You have a really nice and helpful staff on the board.
Good stay. Nice breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff.
Last minute, convenient stay. Plenty of breakfast options and friendly staff. Plenty of parking despite a wedding taking place.
The staff was great! Our room smelled of stale smoke and the shower was very small. Dinner and breakfast were great!
Very beautiful place, the staff were very friendly & helpful!! Will definitely be returning.
We had booked a room for my birthday and we were amazed at how spacious our room was. The Sunday dinner was exceptional, compliments to the chef and all the staff that made our stay so memorable. Many thanks Paul and Anita
Slightly misleading photos , I thought we were somewhere a bit off the beaten track but actually v close to centre. On the plus side there was a lovely little spa which was very welcome after a long day cycling the TPT
Room was not very clean
Was not expecting dogs barking in mornings and running about the place room was ok but should have been a veiw and a shower not bath shower
This hotel has been left to deteriorate. Rooms are over priced with basic amenities. Lovely looking hotel but attention to upgrading rooms is needed
Good comfortable beds. Good TV. Nice shower and bathroom. Big car park.
Fantastic stay, we were there for a wedding
Very nice property. Excellent breakfast.
Not up to expected Mercure standard.
Lovely quiet setting that was extremely close to the M1 motorway. Very good breakfast selection!!
Me and my partner were overall happy with our stay yet we both agreed that a few things could have been better. When we checked in we were told that the person helping us was unsure to give us free breakfast even though our room came with it . We got checked in and made our way to our room, which was not the one that was shown in pictures , after heading down to see what could be done we were given a new room, the new room was great and we both loved it . We found a few hairs in the shower but overall the room was clean. Could use aircon but we were provided with a fan. Also when checking in we weren’t told any information about times of breakfast or where it was. More helpful information would have been useful. Overall we had a good stay just a few things could have made it better.
Convenient location. It took both of us around an hour from different areas, to get to the Manor.
Lovely hotel, friendly helpful staff. Buffet breakfast was very good and very comfortable room
Stayed here many times . Lovely hotel .. breakfast was brilliant
It was good
no breakfast included in price to expensive in my opinion no tea coffee making facilities in room either
Loved the hot tub!
Very charming hotel
Beautiful property, the hot tub was lovely!
I entered the room 3 times during my stay and every time i had to go back down to reception to get the room key card reactivated.
3night stay for family , excellent in every way . Beautiful building and surroundings. Very friendly staff , food was really good breakfast and evening meal . Will definitely recommend and return .
Underwhelming, to be honest. Mattress deeply uncomfortable. No air con (there is a fan in the cupboard but not v powerful). Plugs by the desk but not by the bed (for charging phone overnight etc). Stairs from carpark to accommodation seemed awkward, followed by a gravel path. Ok for us but wouldn't fancy that in high heels or with a walking stick etc. The building looks so nice from the exterior, we had high expecations.
nice old building
Nice hotel Room bit dated but clean Bar served good food and beer Tesla chargers on site
Was for a family wedding, was all perfect , all went to plan checked in after ceremony, lovely clean room , comfy bed , good facilities, iron , shampoo/ conditioner,/ hair dryer , tea coffee , Staff attentive when checked in , we was early ,but they did try to accommodate us , Lovely lady on breakfast check in
Close to main roads.
We had a great time staying there; the only thing we were disappointed about was that the pool area needed a bit more cleaning, as well as the changing rooms.
My husband and I stayed at this property for a weekend visit, in March 25. The breakfasts were great in the mornings! On our first night we had food at the hotel, the menu choice was very poor, and very expensive, also the atmosphere in the dining area was dreadful. It felt like a café. It might have been more relaxing to lower the lights and put some music on in the background. Also the tables were not dressed with cloths and candles. It was not relaxing! We loved swimming in the pool and all the staff were very friendly. Our room was great but we had no view! We looked out on a large grass bank and a few trees. Overall a good place to stay with good road connections.
hi , I booked the hotel and a business meeting for 5 colleagues whilst I was there , I drove 90 mins and 5 mins from the hotel at 230pm the hotel called me and said they are fully booked and they have found me a new hotel 3 mile away , terrible
Brilliant place clean and staff were very nice . Bad point was having a guest next door with barking dogs . My kids and aye were woke up several times throughout the night.
