The Italian restaurant was great

The lobby had a number of people sitting on the floor while waiting to check in and several guests were in bikinis and swim trunks without shirts or coverups. It was very tacky and lacked all decorum. We paid $350. and still had to pay $25 to park our car. There is no parking garage so it sat out in the blazing sun. We shouldn’t have had to pay for that!!!

I want to recognize the staff for their excellent customer service. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and professional throughout my stay. When I first checked into my room, I found trash and used towels left in the bathroom. I reported the issue, and the staff responded quickly, apologized, and resolved the situation promptly. Their professionalism and willingness to help were the highlight of my experience.

Overall, I was disappointed with the condition of the hotel considering the high price charged for the stay. In my opinion, the rooms are in need of a complete renovation. They show significant wear and tear, especially in the bathroom, and the walls, carpet, and even the bed all looked noticeably worn from years of use. The overall condition of the room did not match the premium rates the hotel charges.

All the amenities - we didn’t even leave the resort. So many things to do. Staff was super friendly too.

Not enough elevators. Would be nice to have a restaurant in the island grand - like a sports bar/ steak place. We did go over to Rum fish grill. But we were staying in Island grand. Just a suggestion.

They charged me $2000 over what was quoted on the phone. Told me total would be $604 and ended up costing over $2000. I questioned it and they said they can change their room rate at anytime without notice.

The amenities and location. The outside was beautiful. Staff were very friendly.

Both our TVs were broken. When we called to report it, they brought us an extra remote controller. The air was broken and had to report it 3 times because it was never fixed each time they came. Food was outrageously expensive. One pizza was $33. The room was small for 6 people.

Amazing resort with many amenities we thoroughly enjoyed it! Our check in lady Shpresa was most accommodating and very pleasant! We’ll definitely be back!

We recently stayed at TradeWinds Island Grand with our family and left feeling very disappointed. Based on the resort’s reputation and price point, we expected a much better experience. The biggest issue was how overcrowded the resort was. The pools were packed every day, and unless you claimed chairs very early in the morning, there were virtually no seats available. Instead of feeling like a relaxing beach vacation, it often felt stressful just trying to find a place to sit. Customer service was another major letdown. From Guest Relations at check-in to several restaurant servers, many employees seemed disinterested, impatient, and unwilling to help. The worst experience was at the Activities Hut, where the staff consistently came across as rude, annoyed, and inconvenienced whenever guests had questions or needed assistance. Hospitality simply did not seem to be a priority. Our room had its own issues as well. The room phone didn’t work because it was missing the cord entirely. If we needed to contact the front desk, we couldn’t even use the phone that was provided in the room. Housekeeping was also extremely disappointing. During our entire stay, they only came once, and that wasn’t until 5:30 p.m. on our second night—right as our family was getting ready for dinner. We asked if they could come back a little later, and they acted visibly annoyed that they had to return. We never received housekeeping service on the other days of our stay. One incident really summed up our experience. My 10-year-old daughter and 12-year-old niece were waiting in line for the complimentary evening slushies. As soon as the clock struck 9:00 p.m., they were told they could no longer have one—even though the children directly in front of them had just been served. The employee told them to come back the next morning because they opened at 9:00 a.m. We returned at 10:00 a.m., only to be told they couldn’t get one and should come back at 11:00 instead. It wasn’t about the slushy—it was about the inconsistent information and the way two excited kids were treated. The food throughout the resort was also disappointing. Considering the prices, we expected much better quality. Most meals were average at best and not worth the cost. The beach itself is beautiful, but unfortunately, that was the highlight of our stay. The overcrowding, lack of available seating, poor customer service, inconsistent housekeeping, room maintenance issues, and mediocre food made this feel far from the relaxing family resort we were expecting. There are many other resorts on Florida’s Gulf Coast that provide a much better guest experience, and based on our experience, we would not return to TradeWinds Island Grand.

The location, restaurants, staff, and the place itself was good. Lots for kids to do.

Misleading website makes you think you are getting a lot more included in your daily fee. Also makes you think the obstacle course is every day in the summer. It is not.

