from Huntsville.
It could be better maintained, especially the common areas, which are in need of renovation. Outdoor showers for the pool would be a great addition. More sunbeds would also be appreciated during peak season.
Comfortable and clean room.
Iew of the parking lot
The facility is absolutely excellent. It's exactly how the pictures describe it. We loved the pools both outdoor and indoor. The one outdoor the water was a bit colder but very refreshing on a sunny day. Most of the kids and guests in general preferred the indoor pool bc the water had a fair temperature, it was not in the sun. The hot tub was amazing!!! Same sauna!!!. The lake is really nice too. They have lots of choice os kayak, paddle boats, paddle boards, boats, tennis, volleyball. Overall we really loved our stay. They provide towels all the time, the cleaning lady came in the room in the morning and took our garbage and asked if we need towels or anything else. Breakfast was ok. It's buffet. We just tried for 1 morning.
The rooms need a bit more upgrade. The washroom didn't have ventilation. When we took a shower it was super steamy.
Room felt like we were in a dungeon. 1st floor is actually in the basement, no balcony, no outdoor access. Hotel has no elevators. Indoor pool and out door pool are old and in poor shape. $17 for breakfast of what you would normally get for free at many other hotels. $39 per day added to your bill for use of facilities is way too much. There is absolutely nothing to do in the evening or on a rainy day, no games room or pool tables etc.
I really liked the lake, the use of the boats, and pool noodle. The outdoor pool was nice, but I would have liked longer open hours. I would have liked to have a swim earlier in the morning, before breakfast, 9am was too late for opening. I didn’t have breakfast, but the girl in the restaurant, for me to get coffee, was so very friendly. I wanted non dairy for my coffee, and happy there was almond milk as an option.
Outdoor pool opening hours. Would have liked an earlier opening time.
quiet, even though it was in renovation, friendly personel, especially at breakfast
They charged me $39.00 for facility fees.
Great
Nothing
Swimming pools, the lake, possible to rent a canoe, very good breakfast (paid extra)
Location was scenic with private beach. The staff in the dining room was great with accommodating my daughter's allergies.
The front desk staff need to be more warm and provide accurate information. For example, we were told that the show was canceled and when we returned later, the show was in progress. The facility needs some TLC. It is run down and in need of renovation. For example, rooms numbers falling off the door, wall paper peeling, basket ball and tennis courts look abandoned, my toilet sweat and ran continuously resulting in a soaked bathroom floor.. if you are going to call yourself a resort, you need resort type activities and entertainment.
Comfy bed. The lake is clean
Very much needed repairs. Dead tree on beach no umbrellas to allow shade. Broken picnic table.
Our room at least was clean and comfortable and our check-in was smooth. Lakeside location is also great.
The resort is tired and needs some updates almost everywhere. Small items could be the beach front with new chairs and cutting of the grass by the boat storage. A better entrance from the beach to the hotel area. Patrons were walking through the indoor pool area with sand on their shoes. Tennis courts need a major resurface.

Unkept landscaping, sandy lakefront beach is poorly maintained and NO beach sun umbrellas! Pictures show sun umbrellas on beach and as such we feel we were fed false advertising in this respect. Water sports equipment lacking (no stand up paddle boards) which again is false advertising. Room smelled like it had been smoked in despite the fact we’re told it was non-smoking room. The whole place is run down. A slap of paint can’t fix it.
Location was good
Bathroom very dirty tub was disgusting and dirty
Nice location and other factilites
Room could have better facilities for example TV sets and not smart ones
Outdoor pool and location
More pool loungers/chairs
The nature around the place is breathtaking, staff is nice and the food was ok. The breakfast is fine as well.
There’s no elevator and baby cribs. I was ordering a room for me and my family 2 kids age 6 and 1.8 I was asking to stay on 1st floor and for a baby crib, they gave me camping crib without mattress and the room was on third floor. Rooms look old, with old TV old colour and odours of an old place.
I liked the location, and lots of activities for the kids.
I didn't like how unkept everything was. For the price we paid, I was expecting everything to be more updated. The grounds were not kept near, lots of overgrown weeds around the courts. Steps leading up to the resort were not in the greatest shape. Our shower in our room was definitely not made for tall people. I was just expecting better for the price we paid.
Great place, clean and spacious rooms, super friendly reception, restaraunt and housekeeping staff! Reena at the reception was super helpful! The restaraunt food was great, the amenities were clean and well maintained! We really enjoyed our weekend stay!
