Emily the bartender was very vibrant and gave me a discount on my drink today. She was simply amazing and friendly! I highly recommend her.
Corner room Roof top bar
Only one elevator took you to the roof top bar
Very clean, nice staff!
The location was good and staff friendly.
Dated tired damaged decor and furniture .
Great staff everyone was courteous and helpful, food was very good, great location to Alabama Theater,
Facility needs updating. The flash flood kept us from enjoying the rooftop bar
Breakfast was good - purchased at onsite restaurant.
Walkable to restaurants. Scooter rental was convenient. Friendly staff, comfortable room.
Elevator service was spotty. Not much coffee available on Sunday morning.
My wife and I spent one night here so that we could visit civil rights sites. Here are my brief observations: 1. The location is excellent; it is a short drive to the Civil Rights Museum and the 16th Street Baptist Church. 2. The valets were exceedingly nice and helpful. 3. In an otherwise mediocre breakfast, I want to compliment the young waitress who helped us. She was very sweet and polite. 4. The rooftop bar has wonderful vies of the city. 5. The gym has two brand new Peletons. I tried all my tricks, but they would not work. I reported the issue to the night clerk, and he tried to help me. He said he would tell maintenance. I tried the next day, and they were still not working. I told the clerk. "I know," she retorted, "they have not worked for months." What the hell? Why have them if you are going to let them sit there inoperable. Fix them!
The rooftop and the authentic details
The smell of damp in the room.
Sam who greeted us and served as our value was the highlight of our guest experience. Professional, helpful and kind.
The hotel is extremely dated and not well kept. The elevators were not working. It is not very clean. Rooms are not very comfortable.
Jaron with valet deserves a 5/5. Other than that definitely wouldn’t stay here again. While it wasn’t the worse I’ve ever stayed it wasn’t worth the amount we paid. Bathroom floor and shower need remodeling OR deep cleaning. Elevators need to be fixed. Housekeeping need to be paid more to do a better job or trained because I had to request room be vacuumed. There was a yellow spot on comforter. Front desk in the evening were nice but forgot to send up needed sheets since we couldn’t be switched to a double room from a king (had to buy an air mattress). I highly suggest renovating especially with pulling up the carpet. In 2026 no hotel should have carpet. This place has potential but renovation and training is needed. Once again, shout out to Jaron for making the stay pleasant regardless of the other issues.
I’ll start with the gold. The guys running valet are awesome. That’s literally where the good ends. The hotel is very busy and the elevator has been broken for a week. All foot traffic to rooms, the roof top bar and staff goes through the service elevator. That was annoying but just the beginning. The bed is an old spring bed that’s seen its last good day and the pillows are like sleeping on crumpled tissue paper. We noticed our body wash was empty so I mentioned it to the front desk on our way out, when we returned, our bed was made but literally nothing else was done to the room. No new coffee pods, no new water bottles and no body wash. The hotel doesn’t come with a hair dryer (which is bizarre). I went to the lobby at 5 am for a fresh coffee pod, the guy working the front desk was scrolling his phone. The lobby was full of trash. Taco Bell bags, beer cans etc.
My room was not ready at 6pm. The next room was dirty. None of the elevators work. Whoever gave this hotel a high rating has obviously never stayed here. And it was $350 per night.
The Redmont Hotel is fantastic. Even though the elevators were down, we loved this hotel. The reason being was the staff. Sam, the doorman, and his staff will greet you with a smile and make you feel welcome every single time they open the door for you. They are awesome. The rooftop bar is great, but the lobby bar is even better.
Close to everything
Staff very friendly and accommodating.
We used to love the redmont. Not only do the rooms need some major TLC, but most concerning is the elevators. One of the elevators has been broken since we visited this time last year. And the other one sounds like it’s about to break. None of them have been inspected since 2024. Almost a full year after the expiration date on the certificate. We will not be back.
