Staff was great. Location was fantastic. Room exceeded our expectation
Location was great and hotel facilities were good, breakfast was nice.
The restaurant turns into a nightclub on both nights of our stay, Fri & Sat night & our room was directly above the restaurant so no sleep until 3am!!! Would’ve been nice to know!
This hotel was positioned in a great spot in the city and the hotel recognized Marriott Titanium Status by providing an upgrade to a Junior Suite. The airconditioning worked well in the room on a very hot day in early August 2026. We loved the overall feel of the hotel but I cannot rate it a 5/5 because I did not think the bed was comfortable. Everything else was immaculate about the hotel. Our upgraded room was also perfectly quiet in a busy part of the city! Make sure you reserve a parking spot in advance if you plan on parking on the premises.
We recently completed a 3-night stay at the Renaissance Lucerne. On the positive side, the location is excellent, and our 4th-floor room was quiet. Thanks to previous reviews warning about noise from the main-level bar and restaurant, we requested a room above the 3rd floor, which worked out well. Unfortunately, those were the only highlights of our stay. Check-in set a poor tone. The receptionist, Dana, was unfriendly and seemed visibly annoyed that we had booked through a third party rather than directly with Marriott. When I asked to add our Marriott number to the reservation, she haughtily informed me that it "won't make any difference" since we wouldn't earn points or receive breakfast. The room and bathroom were both quite small. Space was tight enough that only one suitcase fit on the luggage stand; the other had to go on the floor, forcing my husband to carefully maneuver around the bed. The bed itself was just average—noticeably less comfortable than the Zurich Marriott. Additionally, the room felt far too warm for the thick comforter provided. Even with the AC set to the maximum level (3), we overheated every night and had push off the quilt at intervals during the night. It felt as though the hotel increased the temperature settings overnight. Having a top sheet or a lighter option intead of just a quilt would have helped immensely. The bathroom layout was awkward, with the toilet positioned directly in front of the door. While the shower was a decent size, the fixed glass panel design caused water to puddle on the floor where the panel didn’t cover. The lack of an exhaust fan meant the mirrors fogged up heavily, and odors escaped straight into the bedroom. To make matters worse, a housekeeping supply cart and a dirty linen basket were parked directly outside our door (Room 407) for the entirety of our stay, which gave our stay a low-budget feel. Because we booked using Chase Reward points (which required significantly fewer points than Marriott required), our Titanium Elite breakfast privileges were not honored. Consequently, we cannot comment on the hotel's breakfast. Instead, we bought pastries daily from Bäckerei Macchi and ate them in the lobby while using the hotel's coffee/tea station. While this worked fine, the lobby area curiously lacked napkins of any kind. For those looking for alternative breakfast options, La Vie En Rose, Melissa’s Kitchen, Mill’Feuille, and a Starbucks are all within a short walk. A few final operational notes: the elevator is incredibly slow for a 6-story building, resulting in frequent waits. Also, if you plan to drive, note that hotel parking is 35 CHF/night and should be reserved upon booking. The hotel only controls three gated spaces; fail to secure one, and you will be hunting for public parking. Overall, our stay was underwhelming and disappointing. Next time, we will opt for a different property, such as the lovely Hotel des Balances or The Hotel Lucerne, if we want to stay within the Marriott family.
We are a couple in their late 70's with multiple surgeries struggling to walk, were give a very small room on the 6th floor corner away from the elevator with practically no view. Upon asking them to switch us to a lower floor close to the elevator the front desk staff was rude and simply dismissed our request and our concerns.
all good
all good
Location was great. Beautiful decor. Staff very friendly and helpful. There was a weird smell in the bed. The walls were thin so it was very noisy. AC was either freezing or off.
Nothing. The Júnior suite (room 201) was shameful. It should not be a room at all. The room strongly smelled like cigar. The window was tiny and faced another room’s air conditioning equipment. But the worst thing was the smell. It was really strong. We hate cigars. That room should either not exist or be offered only to smokers.

Das Frühstück war wirklich unschlagbar!
Die Zimmer sind etwas klein
Room cooling was nice, not A/C but still really nice. Ice machine was handy in heat wave on 1st floor. Room was very spacious, shower was excellent. Counter in bathroom was huge. Bed was nice king-size. Had balcony to walk out on.
Balcony could have been bigger, oddly small but still nice. Little pricey but we needed a nice place.
We had a lovely stay at this hotel, all of the staff was amazingly kind and friendly, we got a nice upgrade with a balcony and large room, breakfast was amazing again very kind staff, also a lovely location.