Had a great experience getting professional photographs done by Matt with Family Beach Photo. Having that option as part of our package was not only a nice surprise, but the best souvenir we could leave with! As a single mother I'm usually behind the camera, so this was a special treat to get to be in the shot with my beautiful child so I can print and immediately frame! Thank you Matt.

Matt with family beach photo has been taking our sunset family photos for years, and continues to be amazing. Liv and Luke from kids camp treated my kids to a fun filled night with activities around the hotel.

We went to Salty’s to have a drink (which turned into a couple) and our server, Izzy, was super friendly, courteous and made us feel so comfortable during our visit. I would highly recommend going to Salty’s based on the experience that Izzy provided to me and my wife….super fun time and she had a great personality!!!!!

OMG, Izzy and Jess were amazing at the outdoor bar at the Island grand. There were FIFA games going on, the bar was jampacked, and they took care of everyone instantly. We will definitely be here again. Thank you for such a great day.

Slow elevator

Had lunch at Playa Tacos on the resort. Lunch was delicious and our server Trent was great! Very attentive and checked on us multiple times to ensure that we were enjoying our meal.

We ended up taking family beach pictures. Matt (our photographer) with Family Beach Photo, did a great job! He was very nice and our pictures turned out perfect!

Fun resort! Not top shelf quality, but a resort for normal people and their families. It's ON the beach. Beautiful beach. Lots of public spaces for sitting, hammocks, chairs, etc. So much to do. We had the beach front villa, which had the best view - we could see our room from the beach loungers, and go back and forth from the room quickly. The on site restaurants are all surprisingly good. Especially the Italian one. Everything was clean, always clean beach towels available, nice staff everywhere. Very family friendly, so loved that the most. The big slide is free and fun!

Room was smaller than expected but beds very comfortable and clean. Biggest complaint is the room doors are outdoor...like a motel entrance which definitely cheapened an expensive room. Parking is $25 a day on top of thr resort fee. which is always ridiculous if you're staying at the hotel. It was hard to sleep before midnight both nights we were there, the normal fun family oriented pool area by the room seemed to turn into drunk parents being loud at night, though nothing crazy or unsafe, just too much fun, etc....but loud. It died down by midnight. Overall good stay, but not satisfied with the room quality for the price.

I’m a local and came here for lunch. The view is amazing! The food are drink are also very good. Salsa and guac were excellent. We had Jordan and she was so sweet and attentive. She did a great job!

The location

Our room safe did not work and I reported the issue to the front desk the first evening of our 5 night stay. On the 4th evening I received a text message from the hotel asking me if the safe was fixed. I texted back that the safe was still not working and that a technician did not come to our room. Also, there were 8 high school graduates in the room next to us who were extremely loud and they made banging noises on our shared wall. I called the front desk, but the noise continued for the duration of our stay. We specifically selected the resort due to the family friendly reputation, but it was not what we expected.

The new restaurants are awesome. You can tell this place is stepping up its game. Food was great, service was phenomenal. Everything on the property was well tended. We had Trent as a server at Playa. He was attentive and gave great advice on ordering. Our drinks never ran low. He made the experience very fun with his professional but laid-back vibe.

Came in to pass time before headed to the airport to fly home. The visit turned out to be one of the highlights of my trip. The food was fresh and delicious, and our server, Trent treated us as though we really mattered. He was attentive, quick but not too quick, and it was clear that he was proud of his place of work.

We had a great family trip at the hotel. The Playa Taco restaurant was our go to every day for lunch (and sometimes dinner too) and Trent was our guy. Great service and food, always friendly with the kids and helping us explore the different menu options. The overall hotel was a good experience, it's laid back, great for families with kids.

Sam B was a five star! She knows the menu and the resort like the back of her hand. She made our experience a 10/10! We will come back!

Jessica Moore and Jonathan Rudolph worked their magic to secure an amazing room location and even surprised us with champagne, making us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. Jennifer Northcott made the reservation process effortless, while Paris ensured everything ran smoothly throughout our stay. Caitlin Schnell helped coordinate our water activities, and Nicole Liversage and Tyrell made our beach float experience seamless and stress-free. Seth set up the perfect front-row cabanas, giving us the best views and relaxation spot possible. Special thanks to Kyle Jones for his kindness and hospitality that made us feel comfortable and cared for during our entire stay. Every person played a role in creating memories we’ll cherish forever!

