La Capitana Old San Juan Building

Todo malo. No había agua caliente, el aire acondicionado era parcial solo en una estancia. Se fue la luz por muchas horas, Muchas hormigas, No había ascensor. Mejor no sigo. no me alcanza el espacio. De todos los lugares que alquile en Booking este estuvo muy malo.

La ubicación es ideal para visitar Old San Juan y el servicio de contacto también fue muy eficiente

El alojamiento que se muestra en las imágenes de Booking (yo reservé el Bay view) es el mismo pero ya no se encuentra en las condiciones de las fotografías. Todo estaba muy decrépito (por ej: armario sin puerta, puerta de la terraza atrancada con una madera). Los utensilios de cocina estaban en mal estado y por tanto no se podía usar la cocina. Nos encontramos varias cucarachas campando a sus anchas por todo el apartamento. Se lo dijimos a la chica de la recepción del hotel que gestiona el apartamento y nos dijo que mandaría a alguien a limpiar pero eso no mejoró el problema.

Muchas cosas, suciedad en el apartamento y edificio, suciedad cocina. No había agua caliente. Ninguna puerta cerraba por falta de mantenimiento. Falta de mantenimiento en las paredes por humedad. Indican que hay aire acondicionado, pero no especifican que sólo en la habitación. Indican que vendrán a limpiar el apartamento cada 3/4 días y nuestra estancia fue de un mes y sólo fueron dos veces. Y una de esas veces fue porque encontré a un personal de limpieza y se lo dije.

The host is unprofessional. My flight was canceled and I lost one night, I was trying to adjust my dates and she didn’t help at all, she didn’t show up to meet me, putting her staff talking to me. She ignored my messages for a week so my advice is DO NOT BOOK because if you have some problem she is zero emphatic.

The check in is not in the location mentioned and I was not informed about that beforehand. I arrived at 4am and I had to walk 10min with bags because they didn’t send me proactively information. The house is super old and you can’t open the windows for the sea view.

Lo único bueno es la ubicación, que es excelente.

No está listo para ser alquilado, está sucio, a medio acabar, no se siente seguro ni tiene calidad para estar en alquiler. Además, no tiene equipamiento. Parece un piso abandonado. El suelo está lleno de manchas, la cama esta oxidada. No es recomendable. El propietario era amable pero las personas que trabajaban en el turno de mañana no lo eran, todo fue un poco incómodo.

Great location right In front the ocean, it was close to so many restaurants and shops you could basically walk anywhere even the beach was just about a 25 minute walk which isn’t bad! Great value for the location. San Juan was absolutely amazing!!!

It could’ve have more towels, we only had 1 towel each for the entire stay which was 5 days. Also sad the windows were locked but I guess it was maybe just for safety reasons since you’re right next to the sidewalk. A bit rowdy at night but tolerable!

Había una parte del apartamento sin aire, ahí no se podía a penas estar, los utensilios de cocina MUY escasos, para desayunar tuvimos que hacerlo en el suelo por falta de mobiliario y el baño tenía alguna fuga, cada día teniamos que estar continuamente fregando para quitar el agua, y el agua del grifo de la ducha apenas salía con potencia

The location - it is pretty near everything; possible to walk to everything though for those with mobility issues beware it is at the top of the hill; though streets supposedly have wheelchair accessibility - the old, uneven cobble stones would be challenge for those even with walkers or canes! The kitchen was pretty well equipped but no stove...just a microwave. The space of the unit.

1. I intentionally book with hotels during my travels because I want access to certain services: ex: 24 hr reception area; this Capitana Hotel Is a part of La Terraza Hotel (not indicated when originally booking or until the day you arrive!) 2. It does not have a reception area; there are no staff members/ no employees to assist. 3. To check in or check out, you have to go to La Terraza Hotel which is 4 blocks away; very inconvenient if traveling with luggage! 4. Old San Juan also has the very narrow, cobbled streets of a colonial town; usually one way - it can be an added complication when you have to check in or out - 4 blocks away, and you have a taxi to pay for! 5. Access given to three WIFI networks that only ever worked in the bedroom and more than often did not work at all! This hotel costs too much not to provide decent Internet! The TV required network so usually not working. 6. This is a building with work in progress so there were noisy workman on weekday mornings, often the noise of the work too. 7. Housekeeping, emptying of trash, change of towels or linen, replacement of toiletries & toilet paper only every 3-4 days! 8. The reception did not answer overseas numbers! 9. Though I was assured assistance, no one came to help with suitcases when I was leaving. I had made it clear before I booked that I had an injury & would require assistance with bags! 10. Very dark & almost no circulating air. The painting done due to remodeling has dried when traditional louvered - windows were closed. Impossible or almost impossible to open the louvres. 11. Although interior supposedly remodeled with modern conveniences, not well done, facilities falling apart, breaking or falling down. 12. There is a stupid system where to use a fan, the light must also be on?! One fan didn't work. Never fixed. 13. The electric current often not strong enough to charge devices! 14. Asked for a sea view. 15.