Great location
Very small Shower was so small that it could barely fit one person in Expensive for such a small room
die Lage ist optimal, wenn man Bahn oder Schiff benutzt
stark in die Jahre gekommen
This was the start to a river cruise and the hotel was part of our package. Great rooms, great towels, amenitiies and in room coffee was plentiful. Safe in the room, plenty of space for out clothes and suitcases. Showers were very good too though the "no shower door" thing is a bit of a mystery. Elevator was a bit slow but we walked most of the time so not a bigh deal and the stairs were great.
We had a great experience at the Renaissance Lucerne. The location is great! Just a few short blocks from the train station, and then within walking distance to the central areas of town. Our check-in had a hiccup, but our reception hostess, Dalia or Dana, I apologize I didn’t catch her name correctly as she was moving so quickly to help me I couldn’t properly make out the last letters on her name badge. She helped me dig into the issue, not an issue with the hotel, and worked with management to help make it right. I appreciate her efforts to help keep our 20 day dream vacation from going off the rails. Thank you! The tam there helped us with two great little perks. One is they have a coupon that will give free local tram service. What a great benefit. We used it to take the train to the base of Pilatus (this is a must when going to Lucerne). We also, don’t laugh, used it to go back to the train stain with our luggage as it was a little easier than the two blocks with all the people and bikes. Another perk is a 10% discount on the Pilatus tram ride. Pilatus has a small store front a block or two behind the Rathaus. The people there were very helpful and the 10% discount helped us enjoy the excursion while minimizing the bite out of our travel budget. Two very nice perks for staying at this property. Finally, I will mention that prior to our visit I was in email correspondence with the staff asking for their recommendations for dinners and local tours. They were very helpful and their efforts are appreciated. Net is, great people, great property, great location. Hope your visit is as good as our was.
Das Hotel und das sehr freundliche Personal
Excellent location, comfortable beds, coffee, tea, and hot water along with refrigerator in room. Nice towels and linens. Stayed in room 201. Hardly any natural light due to the one tiny window facing a covered dark alley. Couldn't even see whether it was raining. Worst view ever. For the price we paid, we should have received a real room with a window that showed the outdoors. The room was so tiny there was no way to move around. Everything else was fine. Extremely close to train station and a dozen restaurants. Short 10 minute walk to old town.
Friendly staff - they found a solution for an administrative problem. Cozy room. Near to the main train station. Good restaurant in the hotel and many restaurants around the area.
завтрак отличный
отель хотя 5 звезд, там нету ни тапочки, ни халата, даже фен не поставили
Excellent location, in a residential area but close to many attractions. The room was small but very clean. Breakfast with a la carte option which for me is excellent since I don't eat a big breakfast.
Noise People talking loudly in the corridors from early morning until late at night. Additionally, music from the restaurant on the ground floor could be heard clearly even on the 5th floor. The lounge area is small but generally comfortable. However, on two consecutive evenings, one family occupied a table and set up a full McDonald’s meal for six people, including children. This disrupted the atmosphere, and I believe the hotel should exercise better control and not allow this kind of behavior, especially given its category.
Room was very nice and well equipped
Nothing
This hotel has a good location near the train station. Rooms are small. Lobby is small. No real amenities. No parking. Interior rooms look into courtyard that manages garbage and deliveries. Woke up at 6:30 am to what seemed to be someone sorting the recycling. Never really figured out how to manage heat but you can open windows to cool the room down. No longe. Would not stay here again. Oh the other thing is the hotel contacted me prior to my stay about my credit card on file and wanting an updated card and said they were going to cancel my reservation if o did not update. This is the only Marriott I have had this happen and the status of the card on file has been the same for over 2 years. As a reference I had 100 days with Marriott last year so this was a bit weird.
Location, exceptional room.

Stayed 2N in te hotel. It's a small hotel located about 300m from the main train station and surrounded by stylish shops and restaurants. There is an unmanned "Lounge" which had space to read a book and grab a free Nespresso Coffee. As a Platinum, I was upgraded to a larger room, overlooking the next building (i.e., not much of a view). Beds were comfy, how showers, fast Wifi. The breakfast was a good mix of hot good and continental items. Eggs were made to order. Front desk staff could be warmer, such as greeting guests when they return in the evening.
Merci pour le upgrade! Coin lounge! Tranquilité.
Le restaurant, trop gras pour moi
Personal sehr freundlich
Emplacement au centre ville. Spacieux.
