The location absolutely central but quiet as next to the cathedral park - the bar closes at 11pm and is very friendly. Breakfast was fantastic. Great sized room very comfortable with a place to eat, sofa to relax and a good set of furniture to unpack our clothes- we were travelling to a wedding so it was perfect

The only thing I didn’t like was the plug in air fresheners- and it was difficult to open the windows enough so it got very warm and a bit stuffy

Charm, convenience, quaintness and welcome.

As it’s so central, we had to relocate the car once midday arrived on the day of departure to continue our sightseeing. But the very central position does compensate.

It was very convenient to things we wanted to see. There were several restaurants within easy walking distance plus the one at the Inn. The shower was great with good supply of hot water. The staff were very helpful. They arranged for a car to drive us to Southampton for our cruise.

The room was on the front of the building and due to heat we had windows open. If we went to bed early could hear noise from people sitting outside of pub.

Very nice old inn, lovely staff, perfect location for Winchester, good breakfast. I think we'd definitely book this again on a further visit to the city.

the parking on arrival was a little bit stressful, it would be useful if they sent out the parking map they give you on checking in in advance. Once you know where you can park it's easy.

We had the premium room, which was esplendid. The breakfast was superb.

The room’s air-conditioning and cooling system could be improved, but overall, I must say that everything was comfortable.

Food and staff were wonderful. Location was fantastic. Entire setting was charming.

Our bed, unfortunately, was just not comfortable. The matress was lumpy and sloped and the bed creaked when we moved! I would return in a heartbeat if I could be sure there would be a nicer bed. Everything else was perfection!

Where do I start. This place and the people who run it are amazing and go above and beyond. The food was great and particularly the breakfast which was incredible in its quality and quantity.

Just a very beautiful bed and breskfast in the heart on fun Winchester!!! Its pub had great food and drinks!

We were helped to our beautiful room which was up some steps /so no problem.

We especially enjoyed our morning walk, followed by a lovely English breakfast in the pub. We also enjoyed exploring Winchester at a slow and relaxing pace, including visits to the Great Hall, Westgate Museum and the High Street. The traditional English pub interior and the historic atmosphere of the city made the whole experience feel very special and memorable.

Perfectly situated between the cathedral and the high street, a gorgeous building with very friendly and helpful staff. They even let us check in very early as we were going to a wedding out in the countryside. Breakfast was beautiful as well. Already planning a return trip to here.

Great location and beautiful old building, tastefully furnished with great character. Breakfast was included and was excellent, staff friendly - all round would highly recommend.

As it’s above a pub, expect a bit of noise as staff arrive and set up for the day, we are early risers so didn’t bother us. Only small issue was the in-room coffee machine didn’t work.

Perfect independent pub/hotel right next to winchester cathedral, Thiago was excellent and the room was big and lovely including complimentary drinks in the fridge, really perfect stay.

Breakfast service was slightly poorer than the rest of the stay, had to ask for toast etc and slightly slow service

This was our second stay here and it was even better the second time round. Staff friendly and helpful, excellent breakfast. The location was central and could not ge improved. The room located on the first floor was fantastic, brilliant room facilities and a big comfortable bed.

The hotel states that there is on site parking, which is of high importance to me, The on site parking is quite a distance away, with limited spaces, and very difficult to find.

Breakfast was great.

We only had a room air conditioner, which was not sufficient to cool the room. So we had difficulty sleeping.

Excellent location, very spacious, lots of complimentary items, good breakfast, excellent staff, very helpful, would highly recommend, especially good if travelling with a group or family.

Only downside, lots of stairs to the top floor, which was hot, but fans were provided. Overall no complaints.

Probably the best breakfast we had anywhere in England. Everything about the old vine was amazing. Could not have had a better stay. Fabulous location. Great staff. If you are going to Winchester do your self a favour and stay here.

What a gem... On street parking, room was fabulous, food fantastic, all the staff were brilliant... Cannot recommend this place enough.... Loved it.

The Old Vine is a beautiful old building right in the heart of town center within walking distance to everything. The Cathedral is literally across from it. The service is excellent. Our room was large, beautifully decorated and very comfortable.