Terrible, disgusting hotel and even worse management. The local manager, Tonya Williams, is an outright liar. Do not stay here at all!! I would rate this Hilton property 0 stars if we could. We are loyal Hilton Diamond members and have stayed at multiple Hilton properties around the world. This was one of the worst properties we have ever stayed at. We stayed here in February and from the time we attempted to check in, it was disappointing. We were upgraded due to our Diamond status and upon checking into our room it was absolutely disgusting. The bedsheets appeared dingy and the bathroom was gross. There was hair on the ground and a vomit stain on the tile. So vile! We calledcalled downstairs right away and were moved to another room that was not much better. However, we were there for a family function and has other guests arriving that we has suggested the hotel to. We did notify the manager on duty and he told us he would escalate our concerns. The next day, the hotel manager, Tonya was on sight and sat down and spoke to us regarding the issues. She agreed that our experience was 100% unacceptable and promised to compensate our Hilton Honors points for our entire stay. She assured us that she would make this happen. Also, despite our complaints and meeting with her, our room was never even serviced by house keeping our entire stay. Now over 1 month later after no follow-up call or email, we contacted her and at first she acted as if she has no idea what we were talking about. Then she stated she escalated the issue to corporate but was unauthorized to issue more than 20,000 points, which covers absolutely nothing! She totally and outright lied to us, after she had assured us in person and in an email that our entire points would be compensated. She even had the audacity to even yell at us on the phone. This is not the type of experience I expect as a loyal Hilton Diamond Member. In conclusion avoid this disgusting and poor quality Hilton property at all costs.
No hot water in the shower.
The location is great for downtown
The room was cozy, I hated that the roof top is closed on Sunday
Roof top being closed
Well cleaned, equipes and Ready when arrived. Would suggest a safety box and a small refrigerador. Besides that’s everything was fantásticas.
Only one elevator was working.
It looks super nice but the elevator was broken and super old and you can hear how loud and old it is in the room it moves throughout the whole night
THERE IS NO REFRIGERATOR huge take away so if you have left overs this not the hotel for you the lighting in the room was dumb as well only sources of light is the bathroom and a closest
The Hilton has completely forgotten about this hotel. It's a beautiful, historic hotel that Hilton has let fall into disrepair. We booked a room with "2 queen beds". The beds were doubles. The rooms do not match the obline photos. No desk, chairs, lamps, etc. The furniture that was in the room, was falling apart/ broken. Toilet accessories were falling out of the wall. The restaurant was completely understaffed - 1 person was the host and waitress for the entire restaurant. The food was horrible. This hotel was AWFUL!! The staff was courteous and responsive. They were the only redeeming quality. Shame on Hilton for ruining an historic building!
I stayed one night here, and I cannot recommend it. I paid way too much ($400!) for a hotel that had scratched walls, dirty floors in the elevator and hallway, and a general sense of disrepair. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Unfortunately all night I could hear the banging of the elevator as its gears clanked and echoed into my room (room 301). Even the planters at the front entrance looked sad and neglected. I thought Hilton properties would have a higher standard.
The location was fantastic! Cool historical building. The pillows were great! Nice view of the city.
Customer service was terrible! One small elevator working, roaches in our room, no mini fridge, the double beds are full size instead of queen and uncomfortable, the ac/heater wasn’t working properly, and the elevator noises were loud in our room until early hours of the morning.
The quality and quantity of the BF meal was outstanding, however there was only one staff member taking orders from customers.
The cost of the rooms per night were to expensive. This was the first time in 40 plus years in attending ""The Magic City Classic"", that room cost per night exceeded ( $350.00 -$600.00 ). In previous years cost per night range ( $150.00 - $200.00 ) per night. The upword prices are absolutely ridiculous and cost me $834.00 this year versus $500.00 in previous years. I was told by one of your staff members that IN ORDER TO GET A BETTER OR CHEAPER RATE, call after November 1, 2025 to booked for 2026 Magic City Classic. I was priced $400.00 plus...SAD!!!!
The maintenance and valet workers were the only genuine and nice workers.
Long story short I got there with my group and had cash to pay. They gave me an option and that’s how I knew. I wanted to pay with cash because it was cheaper that way the lady at the desk was so ugly to me. She literally asked me after she told me no cash, Do you not have any money?” And was smacking on some barbecue chips. She was so disrespectful and was saying things as like well we just don’t do it blah blah blah with no real answers. and she said they took cash at checkout but not check in mind you I came three hours away and took out cash specifically because it told me it would be cheaper. The rooms literally had no clean linens. The towels had old makeup on from the previous people and the sheets had stains on them and so did the comforters. The location is the only thing good about this hotel.
