We stayed at the Galleon for 1 night on our visit to Chatsworth house. Chesterfield was a small town on our tour and Chatsworth was a definitly worth to see. So the hotel was clean and room had enough space.

BUT as we came from Edinburgh which is 4+ hours train ride, they coundn't offer the room for us because we were 30 mins early. And when we asked for at least a table to sit, wait and rest a little, they showed us bar stools. Honestly it is a little hard to pinpoint the time when you travel and 30 min should not be a problem if you are running a business based on travelers. But at least took our bags while we waited for rooms to be ready so thanks for that.

Expected English breakfast as rooms were over restaurant. Continental breakfast was a little awkward as we were with friends and wanted to eat together. Access to rooms from fire escape was difficult for older people.

A five minute walk from the station, room was spacious, comfortable and quiet. A good breakfast buffet.

Lovely big room and en suite bathroom. The biggest bathroom towels I've ever seen. Comfy and clean. We were able to store our luggage for the morning.

Nearly 2hr wait for our meal in the restaurant. Getting told our meal would arrive in 5mins, 15/20mins later it arrived. A complimentary bottle of water 👎 should have been a bit more thought put into that.

Nothing to dislike from arriving to leaving. The bedroom was extremely spacious, the bed was huge and so was the bathroom, shower gels & shampoo added touch. As for the continental breakfast there was plenty of choice, everything you could possibly think of and more. Would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

The hotel was in a very good location and the food in the restaurant was really good. Breakfast was also good with some nice continental options. Would stay again.

I went in the middle of a heat wave and despite their best efforts, the room was still really warm. As there is no air conditioning and not many windows, it required a fan to be on all the time, the noise of which made it difficult to sleep.

We liked everything about the hotel. The staff where amazing nothing was to much trouble and the hotel was spotless it one of the best hotels we have stayed inwe would recommend this hotel to anyone. We are coming back in September it is close to amenities and shops

I tried to arrange my luggage to be kept for the day but it didn’t eventually work as I couldn’t find the lady before I left. But this is very minor to the great place and great room I had at this location.

This is the second time we've stayed. We love the room sizes and the bathrooms. The furniture is so simple and fuss free which we love. The ginormous bath towels are amazing and we've ordered them for our home. The place is spotless. The breakfast is lovely with lots of continental bits available so all good.

There is only one thing that dont work for us but its not a complaint. Its more and observation for feedback. We appreciate there is no tap where the kettle is but we don't like that the kettle is filled and the water stands overnight until we wake up and want a cuppa in the morning. We appreciate bottled water has a cost but would like it available. Not filled bottles in the fridge. But that's our taste and we made up our mind to suit what we like we will bring our own bottled water if we stay again.

The breakfast was a really nice continental, and plenty to choose from. Plenty of free tea and coffee. Bathroom well stocked and we were even supplied with a fan because of the heat .

Was a bit awkward getting breakfast when people already sitting at the breakfast bar

Room was spotlessly clean , bed comfortable and lovely tea /coffee/ drink facilities. Would highly recommend Spire View and would definitely stay here again.

It is better to have coffee making facilities in the room instead of on the landing. No Sevettes are available to wipe up spillages if made and to use when having breakfast. Fridge door rubs against the carpet runner, making access difficult.

Lovely quaint hotel/restaurant. Breakfast was lovely too. Room and bathroom lovely and clean a good size room too.

Te restaurant and bar closed Mondays, obviously we missed the details regarding this. A little disappointed as it was my birthday and we were looking forward to having a meal and a couple of drinks to celebrate. Hey ho the lovely girl told us about the spread eagle to we went there for something to eat and drink instead.

The location is perfect. The 2 pm check in is excellent. The room is lovely and the breakfast buffet is marvellous (the lady who sets out the food and looks after the room is also very good)

I didn't like the fact we had to eat breakfast in our rooms. I don't eat cereal, so there wasn't enough of a selection for me. More fruit would have been nice, There wasn't a shower mat in the shower, so it was really slippy or even some little grippy bumps.

We loved the location, the attention to detail and the lovely welcoming nature of the staff.

I have stayed here before so knew what to expect. The rooms are well designed and furnished and more generous than many. A desk/dressing table is often optional but provided here (in the two rooms I have stayed in). Breakfast is set out in the common hall with a plentiful range of continental with cereals. It is not cooked but more than sufficient to start the day. Location is convenient for the town centre and station.

