Charged full rate for two rooms for not abiding by the cancer rules

Everything was very good except for the below

I was woken in the middle of the night by people talking loudly (drunk) outside my bedroom window on the external seating for the bar area - ruined what was otherwise a very good experience

The only thing I would say is there was no milk for the tea/coffee and when I rang down they said just come and get it from reception rather than offer to bring it to me- we were on the 5th floor so was a bit of a pain - I was just getting over being ill so did not have the energy to collect it.

Great location. Felt very clean and it feels like a quality hotel. Comfortable bed. Decent size room. Fridge in room. Choice of teas rather than just breakfast tea. Staff were friendly and helpful.

It is expensive. The breakfast selection was good, however as a gluten intolerant person I object to having to ask whether things contain gluten when in a rush - it would be easy to have a coded letter system for allergens identified added next to the product name and a sign on the wall explaining the code.

Clean rooms and perfect location in the centre of the city.

Listing said that prebooking wasn’t required for parking but upon departure when we tried to validate parking they said it needed to be prebooked. Breakfast was also meant to be included but receptionist said it wasn’t. In addition, the receptionist staff seemed completely miserable.

The towels were clean but a few of them came with previous users’ hair attached which was quite unpleasant. Very few vegetarian/vegan options were available in the hot breakfast, which is a shame considering less nice hotels offer a lot more. While perfectly fine, there was nothing especially nice about this hotel.

Central location

Such a lovely hotel. Convenient location. It was a very pleasant walk from New Street Station and through the Mailbox which stays open late. The receptionist was delightful and very friendly to my daughter, the front of house team really made her feel special. The room was spacious, modern and well equipped. They treated us to a complementary upgrade. Comfortable bed and nice coffee making machine. Breakfast was a good spread, the quality of the cooked breakfast was high and good options on order too, we ate well.

Had a mini fridge but didn't seem to be on, other than that, zero complaints.

Hotel was modern, clean and had plenty of facilities and was close to the city centre and the bullring, the buffet breakfast was great, the staff were all very friendly and very helpful, the room was very nice with a all mod cons,plenty of room to about, for us it was in a great location for our needs

Location was great for what we needed. We had a family room which was a good size and a cot was also available for us to use. There was a good choice for breakfast.

The sofa bed was a bit old and scuffed, and the shower was very hot even when we turned it right down so not suitable for the children to use.

Modern

The bed was very uncomfortable and of poor quality for a Mariott hotel. This was the least uncomfortable Mariott that I have ever stayed in. The bathroom was also extremely small.

Clean, good location

Noise complaints on both nights, the television was only on volume 10. A volume limiter should be introduced if the television volume is a problem.

Fantastic hotel. Even better breakfast experience. As a celiac I had a perfect experience. Constantina was very attentive and made sure that every part of my breakfast was allergy friendly but cooking the whole thing from scratch. Highly recommended especially if you have any food allergies.

An overnight Saturday stay in a well located hotel just outside of the Mailbox. Very clean with the room having a view over the canal. Only criticism is it was noisy when other guests were returning at 5am from their nights out!

Lovely relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Isabella and Daniel couldn’t have been more helpful. Food offering was delicious and beautifully presented. It was great to meet Constantina, the chef, when she brought out the eggs. So helpful and caring. Five stars.

The GPS takes you to the back entry of the hotel and there’s no way to get in the hotel without an access card (via the elevator which requires the card, all other doors being locked).

The hotel was in a great location in the centre of Birmingham near eateries and the canals. The room was large, comfortable and quiet despite the central location

Stayed for over a week for business and everything about the trip was exceptional. My working hours were very early until very late so my priority was good rest and good coffee! Spotlessly clean room and bathroom, bar and breakfast facilities were lovely, friendly and welcoming staff and a particular thank you to Ian and the night team for tolerating my coming and going for coffee and cigarettes at 05:30 every day.

Good hotel in nice area of Birmingham close to canal. Lots of restaurants and close to nightlight (but not too close). Slept very well, good shower. Nice buffet breakfast. Staff were great especially reception - went above and beyond. Breakfast crew of Constantine, Abby, Reece and Francis were great also. Will stay again.

The coffee machine didn't work

Very clean and the most important thing was the Air con. Staff are very friendly and we really enjoyed staying there. The location and facilities are amazing. The breakfast was excellent and we liked the idea of ordering egg dishes specially made for us. It is one of the best hotels we’ve ever been in.

All amazing but it will be nice to extend the time of the breakfast.

