Sandman Hotel Cranbrook

The pool was out of commission, no elevator to second floor, room smelled horrible, bed were very soft and unsupported.

There was black mold all over the ceiling in the bathroom, the bathroom fan did not work. Staff couldn’t move me to a different room. Both myself and my infant left the hotel with a very bad cough due to the mold. Customer service seems to have brushed off my experience. I don’t feel like they care as much as they should have. Nor have they taken my complaint seriously…

Older hotel well maintained. Convenient location. Loved that the lobby had a door through to the Denny"s

View was parking lot. People smoked outside of my window. Pool was closed which was a big reason I booked this hotel. Loud neighbour's so I wonder about sound barrier.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Easy to find, clean compact room for an overnight stay. Would recommend to other for an overnight.

Down at heel in every way, the hotel is badly in need of refurbishment with peeling paper on the walls, a warped bathroom door which would not shut, non functional swimming pool (despite huge sign outside the hotel advertising this amenity) many rooms look out on a noisy railway and the others onto the main road or a truck park with dumpster diving going on. The electrical system is possibly unsafe as the trip had to be reset for the heating/air con to work. Question: why had it tripped? Something is shorting out…not safe!

this location was easy to get to. Our room was very nice, neat clean and the beds were very comfortable.

The pool was out of order which was a dissapointment. The trains coming thru were a bit loud however this is not to the fault of the hotel or the staff I just know for next time to make sure our room is in the front half of the hotel.

The door doesn’t close properly unless slammed shut. Very disruptive to other guest that are trying to sleep. Loud talking cleaning staff on the hallways in the early morning hours

How can you tolerate mice in your room? The management has to take this seriously do necessary cleaning methods to keep mice away from the rooms.

There wasn’t breakfast with the room. We ate at Denny’s which is attached and it was terrible. The coffee was old and stale and we waited 16 min to get our order taken and another 15 for it to arrive. It was only toast, it was cold and hard.

We couldn’t figure out how to work the tv and the woman at the front desk didn’t know how to do it either. She was very nice and tried to help but couldn’t figure it out.

I was only there for a quick overnight. It was easy to find and there was enough parking when I arrived. Seemed somewhat renovated. The staff were friendly and helpful for my late check in. Room was clean enough, bed was the same as any sandman (needs to be flipped more) but comfortable and clean.

The hall ways had a very strange smell, almost like a garbage bag with food left somewhere. But my room didn’t have the smell so it wasn’t a huge deal. The train doesn’t bother me but it may bother some people.

We ate at Denny's and had a great breakfast. Prices are much higher this year, but we were happy with our meal.

The room was a bit pricey, but very comfortable and clean. Breakfast not included, but close by.

We booked at the Sandman in Cranbrook in order to have a swim after a long days driving. We were advised, after saying we were looking forward to a relaxing swim, that the pool was closed. We were not advised of this before we arrived. A couple of hours later, after a rest, I had to go to the front desk to find out how to work the tv remote. While there I said I was not happy about the pool situation and asked if we could have a reduction in our room rate. The very nice lady said as we had booked through Expedia, she could not refund, but would give us a voucher for $40 for the Denny’s restaurant adjoining the hotel. A word on the restaurant, filthy. Honestly, so dirty.

Horrible set up for bathroom. Door oppened inward making it difficult to use toilet. Nousy dog next door yipping all evening and again in morning. Our room faced railway track, train noises all through the night. Upon arrival, was told pool not operational, this was NOT noted on their website. Too expensive for the poor quality of the rooms.

Our room had a decent sized stain on the ceiling from the bathroom above leaking down. Our bathroom looked to have mold. Cigarette smoke smell bothered my kids and wife from trying to sleep, couldn’t leave the window open as it was large enough for the homeless to climb through. It was most evident from the bathroom, seemed to be coming in through the fan that was unable to turn off.

Being right by railroad, our room looked at the track. Also long corridor to Denny’s at front as I use a walker. I was in town for day surgery and was a.lowed an early check in. We will be back on October 15for further surgery. We will book in again but ask to be nearer the front.

