We stayed at this hotel during our family short trip to the Peak District. On arrival:to the hotel you have to negotiate a busy roundabout. It has a small car park that fills up fast so get there early! £4 for a 24 hour stay. ( I thought this was reasonable) you pay on a machine at the check in desk. The hotel was very modern and clean. Check in was easy and we were given a room on the second floor at the back of the hotel. Air conditioning was an amazing bonus during the hot weather. And the double double glazing kept the road noise to a minimum. At the time of our stay the lift was out of order so we had to use the stairs which wasn’t a problem for us but could be for some. Ten minutes walk into the town centre but be warned you have to cross some busy roads!
I was torn between 3 and 4 stars for the rating but a couple of negatives led me towards 3. The lift was unexpectedly out-of-order and I was on the top (third) floor, which is OK for me as an able-bodied people but the stairs became a bit of chore over a 6-night stay. As a pedestrian walking into town, I had to navigate a busy three-lane junction of the roundabout and had a couple of near misunderstandings with traffic. The hotel site is almost designed to keep pedestrians out, extending the walk from town unnecessarily unless you are happy to stretch a limb or two to climb over the fence and clamber down via a well-used shortcut; possibly not advisable after a night out though. I arrived late and had not pre-booked a specific room, so had no complaints when the receptionist could only allocate me a room facing the roundabout. On the first night, the traffic noise bothered me a little, but I barely noticed it after that. The room had triple glazing that could still be opened to get a bit of fresh air as needed. The aircon worked well in the face of the oppressive heatwave, and I slept well each night and was able to work from the hotel room during the day via the paid-for Wi-Fi. The room decor and furniture were standard Travelodge and, as ever, lacked enough storage or desk space. A change of sheets would have been nice once over the stay but the best one can get is a refill of clean towels and the bins emptied. The bathroom was larger than expected whilst the shower power was rather weak. The staff were overall friendly and helpful, as much as any Travelodge employee has the right to be. I had breakfast on the final morning and it was pretty good in content and price, certainly better than my memories from a few years back of other Travelodges, with edible sausages being a welcome change. Although the bar shut at 11PM each night, it was very reasonably priced for a hotel. There is a Wetherspoons not far on the walk into town, which also provides good value and was open until 1AM each night.
Super helpful and friendly staff along with a clean hotel, bedroom and bathroom. Would stay again 100%
Me and my daughter stayed here the weekend and wow. Every single member of staff were so friendly and helpful. Room Was spotless and modern. Check out at 12 is a huge plus. Breakfast eas delicious and plentiful. I usually avoid travel lodges but this one was great.
Hotel location ideal for what I need. Room usual standard so no complaints. However visit was let down by rude receptionist who checked me out on Saturday morning
The lift was out of order, allocated room on 3rd floor so unable to access due to a disability, was then allocated a substandard room overcrowded with beds and none of the extra amenities I paid extra for the standard plus room. I was charged the same for the substandard room.
Friendly staff. Great stay.comfy bed. All clean. Great shower and wash products..Breakfast was delicious with a great choice of quality products
The night auditor (I believe her name was Angie) was lovely and so helpful. The manageress (Leslie) was also very friendly and happy to help. Also spoke to one of the evening staff called Jeremy, very good at his job. Great team and lovely hotel. Looks more akin to a 3.5 star hotel, then 2
Pleasant staff, tidy clean hotel, comfy beds, good price and not too far for an able bodied person to walk into town for a bit of shopping or a few beers. Only £4 to park on site for 24hrs. Will stay there next time I am in the area.
We had a good stay. Staff are amazing and nothing is too much trouble. Not a fan of dogs in the restaurant , I thought this isnt allowed however at breakfast there was a dog which didnt appear to be an assistance dog. The room did have a strange smell, the air con was lovely but noisy and the toilet didnt flush well and would get stuck.but otherwise was a good enough stay. People were quite noisy at night
Lovely hotel, we stayed here with our baby and it was a lovely stay, would stay here again.