Rogerta and Daniel were amazing! They were unbelievably accommodating to our entire team and guests and truly made everyone feel extremely well looked after and relaxed. A real #dreamon team!

Constantine welcomed us when we went for breakfast and explained everything available, even things not on the Buffet. Constantine was friendly and professional as we're the other staff on duty for breakfast that morning. (August 6th 2026)

We enjoyed our stay. One of the highlights was the beautiful canal and wharf, which made for a lovely and peaceful evening walk. A special mention must go to Orched, who was absolutely exceptional. Her customer service was outstanding, she was professional, polite, attentive and incredibly helpful. I was feeling quite distressed as I was having difficulty locating the parking, but Orched was so patient and reassuring and went above and beyond to assist me. Her kindness and professionalism made such a positive difference to our experience. Staff like Orched are a real credit to the hotel.

The parking facilities, are a little inconvenient for people with Disabilities. The access road to the parking is not clearly sign posted.

Isabella and Abby were excellent ! They looked after us so well They were very attentive Perfect service . Very kind 2 adults two kids

I go to the restaurant every morning with my friend for coffee the waitress are very friendly helpful very experienced make you feel welcome comfortable I have been going there for a few years now best place for coffee and breakfast!

My friends and I use the lounge most mornings. Rogerta ,Francis and Abby are always very friendly and welcoming. They help us and all other guest with a warm smile and explain how the buffet is laid out to new guests. They treat everyone with kindness and respect. AC Marriot Mailbox So far has been the most and cleanest, hotels I have stayed in the minimalist modern aesthetics, Eames lounge chairs, very full breakfast and finally the most attentive and warm welcoming staff have made our stay so far simple and exquisite experience. Mr & Mrs Taylor

Welcoming staff, comfortable and clean bed, fresh and nicely presented breakfast. Francis and Rogerta looked after me over breakfast very well -friendly, smiley and helpful, made sure I'm comfortable in and out. Also, work well as a team, gentle but efficient, well done.

I really liked the location and our room was clean and comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. There was an issue with trying to reschedule the date of our stay and Vidhi the manager at front desk really helped us by confirming the new date had been approved and upgrading our room to a beautiful canal view room which we really appreciated. The breakfast was a buffet which I wasn't able to eat due to allergies, but the staff greeting us and the kitchen made me an omelette and gave me gluten free toast that was available. Everyone was very professional and helpful. Thank you very much!

I stay at the AC Hotel Birmingham regularly for work, and it has become my go-to hotel whenever I’m in the city. The location is excellent, the rooms are always comfortable, clean and well maintained, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. A special mention has to go to Talar, who went above and beyond by helping me set up my Marriott Bonvoy account. She took the time to explain how everything worked, which has been incredibly useful given how often I stay here. Thanks to her help, I’ve been able to make the most of the points and status benefits, and it’s made a real difference. Every member of staff I’ve encountered has been friendly, professional and always happy to help with anything I need. It’s that consistently excellent service that keeps me coming back. I couldn’t recommend the AC Hotel Birmingham more highly. Whether you’re travelling for business or leisure, it’s a fantastic place to stay.

Lovely experience at the AC. Regular visitor to Birmingham and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Breakfast was amazing especially the fresh pastries and the friendly staff. Constantina was very helpful too ensuring the pastries were lovely & hot.

The staff welcomed us as soon as we walked in with eye contact and a big smile. Orchid was extremely helpful, polite and friendly but at all times professional. The room size was excellent and very clean and tidy. The bed was very very large and extremely comfortable. The hotel is close to many restaurants and a Tesco express is just next door. The Symphony Hall is a gentle 10 min walk along the canal from the hotel. Overall top marks and we would highly recommend.

The location was excellent and very convenient, and the staff were attentive and responsible throughout my stay. The facilities were fairly simple, but everything I needed was available. What surprised me most was the breakfast. At first glance, it looked like a fairly standard hotel breakfast, with a full English selection, cold items, cheese and croissants. However, the attention to detail was exceptional. Even ten minutes before breakfast ended, the team was still replenishing the food, checking the temperature of the hash browns, and asking guests for feedback. The roasted tomatoes were cooked perfectly and clearly made with good-quality tomatoes rather than the cheapest option. The boiled eggs were also prepared beautifully, with properly soft yolks, which is quite difficult to achieve consistently when cooking in large quantities. I had hoped to thank the chef in person, but the breakfast service had already finished, so I would like to express my appreciation here. The breakfast made my stay especially enjoyable.