We booked this as somewhere nice to stay ahead of a family commitment in Sheffield. Whilst the hotel looks very nice in the pictures, there were some let-downs that did not meet expectations:- Towel rail and key slot to enable room electrics were broken. Towel rail could not be fixed so towels could not be dried. Several rooms nearby had multiple dogs in that were barking loudly for a lot of the time. The restaurant food was generally tasty but the staff did not offer any flexibility with the menu, and many items are clearly cooked from frozen. We hoped to use the pool with the family but it is closed to children from 5pm, which is not stated in the hotel description.
We were staying for the weekend for our anniversary and got a free upgrade mentioned upon checking in which was a great surprise considering when booking the girl said she would write on the mirror and get some balloons etc to mark the occasion! The room was huge and presented nicely with the little touches added by the staff. We only found the time to enjoy the spa facilities on the first day but enjoyed the pool and the hot tub and the steam room! The last day of our stay, we booked room service breakfast using the doorknob card provided. It arrived between the requested times and was still hot it was a great way to end the stay. We will definitely be staying again we had a great time! Thank you Mitch & Sean
Our kids were woken once at 11pm by the fire alarm which were apparently planned indoor fireworks at an event. There was no communication from staff as to whether we should leave the premises. Then we were awoken again by a 40 birthday party in the room next door, shouting, screaming, playing music, and vomiting. We called reception (on our mobile as there was no phone in the room to call reception) but nothing was done about the noise. I don’t think the amount of money we paid is fair when we have had a stressful and sleepless night. Not great.
Second time staying at Tankersley Manor. Great place.
Quiet, and not crowded.
I have been staying here for years and the quality has remained the same. It’s a charming hotel with nice grounds, comfortable rooms and a cozy pub with great food!
We stayed over to meet family and relax in the spa. A great quiet location and near to the TPT. Great food selection but the chicken burgers aren’t worth the money.
Great hotel. Incredible value for money
A neat boutique type hotel. I have stayed a couple times here for business. Breakfast is highly recommended. They have a full restaurant / bar. rooms are clean, and comfortable.
We were a family of four good size room
Good service. Asked for a quite room as it was weekend and anticipated noisy wedding parties, and the gave us a well away from the function rooms. Much appreciated.
Good hotel had a very good sleep
Walls are paper thin so you can hear everything next door. Rooms are too hot. No real value for money and i expect a lot better for £160 for one night. On the plus side the staff are the only real credit to your poor hotel.
Bueno
Lovely hotel, great facilities with no restricitons on access and welcoming staff. Really good value for money.
I checked in here on 28th October. i was not greeted by what could only be described a rude, non engaging reception you girl. This must be the 1st time a hotel front of house staff member did not speak to me or offer a welcome, just a cant be arsed stare instead. I was not asked if i wanted to eat in the bar / dining room, i was not offered breakfast or if i would like to open a tab. Simply unbelievable! Tankersley is a stunning building, but that is where it stops. Unfortunately, like many hotels, it is in need of a full renovation, its very 80's. however, the rooms are spacious and clean. Staff at breakfast were fantastic, from the greeting to register your room to the kitchen staff keeping the plenty of choice well stocked up.
Our room was towards the back of the building, so nice and quiet away from the wedding celebrations. The room was clean and comfortable, but very hot even with the window open, so that made sleep difficult. We had a lovely meal in the brasserie in the evening and breakfast was good (self service.)
Rooms could have been better, shower tray very dirty/marked did not use. Very limited tea tray, breakfast was very disappointing, very unorganised, chaotic, tea/coffee machine broke down twice.