I have stayed in a lot of Travelodges over the past few years and my considered opinion is that this is the best one yet. It used to be an Ibis and was a little rundown, but it has been revamped and it is impossible to fault the hotel. The location, on a busy roundabout, isn't anything they could do something about, but the hotel itself is excellent. The exterior is very clean, with plenty of parking. It is less than 10 minutes brisk walk to the cricket ground and I was there for the festival. They're welcome from staff was friendly and when I told them I was there for the four nights I was given extra coffee, milk and sweeteners. There is a lovely bar and restaurant so you can get a cooked breakfast or an evening meal. I didn't use these, but it was good to see the offer was there there and it seemed to be well used. My room was excellent. The air conditioning was outstanding - very handy in the heatwave - and the bathroom was clean, the shower had instant hot water and there was everything you needed. My bed was comfortable and clean. There were working usb sockets and plugs at each side of the bed and there was a comfortable chair in the room, as well as a desk and chair. It was lovely and quiet. I had paid a little extra to specify my room and my advice would be to take one on the back of the hotel, so you are away from the roundabout. I would highly recommend this lovely hotel if you are visiting Chesterfield and the Peak District
Generally a good stay. Hotel in great location, clean & good night's sleep. Stay was ruined by the following situation. Housekeeper knocked on our door at 11.45am obviously to check if we had left. When I shouted hello she walked off. When we left (Before 12) I told the housekeeper she shouldn't knock on doors before 12 & she said she was knocking to see if we needed any fresh towels. Not only is this not something Travelodge does, but why didn't she ask when I answered the door knock? I told reception on leaving, who said they would look into it.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had a fantastic stay at Travelodge Chesterfield Town Centre. The hotel is exceptionally well managed, and the high standards are evident throughout every aspect of the guest experience. A special mention must go to Lesley, the Hotel Manager, who is a true credit to the company. Her professionalism, leadership, and dedication to customer service are clearly reflected in the excellent atmosphere and smooth operation of the hotel. She goes above and beyond to ensure guests feel welcome and valued. The entire team are outstanding at what they do—friendly, professional, and always willing to assist. Nothing was too much trouble, and they were consistently accommodating throughout my stay. The hotel was comfortable, welcoming, and well maintained. I would highly recommend Travelodge Chesterfield Town Centre to anyone visiting the area and would not hesitate to stay here again.
Stayed a night during a house move. Good value for the price and the onside eaterie offered some nice healthy choices to eat with good "meal deal" price. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Well done Barbara - first week in the job but friendly and welcoming. Handy location for Chesterfield city centre. If you need a convenient place to stay that doesnt break the bank, it's a solid choice.
Angie the front desk clerk was really helpful and friendly Rooms nice and clean Relatively quite if you’re at the back of the building, however if you’re at the front you can hear the main road when it begins to get busy Costs are often low Bed are relatively comfy Basically a budget premier Inn Would recommend
Reason for my rating 5 - is when I arrived I had excellent service/support from Dominik at the front desk nothing was a problem for him extremely helpful and also very pleasant with a positive attitude and professional at the same time, would highly recommend this hotel based on the first contact from Dominik. Excellent well done Dominik.
Great value no problems apart from parking was a bit hit and miss
We had a great experience at this hotel. Dominic was very friendly and really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The 2 members of staff that were working were extremely busy and there was a lot going on so they were unable to serve food which was a bit inconvenient. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff that we came into contact with and they were all really friendly. There was also a blonde lady that was working that was really friendly.
Had a really lovely stay at Travelodge Chesterfield. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and in a great location, but what really made the visit stand out was the amazing staff. Claire and Matt were both incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was okay and made us feel genuinely valued as guests.
The hotel was immaculate- very clean. The bedroom was spacious and spotless. It had been renovated and so is all nice and new. The staff on reception and in the bar/restaurant were very friendly, helpful and kind- really excellent. It was quiet, modern and clean. I would definitely stay there again- great value for money. We liked the fact that we could have a family room for 3 adults- many hotels don't do this anymore and you have to buy 2 rooms. Well done Travelodge Chesterfield Centre!
