Winchester Royal Hotel

Location very good. Near the high street and shopping area. Staff very nice and helpful. Good choice and nice buffet breakfast. Bar area where you could order food day and evening. Room was nice and was garden facing. Facilities to make a brew, good shower and TV. All in all a nice stay

Good room, we were upgraded to a suite, I didn't ask why but didn't mind at all. Walking distance to the Cathedral.

The room was lovely and the bed comfy.

The bathroom was mouldy and it was very noisy from the corridor. Why they only treated the far end of the shower and not the tap end is beyond me. Noticed a CCTV camera in the room as well. Not sure how I feel about that.

The breakfast was brilliant it set us for the day.We also had dinner on our last evening and enjoyed the meal. The staff were very friendly and very polite and helpful.

I didn’t find any fault at all. I will definitely check in again when we come back to Winchester

Tired decor. The milk in our room had gone off. The coffee at breakfast fell well below expectations. Our room was clean but the carpet was stained and looked like it needed a deep clean or replacing.

Pet stay cost of £25 per night and parking of £15 per night. The hotel is not as luxurious as the price suggests.

The room looked at a bit dated but it wasn't a bother because it met our needs very well.

I asked on reception for a room not on the ground floor. Room 113 was small, only 2 wall lights, one of which had no bulb. Having told reception, the bulb was replaced and a table light placed on the desk. The following day, despite being out from 9:00 until 2:00 my room was not serviced. I wanted to rest and refused service at the point. I did mention this on check out and was refunded a night’s parking.

Central location with the garden being a little oasis in the heart of WInchester. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I was very happy with the fact that they waived their parking fee because my wife is a disabled Blue Badge holder. The room was well equipped and clean with a very comfortable bed. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the cathedral, shops and restaurants, making it ideal for a short sightseeing stay. We will definitely stay here again!

The car park didn't appear to be accessible from the rear of the hotel, requiring a walk round to the front. If it is accessible then it's not well signposted. Booking.com appeared to allow you to select a room with walk-in shower but the actual booking does not actually include this requirement. It could be made clearer on the hotel's website what the disabled access is like and where it is situated.

Fantastic location and a lovely hotel. The bar serves great cocktails, and the staff gave excellent recommendations for other places to visit nearby.

The room felt a bit stuffy when we first arrived, but the fan in the cupboard, the open windows, and the mild weather quickly solved the problem.

I liked that the rooms were on the ground floor and fairly close together as we were with family. Very good choice for breakfast-very well presented and the hot food was cooked to perfection.

Great location in the centre of Winchester, modern comfortable rooms and beds in a wing overlooking a garden. Quiet despite central location. Reception team were welcoming. Pre dinner drinks in the garden were a nice experience.

We arrived early quite prepared to leave our bag in a secure place (as we were advised we could) but the room was ready. The room itself was really comfortable and the staff could not have been more friendly and efficient.

It was all lovely - and it is hard to see how it could have been better. The location is excellent for exploring Winchester.

I loved the bar/restaurant and being able to sit out in the garden with a lovely G & T. My room was clean and very comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating.

A mini fridge would have been a nice bonus.

The location was very central and as it was quite rainy this was very handy throughout our stay. The communal areas are comfortable and staff very attentive and friendly.

Good central location and period property has lots of character. Staff worked very hard to give good service and had moved us to an adjacent self catered property which was appreciated.

The period property needed quite a bit of updating and maintenance when you moved beyond the central areas into the guest accommodation.

The bed pillows were quite thick, most hotels have a choice of two pillows each & we prefer a softer one.

Coffee at breakfast is poor, if you want proper coffee you have to pay. Paying for parking is excessive, service at the drawing room is v slow and the electronic table service remotes don’t work or they’re just being ignored.

Expensive. Room on ground floor overlooking a wedding function that was going on when we checked in. Told no other rooms available to change! Room and bathroom old and tired looking!

Great choice to chose from full breakfast to cold meat very hot not cold plate.very clean as well .the room was very clean to look at.

We loved everything about the hotel, from the welcome we received upon arrival for the duration of our stay. We intend to visit again, but for a longer stay next time.

We found fault with only one small matter, but this did not distract from our enjoyment. Rather than a shower cubical, the shower head was in the bath with a screen that was slightly too small. Water spray then found its way onto the bathroom floor.