The staff was great and the rooftop was a great addition for late night
Beautiful older hotel. Ms. Shvonne at the reception desk was awesome at check in. there were a few hiccups with my digital key on arrival but she was kind enough & saved me a trip back down to the lobby and was able to bring me a hard copy. The room is a little dated for the price but i got a beautiful city view.
We first visited Redmont about 10 years ago and were greeted by valets in stunning red uniforms. Classy. This trip, however, the valets greeted us with a strong vaping smell and there was no one at the front desk. The hotel is very tired. I am not sure what it means that there were no people in the restaurant. One of the two elevators was broken and the one that worked was so noisy that we were happy when we safely reached our floor. We thought we would go to the rooftop lounge of which we had fond memories. Unfortunately, the one working elevator only went to the 14th floor and the rest of the distance to the rooftop was through construction like stairway and honestly, it was scary! At the top, when I asked the bartender if there was another way to get to the lobby, she told me to use the elevator on the right...the one that was broken! Maybe she did not get the memo that it was broken. There was no refrigerator in the very tired room and there was no hot water at the sink. We attempted to find ice on several floors and ultimately had to go to the front desk. I was so excited when my husband told me that he made reservations at the Redmont because of our prior experience. This hotel should not be in the Hilton Curio brand.
Trendy cool look
The elevators were very noisy. The staff was not really happy to be working. This morning’s staff member at the checkout desk was asleep. She really did not want to print a receipt.
I wanted to stay at an old historic place, old is what we got. Pull up to front of hotel approximately 7:30 p m, on a Friday, valet sign there but no attendant. (I called earlier to inquire about parking since the website states no self parking & we had a small trailer with our suv. Clerk stated we could park across street in a lot. ) Walk in, no valet on Friday evening. Funny?!Told us to download an app to pay for city parking. We are Hilton members, not that it matters. Get in elevator, didn’t think the old thing would make it to the 4th floor. The hallway carpet has seen better days even though the Room/bathroom have been updated. We hear a rumble coming from AC closet in which the door is falling off. Since husband is a contractor he takes a look. The filter had NEVER been changed so the poor system was struggling. Nope, not staying this room. Go back downstairs ask for another room, this one was on 6th floor same room-location directly above other one. Pretty bad when furniture has been painted over not properly refinished, could see old finish scuff marks. Lamp shade on desk in bad shape. TOILET SEAT DID NOT fit toilet!! Rust showing thru on ceiling of bathroom as well as door hinges. No knob on closet doors, claw marks from others trying to slide open the heavy doors, I have very short nails & one still broke trying to open door. I so wanted to leave but we would not receive a refund. Go back downstairs to eat, what a JOKE. Gal takes her horrible long fingernails & touched items on my menu on table that they are OUT of which is SEVERAL items. Stated been out for a week & didn’t like having to tell guests but she had to. She was not properly dressed at all more like she was in her own home. Too casual, No uniform. I wanted to say I’m not impressed with your nails but I didn’t as I was loosing my appetite. Husband gets a hamburger, I get nothing. Small hamburger on big bun, greasy fries that took over 20 minutes to get at $20.00. I’m sure I’m leaving out something but I covered enough to say don’t stay here, wish that we hadn’t.
I love everything about the Redmont! It's always beautiful and welcoming.
