Very soft bed, no good for my back. Noisy downstairs until nearly midnight which was annoying as staff said doors closed 11.00.

A very friendly welcome, with the staff being helpful, accommodating and attentive. We stayed in a large Classic Room, which was tastefully furnished, clean and more than adequate for our needs. The en-suite bathroom was also very good, with quality towels provided. A nice touch was the complimentary continental breakfast, which was much appreciated. Access to the room was easy and convenient, making the whole stay very pleasant.

The only aspect that was out of sync with the otherwise excellent standard of the accommodation was the mattress. Unfortunately, it was uncomfortable and felt uneven, which resulted in a rather disturbed night’s sleep. This was disappointing, particularly as everything else about the room and our stay was very good.

A nice little one-night stay: quiet location but close to town centre. Nice room, spotless and nice to have real coffee, fresh milk and the bonus breakfast in room (granola, yoghurt, fruit & muffin). We ate at the pub too, nice food and nice buzz even mid-week, clearly a popular place and a nice pub garden. Welcoming staff.

My only comment is the mattress was a bit lumpy but that may be personal choice.

Bellissimo pub storico con giardino/dehors. Molto frequentato anche se non immediatamente in centro. Il quartiere è tranquillissimo. Ci è piaciuta molto la colazione nel frigo in camera, con prodotti freschi del pub.

Kitchen was closed too early, had to find food elsewhere. The toilet didn't work, we had to improvise using the rubbish bin as bucket to fully flush the toilet. I was expecting we would get switched to another room, instead we were told to use the pub toilet downstairs if we need to go.

Charming pub with characterful decor. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We were even provided with a simple, but much appreciated breakfast offering of fruit and muffins which we weren't expecting. Would definitely come back.

Not super central, but definitely walkable to everything we wanted to see.

It felt like a homey old time pub, very appealing and cozy. The dinner I had was very good, and the service was excellent.

The manageress couldn't do enough for us, we were late arrivals and she went out of her way to make us feel welcome. Little gem in a residential area, tastefully decorated with everything you need. 10 mins walk into town for good cooked breakfast, muffins, museli and yogurts in room. Good quality tea and coffee fresh milk. Spacious bedroom and bathroom.

Roads getting there a bit tight and complicated but not too bad found parking and the hotel arranged a permit so all good.

Le pub est très bien décoré avec un personnel très accueillant. Le restaurant dans le jardin est très sympathique et bon. La chambre est agréablement meublée et la salle de bain bien équipée. Parking devant le pub. Quartier très calme.

La fenêtre ne s’ouvrait pas très bien ce qui empêchait une bonne aération. Le petit déjeuner réservé dans le frigidaire de la chambre est un peu minimaliste.

Pub storico a pochi passi dal centro, bellissima struttura con angoli incantevoli e atmosfera magica, camera ampia e molto gradevole, rapido check-in e altrettanto per il check out, la ragazza che ci ha accolto è stata molto cortese. Essendo un pub, la mattina é chiuso e quindi non offre servizio colazione ma in camera abbiamo trovato una piccola colazione molto gradita. Molto pulito Consigliatissimo!

La camera sarebbe un po da sistemare, intonaco ammalorato in alcuni punti e luce di emergenza fastidiosa. Il personale non ha avuto molta pazienza nei nostri confronti in quanto parlavamo poco l’inglese. Se pernottate di domenica non è possibile cenare nel pub

This was an amazing find, a cozy pub just a stroll from Winchester high Street. The rooms were very comfortable and the staff were amazing, the food was good and it was overall very good value for money.

The stairs up to the rooms were a little steep which made carrying bags tricky but only to be expected in such a lovely old property.

It was a cosy but very comfortable room with a surprise and tasty breakfast supplied. We heard hardly any noise from the pub even though there were people in the garden and it was in a quiet area. It was a short and pleasant walk into town.

Hotel au dessus d un pub très typique avec un jardin dans lequel nous avons pu petit déjeuner. Proche de la gare du centre et des grands espaces verts qui sont t tres agreables.