Le sol de la salle de bains glaciale et le bruit de la rue. Sonorisation insuficiente. Place de parking réservé et balancé à un autre client par incompétence de la réception.
Loyal Marriot Member review: I had a brief stay. Excellent location near train, ferries, and coop also open on Sundays. The receptionists Sophia and Syria were friendly and welcoming. The room small but adequate. The rooms were clean. The best part the bed was comfortable not totally Swiss which I find too hard for my American sleep conditioning. The pillows down and comfortable. The windows are operable if you need a cooler night sleep then their preset temps. There is no control that I could find for winter stay but with window it was perfect. The lounge was nice space but minimal on beverages. I did not eat breakfast at hotel rather went to a fantastic casual local breakfast lunch spot around the corner with a farm to table menu. There is a pharmacy across the street too if you need this. This hotel is next to a very lively Latin restaurant that was a night club Saturday packed full of people having a great time. This hotel is also minutes walking from Old Town where you find history, shopping, and more dining. I would stay here again.
VERGONZOSO
Room was divine!! Great location as well. Room was so nicely spaced out.
Frühstück war sehr gut
Our stay at the Renaissance was great. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was awesome. Sergi especially took great care of us!
Stayed for 2 nights in the Junior Suite. Room size was decent. Loving the central location in historic Lucerne, just 5mins away from Chapel Bridge. The 3rd floor has minimal bar noise from downstairs. Watch your step in the shower though, super slippery floors! 😅 No toothbrush and toothpaste provided too so bring your own!
Très bon lit et grande salle de bain. Très bon emplacement près du KKL et de la gare. Très bon accueil.
This hotel is central to most tourist interests in this small town. The greatest view may be observed from the city wall--A nice walk there even you do not care about its history (Photos attached are not related to the hotel). The hotel is quite expensive, but likely worth of the money you pay. There is no club lounge or fancy reception desk. It is typical old European hotel setting with narrow hallways and small elevators but everything was functional including AC. The junior suite we upgraded to was quite spacious in European standard. Eligible Bonvoy members were offered free breakfasts at the restaurant, which is of high quality with plenty of choices. It is also an easy walk, even with suitcases, to the central train station where we got a direct train to Zurich airport with 75-minute ride.
Clean and friendly.
- No internet on the television so no casting to watch movies etc. - Bathroom very narrow and door can’t open all the way. - open shower so after showering the floor is wet - Breakfast too expensive for what you get. - In the room I can hear the neighbors amd other people in the hallway. - The air is very dry in the room. - outside street works very loud at 02:00am
Hotel is located conveniently in the center of the city. Three blocks from the train station, ferries on the lake, and the Chapel Bridge. It is an older building and thus has smaller rooms, small elevator and lobby. The Mexican restaurant/bar off the lobby is converted to a large buffet area for breakfast. You can order off a menu, but the selection offered is good and complimentary for Platinum and above. We were upgraded to a junior suite and given a pass for use on public transportation in Lucerne Staff was attentive and helpful.
Nice hotel and very good personnel but not to typical renaissance scale. Very convenient location. Over-priced but that is not surprising in Lucerne. BUT MOST IMPORTANT: The music in the restaurant on the first floor is the WORST. It started at 10PM on Friday and Saturday night and we could not sleep until 2AM. How can you allow this to occur?? I would not recommend friends to stay at this hotel unless the noise problem is fixed permanently. I'm sorry to have to write this. But this will also be my review on TripAdvisor.
Accueil impersonnel et froid Très onéreux pour les prestations Ancun membre du personnel ne parle français
This hotel is a complete dump. I am Platinum Level on Marriott Hotels and got treated like dirt. You can imagine how others are treated. I booked a king room for two. When I arrived they said my reservation was for one. The room they gave me was smaller than my closet at home. The receptionist was rude and bitter. She was used to unhappy guests because we heard each day another arriving guest who was treated badly. I sometimes tell my wife that a hotel bathroom was too small for the two of us, in this hotel one person in the bathroom was crowded. Don't waste your money on this hotel.
Heat was out and the room was freezing. No blow drier. Cleanibg stsff was reslly nice but iur room was next door to the storage room so the door was loudly closing constantly wsking us up.