The hotel is located in a very interesting area packed with character. I asked for a quiet room and was pleased to find that the room I was allocated was indeed very quiet. It was spacious and very comfortable; the outlook over the canal was very nice indeed, and the air conditioning was very much appreciated. I was not at all pleased to find that all the public spaces were plagued with loud monotonous thudding and wailing issuing from loudspeakers in the ceilings. I am a musician with very wide tastes, but having to put up with someone else’s choice of ‘music’ is unbearable, especially when it is of such low quality and so obviously ill-matched to the customer demographic. I would have liked to use the hotel restaurant for evening meals but this stress-inducing nuisance prevented this; breakfast had to be rushed in order to get away from it. Why on earth is it is considered necessary to force this upon customers? There is no need for music at all, but if it really must be used then surely some quiet gentle piano or harp music would be far better matched to a hotel of this quality? It is such a shame that this otherwise excellent hotel has apparently been turned into a teenagers’ disco. I would like to use the hotel again, but not until this pointless noise is removed; I am afraid that the experience has put me off ever staying in Marriot hotels in the future. Furthermore, I was with a party of eight other musicians who were staying in another hotel. Since learning of my experience they also are unlikely to use Marriot hotels from now on. If it were not for the noise pollution I would have awarded five stars for this otherwise very good hotel. Finally, you have chosen your staff very well; all the ones I met were charming, friendly and helpful.

Very friendly ad helpful staff. Hotel is hygienic and comfortable. The only drawback is that on Saturday night, you hear a lot of noise from outside. Otherwise, great spot, walking distance to canals and city center. Thank you to the team .

Amazing experience from start to finish. From arriving and asking for help to locate the Q park car park to the end of the stay Talar was fabulous. She was so helpful at check in and so friendly, absolute credit to the company. Room was amazing and very spacious and great view of the canal. The air con was needed for the weekend we stayed. It was so hot outside. Breakfast was so tasty and the waitress was so lovely who welcomed us. Can’t remember her name. Sorry. Overall great experience and would highly recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Birmingham.

Neat. Comfortable. Location was superb, few minutes away from the center. Cozy bar. Tesco express next door. You can walk around the canal just from the hotel. Room was clean, nice and neat. Had the street view. Anyway, thank you Judika for the small note in my room. The Mailbox has a few spot and restaurant to hangout. Highly suggest if you need things close around you.

Great hotel in Mailbox by Birmingham’s canals. We were steps away from a wide variety of restaurants and attractions. The bed was comfortable, the room reasonably sound proofed (some noise from outside but it stopped at midnight). Breakfast was included and Isabella went out of her way to make sure we had a great breakfast.

De locatie is super en we hadden een mooie, geupgrade kamer met uitzicht op de canals. Lief personeel.

Great stay— the hotel has an incredible canal-side location and there are a ton of (truly) incredible restaurants within feet of the doors. The room was spacious and beautifully cool (heatwave) and our stay was a pleasure. Marcello and Laura at the front desk were helpful and kind and welcoming; they helped us organize our afternoon, and we had already checked out!

Another lovely stay. Staff are always so kind. Shout out to Isabella, who looked after me so well at breakfast. The kitchen are very accommodating and the atmosphere is calm and inviting, and sets me up well for the busy day ahead.

Our experience was really good. The location and hospitality were amazing. Constantina and the kitchen staff went out of their way to cater to our dietary preferences and were top class in service.

Brilliant location. You all all the bars and restaurants at The Mailbox and are about q 5 minute walk from Birmingham city centre. Reception staff were lovely which set a great tone for our stay. Our receptionist was on her 2nd day, and she was friendly and helpful. Our canal view superior room was huge, lots of space. Jacob did a fab job servicing the room. Great that it had a mini fridge although the fridge was a little noisy. Curtains didn't completely close, so woke up early with the light. Bathroom sink was difficult to empty as it was flat and fitted on a slant. Good shower though. We usually stay at another Birmingham hotel, but this is now our hotel of choice.

From check in to check out all staff were so welcoming and friendly, I cannot single anybody out as everyone went the extra mile, from reception, to bar staff to waiting staff at breakfast. Great location on canal side, easy walk to New Street station (10 mins) and 10 min walk other way to Utilita. Good selection at breakfast although hot selection was a little dry and overcooked. I ordered fresh poached eggs which were perfect. All areas spotlessly clean, good sized room for 3 adults, great amenities. I will definitely stay again if visiting Utilita Arena.