There is nothing that I didn't like
Not well maintained, no hot water in bath sink, room odor, restaurant, location
A shabby hotel really. The reception staff, with one exception ( long fingernails ), were functional, with no welcome, charm nor interest. An excellent guy was the tall valet parking man. Really engaged and an asset. The corridors look like something from a prison. The two queen bed room we initially had was basic, and depressing. There was a clunking noise every few minutes..I went to reception, “it’s the elevator “..!. ( Then don’t put me in a noisy room, or fix the elevator.) I was moved to a corner room which was bigger and better. Unfortunately it had a door adjoining the next door room, so the TV from there woke me at 7am. From 11-7, the hotel finally was silent. The rooftop bar is small and pretty seedy looking. The outside bit has a view of an ugly city., the lobby is unwelcoming. The lounge bar is small but lively. Parking is a ludicrous $38 a night. Fortunately I was there at the weekend, where parking at the plentiful meters is free from 3pm Fri until early Monday. Not a good place
Great location
Shower water was cold
Stayed at the Redmont while in Birmingham for the weekend. The hotel had good bones, but everything feels old. This hotel could be remodeled from top to bottom and would be one of the BEST in Birmingham. We had a room with two double beds. The room was nice, but there was no chair to sit on. The folks at the front desk in the afternoon were rude and wouldn’t fulfill simple requests. When they did fulfill the requests, they were slow or brought the wrong things. Also, there was a gap between the window frame and the glass (which I am sure is a safety hazard). While I am glad to experience the Redmont, I will choose another hotel the next time I’m in Birmingham. This hotel was just not the Hilton quality that I have come to expect.
Nice ambiance and cozy vibes!
Die Rolf top Bar war sehr ungemütlich und ungepflegt und unsauber
I was there for a work event. There were 3 of us ladies and 2 of us shared a room the friend that I shared the room had an allergic reaction to the hotel. She is allergic to environmental, dust etc. We are pretty sure the air vent was pushing all the dust on the vent right into our room. She woke up both days with swollen eyes and her whole face being puffy. When we first got into our room the lights wouldn't work, they finally flickered on like a scary movie. Neither of the lamps were plugged in either. As we reached to the back of the bedside table to plug it in, we noticed what we thought was melted wax poured on the back of the side table. Speaking of tables there was not a desk or table to set things. Everything had to go in the floor. We also did not have a mini fridge and had to request one. Which when it arrived the door was broken, and we had to rig it to stay closed. The curtains had bobby pins on then to hold them closed and the 1 chair in the room had stains all over it. We didn't have hot water the first night or the next morning and the tub wouldn't drain and the first wash I went to use, once I got it wet under the water there were black spots that appeared on it. For the price we paid for this very outdated hotel there should have at least been a free breakfast. The elevators are very small and smell terrible. The staff was nice, but the overall experience was terrible, and I would not recommend anyone to stay there. My other friend that was in a different room was originally put into a room that already had someone staying in it. When we were dropping her off to her room, we found that it was occupied. When I went with her back to the front desk we got stuck in the elevator. The front desk lady stated that she tried to call us but none of us had a missed call from the hotel. Also, each floor has a sign for Ice Machine but low and behold I go to the front desk to ask where the ice machine is and the guy tells me that they are only located on the odd number floors...... The sign should say that.
Nothing
The hotel looked outdated. The elevator was small.
We stayed two nights for a concert trip. The
The Redmont made our stay in Birmingham very pleasant. The valet staff was super! We also enjoyed the cafe and restaurant located in the lobby. Our room was very nice and had an incredible view of the city. As a single mother traveling with two kids, I felt safe and comfortable.
The Redmont Hotel was nice, not perfect. Lobby is gorgeous and the room was clean. Definitely showing some wear in some areas but nothing serious. Hallways could use a very deep cleaning. Noise is a big problem. Bring ear plugs as the elevators make a loud banging noise that vibrates through the room. Also don’t book any rate that includes breakfast because the breakfast menu is dismal. They were not doing breakfast in the restaurant - they moved it to the cafe. This was fine except the one person working there couldn’t even tell us what items were included in the breakfast we had paid for already. With very limited food choices, we just left and went elsewhere.
The staff were so kind and helpful!
No minifridge
Old boutique hotel, in downtown BHM
Linens fresh, clean but old musty smell
Very nice hotel.
I arrived well at the checkout time in my room was not ready for two hours, and I almost missed my show. I was totally inconvenience. The lobby was full hot and frustrating. I’m a Hilton reward member bynn for several years. This almost made me stop shopping and doing business with the franchise.