We went into town for breakfast
Bathroom was SO outdated leaking and peeling

Travelled to the resort with Front Line Tours for 2 nights 3 days. Had a fantastic time, room was on ground floor and this was excellent there are no elevators and my wife uses a walker, nice clean comfy room and 2 beds were just great. Used the hot tub and again used the stairs for access. Had breakfast in Birches Restaurant and also lunch and supper. Good variety of breakfast items. Staff very helpful.
The family suite was perfect for our stay. It was nice to have an area to eat and a living room to sit. The renovations to the lobby are very nice and modern.
The listing says accessible but there is no elevator. I was traveling with someone with mobility issues and was denied a room on the main level. No elevator to access any floors, swimming pool, hot tub or sauna. If you want to walk down to see the beach and have mobility issues you can't. The stairs leading down have no railings. At first I was given the wrong room according to my booking. The lady at the front desk, Rena, was not very accommodating and was adamant I was incorrect. William and the manager took over and were very apologetic in the mistake that was made and had my room switched to the room I booked, which was the family suite. Although the room was very clean it was outdated and was in definite need of repairs. The resort is nice and I can see it growing to becoming great under the new management.
I hate to give negative reviews as I am aware that you cannot please everyone. However we visited in mid May only to be told that there was no bar, no restaurant and no massage facilities. We had travelled from the UK and were very disappointed. I could not find anything on the website to support this.
Hidden Valley has a beautiful setting and the beds were comfortable, but there are several areas that need improvement. Noise from other guests in the hallways continued late into the night, making it difficult to rest. Front desk communication was also disappointing, as calls often went unanswered and responses came much later than expected. In addition, the floors in our room did not appear to have been thoroughly cleaned. The room itself was fine, but overall the experience did not compare favourably to other hotel chains such as Hampton Inn, where cleanliness, service, and noise management are generally more consistent. Hidden Valley has potential, but guest comfort and responsiveness need more attention.
Nice hot tub/pool area for kids & adults. Nice views onto the ski hill.
This is not what it used to be. This is not our first time here but might be the last time. Apparently, this place is under new ownership and it’s not good. Firstly, if the hotel is under renovation that should be mentioned. On arrival I unpacked 2 kids and an 80 year old mother. Only to find the bed broken and needed to be replaced and so we changed rooms to unpack every one again. They gave us breakfast for our stay. Ok. Let’s think positive and move on. Went swimming, great choice for old and young. Unfortunately, this is not a heated pool it’s a cold plunge. First story it was being worked on. Second story it would be fixed next day. Third story it wasn’t going to be done this week at all. Went to the restaurant to eat dinner. Well the menu is not the same. Can’t even get a proper dinner. Well they had to change the menu blah, blah, blah. $140 later and don’t get me wrong I have no problem spending the money just give me choice beyond a burger and wings, would have been happy to pay more. Let’s move on. Back to the room. So let’s add the fire stick we brought with us to the tv and watch movies it’s getting late anyways. Well after getting an extension cord so we could even plug it in….the converter doesn’t work. Are you kidding me right now. Convinced everyone tomorrow would be better as we still thought the pool was getting fixed (found out in the morning that it wasn’t going to happen and no one was trying to fix it anytime soon). Day 2 - Went to front desk and got a converter and took the kids for private ski lessons and then went into town. Let me tell you nothing to do there. BTW no lunch available at the hotel so you eat the breakfast buffet 7-10 or you wait till 5pm to eat, or as we did go into town. Brought kids to pool for try number 2. All kids are in hot tub counted 10, all kids, pool noodles, no parents keeping them normal, and so no room for adults in the hot tub and kids clearly can’t handle the cold plunge pool either. 2 more day not sure how I’m about to survive.
The location is great.
This stay was a huge disappointment. We’ve stayed there before and went back because of the amenities but they were missing this time. The pub wasn’t open until dinner at 6. We had looked forward to a late afternoon drink in the bar to watch Olympics. The restaurant was only open from 6-8:30. When we asked to see a menu they couldn’t find one. It was like they weren’t planning to feed anyone. We went elsewhere and when we returned at 7:30 they told us we needed to order now because they decided to close early. Not customer focussed at all. The staff were uninformed. They didn’t know what was going on or where things were and appeared not to care. Horrible customer service. The activity/amenity fees were a total rip off. Not at all worth what we paid. Did not match what is promoted.