Staff were great at check in but the room was so noisy. We could hear every word of conversations from a family next to us. The corridors are also noisy. Premier Inns are quieter! A real shame as the pool facilities are great as is parking and location but lack of a good nights sleep lets the hotel down
The property appears to be geared towards weddings at the weekends. Unfortunately we couldn't be put into a quiet room away from the entertainment. The bass was very loud indeed and after calling reception at 11.30pm, they did turn it down a little, which was appreciated (12.30 is when they have to finish apparently). Regrettably a group of young girls then came back to the adjacent room and continued the party until the early hours, which added to a very disturbed night. If you are part of the party and expecting this, I'm sure you'll be fine (tolerant), if you are expecting a relaxing stay, peaceful and quiet (at the weekend), I'd make sure they put you in the opposite end of the hotel to the entertainment. Would also be nice if a member of staff walked the corridors to check that everyone is being considerate in the early hours (2.30am is beyond acceptable).
Porridge made to order at breakfast. Nice old building with character. Wish the pool was larger !
Ok Prices for drinks expensive so we ate at another restaurant
Another excellent stay. Food was good - breakfast particularly and dinner had great options - well cooked. Room again was spotless and everything worked perfectly. Will definitely be staying when next in the area.
It's shocking for disabled and elderly outside paths are very uneven and parking not great only one parking for disabled.thr walk in shower in the room was ideal but the chair and settee in the room were very dirty.the beds were very comfy though.but the constant humming noise all night long outside was not great so sleepless night..drove home tired not refreshed..won't stay again..
Hotel accommodation comfortable and clean. Did have to wait with two others for 10 minutes at reception to check in as no one around. Restaurant good except I ordered confit of duck with a chorizo and butter bean stew. When it arrived, there were no butter beans but baby potatoes. When I told the waitress, she seemed puzzled by what I told her. Eventually she said she would tell the chef…. Not a big issue but the restaurant team should know from the kitchen what is available or what substitutes are in place.
Service from the staff was fantastic. We primarily booked this hotel as it claimed it was dog friendly, it really didn't disappoint for this as our dog was very much welcomed and was allowed anywhere in the hotel. They even had a separate dining area for people with dogs.
I stayed in room 65. It was quiet and located at the back of the hotel, where I could park close. I ate with family in the rsstaurant, which was really clean and nice, with good food. A variety of pub classics and Asian fusion.
Convenient location, large, comfortable room, full sized bath, very quiet room.
Peaceful and calm
Our stay was very good, excellent breakfast with plenty of choices. But due to the hot weather the fan in the room was just not enough, had trouble sleeping. Eco-friendly toiletries were excellent, room could do with a little bit of updating, all in all we had a nice time. Could use the pool, gym and jacuzzi for free but you could also pay for a spa treatment. As we were in the annex part of the hotel there were 50 stairs down for breakfast and 50 back to your room. You can have evening meal room service for only £5 extras. Would stay again but try to get a room nearer the restaurant.
Stayed for 2 nights whilst in the area on business. Comfy rooms, well equipped gym facility, reasonably priced good quality food.
The hotel is beautiful, but the food was awful. We couldn’t eat it as one meal was far too salty and the other was microwaved too much, both inedible. We complained and the manager was quick to rectify the problem. The en-suites could be more eco friendly by having a card, as most hotels do now, saying please reuse towels if possible, leaving those you want replaced on the floor.
Lovely room with period features. Room located close to outside seating and above bar/ restaurant area. Night/ sleep disturbed due to loud talking from those accessing the outside seating area till after 1230am
My 10 year old daughter loved she got given a mocktail because it was her birthday 👍
Nice place, nice people
Lovely out of town hotel with gym and swimming facilities
Lovely staff, lovely hotel, fantastic breakfast, highly recommend
Business stop over. Food expensive for frozen calamari, chicken salad £18 for a very dry piece of chicken £13.00 for a large glass of wine! London prices in Barnsley!
