The location is near the ICC and food houses.

There were a few damp issues on the wall near the window and the bathroom door.

We stay here twice a year and it feels very familiar in a very good way. Almost like a second home 🙂

This hotel does exactly what it says. Great bed linen and in room refreshments. Fridge, kettle, safe. Water tea coffee. Parking on site. Has a height limit though and no lift.

The lifts are very slow. I don't like the stairs from the car park and spaces could be bigger.

Proximity to ICC and was pretty quiet

Breakfast finishes @ 10am sharp which is far too early on a weekend. The breakfast maitre de was pretty rude and unwelcoming I paid £15 for breakfast and got 1 cup of self-service poor quality coffee and a manky croissant- so definitely not value for money. I would have been better off across the road @ the Sainsbury’s local.

Room very good , nothing else.

Staff need social skills , hospitality skills , how to interact with humans , show they care which they clearly didn't. Asian barman obnoxious , staff at breakfast non existant , unattentive , didn't care or were uneducated in dealing with customers. Terrible customer service , whoever employed them needs to resign and those employed should go back to the school of being human. Breakfast room , tables unclean and the staff didn't care.

Excellent location for the arena. Hotel was of high standard. Comfy beds/pillows. Modern bathroom with walk in shower. Fridge, plenty of cups/glasses/milk/tea/coffee. Decent air con. Nice breakfast

Extractor fan didn’t seem to work in bathroom. Cosmetically the bathroom door was peeling where water from the shower has been getting on it. No decaf tea bags. We were in a room very close to the cleaning? Staff room. Staff were very loudly talking/laughing which we could hear in the room - this started again around 9am. If we had wanted a lay in we wouldn’t have got one. Sometimes a long wait for the lift - hotel was very busy that weekend though.

i came from america to visit my fiance in the uk and tried out this hotel, it did not disappoint. very lovely and we were given a free upgrade. very happy with my stay. will be booking again.

We arrived very early so no room ready, understandable. Came back at 2pm and was told there was still not any rooms ready. Found this a little hard to believe when there are so many rooms. Had to sit in foyer for an hour, bought a glass of Prosecco which cost £9.50 and it was mostly flat.

Room was clean, nice and spacious and the hotel well situated. The breakfast had a lot of options from cold to hot foods.

Check in online helped a little but the queues still to get to the room keys can be long when busy, maybe off a quicker pickup option there. The car park is expensive if you have to pay and the spaces seem narrow. The lifts can be an issue when busy and if you're on a higher floor as some of them were out of order. We were lucky we could use the stairs.

The layout of the breakfast buffet makes little sense. The croissants are in a different area than the toast and jams, for example. We asked for a vegan breakfast and were given a lever arch file with the allergy information for all of the buffet items!

Room was fantastic and clean, it was really well situated for the Utilita arena which was a short walk away.

Unfortunately one set of lifts were out of order so there was long queues to use them. Staying on the 9th floor and climbing stairs with baggage wasn’t great. Breakfast was manic. Everything self serve which was great but because of how busy it was it took 10 minutes in a queue to get a coffee. The cleaning staff were great but couldn’t not keep up with demand so the tables were not set up and again it was a waiting game for cutlery and cups.

We were upgraded to Executive which was a lovely surprise. Everything was spotlessly clean . Breakfast was excellent , Welcome drink a nice start to our stay. Location is great . Staff were all lovely x😁

Check in was friendly and speedy. Our room & bathroom (on the 7th Floor) was large, comfortable & clean. The air conditioning set to the right level for the weather that day. The location of the hotel was perfect for The Birmingham Symphony Hall (aka IIC) - less than 5 minutes walk. The choice at breakfast was superb although the cooked option was cooled by the cold plate. Every staff member we came across was friendly (but professional) Check out was speedy and friendly. Over the past 8 years )dependent on the concerts at the Arena & BSH) I have averaged 4 visits a year to central Birmingham and can't believe I haven't stayed at the Leonardo Royal before, but have already booked for October. This "Brummie friendly" hotel isn't the cheapest (by far) but is a winner as far as I'm concerned.