Le petit déjeuner est dans le frigo ce qui est pratique. Peit etre pourrait on avoir du pain du beurre de la confiture voire un épée de fromage et de jambon. Mais le granola et le yaourt sont t délicieux

Das typisch englische Flair des Pubs, das wunderschön eingerichtete Zimmer, das große Bad mit großer Dusche und der herrliche Biergarten. Abends uns nachts war es sehr schön ruhig. Gut war auch, dass wir einen Parkplatz direkt vor der Tür ergattern konnten. Das Personal war sehr zuvorkommend und ging auf all unsere Wünsche ein.

Es war etwas warm im Zimmer und das Fenster ließ sich nur ein Spalt öffnen. Dafür hatten wir aber einen Ventilator.und im Bad konnte man das Fenster weiter öffnen, sodass es nachts und morgens angenehm war.

Het was een heel klassiek mooi hotel met een pub waar je goed kon eten. De kamers waren erg mooi ingericht en als je de Engelse cultuur wil ervaren is dit een prachtige plek. Daarnaast was het een hotel waar kinderen niet waren toegestaan, wij hadden wel onze baby mee en hier werd flexibel mee omgegaan was wij erg waarderen.

Very welcoming. All staff very friendly and helpful. Beer and food were exceptional, we all felt the evening & night to be top notch.

It was very very hot. There was a fan in each room which is great, but the windows only opened a few inches.

Room was available early and someone helped me carry my luggage up the stairs.

d highly recommend NOT going to this place. I like to support small businesses but it was less than ideal. The only positives were I arrived at noon and my room was available shortly thereafter and someone helped me up the stairs with my suitcase. My toilet didn’t flush well at all from the start, the door to the bathroom was tough to close, the television kept getting knocked off the internet, the room was stuff and when I opened the window, there were cobwebs all over and it was dirty. I decided to eat dinner at the pub outside and was ignored for over ten minutes and then went to ask a server if I needed to order inside. They followed me to my table and I ordered and then only saw them again when they dropped off my food. I had to search for the server to pay as well. I did try to ask about my toilet but they were very busy and so I gave up. They do leave some cute breakfast food in the room. The fan they had was hidden in a dresser and I didn’t see it until shortly before I left. It’s not too far from town, but definitely not worth the price for all the hassle and sub-par cleanliness.

Sehr schönes Zimmer in einem Pub mit toller Atmosphäre. Alles sauber. Das Personal war sehr freundlich. Frühstück wird nicht angeboten, aber es gab Joghurts mit hausgemachtem Granola und Obst kostenlos im Zimmer. Dazu Tee und Kaffeemöglichkeit. Zehn Minuten zu Fuß zur Kathedrale.

A warm welcome, staff took time to give us a tour of the layout, explain everything we needed to know for a great stay. They showed us to our room, again went through details .. brilliant! We ate in the dining area that evening, food was amazing and great value. Fabulous stay!

Rénovation urgente à prévoir : chasse d'eau défectueuse, il manque une porte dans la douche, le bouton d'ouverture du robinet de douche se désolidarise du mitigeur, le fil d'orientation des lames du store d'occultation a disparu, l'ouverture de la fenêtre est difficile, l'équipement électrique laisse à désirer. Quant au ventilateur rouillé et poussiéreux il ne dénote pas.Tout est dans son jus ! Quant à la décoration, elle doit dater de l'époque du roi Alfred ... Donc non conforme aux attentes.

This is a wonderful, traditional pub with a fantastic cozy pub atmosphere. The rooms were clean and tidy. We loved the location in a quiet residential road an easy 10 minutes walk to the heart of winchester. Parking was easy and included. Staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast- homemade granola, muffins and fruit- is left in the room and was delicious!

The King Alfred is a lovely old pub which serves amazing food and beer. It's only a short distance from the centre. The staff were really friendly and helpful.