When I booked our stay, the information about facility sounded promising, although the price seemed high, but we were willing to spend a bit more for our 60th wedding anniversary. Staff was friendly and helpful whenever we needed something. Buildings outside were beautiful and looked well taken care of.
Booking's website said that the restaurant was open and the breakfast was included, neither was true. Our reserved room had an electric fireplace which was inserted into an old woodburning one. I think they forgot to block the old chimney. Cold freezing outside air was blowing into the room. The room heater could not bring the temperature up to a bearable warmth. The staff offered the next room to us, which was okay. Interiors of the rooms were dated and not what you would expect in this level of resort. On January 16th Booking charged me $466.20 for two night's stay and as we were there the price was $138.00 per day! How is this possible? Today it is $130.00. That is closer to real value of their rooms!
Water in pool was too cold
Very dated
Klein
Location to Ski hill could not be better. The views.
Couldn't see the view as the windows were dirty. Not enough seating to socialize in the bar area unless you sit at a dinning table. Ask for a room with a view was told not available however another member of staff said there was. Room was out dated and dirty. The lighting in the room wasn't sufficient therefore making them very dark and dank feeling. Was told rooms would be adjoining but they were not. Receptionist chose not to really listen to questions he just kept saying yes yes yes.
Close to where we needed to be. Beautiful view. Great service. Always things to do.
Our room needed some repairs, but it was comfortable for our needs.
The location was excellent. Good great. Rooms nice but needs soft seating and a balcony.
No balcony. No soft seats
Old
Location, price.
No gym or a place for indoor activities. I remembered there were a place for pingpong but can't find it now.
the food was good
No elevator. Did not receive the room that I had booked and the front desk associate was unaccommodating. This actually ruined the entire trip for us
The staff were amazing, very helpful and incredibly friendly. The NYE celebration was also excellent! I would definitely recommend the hotel and will most likely stay again.
The indoor pool was to cold to really enjoy.
We stayed here for 2 nights in Dec 2025. It was horrible. First there was water on the floor, the fridge had leaked. It was also freezing. Concierge came and offered to change rooms. We did. The next room was freezing and was not warming up. We crawled under the covers. The heater was working, but not enough heat to warm up the room. The concierge did offer to change rooms again but we settled on extra blankets as im sure all rooms are cold. If thats not bad enough, the shower water was hot and then cold as I was full of soap and shampoo Same thing the next day. We asked to speak with manager but not in. Hmmmm my daughter sent an email, no reply. I've left 2 messages and no reply. I will never stay there again. Id much rather pay extra and stay at Deerhurst BTW. The room finally warmed up by pur 2nd night but floor was still cold.
Location was nice, right by the slopes
When we arrived, the pool, hot tub and sauna were out of commission, bar restaurant were closed(we arrived at 7pm) and no staff working. The place is under renovations and no noticevehen I booked(same day as arrival)
We came here for a work holiday party. The view from our room was gorgeous, the buffet food was excellent and the party overall was great. The DJ they hired did an excellent job. Only downsides were they charged more than $11 for one can of hard cider, and the rooms/hotel are a bit dated. Overall, a very pretty area, a memorable meal, and a fun time.
Pretty much nothing this time
Room view was bad, no elevators so moving luggage was a pain, canoes were closed as they were closed in our previous 2 visits, no microwave in rooms
There were young adults breaking into rooms and stealing, the staff didn't seem to care at all, none of the exterior doors locked, and people had to be moved to rooms where the patio door locked. We had to call the police and when they arrived they were not surprised and acted like this was a normal occurance. This wasted an entire evening of our stay. The entire facility is very dated, the room and walk paper peeling, and the paint on the door looked like it was done by a 2 year old. There does not seem to be any desire to maintain the facility. It took 3 hours to get dinner on saturday night at the restaurant. On Check out day there was no hot water, which ended the stay on a bad note.
"5/5 STARS! This hidden gem is my home away from home! If you're looking for a tranquil escape in nature, look no further! Hidden Valley Resort is a must-visit destination." I loved exploring the trails, taking in the breathtaking views, and unwinding at the spa, hot tub and sauna! The staff were top-notch, always ready to help and ensure I had an unforgettable stay. Can't wait to come back and experience it all again!