Overall it was a ok stay for one night. Smells like cigarette smoke inside the building but overall it was clean.

For $200 a night this is totally unacceptable. Room smells so bad we need to leave windows open and fan on. If I hadn’t already pre-paid, I would have walked away. This property is poorly kept up. We will never stay at another Sandman in a small town without thoroughly reading the reviews.

There was blood on the sheets on the sofa bed. Also blood stains on some of the towels. The toilet kept running. Otherwise the room was clean. The pool is out of order. The second floor is dipped in so bad the doors do not want to close. There is approximately a 3 inch gap at the base of the door on 1 side. This hotel needs some serious work and upgrades.

The interior from lobby up the stairs to the second floor is like the second half of Titanic (sloped sideways). It looks like some structural remediation is needed. In addition to that, we booked this hotel expecting to use the pool but the pool was out of order when we got there and no reimbursement was offered.

Pleasant staff. Comfortable bed. Decent coffee.

We travel with a sound Machine so it helped sleep at night it’s an older hotel beds are decent not amazing nor terrible. A little on firmer side.

We could not get the coffee pot to work, so phoned the desk wh immediately had a new one delivered to the room. Only thing better was if the old one worked.

My key to the door of my room didnt work all weekend and I had to get the front desk to let me in everytime. Would be nice if they had a maintenance team to repair such issues.

The property is old and in need of upgrades

Bed was comfy, sheets nice and clean, but property very Worn. AC did not work, bathtub is damaged or stained Stains on chair etc. Denny's restaurant could also do with a update, especially the flooring After staying at the Sandman in Quesnel, which was super, The Cranbrook was very disapointing

Servicable spot for a night or two in Cranbrook. 2nd time Ive been there, no complaints at all. Very nice and efficient staff. Walkable to downtown restaurants.

The clerk spoke very limited English. Almost like she only learned how to check you in. A 5 minute phone call asking about pool towels was nuts only to find out the pool was closed. There is only enough hot water for a 2 - 4 minute shower before going ice cold. The railroad is about 30' from your window and there were 4 trains last night. Also there were people, homeless I assume, sleeping out back by the tracks. Not worth the money. This should be a $59 dollar motel!

The building needs renovations. The staircase up to the second floor were tilted.

We booked this property so we can swim in the pool but unfortunately we arrived at 8:40 and the front desk told us that the pool was already closed. Seems a little early for the pool too close.They reopened at 10 o’clock leaving only under an hour in the pool to get ready and leave by 11.

Older hotel not up to other Sandman hotels standards I have stayed in It was clean Noisy cause of Train running right behind hotel Issue with updated TV system that front desk could not figure out Did receive a discount for inconvience

Was a quick stop for the night. Got in late and left early. Bed was comfy.

The rooms have a heavy odour, mould and mildew like. The furniture and bathroom needs some serious upgrades. The staff was friendly and the hotel is walking distance to the town centre.

Was unaware of the freight trains that run behind the property when we booked our stay. As well we had some items stolen from the back of our pickup truck from a homeless camp sent up on the other side of the train tracks.

Hotel is old and dated. Staff friendly. I have stayed in hotels 80 nights this year and this hotel is by far the most run down I’ve stayed in.

We booked last minute before we got to the hotel figuring most Sandman's we knew were quite nice, this place is a dive. We thought when we pulled up that it was closed. My 9 year old cried and was afraid to go inside. Terrible

Our toilet wouldn’t flush, the chain kept coming off. The pool was not accessible at separate. moments. Sometimes cars worked sometimes it didn’t.

Nice to have Denny’s right next door

Only one night but wouldn't recommend. Old dirty carpets. Saggy bed. Tiny bathroom & washup area. Same price as others in this category, but no breakfast. Generally disappointing. Just looks old and rundown. I thought Sandman was better than this.

Very convenient location for driving through. Love the little kitchen, going camping somewhere and we brought everything so it was perfect to prepare a breakfast and coffee