Okay hotel. Great history about it but for the price you pay, it was okay. There was only one towel in the bathroom, a half of roll of toilet paper, no fridge and no ice machine on the floor. The water from the shower got all over the bathroom floor due to no shower door (the design) so with no extra towels in the room, that got messy. Bed was comfy. The rooftop bar was a nice touch that stayed open late, but definitely more for a younger crowd i feel, played loud “club” music mainly. Possibly because it was a Saturday night. The front desk staff were very nice and the valet guy was very nice and helpful. Location was very convenient to the event we were going to downtown so we could walk. Not sure if i would stay again, i will probably try out a different place next time i get to Birmingham.
I had booked this property under the assumption it was a 4 star hotel, as noted on Expedia, but there is no way it is a 4 star. The lobby is nice but the rest of the hotel is quite “tired” and in need of a refresh. Scuffed furniture in the room, a view of industrial pipes out the window. Cigarette butt in the hallway Sat morning. This is fine for a 2 star hotel, and maybe my assumption was wrong, but it appears Expedia rates this as a 4 star.
Staff Excellent! Eveything Else, Not Good! Beds are Super Firm, Furniture is Very Worn, Chipped paint and dents everywhere, fabric is worn on the seating, nightstands are painted and peeling, the room is very small and tight. the windows are so thin you hear every sound you can think of at night, people walking, talking, car doors closing, regular street traffic, I kept thinking a window must be open. The bathroom shower and sink are very nice but even the ceiling had rust marks and the door was worn in the corners. You could just tell that the property really needed a lot of upgrading, it looks like they tried to do a couple of nice things and left everything else shabby. Not good at all. They could have at least put in a mini fridge next to the desk, that would have been a nice plus for guests. Valet Mike was great and so were the front desk ladies and the cleaning staff. I would only stay here if you need to be in this exact location. The lobby is very pretty but I don't enjoy looking at furniture in such poor condition in my room. :-(
Most comfortable!!
Roof top bar lacking in wine choice. When asked about the wine we were told, white, red or rose. No really good choices. Staff is excellent at front desk and valet parking fast, friendly and helpful.
All of the staff, from reception to the valet, were so friendly and welcoming.
Great, central location. Valet drivers were friendly and it was easy to get to and from the hotel. The rooms did the job, but this is an older hotel and could do with some renovations. There aren't any usb ports so make sure you have a cube! Only one side of the bed had a plug, which was a bit inconvenient. Also, the old elevators make a lot of noise and we could hear these during the night. Good for a basic hotel, without any frills.
Great location and great staff.
The staff was amazing!! We had a great stay. Room was clean and bed was comfy.
The most popping rooftop in Birmingham… you take that as you’d like to. Rooms are in need of an update. There’s like one power outlet in the whole room, no towel rods or hooks near shower. No fridge or cool box. No smart TV. Carpet and wallpaper peeling. Staff was nice and overnight valet is great.
Very cute! Only complaint is I wish there was a small fridge or microwave in our room.
All of the staff was super nice and helpful! We loved the rooftop bar area.
Ok, I've been to Birmingham a lot and stayed in a lot of the Hilton properties, so I thought I'd try the Redmont as I was interested in staying in this area of town. Good: * Location is in walking distance to a lot of neat restaurants on 20th and other areas * If you like older, restored properties you'll appreciate the rooms here * Staff was super friendly for the most part Quirky: * The elevators feel like the original to the hotel. Very noisy and small. * While the bathroom was very pretty the lack of a shower door resulted in water flooding my floor each morning. I tried aiming the shower head back and away and it didn't help. The ledge was pitched towards the floor so all of the water that hit it ran onto the floor. Regardless, they were super kind to refresh the towels daily when I asked since the ones they provided got drenched from me cleaning up the water. * There was no trash can in the bathroom. There is only one in the room by the desk. * The rooftop bar is a little hard to find. You have to go to the Penthouse and can only reach it on elevator 2 even though there are buttons for it in the other elevators. Once there, only the little inside bar was open when I visited and it was very loud. The outside was nice to walk around and it is probably great when the whole place is open on nice evenings. * I asked if there were any upgrades when I checked in and was told I was in an upgraded room already since it was on a high floor (it was not an upgrade-just the first room the app offered at check-in). When I asked again I was told it was high-floor, away from