The staff were very kind and spoke very good English. The breakfast was excellent and the wait staff in the bar were very attentive. The rooms were very clean and the complementary amenities were very nice to have.

Excellent location, a stone’s throw from major attractions, but quiet at the same time. The property is very well-maintained, showcasing its heritage elements while offering all modern conveniences. Atmosphere is serene, quiet. We had a garden view suite on the 3rd floor. It was a well-appointed, comfortable room, reasonably spacious, with a safe, plenty of storage space, and all the usual amenities. The room and attached bath were spotless on arrival and the same level of cleanliness was maintained throughout our stay by the housekeeping staff. The staff at all points of service (front desk, housekeeping, dining) were helpful, attentive, polite and friendly. They had (or found) answers to all our (many) questions, including where we could find a tube for posters we’d bought. All in all, we had an excellent experience at this hotel and would recommend it unreservedly.

The staff were excellent. They were very accommodating, helpful and hospitable. They had variety of food to eat for breakfast ( fresh fruits and freshly cooked food), and the service was fantastic.

The elevator was quite tight but I believe most of the hotels in Italy were the same. We have found this out in Rome. This is no big deal.

An amazing stay. Staff was friendly and hotel was clean. I’d like to shout out to Alessandro, he was amazing when we had a couple drinks at happy hour and he was very knowledgeable and I enjoyed talking with him about his family. Would recommend this hotel 100%.

Great location. Big modern room. Drinks in our room to welcome us was nice. Loved that the kids had separate beds. Amazing interior to the hotel. Great breakfast and lovely breakfast room.

The shower was in the room. Meant the room smelt damp not to mention a lack of privacy. The first floor also smelt a bit of drains in the corridor but not enough to stop us staying again. The rooms can be a little noisy of scraping chairs and flushing loos from above/next door. But all in all I would still recommend it.

Location was great. Room was good with a lovely high ceiling and two single chair beds for the kids. We were welcomed with drinks in our room for us all. The design of the room had the shower included in the room which made it a bit damp. And the door opened out which made the floor very wet. Breakfast was in a beautiful setting and delicious. The hotel overall is stunning. But there was a slight odour of damp/drain on the first floor. Wouldn’t put me off staying again though.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. It's in an excellent location, just a short walk from the centre of Florence, making it the perfect base for exploring the city. The rooms were spotlessly clean, and throughout our stay the staff were friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. A special mention goes to Anna in the breakfast area, who looked after my friends and me so well. She even remembered our coffee orders each morning without us having to ask, which was a lovely personal touch. I'd also like to thank Anna from housekeeping for keeping our rooms immaculate while always respecting our privacy and never disturbing us. Finally, a big thank you to the reception team—Ann, Hirela, Alazre, Judith, and Francesco—for your kindness, professionalism, and willingness to help with anything we needed. You all made our stay even more enjoyable. I would happily recommend this hotel and would certainly stay here again when visiting Florence. Grazie

Die Lage ist zentral, Bahnhof und Sehenswürdigkeiten sind zu Fuss erreichbar. Das Hotel ist ein sehr schöner Altbau mit moderner Ausstattung. Das Frühstück ist reichhaltig und alles schmeckt gut. Zwischen halb 6 und halb 9 gibt es auch einen Barbetrieb mit netter Bedienung und leckeren Cocktails. Alles ist sauber und schön arrangiert.

Perfect gelegen hotel, mooi historisch gebouw, goed geïsoleerde en mooie kamers met comfortabele bedden. En zeer lekker ontbijt met veel keuze. Ligt kort aan academia galleria en en bent overal kortbij. Ook bushaltes in de buurt waar je kleine busjes kan nemen die je zo naar de andere kant van de stad brengen.