I stayed here for a night while visiting my son in Winchester. It’s probably a 3 star hotel in the centre of the city. I had a large double room with a super king bed, tea and coffee facilities and a small bathroom with a shower over the bath. It’s akin to a Premier Inn but not as modern. It was good for me for a night and very handy if you want a central location which is only a 10 min walk from the rail station. Pricewise it’s also good value too.

Pas de climatisation, pas de possibilité d'ouvrir les fenêtres en grand!! Plus de 30 degré dans la chambre, 2 ventilos mis à dispositions. Pour ouvrir les fenêtres, nous devons signer une décharge mais l'infos n'a pas été donné à accueil. Odeur de renfermé ++ dans le couloir menant à chambre. Check in et check out sans sourire.... Tarif parking + petit déjeuner à rajouter au prix de la chambre... tres nettement le moins bon rapport qualité prix de tout mon séjour de 3 semaines en angleterre

L'hôtel est idéalement situé à Winchester. Il est très calme et parfaitement propre, avec un personnel discret et efficace. Nous étions une famille de 4 et nous avons pu profiter de deux chambres très spacieuses dans la partie moderne du bâtiment (nous n'avions pas une très jolie vue, mais peu importe). Le jardin est tout simplement merveilleux (même si lors de notre séjour l'herbe était toute sèche après les terribles semaines de canicule). Nous avons très envie de revenir et de rester plus longtemps !

From check-in to check-out, everything went smoothly as could be. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Bedroom was spacious and extremely comfortable. With a number of little touches that make the difference. Breakfast was good without being brilliant - little room for improvement! Overall an excellent stay and experience - Thank you.

Breakfast could be a little better quality. The hot food was a little tired by the time we got to eat, which wasn't late (8:00am) On a positive note, the sausages were very tasty!

Not really anything to dislike. However if you choose to eat a lunch or evening meal be aware there isn’t very much choice for vegetarians, however, if you stay for breakfast - amazing everyone catered for.

Ground floor room facing garden - one window didn’t shut completely which meant we could hear people outside a lot of the time). The bar was understaffed (long wait and chaotic) and cocktails were weak. The room was characterless and rather depressing.

Dated decor. The room felt like it needed a deep clean with marks on walls, doors, carpet, etc. Breakfast items ran out very quickly, took a while to replace. Room was noisy as could hear people in and out. Some staff not friendly, others very friendly. Not a 4* IMO.

What a wonderful stay at the Winchester Royal. We had a family booking to celebrate a family wedding. From the beginning of our stay, nothing was too much trouble. They looked after us, they made everything so special for us. Housekeeping prepared the bride and grooms room with such lovely details such as swans and petals everywhere. The hotel has such amazing space with history and full of character. Breakfast was well organised and staff were so attentive. They went above and beyond from the moment we arrived. Tobias was such a great support to make it go as smoothly as possible. I’m so grateful to everyone.

Very quaint hotel! Perfect location in Winchester. 2 minutes from high street and 5 minutes from Cathedral. Very cosy and the garden is exceptional. Rooms are good and clean service. Breakfast buffet is fantastic. Bar prices are good. Love Winchester and love staying at the the Royal Hotel.

Ease of location to attractions and station also lovely garden area so felt like a holiday and relaxing - rooms had everything needed for a short stay and breakfast was good with choices for all

It's a lovely well kept hotel that retains it's charm my only thing I wasn't sure why we had a first and second floor rooms as we heard a family check in who were in the same situation - it didn't bother us apart from the stairs being older however they wanted to be near each other so perhaps room allocation needs to looked at

Das Hotel liegt mitten in der Stadt, sehr zentral und doch ruhig. Im schönen Garten kann man den Tag beginnen oder ausklingen lassen. Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen, auch der Service beim Frühstück war sehr angenehm zuvorkommend. Das Zimmer war groß und sauber, die Betten bequem Das Frühstück wird in einem tollen Wintergarten serviert, es bietet alles, was man sich wünscht.

Leider hatten wir ein Zimmer im „ground floor“, hier würde man dies eher mit Souterrain beschreiben. Der Weg dahin war lang und ging über mehrere Treppen, mit großem Gepäck nicht gerade einfach. Begleitet von einem unangenehmen, muffigen Geruch, der je weiter wir nach „unten“ kamen zugenommen hat. Im Zimmer war es unfassbar warm, ohne Klimaanlage, trotz Ventilator, unangenehm. Die Bilder der Buchung haben eine andere Sprache gesprochen, dadurch waren wir etwas enttäuscht.

The only thing I can say is that the shower soaked the bathroom floor. Couldn’t get it to adjust so it wouldn’t happen.