All the staff we met at the Chesterfield Town Travelodge during our five-night stay were welcoming, friendly, courteous, helpful and efficient. The hotel has recently been modernised and is a vast improvement on the old-style Travelodges, which were always "pared down". It always looked like cost savings were the senior management's main objective, not the customer. I hope that we will find such improvements at all the Travelodges we might stay at in the future.
Toilets stink of sewer most of the day Mattress lopsided Breakfast not worth £10 Need lot of improvement for a hotel that charges £200+ busy nights Between a highway and busy roundabout roads
Exceptional Travelodge The rooms are very comfortable and the beds are extremely comfortable. Breakfast was well presented and well cooked. In all excellent value. The one thing that stood out above anything else was the staff. Absolutely superb all round always a smile and so helpful. It was an excellent stay and I look forward to returning for another stay
Fabulous upgraded Travelodge. Rooms spacious and clean Staff all very friendly and welcoming. Had dinner and breakfast excellent
Excellent value for money one night stopover in a recently refurbished hotel. Man on reception was polite and informative for check in, only £4 for 24hrs parking. Only slight negative was the shower.....either very hot or very cold, mixer not doing what it should, so it needs looking at (room 302) Would recommend and return based on this visit.
Staff not interested in noise levels within the hotel and when reporting this, NO one on front desk to complain too. Would not recommend. It's cheap for a reason!!!!! The room was clean and tidy, which is the only positive point to make about the hotel.
I stayed in chesterfield town centre hotel for 4 nights, the atmosphere was amazing the staff are all friendly and welcoming. The room was outstandingly clean and the value was brilliant. Would highly recommend and will definitely be staying again
Stopped here a year ago wow what a difference , the hotel looks fantastic, I had tea and breakfast both were amazing , well cooked and the staff obviously enjoy working there, Had a issue with the WiFi the lady who was the manager I'm sorry don't remember your name sorted this straight away as I really needed to complete my work, thank you also for printing my work for me you saved me so much time, The rooms were warm and comfortable and such an improvement when you work away from home a lot to find a town centre hotel at such a great price and clean and welcoming well all I can say keep up the great work I will most definitely recommend you to not only my company my friends
Still here but cannot wait to leave a review of the wonderful start we have had to our stay. Booking and check in couldn’t have been easier. Our room is spotless and everything in a good state. Having just had a meal in the restaurant and bar, we’re beyond impressed. The quality of food for the price we paid is amazing. Our children enjoyed their meals as did we. It was hot, fresh and delicious. The service here is faultless, Dominic and Laura couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly and they genuinely seem to enjoy their job. We feel like we have found a hidden gem here and everything ran smoothly to say it hasn’t long been open. We will definitely return 😊
Paying guests are not priorty in this hotel. A local council contract, confirmed by reception staff, denotes that these guests take priorty. Dogs were barking through the night and 'guests' smoking' weed by the front door was off putting. Did not feel safe staying in the hotel.
We only stayed one night as we were just passing through. We couldn't fault our stay. Friendly welcome when we checked in. The room was clean, fresh and comfortable. Would stay again without hesitation.
Perfect for a one night stay. We stayed here as a pit stop on our way up north. The room was clean and spacious. We were however woken up at midnight by the fire alarm however there was no fire. The hotel has just been refurbished. Would recommend.
Lovely hotel, great staff, comfy beds and even though on busy roundabout very quiet. Parking payable but free as we had a blue badge. Stayed before when it was an ibis and it was just as good this time. Staff couldn’t do enough to help us which was lovely. Hadn’t booked breakfast but went down and could pay on way in. Full breakfast, help yourself and plenty of choice and nicely cooked. The only downside is if you want to walk into town or the retail park crossing is a nightmare. They need more pedestrian crossings!