Hotel Orto De Medici is a fabulous hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful a nice boutique hotel with a personal touch and a lot of history. From the moment we checked in the customer service from all staff members was exceptional. We were given a welcome drinks token on arrival. Book directly with the hotel as there is also a free Minibar provided which is restocked each day. The room was spotless, we had a garden view room which was beautiful . I would like to thank especially 2 staff members for making our stay so special Alazne in reception, i was in contact with her before we arrived as both myself and my partner had milestone birthdays she organised a lovely bottle of prosecco to the room and just her friendliness each day was special and Alessandro in the bar. He shared his knowledge with us about the history of the hotel and we enjoyed our evening drinks and chats with him each evening. Overall every staff member is outstanding. Thank you to all for making our stay in Hotel Orto De Medici special ❤️

Great experience at this hotel. The staff at breakfast were so nice and professional, despite being really busy. The front desk staff were so welcoming too. The ice lollies on demand was a nice touch. The room was large and very clean. So quiet. Fantastic air conditioning in this sweltering heat wave. The only issue was that the hairdryer in room 81 wouldn’t stay on unless you kept the plug permanently pressed into the plug point, which is a bit tedious. Alessandro at bar (where we had our welcome drink) was very pleasant and welcoming. The breakfast was nice. The chocolate stuffed croissants and scrambled eggs were the highlight! It would be nice to have more vegetables at breakfast but this is a personal preference. We really liked the coffee. We liked the location - a short walk to the centre and train station. If we are ever lucky enough to visit the beautiful city of Florence again, we would have no hesitation in booking this lovely hotel again.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Florence. The location was fantastic—within easy walking distance of all the major attractions, restaurants, and shopping, making it the perfect home base for exploring the city. The air conditioning worked perfectly, which was especially appreciated after long days of sightseeing in the Florentine heat. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. We were greeted with a complimentary bottle of Prosecco in our room, along with a welcome drink at the bar—a thoughtful touch that made our stay feel extra special. What a find! An oasis of calm whilst in a busy, very hot Florence. The rooms were fabulous, ours a garden room with a third bed for adult daughter was huge and absolutely ideal for our family. All the staff were so friendly and lots of choice at breakfast set us up for busy days exploring. Orto de Medici - thank you!

Location was excellent. Easy and flat 15 minute walk to almost every must see in Florence, Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, 5 minutes from Accademia. Room was spotless and great size. Bathroom / shower was perfect. Breakfast was great with lots of choice and staff always offering coffee etc. Will stop here again.

Wow ! I wanted to book somewhere really nice for our 30th wedding anniversary - I chose very well. I was initially a little concerned that it was too far out from the centre, but actually its perfectly located yards from the Tram 2 stop at PIazza di san Marco, 12 mins or so stroll from the train station (we did this) and also the coach station for escorted tours to Sienna and other places and also coach back to Pisa airport (we did both) whilst also being 5-8 mins nice stroll to the Duomo and the historic centre of Florence and easy access thereafter to other sights - we walked everywhere, no buses, no trams no taxis and at 37 degrees that shows you that it was well located. So thats the location box ticked. In terms of facilities, whilst in the heat of the heatwave it would have been nice to have a pool, there really are not many in Florence (in my budget anyway) so a lovely bit of garden area, comfy outside seating/loungers and we also upgraded to a balcony were all lovely to have - I would recommend a balcony for sure, we sat out in the mornings and evenings, and were lucky enough to watch the San Giovanni festival fireworks on our last night. The hotel itself is steeped in history, very well air conditioned and has a bar and lounge area. The greeting we got at reception was superb, and the lovely ladies who kept the breakfast topped up and knew exactly what coffee we wanted as soon as we turned up were so helpful - in fact everyone was really lovely. As we booked directly we were advised that we had a free minibar which was stocked with soft drinks, alcoholic drinks, snacks and water - it was a nice bonus. I pushed the boat out a little as this cost me more than i'd usually spend, but it was both a fashion show weekend and also the final of the Calcio Storico and the feast of san giovanni so the who city was busy and all hotels were expensive but this was well worth it and if and when we return to Florence I would definiteley book again - we spent a whole week in Florence (punctuated by a trip to SIena/San Gimignano & Monteriggioni and a few pre booked tours (as we did for our honeymoon 30 years ago) and it is a fabulous city with lovely people, superb restaurants and food and mind blowing history and the Orto De Medici and its staff made it unforgettable !.