Location
From the time we arrived until we left, the staff were amazing and very helpful. I will certainly go again. The amenities were great. I forgot a very cherished necklace there when we left and we had arrived home. I spoke to Lawrence at the front desk and he went to the room we occupied and found it. I was thrilled!!! 2 days later and I had my necklace delivered to my home 4 hours away. Great service!!!
Location
Old, run down, very spartan
This hotel is in serious need of renovation and is ridiculously overpriced. I suspect it is in financial difficulty. We stayed 2 nights at $344 per night for a room that had a barely patched hole in the bathtub with a broken drain. Neither of the bedside lamps worked - one required an extension cord the other a burned out lightbulb. Also a burned out lightbulb in the bathroom. The tv remote did not work. There were potato chips on the rug in the hall that were still there when we left. The breakfast buffet for $16 each was horrible. Cold scrambled eggs served on paper plates and cold coffee in cardboard cups. We tried to speak with the manager named Evan but he was not to be found the whole time we were there.
Location was great!
It was a connecting room. Voices could be heard through the door! Only 1 facecloth that was stained! Breakfast wasn't very good.
Hotel is dated Room had no clock and limited lighting Bathroom had no fan Floor in entire room was terribly sticky Walkways not clearly marked out to back of hotel Stairs without railings not safe especially for seniors.. chairs at beach were only lounge style . Again not senior friendly Rest areas had alot of cigarette butts on ground
We visited this resort just for couple of days to check it out for possible next year visit with a larger group. It was a disappointment and we will have to look elsewhere. While the room accommodation was almost acceptable with only small problems like poor sink drainage and sliding door very difficult to close, the "resort" could not really be called a resort. The tennis and basketball courts were in appalling state with cracks and grass growing in them. Worse than in any public park. Some pavement upheaved to the point of tripping hazard.. The small beach had a lot of loungers, but 95% of them are very, very worn out or broken. Wouldn't want to sit there. The boating area had a few kayaks canoes and windsurfers. Could not try any because the office with lifejackets was open only for few hours as this was a low season. We did not use swimming pools, but on the first day the outdoor one was full of leafs and dirt - absolutely not inviting. The hotel charges $30 (+tax) "resort fee" on top of room rate - totally unjustified for what can be used. Breakfast was available for $16 (+tax) and the restaurant is big, but the selection was limited and you eat on paper plates and drink from paper cups. Almost equivalent to a cheap Econo Lodge breakfast, where it usually is free. With all the fees and taxes our price of $175/night became $240/night, despite the low season. Totally not worth. Could go to one of the motels in Huntsville for half of this price, and get an equivalent stay. Needles to say we will not return here and will not recommend it to anyone.
Breakfast is ok, the view of the room is absolutely nice But definitely price is way above the quality
Swimming pool needs full renovation, it is not even close to the world standards, maybe 60 or 70 years ago but not now, beds on the beach are in a bad shape,
Beautiful, peaceful place where we could all rest and recharge. Amazing shiatsu massage with Laila. Thank you for your hospitality 🥰
There is no lift in the building, had to carry our luggage upstairs. You need to go through numerous fleets of stairs to get to the lake. Quality of meals offered at the restaurant is below average (ordered large Canadian pizza and fish and chips). Room with the balcony happened to have a balcony overlooking car park at the front of the resort - what is the point of having a balcony? No sleep all night-paper thin walls with baby next door crying constantly, then from 6:30 am a toddler playing drums and singing, so we packed our bags and left.
Location is beautiful and has enough to keep kids occupied
A little outdated Pool should be open later and restaurant is sub par
Lawrence is the best, The service manager Thanks for the smooth check in and great coordination The place getting better every year
Lake and kagak facilities
Food
Having access to two pools was nice, and the equipment was great.
There is no elevator, there was no balcony in the room to sit out on. The pool scum line needs to be cleaned on both pools.