I booked a 2-night stay with breakfast and the on-line booking was accepted. Unknown to me however, was that major renovations were to start during my stay including the closure of all breakfast/dining facilities. I was not even told this when I checked in. Hotel should have been closed during such extensive renovation work; it was a building site.
Although there was renovation work being carried out it didn’t detract from our stay, our room was very good ,nice walk in shower ,all the usual facilities,tv ,desk tea, coffee etc etc .Staff were excellent , very friendly and so helpful,Callum was a hoot ,but professional at the same time ,it makes all the difference when you arrive at your venue and you are welcomed with a smile ,and a happy bunch of people looking after us ,we had a good choice at breakfast ,and in the evening we had a very enjoyable meal, and £25 a night for our room was so reasonable,I’m thinking that’s taking into consideration for the refurbishment, but it didn’t affect our stay at all ,and it’s in a good position just 5mile from the M1,very easy access for the accommodation,so we would stay here again when visiting Chesterfield for sure
The room was clean and tidy and the bed was comfortable, which made for a good night’s sleep. I did run into a small issue when entering the room, as the key instructions didn’t match the lock, so I had to go downstairs to ask for assistance. The receptionist was friendly and polite and the issue was sorted quickly, which I appreciated. The bathroom was a bit disappointing, as the shower head had very few water holes, making showering quite slow,so I chose not to wash my hair as a result. The toilet reservoir was a bit slow to refill after flushing, which was a minor inconvenience. Unfortunately, breakfast was the biggest downside. Mouldy bread was available for making toast. Although a staff member apologised and removed it when I pointed it out, it put me off having any baked items. Overall, it’s a pleasant place for a one-night stay, but I wouldn’t opt for breakfast in the future due to this experience.
We had to visit Chesterfield as our Bulldog needed an op to open up his airways and there is a very highly regarded surgeon there and we needed to be nearby the night before and also the night of the surgery and the hotel knew about this and we can only say the staff were absolutely fantastic ( the surgery went well ) they could not have done any more if they had tried although there is refurb going on they gave us a room near a lift as there was risk during the night that we may need to get to the vet urgently but he wanted him to be with us we were 3 minutes away and he was on stand by . I can only thank the team so much for everything I spend over 150 nights away in hotels on business every year but this was a totally different set of requirements and they totally smashed it even letting us park right outside the door in case we needed to get to the vet urgently , offering us complimentary coffee when we were in the lobby awaiting calls from the vets at a very anxious time to constantly asking about him . Thank you so much to all of you.
Stayed here many times when up visiting family when it was Ibis. Just had a 4 night stay with the kids and couldn't fault it. Always bear in mind the price versus what you expect....and I'll be honest, I travel at lot with work and have stayed in hotels across the country that are three/four times the price and classed as budget and fall short. Thankfully the renovation work wasn't going off in full swing when we stayed but it is noted when booking. We had a family room on second floor that had just been renovated....smelt a bit "painty etc" but was expecting that due to the works. Bed was comfy and shower hot. We had breakfast and a meal on one night. Slow service but then it's not overly staffed and didn't mind as we were in no rush. All staff were friendly and couldn't help enough and housekeeping staff were always friendly, chatty and would always assist with any top up/cleaning requests. Agree with other comments RE crossing the roundabout....but if you come out of the hotel and turn left then you can get the bridge over and adds a few more minutes to your journey....not Ideal for pedestrians but easily manageable. Couldn't fault it and back again in 9 days as I'll be doing another 650 mile round trip back to chessy for the football......why I don't know!