In a Europe wide heatwave, with Florence simmering, the Hotel Orto De' Medici provided a cool and quiet oasis. Room was comfortable and very well air conditioned. A major plus! All of the hotel staff we encountered were professional and extremely friendly. Special mention must tho go to Allessandro in the bar, for his courteousness and brilliant knowledge of the history of the hotel. Breakfast was a treat and a big thank you to Estelyn for her smiling service. Unusally for a hotel, the fruit salad was wonderful, full of fresh fruit including strawberries. The custard croissants were also extraordinary and may partly help to explain the weight we put on over the few days we were there! A nice touch in the heat was the freezer in the reception area where you could help yourself to a free ice pop. Hotel is about a ten minute walk to the main attractions, although it is a mere few minutes to see Michaelangelo's David. There are also a number of good restaurants within a five minutes stroll. Overall, would highly recommend.

We had a wonderful stay! The location is excellent, just a straightforward walk to all the main attractions and the heart of Florence, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the city on foot. The breakfast was one of the highlights of our stay, the pistachio croissant was absolutely to die for! It quickly became something we looked forward to every day. Another unexpected highlight was the bathroom amenities. The shower products smelled amazing, and I genuinely regret not getting some before checkout. I find myself missing that wonderful scent every time I take a shower! The room itself was on the smaller side, but that's completely understandable given the hotel's prime city-centre location.

A wonderful hotel all around! The staff and service was excellent. Having recently celebrated a milestone wedding anniversary, they went out of their way to make us feel special. And the location was perfect! We can’t wait to stay there again in the future.

We stayed as 2 couples in rooms 22 and 20 and had a great stay. Rooms were spacious and very clean with large bathrooms and great air-con. Everything was provided from toiletries through to a kettle, tea, coffee and bottled water every day. The building looks unassuming from the outside but that's not the case once you enter. The breakfast room and courtyard were lovely, with space to relax. The staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble, going out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. would recommend...

Hotel Bar was only open between 17:30 and 20:30 and the selection was limited, although the barstaff were brilliant.

The hotel is structured smartly such that you face an inside garden, so light comes in and you dont hear the traffic from the room, at least the one i booked. Its about 10mins walk which is fine, i dont want to stay way to close in crowded attractions. The reception and dining staffs are all very helpful and kind, i think they hired the right people. High ceiling and interior is nice.

It’s a tat expensive for the junior suite, i felt overpaid although hotel is nice. Toliet is huge with bath and toliet section, i think they can mute the toliet glass for privacy and safety, almost bang into the glass door. Breakfast was okay, doable range but can see how to better the taste.

Beautiful spacious hotel near San Marco and Academia with courtyard garden for afternoon drinks and lovely breakfast. Quiet yet near everything. Elegant interiors and wonderful staff who were super helpful with securing various “skip the line” tickets. Florence even outside peak season is insanely crowded and hectic and this hotel was a true oasis!

We enjoyed the central location of this property because most everything we wanted to do was walkable. It was very quiet, the room was huge, so plenty of room for suitcases. There was one chair to sit in, a large tv (we never used it) teas and pocket coffees and water kettle. The bathroom was large and towels were great. Though no American sized wash cloths there. Whole hotel was clean. The breakfast was delicious with many gluten free options if desired.

This is our second time in Florence and we chose this hotel because the previous one which we loved didn’t have availability for 4 people, this time we traveled with our children. Well, what a great surprise!!! Orto de Medici was amazing!!! Very well located, quiet, well maintained, great amenities, fantastic staff. The breakfast was delicious with great variety and amazing quality. Everyone was welcoming and nice to us. The room was spacious, something very strange to find in Europe. The beds and linens great as well. We loved every single moment of our stay in Orto de Medici and we would love to go back. 100% recommended.