Very central. We had a big room with two beds and a big bath room which was nice (but no window to open). It was surprisingly quiet during the night. Very friendly manager - helping with the suitcases while my partner tried to find a parking lot...

All these carpets are not really modern anymore but it's very usual in England still. Had to search 50 min. for an available Parking lot in the blue zone which is free of charge...

Stayed here for 2 nights. The whole experience was fantastic. Our room was lovely, comfy beds and a well supplied en-suite. The staff were friendly and efficient and the food was delightful. The hotel is is very central enabling us to walk to all the sights. Parking can get a little interesting but if you are lucking, they have a small garage into which I managed to squeeze a medium sided SUV. Definitely recommended. We'll be back.

Excellent location, central but in a quiet location close to the cathedral. The annexe is very well equipped for a short stay, with kitchen facilities as well as offering very comfortable living space and bedrooms. Breakfast options, served to your table, are of the highest quality. Dinner choices likewise very good. Staff are great.

Not a serious criticism, but some of the furnishings in the living area are looking worn.

The parking is a permit scheme whereby a space isn't guaranteed however Bradley was extremely helpful and explained all of the location and options to us. Due to the size of our car, and the fact that we needed to charge, we opted to park in the Chesil Street multi-storey that was 10 mins away and cheap, also free between 6pm and 8am. We left our bags with Bradley and he made sure they made it to our room whilst we went for a drink ahead of check in so although parking not necessarily convenient, it was not an issue.

Wir hatten ein sehr schönes, ruhiges und geräumiges Zimmer direkt über dem Pub Old Vine mit einem schönen, großen Badezimmer. Tee konnte man stilvoll in der Teekanne (es gab auch Kekse!) zubereiten. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Essen abends im Pub sowie das Frühstück waren großartig. Die Lage ist perfekt, direkt an der Kathedrale. Winchester ist eine sehr schöne, ruhige kleine Stadt und im Juni nicht touristisch überlaufen. Es gibt schöne Geschäfte und kulturell viel zu entdecken.

Very close to the cathedral; historical; beautifully decorated. Pub and restaurant were very friendly and the food was excellent, loved that there were so many regulars and neighbors at the pub.

Not easy to get to but it was worth the effort!

Large room, well furnished and equipped. They were kind enough to bring breakfast to the room at 7.15am even though in theory the earliest time was 7.30pm.

Sockets for phone charging on both sides of the bed would have been appreciated. Parking is not great - but we knew that in advance and they did their best to help.

The location of The Old Vine is brilliant. It is so central and so close to Winchester’s main attraction- the Cathedral. The breakfast has to be one of the best I’ve had in a long time. The quality of the food and extensive choices was excellent. All served freshly prepared to the table. We also ate in the restaurant one evening and our meal again was excellent. Our room was large and extremely clean as was the bathroom. The staff were very friendly and efficient.

The only issue we had for our 2 night stay was that our bed was a little bit firm for our liking but obviously that might suit other people. And it did creak a bit but it was a beautiful bedstead which I assume was quite old but totally in keeping with the room.

The breakfast served to our group was lovely. Nothing was too much trouble. It was an absolute pleasure to meet each morning and be greeted by good food and friendly service.

There was nothing really. Having worked in hospitality ourselves for over 30 years ( Clefs d’Or Concierge/Chef), we know what to look for.

Everything had been thought of for an excellent stay. Nothing was overlooked.

My only personal choice would be slightly firmer pillows but that did not detract from our stay.

Excellent location less than 100 meters from the Cathedral and the main pedestrian shopping zone. Food has quite good, the pub was lively, and the staff was helpful and friendly.

Spacious room spotlessly clean. Very considerate cleaning staff. Bar/restaurant staff smiling, very friendly and we had a brilliant time.

All 4 meals were delicious and served piping hot. The atmosphere and wine good. The only reason for not giving 5 stars... At 10.50 returned from the loo, was told you were closing and my drink was gone! I'd only had 2 sips! Please give us time to drink the drinks!