After reading previous reviews i was expecting the worse ... but on arrival the foyer /bar was clean and tidy. The lady on reception was exceptionally friendly and helpful, i think she wss the manageress . She explained that the hotel was undergoing refurbishment but arranged for my family to have rooms on 2nd floor which had already been refurbished.. the rooms were clean . Good bedding . Great large walk in shower . Tea and coffee facilities and extra pillows. All the staff were very friendly.. breakfast was buffet style , cooked . Along with toast jams croissants etc all adequate ... would i stay here again ? Most definitely especially for the price we paid .When refurbishment is completed it will be an e cellent chouce for Chesterfield town centre
3 out of 4 floors being decorated/refurbished actthe time of our stay so hotel smells of paint and workmen everywhere including in the cafe whihc they appear to be using as a breakout area. Shower was a barely warm trickle. Window did not shut properly. Hotel located on a very busy roundabout which has no facilities for pedestrians to navigate so walking into town was an adventure not to be repeated
We stayed in November 10 -12 we were awakened on both mornings by building work being completed outside of our hotel door . We were left disapointed and wishing we had stayed in the Premier Inn
5 minutes from town centre so good location but next to Rother Way so traffic noise was noticeable. Reception & bar area nice and staff friendly. Room was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed but room overall in need of refurbishment...lots of stains on carpet, shower pressure poor and bathroom generally very dated. We had breakfast both mornings..£9.99 was a reasonable price with choice of cereals/croissants etc ...no hot buffet option due to low occupancy but cooked to order & was tasty. Only complaints were that the juice was very watery & the "thick" bread was very thin.
This hotel is know a Travelodge it is in a very good location in centre of town plenty of parking which has a small fee the hotel was clean rooms clean and a nice breakfast had very good value for money excellent staff hassle free trip hotel has good phone signal and WiFi
Good stay, cheap and good breakfast, nice staff. Refurb needs a bit more attention to detail, decorating poor, painted over cracks and holes, chipped wood work.
Great location, smack in the centre of chesterfield, and ample parking. Very clean and quiet and staff very friendly.
Very uncomfortable mattress, the radiator left a terrible smell in the room, very cold then too hot because the radiator is very old and you can’t set it up properly
Very welcoming and all staff were pleasant it was lovely and cant wait to come and stay again and try the food next time as there finishing that side things off
I left my hair straighteners in the room and didn't realise until I was on the way back to London I called ibis and they hadn't been handed in. The cleaners were waiting to go in and I found out they were contractors so they must of knocked them. I've since found out the hotel is permanently closed I never did get my straighteners back
We stayed for one night here, the young man on reception was very polite on our arrival. Our room was fine, however there was no hot water for a shower. The hotel has parking and is a short walk from the town centre over a busy road. Overall a pleasant stay.
The room size is ideal, the staff at the reception is friendly. The location is handy to local bus.
The carpet is ok as many reviews said. Some area's carpet in the communal area is quite old.The most uncomfortable thing is the highway beside is really super noisy even when I close the window. Really a disturbance to my sleep.
I am a regular customer and Ibis is always a decent location for me after a night out in the area, I have probably stayed here over 15 times.
VERY VERY POOR - RUDE STAFF MEMBER. On attending in the evening, it was hinted by the man that I hadn't paid for my room. Not so rude, but a bit of a bizarre comment as he would've known that the room already paid for on his system. Even worse was the next day, when after buying coffee mug for the machine (same evening receptionist hadn't informed me of a time limit on the following day's time limit... 10am limit when you check out at 12 and might want a coffee before just checking out... pathetic really). What was most offensive was a large receptionist (saying large for descriptive purposes) rudely shouting across the room to me, informing me about the (half-full, tasteless) coffee. IBIS must have luxury hotels to pay for elsewhere, because to cheapskate on what Was a free coffee, and a nice touch, to charge people (PER MUG not room) and then give them a half full, flavourless cup, is just lowering the standards. Your hotels arent nice enough to get by on quality alone. They lack good customer service and atmosphere and room quality, in my recent experience. Very poor to be treated this way, anyway. PS the bathroom sink stunk of sewerage.
Location was good
Having to fill the bin with water in order to flush the toilet was a pain Wall tiles behind the basin waste were missing Many bathroom floor tiles were cracked and broken
Good for money
but it’s tired and dirty The carpets need replacing as filthy and the lift needs a clean
Stayed at chesterfield ibis, a few times as usual the facilities are perfect for my need,
Bed not to comfortable & need of sitcom in rooms
It was very central and the beds were comfy. The staff were very friendly.