elevator, but it was directly across from the elevator. I'm Diamond, but it hasn't gone to my head. If you don't want to upgrade me just say that you can't. I didn't make a fuss about it, and yes, there were better rooms available. * I asked for a beverage menu at the lobby bar one night and was told they don't have one. They just asked what I wanted and pointed out the bottles. * There is a coffee shop attached to the lobby that you can charge to your room. It basically only has coffee drinks (no food). I just got a cup of coffee here. When I asked for cream and sugar, she handed me a couple of coffee mate cups and a tray of packets, so I had to add these standing next to the cash register. I didn't realize people behind me thought I was still in line. Seemed weird to not have an area off to the side to add these things. Otherwise, the coffee was excellent. The bad: * Valet only here for $38 a night. I decided to park in the BHM parking deck 4 about half a block away for $9 a night and had no problems at all. There is a surface lot across the street but some reviews online stated their car was broken into. There is also 15 minute and 2 hour street parking in front of the hotel which was convenient for checking out. * Wifi was a completely unsecured network (nothing like the usual Hilton Wifi sign-on process). * I had a few maintenance issues in the room. They did come replace a light bulb (a CFL relic) with another one. The safe was locked but 1234 opened it. The wall was smashed in from the door hitting it. There was some water leaking from something onto the carpet in the room. Would I stay here again? Well, if the price was right and knowing what I know now I probably would. I just would not pay a lot more than the other Hilton properties.
Cool hotel. Room was nice and the bed was just right. All the staff there were kind and helpful. Got shrimp n grits at breakfast, divine. Great coffee, too. The hotel is three blocks from restaurants and bars, easy to walk to. Easy to get a Lyft to/from Coca-Cola Amphitheater. Can walk to/from Amphitheater, just go straight up Richard Arrington Blvd N. Everyone we encountered in Birmingham at the hotel, restaurants, and Amphitheater were so nice! I look forward to going again sometime.
Some of the rooms don’t have AC. The description says they all do. They all do not. If you’re lucky you will get a room with AC if not they might say “maintenance is coming to look at” but they aren’t coming. We demanded a different room and fortunately they were amenable. Our new room was much better.
The staff is excellent and friendly and I wouldn’t want to harm a place of business where they’re so nice. On the plus side, friendly staff and very convenient to attractions and the Coca Cola Amphitheater. But the negatives are real, and people should realize the surrounding area is deserted and feels unsafe with many unsavory characters outside at all hours of the day and night. Also, when we checked in they tried to give us a room (311 I believe) that was literally like a closet. It had no windows. Is that even legal? They switched us to a far nicer room on the 9th floor when I requested a room with a window, but even the nicer room wasn’t very nice. The elevator makes a horrible noise, and we could hear it all night from our room, and the carpet and decor were just shabby. Again, very nice staff and nothing against them, but I would look elsewhere if I had it to do again.
Great hotel except the roof bar should be open before 4pm and on Sundays
Hotel was fine-looks to be an older building that’s been updated. Common areas were a little unkept. Minor room things I noted: room AC did not feel like it ever really cooled off, he bathroom sink faucet never heated up warm water & there’s only 2 pillows on each full size bed. Overall, since it was a quick trip, so it was fine. Front desk staff was warm.
Great location and friendly staff.
The room was overall dusty and the windows were dirty. You could see where someone’s face had been pressed against the glass and hand prints. The bathroom was dirty and there was no trash can in the actual bathroom. Our room was located behind the elevator and all day/night we could hear the creaks of the elevator going up and down which disturbed our sleep. The air conditioning was not working correctly. We went from being drenched in sweat to absolutely freezing multiple times in one night. The price was awful high for a subpar stay.
Hotel is very unique and located in downtown Birmingham. Surrounded by the business district. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.
Great location!
The location and a large room with a big comfortable bed. The roof top bar was fun and reasonably priced
The bathroom door wouldn’t close
Every staff member was awesome, helpful and friendly. I recommend.
The room was very comfortable. We had a corner room with bedroom separated from separate seating area by a hallway which housed closets and coffee station. The bathroom had a large shower with rain type shower head. The only negative was no towel bar and water pressure was a little low. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The valet service for car was prompt.