Wonderful building! Small, but nice room. Bathroom was new and clean - small, but well organized. Bed was okay, but not great. No Air Conditioning.
Overall happy with the stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Meal portions generous. Room size large in comparison to most hotels. Downsides fairly remote location, no air con in room and room 132 has continual background noise from ? Spa vents which the room is above, but would visit again.
Hotel was fine. Satisfactory. Good restaurant and decent breakfast.
Comfortable hotel with spa and pool , bar and brasserie style restaurant
No spa environment. Spa had lots of children which took away the reason for our stay.
It’s fine, but the decor is VERY outdated and old and it’s very overpriced
Room was a little warm but otherwise it was a beautiful sized room! And fab working tv. Shower fab too although the shower gel was empty. Dog was happy in the room too and absolutely loved the ball and treats you gave her on arrival!
Joelle who met me at reception was great. She got me checked into a room before the usual check in time as I had an event to get ready for. The room was clean and the bed comfy. Breakfast was ok, the usual UK offering of a full English set out on the hot plate. Sausages weren’t great quality and the scrambled eggs had separated- I wish all eggs could be cooked to order (not just here) and that means on busy mornings having the kitchen resource. The spa was nice but quite small so I can see how this could be too busy if there were a number of groups. While the hotel was on the side of a busy road it wasn’t noisy and I didn’t hear traffic in my room even though I overlooked the road. It was in a really good location, very easy to find.
Lovely hotel with great staff!
Very nice stay I would stop again
Very nice hotel will be booking again
Enjoyed the facilities but room probably not up to new Premier Inn standards. Leisure facilities were good though steam room was out of order, some locals not expecting it to be repaired any time soon. Restaurant choice and food more than acceptable. All in all a reasonable choice if need to be in this part of the country.
I liked the room. I enjoyed the swimming pool, steam room etc. The restaurant offered a great selection of foods, with Western and Asian fusion cuisine. The breakfast was also decent. However, my room (room 105) was near a generator or something that kept coming on in two minute intervals and I couldnt sleep. I ended up asking them if there was anything they could do about it so they gave me another room (room 50), which wasnt as good as my previous room I had but at least it was quiet. I would stay again but be very careful on the room you get.
Really enjoyed the stay. Room nice, facilities good. Breakfast had variety and quality. Great value.
Lovely stay, friendly staff.
Lovely comfy bed. Staff were great. Food was delicious and served quickly and great leisure facilities
Had to move room. Had to send food back. Not a great hotel
Very good. Only problem was restaurant closed for 1 week due to work being done, and hotel using conference room which had no ambiance.
Nice hotel with pleasant staff. Good food.
Great location, good facilities & efficient staff. Our suite was very nice. Cleaning trolleys left outside our room, in the hallways didn't help manoeuvring from our room to the breakfast room at 830am. Annoyingly, trolleys were still in the same place 90 minutes later on return to our room. On checkout at 12 they were still outside our room. Breakfast was very good, all needs catered for, buffet style.
Dog friendly hotel in great location with spacious rooms.
Uncomfortable bed and pillows
Room was a bit tired, tv has white light across the top so needs replacing, bathroom grout not very clean. Spoons were dirty, makeup stain on the towel, dark stain on bedding. Weddings on, no noise from that but staff going into staff only loud all night and early morning, also a water pipe sounds very loud in the morning as well
Perfect
Arrived at the hotel but had to wait for a receptionist to turn up to the desk. Issues with key cards for our rooms as they did not work and had to be replaced twice during our stay. Drinking water was not provided in the room so had to buy some from the bar. At breakfast we were met by a lovely and friendly member of staff who took us to our table and explained what was on offer.
The hotel is rather dirty - the carpets / chairs are all stained and look dirty. The bathroom are outdated with blackness around the bath. The lamp shade in bedroom fell on my head. Breakfast is all Highly Process Food, no fresh food. This hotel has seen better days .
Overall experience was good. With breakfast having a hood choice. Room was ok but looked outdated. Decent pool , sauna and steam room to use.