So our apartment had a roof issue making it impossible to stay there. So I can not rate the room. We never saw it. The hotel is very accommodating and did put us up in the hotel part. But the room is so tiny. It really had room for our bags to walk. Too clean beds. No view. Air conditioning was fabulous. The shower was great.

We were placed in a two queen bed hotel room. This hotel also owns the property La Capitana. El Terresa is the hotel. At first I was very disappointed because it's such a small little room. I wanted it apartment style. The location of the room was great. The hotel is very accommodating. It did have a small pool on the upper balcony. It does have elevators to get to our room. Everything that the little apartment did not have. But it was very crowded with our bags. I couldn't help but be disappointed. But you do it you can do.

La reception,ubicata presso un'altra struttura, comunque vicina e raggiungibile a piedi,la nota negativa è che bisogna comunque spostarsi con le valigie da un posto all' altro

The only thing was, is the location. I arrived on Friday at midnight with 2 kids and I made the reservatio on Wednesday night and they couldn't tell me this location had no water 😑that was very disappointing and also to do the check in was 2 streets down from the building.

I didn't like the location of the check-in and the fact that no one told me they had no water prior to check-in. And the guy who was there Friday night was there Saturday morning had a bad attitude. To be in front counter and have that attitude it was a horrible experience.

I enjoyed the location being so close to everything in old San Juan.

The bedroom by the entrance was pretty warm. We also did not have water for half a day, which was very inconvenient.

La cosa mejor es la posición. Está a unos pocos metros de calle San Sebastián donde se encuentran todos los locales de San Juan viejo incluido el Cafetín. Además en 5 minutos caminando está a La placita. Y con 5 dólares de Uber llega a condado.

La limpieza es bastante mala. Y faltan unas cuantas cosas como sabían por limpiarse las manos, no salía agua caliente de la ducha, y algo para apoyar las cosas porque está solo una mesa pequeña.

Big apartment, Sea view beautiful. Mattress comfortable . Pillows, towels everything good One thing I really love was that the same owner have another property called “terrazas “very close to capitana , like 3 blocks down and they offer breakfast like Colombian, Venezuelan, Puerto Rican , American , it was really good and the chef Miguel cook really good . The waitress was very helpful too.

Far too dingy and old unit. I'm pretty sure there was mold somewhere in there as there was a smell. It was also quite humid with no air (windows were boarded up) and the bathroom was AWFUL! Small and so so so dirty. I didn't feel comfortable enough to take a shower or even step in the bathroom without shoes on so I moved to a different hotel JUST so I could comfortably use the bathroom without feeling sick to my stomach. I understand it's in OLD San Juan so it's not been renovated too much but seriously I was appalled they didn't update it just a little to at least make it cleaner and not synonymous to a biohazard.

Location was good. Easy to walk to everything. Staff is friendly. The manager allowed us to stay at the sister property the night we didn’t have water but it was inconvenient to change properties like that.

Our first night we didn’t have water at all. So the place was useless. It also just seemed dingy and dirty. Plus there were no windows to see the ocean as they were boarded up. But you wouldn’t want to anyway as there are no windows and it’s muggy. Also you are right on the road so you hear all the cars and all the honking. It’s a main road so you also hear all the people walking by.

El personal del check in más bien antipático. El apartamento tiene mucho potencial, le falta cariño, mantenimiento y limpieza. Cocina, piso y baño deficiente la limpieza… parece que no lo hubieran limpiado, por eso ni utilizamos la cocina de lo sucio que estaba. Haciendo una limpieza exhaustiva mejoraría mucho la experiencia, ya que la ubicación y amplitud muy bueno. Recomendación cambiar la cortina de baño.

No nos gustó ! Lo único bueno era la ubicación. Oscuro, húmedo, las ventanas no se abrían, la cucheta era para niños, el agua fría, una puerta que daba a un patio sucio y con caídas de agua. NO VOLVERÍAMOS! El agua salía con olor en fin mejor olvidar! Rescatable el personal del hotel donde hay que retirar la llave ( que tampoco funcionaba bien)

Th location, the view and the size of the apartment.

The bathroom design. It was so small and there is a lack of shelving and hooks for towels. The number of towels could be better.

Good location, right across from the castle, beds were comfortable, and a spacious room. From reading all of the reviews, I wasn't expecting much, therefore I was not disappointed. For the price it was okay, don't expect a four-star hotel. If you are used to staying in hostels you will be fine.

Electricity went off quite a bit, not in the area but just in our room, which was the Newly room. It would be nice if there was an operable windows instead of bars so we could see the ocean which was right in front of us. Did not provide towels and wash cloth, so we had to go back up to the main building to get them. However, the room was fairly clean. Just very poor craftsmanship. Small things add up, for example a broken table lamp, rusty table, paint coming off the countertops, paint spots on the floor. With a little extra care it could have been an excellent room.