It suited me well though I like a medium hard bed which may not suit everyone. As access is via the restaurant it is important to arrive in good time before closing.

The central location for the city, surrounding areas and access to the M1 made it a perfect place to stay. Also having a great restaurant just below the property was convenient. The Continental breakfast selection was well thought out. We requested a Gluten free option, and they provided a fantastic choice. The room was warm quiet and exceptionally clean, we had an enormous comfy super King bed. Absolutely everything had been provided for our comfort. We would highly recommend the Spire for it quality.

The staircase into the property were a little precarious, especially when carrying our bags up in the rain. Both of us are in our 60's . Having said that, it wouldn't stop us staying here again,as it was such a great find.

Room was clean, spacious and well presented. Breakfast options were good. I was in a hurry so could take a porridge pot and a yoghurt away with me, making my morning a lot easier! Staff were superbly friendly when I arrived - and the update on the key fob is very helpful too!

The only thing that makes me nervous is the car park can be very slippery when wet - it's a minor complaint but it does fill me with fear walking from my car to the entrance - especially if I've been in the office and may be wearing heels! Not sure how it can be rectified really and appreciate it's a tough one to comment on.

My room was overlooking the main road - noisy even with the excellent double glazing. No soap in the shower!

No lift to our room Had to use fire escape to leave the property. No breakfast room breakfast on the landing on the first floor. No kettle in the room to get a drink had to go on the landing for a cup of tea

The location was convenient, but unfortunately the overall condition of the room let the stay down

Room was not clean on arrival, with marks on surfaces, dirt inside drawers, and stains in the bathroom. There were also maintenance issues including a loose headboard and unstable toilet fittings. I reported this during the stay but received no response, although someone entered the room while we were out to fix the toilet without informing us. Overall disappointing and not reflective of the price paid.

Lovely staff and a very comfortable and spotless room and en suite. My only issue was with the breakfast facilities and lay out. Far too cramped and looked like someone had just said, "That will just have to do". With a huge dining room downstairs, this breakfast area was a best, disappointing and at worst, dreadful. Which is a shame, because the room was outstanding. Oh while I'm here, the outside metal stairs were really steep bloody dangerous and I'm astounded that they pass any kind of health and safety inspection. No one was around in the morning, so I had to use the outside stairs whilst trying to carry a suitcase and trying to keep my balance. Considering the price, it wasn't a great experience.

See above. Liked the staff. Loved the room. The rest wasn't anywhere near good enough and the outside stairs were downright dangerous. How anyone thinks this is acceptable is beyond belief.

I can’t recommend this hotel enough. We arrived from our flight about 3 hours before check-in but the staff/ management were so friendly and allowed us to leave our bags while we went off for a wander. Later that evening we all went back to the hotel where we were shown our rooms and explained how things work in the morning (breakfast set up, how to access the building after hours, etc.). Michelle the manager couldn’t have been nicer or more welcoming. There was about 15 of my family in Chesterfield for the night for a family funeral. We never made a booking at the Galleon for dinner but everyone just navigated there (although some were staying in the sister hotel while others were in different hotels in the town). We didn’t have a booking but that didn’t stop them accommodating us. Finnley was unbelievable and well able to handle our loud, Irish family get together. The food was delicious and everything cooked to perfection. When I made the booking I forgot to mention that some of us are coeliac and Michelle and the accommodation assistant ensured that there was gluten free bread and options for the continental breakfast in the morning. Everyone went above and beyond for us, thanks so much to everyone in the Spire View at the Galleon!

Breakfast was awful. I didn't check the smallprint and expected a hot breakfast, however it was a small continental one.

The room was really classily appointed and much larger than I'd expected. It was also spotlessly clean and made up. Breakfast food was good continental as expected, with lots of options. Fresh milk in the fridge and lots of lovely pastries and different breads to toast. Bed huge and very comfy.

The coffee was not ideal for me. I brought my own coffee bags :) Shower (ensuite) v small but only overnight so no real problem for me..

Sadly nothing the hotel can do about it but over the road is a nightclub and both Sunday and Monday they were blurting out music. Our room had the coffee/tea making facilities outside which meant people understandably used the facilities but sometimes at more unsociable times which was noisy. Nup

I think the best value in Chetserfield, Great accomodation, Great Staff, and Great Food, at significantly better prices than the competition.