The roundabout is a nightmare to cross on foot. The room feels very old and tired - the hairdryer didn't work, the tap dribbled and there were no plug sockets by the beds. There was no air con so we were very hot during the night and the bathroom wasn't incredibly clean.
Difficult to open the door with the key. Bathroom didnt Smell very fresh.
Staff were nice and friendly
Lift was a bit sketchy
Lift wasn't working and hairdryer didn't wory
Everything
Air condition in the room as fan didn't help with the heat
Staff helpful
There was nowhere the cross the busy main road to get to the centre. A zebra crossing needed
Who was the usual same old same old.
Where a budget hotel brilliant.
The staff were excellent couldn’t fault them at all the room was fine clean comfortable bed nice en-suite breakfast ok
The sat nav kept sending me around several time till I spoke to three little boys who said in the car park of ALDI then had to round the back of the car park there it was so three little boys were better than the sat nav.
Nothing
Room smelt like a morgue, large stain on floor in bathroom staff on front desk not very friendly and gave a room away after I was told no rooms where ready for me, bar not open till
Good location, with parking
TV sound almost useless
Clean, good food
Nothing
Quite basic but can't fault for the price. Beds and bathroom were clean.
Cheap and near the town.
Difficult to access on foot due to the busy main road and no pedestrian crossing.
The property does need a major overhaul. It’s not dirty as such I’m sure the staff do their best to keep it clean and the cleaning lady I saw was nice and had a quick chat to her. However it’s just dated and needs renovating throughout. There are questionable stains on carpets including the room I stayed in
Toilet was broken in 1st room so got moved and then in 2nd room their were bulbs all out Bar staff were rude
Location, pleasant staff, nice breakfast
Nothing
For the price I paid, the room was clean, breakfast was fine, and the staff were great!
The location, if you are not driving. To walk to the main town centre, you have to negotiate a very busy large roundabout. There is a ‘pathway’, across the main road, but if you suffer from vertigo, it’s awful. If you don’t, it’s a bit of a longer walk but great, once in Chesterfield main centre. Good bus services to get to the Peaks. Chesterfield train station is further away from this hotel than you think, especially with the roundabout negotiating with bags😂
Very clean & comfy - would stay again
Nothing.
A very nice, warm welcome from the gentleman on the reception when checking me in!! Ran through everything even though I've been here many times (not a bad thing!!)
Having to check out!!
Great rooms, especially for the money we paid. Very clean and staff were friendly
Position of hotel is a bit awkward as getting across the main road isn't much fun. Hotel itself is absolutely fine
Room was very clean, plenty of choice for continental and traditional breakfast. Location was excellent ,close to shops and tourist venues.
The hotel is situated on a very busy 24 hour, and ,noisy roundabout. On the hottest nights the windows had to be closed. No air conditioning in the room althogh a fan was supplied the room was very hot and made sleep almost impossible.
Great location, just off the motorway, but also central to town.
The hotel is run down & needs refurbished. We had 33-degree weather, and with only a small portable fan, it just wasn't comfortable. With the hotel being on a busy roundabout, it wasn't practical to have the window open. Also, there is no fan in the bathroom, so Steam from the shower had nowhere to escape, except the bedroom. We left after 1 night, and we were grateful we were able to get a refund for the 2nd night.
It was ok
Breakfast
It was ok
The room
We liked the spacious, air conditioned dining/lounge area -and finished our evenings there, chatting and having a drink.Room fans are a good idea! Lovely, helpful and friendly staff.
N/ A
I think the location is perfect, the staff was very welcoming and helpful. Lovely size room and brilliant shower.
There is no information in the room about what is available for food or times available. The windows were great because you can open them widely, but they do not keep the traffic noise out at night.
Nice hotel
Noise from traffic