Very close to centre so location was good. The bed was comfy and the staff were friendly though as its a pub it all felt a bit rushed when checking in especially as the pub was busy. We had dinner in the pub which was very good and the service from the staff was fab. The towels were lovely and big - proper bath towels.

The colour of the room was very depressing and 'dark'. The breakfast was ok - it was in left in the room. Perhaps 2 options of fruit and muesli without nuts. It didn't feel very clean and I picked up a cork which had been left by a previous occupier which shows that perhaps not a full clean is carried out.

We were welcomed & booked in by our host. The pub is quirkily decorated, in a good way & the landlady has an inspired, decorating theme throughout. Food was lovely, the guys behind the bar were very friendly & we hardly had to wait for our food. It was a busy garden which on a Thursday evening was unusual, it was planted really well & I can imagine will look fab in the summer. Great guest ales too. This was the start of our journey on the South Downs Way & although it is a bit of a walk to the start, it is a lovely route as you follow the river (ignore the road way & follow the path) saw beautiful properties along the way & a safer route to walk too. The pub was in a peaceful, tree lined residential area. We weren't expecting breakfast as it wasn't included in the price but there were fresh blueberry muffins, homemade granola bar, yogurt & milk provided with teas & coffee, which was a nice touch. Lovely stay around & would recommend & definitely stay there again if I go to Winchester again.

Not the fault of the pub but a couple of people who were staying were very noisy coming back late & woke us up.

The pub was easy walking distance to many attractions, eating venues and the main shopping street. Interior design and decoration used bold colours and lots of old prints.

What a lovely pub stay. Staff went over and above to make everything great. Food was top notch, and those breakfast muffins were the best.

Very cut family hotel. The room was very nice, the feeling was like we came back in the history, that old english vibe. Every detail has it own purpose. A hallway and stairs straight, like something from a fairytale.

Cosy and great location

Located in a quiet residential area about 10-15 walk into town. The room was comfortable and the bathroom had a walk-in shower. There was a mini fridge with fresh milk, joghurt, Satsumas, granola and a couple of nice muffins. Downstairs, the pub has a cosy atmosphere and comfortable seating.

The TV reception in the room was weak, making some channels like BBC1 unwatchable due to digital pixilation and accompanying sound distortion.

Good location and parking permit was easily done. Good walking distance to main centre and great staff. Clear instructions on getting in and out and lovely thoughtful touches with the breakfast in room.

If I had to give any negative it would only be that the pillows weren’t great - although I’ve never found good pillows in a hotel room!

Room was clean and comfortable. The basic breakfast left for us ( granola, yoghurt, real milk , muffin etc ) was very welcome. Bar area was friendly with nice beers available, and good food choices. but other than that, there's not much to fault it. Parking outside worked out well for us, as we arrived late on a Saturday afternoon, and restrictions were just ending. Would be wise to check with the pub, regarding any arrangements they may have for other times.

A lovely querky pub with boutique accommodation. It has a warm and friendly atmosphere - we enjoyed our stay there . There was also a complementary breakfast - granola, yogurt, and muffin in your room with fresh milk for tea/coffee

Great pub, great location. We had a twin room and was very clean and comfortable. Even got some yogurt, granola and fruit to see us off on our way early. We also ate dinner here, burgers were great! Large beer garden with plenty of space and some good beers on the bar.

El lloc està molt ben cuidat. És antic però no degradat. L'ambient del pub és de qualitat. El local impressionant.El soroll no se sent des de l'habitació. No fan esmorzars però et deixen a l'habitació un bullidor d'aigua i uns delicatessen que t'arreglen el matí. Aparcament al carrer però a la porta. El tracte del personal molt cordial i amable. Ens vam trobar molt a gust. Si tornem a Winchester o rodalies hi tornarem segur.

Tot va anar molt millor del que esperàvem en un principi. No hi ha res negatiu a dir. Potser podriem dir que el que no ens ha agradat ha estat el poc temps del que ho vam gaudir. Val la pena prendre més temps.