Es ist an einer Top Lage und wir waren super schnell zu Fuss im KKL!👍🎶 Total nettes Perdonal👍 Ganz speziell mit einem Parkplatz👍
Nice hotel. Room was very small with an odd layout. Bathroom was up 3 stairs from the foot of the bed. So weird. Otherwise, it was quiet, beds were comfy and the place is super clean.
horrible experience in hotel. filled with visitors from viking cruises. rooms were poorly decorated. staff was uninterested. oh and the restaurant that hotel is connected to turns into a club with blaring music.
We spent our first night in Luzern, for the start of our two-week panoramic railway tour of Switzerland. We came directly by train from the Zurich airport to Luzern after landing, and appreciated the close proximity of the hotel to the railway station. Upon our arrival, we were informed we had been upgrade to a junior suite, which was a nice surprise and very much appreciated after traveling for almost 24 hours from the U.S. The first thing we did, upon checking into our room, was to fall into their comfy king-size bed for a long nap! We didn't really appreciate it when we booked this hotel, but it is PERFECTLY situated to enjoy all that Luzern has to offer. It's about a five-minute walk to the railway station, and also the boat docks on Lake Luzern. And it's not much longer to get to the heart of Old Town was well, and every mode of transportation is literally at your doorstep! The staff were super friendly and helpful, getting us extra pillows for our bed, etc. They helped us get last-minute reservations at a popular restaurant. And the included breakfast was delicious, and a great start to our day.
Do not stay at this hotel if you are looking for quality service. They are in the business of making money not in the business of caring about their guests. Very frustrating and unsatisfying experience with them. I wish I could leave this review on the Marriott website which I booked through by its past the time I'm allowed to.
I am fully aware next to nothing will be done, but I have to share for fellow travelers and Bonvoy members to note: 1) By mistake I neglected to put “2 guests” when I booked this hotel and upon check in, was horrified at the the size of room- I was given a “Small Guest Room”. That no upgrade to suite or junior suite as Lifetime Titanium was given, I accept. But not even a regular room upgrade and an insincere “thank you for being Titanium”, is such an insult. In my decades with Starwood this is easily the smallest room I’ve come across- there isn’t room to open up your luggage on the floor, and the toilet door would hit your knee when closed. This was made worse by the colleague the front desk person Daria consulted (Daria who checked us in was nice enough)- within my earshot she (not Daria) said “we are full. He has to pay extra” (I checked- for a normal day it was a difference of 514 francs vs 518 francs). I felt zero “privilege” compared to the treatment I received the previous day, at Park Hyatt Zurich (where I am merely Globalist). And perks? A “nice” welcome card (not handwritten) by the GM. And an offer of $10 credit (not even complimentary breakfast! - or the usual 1000 points. The “fitness” room is a joke, while the lobby is similar to 2 star hotels I’ve stayed at in Europe. About the only plus is the proximity to the train station. Don’t be fooled by the pictures, as I was. My complaint is also at the arrogance of Bonvoy these days. I can’t remember the last time I got an upgrade to even a junior suite. I suspect they have given so many of these tier out to guests during and after Covid, they simply don’t care much about loyalty or tier. I’ve made up my mind to use Hyatt whenever I can, and urge all guests to reconsider the same. Being Lifetime Titanium, just one tier below top, is next to useless at Bonvoy.

Helpful staff
Hotel has great service, friendly staff and the best location to the train station (2 blocks up the street.) Tourist information center located at train station was an excellent resource for planning local trips and train tickets. The hotel is located close to the Chapel Bridge and the old town. Food in the in house restaurant is excellent and serves a great breakfast, lunch and dinner. Second time we stayed there and has only gotten bbetter.
Beware! If you flush the toilet while your spouse is showering, she will be scalded by very, very hot water due to the sudden redirect of cold water from the shower to the toilet tank, The Renaissance has a written policy in the hotel room :"If it's yellow, let it mellow, let it mellow.Brown?Flush it down." This policy obviously reduces the statistical probability of a lawsuit.I would guess that Marriott overlooked this problem over 25 years ago when they purchased the hotel. I wonder how many of the 8,999 other hotels of Marriott have the the same problem since this is a chain policy .I wonder how many people are walking around with scald scars from this intolerable situation.I alerted management to this situation but have received no acknowledgement in the two weeks since our stay. Viking River Cruises bears responsibility ,as well ,since they extended our cruise at this dangerous hotel. $500. 00 a night ! My wife came quite close to falling on the very slippery shower floor as she vaulted from the burning water. This incident took place at 5:30 P.M. on August 8,2025 in room 504 It sure likes a class action lawsuit considering the overall socio-economic status of the patrons Dick Bates Grove City,Ohio
Very small room. Shower didn't have great water pressure.