My experience was really great. Love the new restaurants, the location is right on the beach with multiple pools. Sam B @ Pete’s was exceptional. She was so friendly and made sure me and my son had a good experience. Would recommend to my friends and family. The rooms are decent and having a fridge is very convenient.

We were staying for 7 days and paid for a gulf from room. When we went to check in, the awesome front desk girl said she would upgrade us to a gulf front room with a kitchenet. The room was spacious and clean.

We didn't realize that they had moved the adults only pool to a different area of the property--to an adjacent building, until the very end of our trip.

Beach staff and Salty’s staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful! Loved my stay for work and loved that it didn’t feel like work because of the sun, the sea, and the shade from the umbrellas (shout out to the awesome service from Benji!) Loved everything at Grande Island at Tradewinds!

The check in

The location right in the beach was perfect! The staff were friendly and very accommodating ! The mattress was extremely comfortable . We enjoyed the shower and bathroom very much! Our room on the top floor W/balcony was exactly what we hoped and expected ! Although we only stayed for none night, we fully intend to return in the not too distant future for a longer stay !

We found that the lighting at night around the pool are and jacuzzis could have been better. One of the 2 jacuzzis was not lit . One the day we checked out we had reservations w/ The Dolphin Racer. We needed to to be present 30 minutes prior to the departure from the Pasadena Ave. location. I went to use the elevators and neither elavator was working . I had to use the stairs from the 7th floor down to the first floor, where I immediately went straight to the bell staff to report that the elevators were not operating properly and we needed to be at the departure point by 10:30. The bell staff did ultimately make it up to our room by elevator but by then the time was 10:45. The bell staff loaded our luggage and we immediately left for The Dolphin Racer departure port . Jenny From The Dolphin Racer , whom we made our reservation, called to asked where we were , as it was now 5 minutes left to departure . I informed her the issue with the elevators caused our delay and pleaded with her not to leave as we would be arriving by 10:55. She assured us the boat would wait . As a result , I feel we are deserving of some kind of partial reimbursement . I felt there was not an urgency given to address the elevator issue which added a great deal of stress to us .

Sonia was so funny and personable. She was laughing with us the entire time we dined in, as if she was a close friend. Her service was exceptional and so is her personality! We would come back just to hangout with her again...and perhaps have a marg with ole gal.

First time dining at the Tradewinds resort and it was a 15/10 with Sonia fitting in with our family and friends dinner. Food was great from the start with fresh chips and salsa and we were able to put food in right away because we were so hungry. What escalated this from a great family dinner to an amazing dining experience was hands down Sonia's attentiveness and overall charisma while taking care of us from start to finish. Definitely highly recommend especially if you are able to request Sonia. (I would assume she may be the busiest waitress in the restaurant from referrals)

Property needs to be updated ; although surroundings and amnesties are nice ; the rooms indoors are NOT. It’s giving OLD and outdated especially for a resort as popular as island grand at tradewinds; honestly for the money we spent; Hilton hotel or Marriott hotel would have been much better when it comes to comfort of interior and cleaner interior and updated supplies in bathrooms.

The property was simply OLD and outdated, we had found mold in one of the bathrooms in the 2 bedroom villa , and then they changed the two bedroom from sixth floor to fourth floor and it was not much better; we had a broken stove , issues with ac and a broken cabinet. Wear and tear everywhere, this is not a good look for visitors spending over 3k, it’s just not pleasant for visitors such as ourselves that like comfort. The staff could have been better when it comes to hospitality and approach; we got a refund of $62 ONLY, but the inconvenience we had to endure was worth way more than $62. We also arrived early on Thursday thinking we could check in early like most hotels and resorts offer , especially travelling from another state, mind you, this was a request we initiated prior to traveling, and once we arrived they made us went for hours, literally , we arrived 11.15am they made us wait until 3pm to check in . I mean it just made no sense ; we are six preceding from Texas and have been on the flight and ready to just change and unload and enjoy the property ; we had our two autistic kids with us at that and that didn’t make any difference to the staff at all; there was no sense of urgency or care. So that was highly disappointing. We wanted to enjoy the entire day for that Thursday but most of it was gone.