The staff were very friendly
We asked for a room with 2 doubles n sofa bed. We got no sofa bed. The lake Lakeview was a picture of the road n trees no lake on either left or right of the balcony. When I attempted to complain, they said because it was booked from an outside party.. booking. Com
The view from the restaurant patio was beautiful
We had room 135. It should never be rented out. There were holes in the walls, the floor was peeling. The room was so damp that everything was wet all the time. The beds were wet, the floor was in a constant state of stickiness. We've attached 3 photos but there was so much more wrong with the room. 1 lightbulb from both the bathroom and coffee area were both out so they were poorly lit. We noticed this was a trend in other rooms as well. The fan in the bathroom was not working so that added to the humidity in the room when we had a shower. The breakfast that we had to pay $16 for, most hotels provide that complimentary. The restaurant is really expensive. We ordered 3 apps and 2 drinks. Our bill was $103. We were there for a wedding but could only stay the Friday night as we had to leave for a funeral. We asked for a late check out so we would not have to get into our wedding attire too early. Wedding was at 3pm. The latest they would give us was 12pm even though the text I received said we could book a late check out for $20 per hour extra.
We have gone here in the past as a family and enjoy it. The hotel is good has had some updates done but could use more. Bathrooms are needing totally upgrades. The doors to the rooms are not always able to close and get stuck. Beds are ok not the most comfortable pillows aren’t bad. There is no elevators you must be able to carry you things to the rooms. To get to the beach there are tons of stairs not good for everyone with mobility issues or older guests at all they are steep and uneven also there is a wasp nesting underneath the steps so you need to be careful they are everywhere. Would be a good idea for a golf cart that can take you from the top to the bottom. The indoor pool we didn’t use as it needs work very cloudy looking, the outdoor pool would be great but needs cleaning there is lots of hair balls and bugs in the 4 days we where there not once did we see anyone clean the pools. The fire alarm went off we all went outside there was a firefighter that was staying at the hotel at the time that was upset at how the whole situation was handled as they were not telling anybody to evacuate and hadn’t called the fire department, you went outside and fire department came and let us back in. There is lots to do for family’s the restaurant is available only for breakfast and dinner no lunch options available as you sit on the beach. Would we go again maybe. But maybe they could use a bit more staff to help up keep.
The location
The attitude of staff and the restaurant facilities... We were very disappointed about the dinner at the restaurant.... first we were told to wait for 20 minutes by Allie... when we came back after 20 minutes, we were again told to wait for 10 minutes by Allie.... she mentioned that there is a group of 30 people that is more important to serve.... it was looking that we were avoided to getting served due to racism... we had 3 kids in our group who were getting very hungry due to the extended wait times.... made us regret to book with this resort....
for what we paid it definatelly wasent worth it looks like the best years of this place are well behind it we asked for a water view and instead got an awesome veiw of the parking lot which has spots so tight you have to squeeze out of your door to get out when we checked in the concierge was not very helpfull no explaining anything about the wi fi or amenities seemed like he didnt want to be there again for what they charge it definatelly not worth your money would not recomend this place
We booked this resort on their official site, and a week before our reservation, it was cancelled due to overbooking. This is completely outrageous, as it’s a long weekend and we can’t find anything now last minute. I hope people think twice before booking this place….
The location was lovely. Swimming pools were enjoyable.
Dirty room upon arrival. Room we were moved into had broken balcony doors. Promised a good balcony view and paid extra, but got a view of a car park. Breakfast was sub par and used paper and plastic plates and utensils.
Very outdated. Lakefront room is looking at trees and grass. Can barely see the lake. No elevator so if your on anything other than 2nd floor you have to carry your bags. Outside area not looked after. Never trimmed. A total ripoff for the money you get charged per night
I did not buy the breakfast. The location was mediocre for what you actually pay.
Didn't like missing a whole day by checking in at 4pm and both pools closing at 9pm. Staff double charged me for my visit, adding a holding fee of $200.00 and a $289.27 fee that they were supposed to charge Booking.com with. When I inquired about the fees on my credit history the front desk staff unprofessional rushed me and didn't seemed too busy to care about the resorts error. Still waiting for further communication on the refunds..but no one has bothered to to email me or return my call. Way too much money for no value and getting ripped off is unacceptable! Will not return to this so called establishment and would never recommend it to anyone!
Rooms were decent and we love private beach (with free access to sports equipment) and access to pool. Charlean who was running kids activities was amazing and kids were excited and happy to participate. Its an older hotel, but overall we were happy with our stay.
Long wait time in restaurant. Waiters worked super hard and we appreciate them. ( Yet, We chose to eat out in the town for the rest of the stay).
Nice staff, everyone from the front desk, to the restaurant to the beach attendant and housekeeping were lovely.
No elevator so you have to carry your luggage down or up stairs if you aren’t on the second floor.
The property over all was good. The rooms were very out dated