Location was phenomenal. The view from the balcony was amazing. They let us store our luggage after check out.

Only by the other reviews did i learn i needed to check in at a different location. Having not heard anything from them, I sent a message the night before asking where to check in. They did respond quickly. But I'm curious if they would have messaged me had I not messaged first. The room was only reminiscent of the photographs. In the photos there is a four person dining room table. That has been replaced with a two chair small round table. This seems like a stretch of a complaint, but it also wasn't decorated like the images. A lack of wall art as seen in photos. A lack of throw pillows (in the photos). Atmosphere was left to be desired. No additional blankets in the room or additional towels. And the closet door in the bedroom was missing. There is a lack of glassware. And even a dirty mug was with the clean ones. There was also no hand soap in the room. There were no lugage racks, a dresser, or even anywhere to put our suitcases outside of the floor or couch. My suitcase just ended up on the floor open. The door latch to the bedroom also kept getting stuck and became a nuisance to keep the door closed. Most of the above, I couldn't care, but when you advertise it, the customer should expect it. I saw more than a dozen cockroaches. I get that it's hard to contain pests in a historic building on a tropical island, but better pest control needs to be better managed. Dozens everywhere. Kitchen, living room, sink. The room had dirty paper towels around when we checked in, seemingly as if an attendant didn't clean up properly. The hot water is also the left knob, and takes some time to warm up. Didn't work at all our first night. I messaged about it, but they never responded. I guess it was sorted as the next day it worked. Worst of it all, my partner stepped on a small piece of broken glass the first night. She's okay, broke a little skin. But just shows that the room wasnt properly cleaned.

It’s very hard to beat this view for the price. Very nice!

Let’s start with the kitchen. There was one tiny skillet that was crusted with food, all mismatched and scant silverware that was dirty. The knife was so dull and crusted with grime we had to go to the store and buy one… so you’re welcome to future guest that visits because you’ll find it there. No cutting board whatsoever, the glasses were dirty, the surfaces the same. It is the most ill-equipped kitchen that we’ve ever experienced, not to mention the nasty, moldy sponge we were expected to wash dishes with. We replaced that too. The bathroom: The shower curtain doesn’t reach the floor so water goes everywhere and watch out if it touches your skin because it is rusted with so much mold that it will absolutely disgust you. There is no sofa, only a bed, so don’t expect to have anywhere to sit at and chill other than that at all. The television stopped working completely while we were there, as in, we watched the screen burn out right before our eyes.

The balcony view was my first all favorite.

The one problem i had that you had to be careful on not having everything plugged in at once or the power will cut on and off.

The bed was comfortable and there was room to spread out. The view and breeze was great when we opened the shutter doors to the balcony.

The bathroom needs work. There was limited hot water in the shower. The furniture in the sitting area has some wear and tear. There was a full kitchen that lacked full place settings and service.

Decidí reservar a pesar de los malos comentarios y tuve una grata sorpresa. El lugar es muy cómodo y grande. El departamento estaba muy limpio. La vista es hermosa (adjunto fotos desde el balcón). Hay que ir a buscar la llave a dos cuadras, pero me avisaron con anticipación. No sentí ruidos molestos en ningún momento y la cama es muy cómoda. Nosotros si tuvimos agua caliente, a diferencia de otras reviews. El precio y la ubicación son excelentes. Es un muy buen lugar para viajeros no exigentes. Si estás en los detalles, no te va a gustar.

La zona común es un poco fea (pasillos y escalera), faltaban cosas básicas como jabón para las manos y una toalla extra para lo mismo. El baño es muy modesto pero cumplía. El secador de pelo está en muy mal estado.

The location was unbelievable. It right in Old Juan, right by the water, and close to the fort. I can check out the sights and restaurants all within walking distance. The room was big enough for myself, my husband, and our two teens (who had bunk beds in a separate area). The kitchen area was nice.

Our apartment was on the main floor, which meant our window opened up right to the sidewalk. The sidewalk to the window was extremely close, where there was no privacy, especially as the window faced our bed. That meant the window as closed the whole time with no natural light coming in. It was also noisy being that close tot he street and sidewalk. We also had to go to a different location to get the key for our room.

Windows make it easy to hear every single noise outside and we had very loud neighbors who talked very loudly in all public spaces.

We had to check in down the street. It was terrible because it was late in the evening and hard to pay the taxi driver an extra $10 to wait for us to check in. There is no toaster or kettle. Our room had cockroaches on the kitchen counters. It needs a lot of repairs and updates. No place to open our suitcases. We were supposed to get Cleaning on the third evening and we did not. I did not like how the front gate locked and you needed to keep to get out. How about if there was a fire? My husband was leaving the building and as he was letting people in, his foot went into an oval hole and he fell and hurt his ankle and scraped his knee and leg. The cover was missing on the hole. The other three holes had covers on them. We had no Proper windows so we could look out so it was very dark in there. The only thing positive was the balcony and the comfortable bed.