Location only
Families Beware – Overpriced and Outdated This so-called “high-end” hotel is a rip-off. Facilities are outdated, and they can’t fit families in one room. If you book two rooms, they’re not even connected. No reception, no lobby – nothing that justifies the luxury price tag. Extremely expensive for what you get; you can find far better accommodation elsewhere for a fraction of the cost. Avoid being scammed here.
Great central location, great room and great staff.

This was a great hotel for the three nights we spent in Lucerne. The rooms are very small, and the bathroom is even smaller. However, this is made up for by the location and the staff. The size of the rooms are what keep me from giving it five stars, but that would not keep me from staying here again if I returned to Lucerne. It is a great "little" hotel. The breakfast every morning is staffed by some of the friendliest and most helpful people in the world.
It rained continuously for the two days we stayed here. But its fall and Switzerland. We appreciated the central location for walking the town. Parking was tight at the back of the hotel through a cast iron gate. We reserved space in advance so that was convenient to leave the car while we explored the area. Room was on small side but modern and clean. Front desk were super accommodating. Breakfast was good served in the funky connected restaurant next door.
Excellent location in the city, we could walk or take the bus anywhere we wanted. The front desk staff was SO friendly and helpful, which was great. The rooms were nicely appointed and clean! We liked the bar next door for a pre-dinner cocktail and breakfast was great!
ROOM: Quaint, well designed room with ornate crown moulding. Rooms were small by US standards, but typical of European rooms. Room was well equipped with a large desk, a chair, a Nespresso coffee maker, fridge, and iron. Bathroom had a nice towel warmer but was small. The European style shower was extra small with no shower door or curtain, it took us a few tries to learn how to position the shower head to minimize water spillage into the bathroom. AMENITIES: The gym was on the "1st" floor and was equipped with a few cardio machines and a handful of dumbbells. There was an amazing, comfortable lounge adjacent to the gym with large, comfortable seating and a TV. The hotel also had a self service ice machine, which is unusual in Europe - probably geared towards its American tourist base. There is of all things, a Mexican restaurant attached to the hotel. We only went to the bar there a few times - did not eat there, but the restaurant was quite crowded at dinner. The decor of the restaurant was beautiful - and the bar was well stocked with really friendly bartenders! SERVICE: Staff were all outstanding and professional. Housekeeping did a great job and serviced our rooms. One afternoon while we were using the lounge, some people complained we were making too much noise - when the staffer came to let us know she could not have been more professional and kind in letting us know. LOCATION: The location of the property is ideal. It is a few blocks away from the more touristy crowds of old town, yet everything (old bridge, train station) is within an easy 5-10 minute walk. Lots of restaurants, bars, and pastry shops nearby.
We traveled with a Viking cruise so that may impact what we experienced. The bed was comfortable. If you are new to this region, no top sheets. Shower was good, but it’s an open shower so everything gets wet. Tiny bathroom. Heated towel rack. We had room 517, a corner room and it was pretty quiet. Staff was responsive and friendly. There is a restaurant off the entry. Breakfast was excellent. Please be aware that the two prong electrical outlets are recessed into the wall so a cube or block US/European adapter will not work. We couldn’t find one that did. Hairdryer in the room was fine. Hotel is walking distance to everything in old town Lucerne and about 3 blocks to bus/train station. Very clean hotel.
Location, room was clean and breakfast is good. The bar also good
Convenient location Close to lake Lucerne and train station You can hear the music from the restaurant until approx 1am on a Fri/ sat night when in your room Excellent staff
We were here for 3 nights with family this summer. The hotel is well located, centrally located and everything is walkable distance from the hotel. However the lobby was small and the room corridors were too narrow. They did not have anyone to help out with the baggage as well. Overall good hotel in Lucern.
vista da sacada para o interior do hotel. Sem vista.
Clean. Close to bahnhof, friendly staff, trusted name brand, breakfast was awesome
Room was small, key kept not working, coffee maker didn't work
I don’t know how this could be a highly rated hotel. The lobby is well there is no lobby. I had a problem as they wanted to put me ina room in front of the elevator which means no sleep To me. I saw the room as didn’t realize at first and the rooms are nothing to rave about. The staff said they didn’t have a single other room And lucky for me they moved me to the other Marriott property, the hotel. There the staff was amazing, Friendly and helpful. The staff here rolled their eyes at me. I would not recommend this hotel. It is shabby.