The only drama suffered was that my cars Sat Nav would have directed me to turn into a tram / taxi / cycle only lane on Broad Street and into a one way (no entry) street finding my way around that issue had I have followed it, the hotel receptionist said it wasn't the first time she had heard that finding the hotel car park on Berkley St Eventually found a way and found the car park (which at 3pm) had 3 untaken spaces that I saw. That said the car park is very close (very handy) to the hotel.

Everything was fabulous. The room and services by the front desk.

A particular night security staff is in need of customer service refresher on how to speak and treat hotel guests. That is my only negative on this stay.

The room overall felt very modern, it had everything you needed. The bathroom was particularly nice. The foyer was decorated with flowers and had a cool flower wall. Parking was very easy, and even if you are staying past check out you can still keep your car there for a couple more hours which is handy. You are close to the city centre, and it’s a nice walk to the centre.

These are minor inconveniences, but the shower gel felt watered down and the lifts were not often. This was not a problem for us, but to be aware of the hotel is near a lot of the night life.

Close to Utilita Arena for easy access and the tram stops just outside. There is a Wetherspoons next door for cheap drinks and the hotel offers an excellent range of food for breakfast. It has a seating area/bar for a drink in the evening.

I had a lovely room with a great view of the city. The bed was very comfortable.

Biggest issue was with the lifts. One of the 4 customer lifts was out of action throughout my stay and I was on the 10th floor, so getting up/down was frustrating at busy times

We lived on the fourth or fifth floor. Four elevators for 16 floors is unacceptable. It is impossible to get to breakfast on time so people just use the stairs. For our family it is not a problem but I have seen elderly people so for them it is a big problem

Absolutely everything! From the moment we walked in the staff were so welcoming. The atmosphere, the vibes, the interior. It had everything you could ever need and want. Rooms were very spacious and comfortable! The food was excellent and the cocktails! It was in a great location also. It was that good we returned for a second night! So reasonable priced to!

Overall it was clean

The room cooling automatically switched itself off in the middle of the night which meant we had to get up and turn it back on to stop overheating. Staff in the bar had a poor attitude to customer service - tried to order food at 21.45 and although it was advertised until 22.00 we were made to feel that any service was a favour. Bar staff couldn’t remember our order and didn’t know the difference between red and white wine.

The elevators were so slow (maybe a 10 min wait for a lift), but there are stairs. Noisey (Saturday) guests were going out drinking and noise travelled from the hall to the rooms.

Das Hotel ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber vollkommen ausreichend für einen kurzen Aufenthalt. Direkt vor dem Hotel ist eine "Party-Straße", es ist nachts sehr laut. Das Frühstück war okay.

The room was very spacious and comfortable with everything you need for a few nights away. Staff were very helpful and the overall customer experience and thoughtfulness of services on offer was 100%. The location initially seemed to lively for us but during the day you have all the amenities nearby and you couldn't hear anything at night. We will recommend it to anyone looking to stay nearby.

The lifts took.a long time and the button often didn't work. The parking was also too tight and expensive. We might park elsewhere next time. A full or vacant display would be helpful.

I stay at this hotel about 20 times a year .it is going downhill. Everytime I stay in an executive room I order my complimentary newspaper when I check in .The staff mostly have no idea that this is a thing that the hotel offers. Most mornings the paper is not delivered and I have to explain the whole thing again . Yesterday I reported that the shower bottle was empty . I was told someone would top it up , it never was . Whenever you report anything that isn't actioned the staff are always very polite , but very defensive, using phases such as " i wasn't working yesterday " or " I wasn't told about that " rather than just representing the hotel . They always ask if I want to speak to a manager. Breakfast is ok but only ok . The plates are always cold despite being stored in a heated tray , someone just needs to turn it on ! The fried eggs are very unappealing, look like ones you get in joke shops . Rarely are side plates available by the pastry counter. Tables often feel sticky .
