We didn't get to use the gym
Have stayed many times as convenient for my office. Hotel is nice, nothing flashy, but beds comfy, rooms clean, breakfast nice and staff friendly. Only area that needs improving is the evening food menu.
Used the pool, sauna and steam room for the first time. Very nice added extra
Unfortunately our stay was not good. We really echo some other reviews in that the hotel bedrooms need a massive overhaul, out dated furniture, dull decor, dirty carpets, boiling hot (too hot to get a decent night sleep), mould on bathroom ceiling, we could add more but to be honest would just rather erase the experience!
Great room, definitely worth the extra for a suite, it was huge with lots of character. Was there for an event the service behind the bar, despite being extremely busy was fabulous.
Just as expected with a quality facility and good value
Always a great stay
Room was clean but only one teabag and not enough milk - sign in door of bathroom informing guests to shut door when showering because condensation/steam makes the fire alarm go off - this happened at 6.45 ish in the morning !
Stayed many times.
Carpets need updating, food good.
Lovely
Lovely hotel I would recommend but more suitable for personal/ couples stay not business trip, food was lovely. friendly atmosphere. The only negative I would say is although I paid extra for an executive room - the room I was given was not up to that standard and was very basic and small compared to other hotels standards.
Excellent, efficient restaurant. Only critique is the lack of a fridge in the room. We had a fire alarm at 6:30am because someone took a shower with the bathroom door open. Despite notice on door so it must be a frequent false alarm.
The grounds are very pretty the inside and rooms are a little tired, the breakfast was very good....however did not appreciate being woken at 6:40 am by the fire alarm and having to evacuate in my pj's....no apology received...i know these things happen and atleast it was a false alarm, but impaired our stay and sleep.
Everything about the hotel was just right
Lovely grounds ,and main lobby is charming.. The rooms could do with sprucing up , especially the bath tub and carpet . Also we were advised water works going on at the hotel on Sunday after 0900 which would affect the amount of water in rooms .we didn't think much of it ,but the next day ,there was actually no water at all after 0900,not even to flush toilets which I don't think is right for hotel rooms.
The hotel is very nice, the room was big, and the bed was comfortable. However, the main shower head did not work properly (no hot water), there was no shower gel in the dispenser, and the TV had no signal (no channels available). When I tried to contact reception using the room telephone it was constantly engaged. When I went down to the reception, the receptionist was talking on the phone to her friend using the main hotel phone. To be fair to the other hotel staff, they did respond promptly, fixed the TV and refilled the shower gel. I would not stay there again or recommend.
Great place. Checkin super easy. Room was a twin and lovely. Shower pucker too which is important. Pool was a lovely touch and breakfast was monster.
Its a terrible shame that the gardens have been left to go wild. The stonework is crumbling and decaying badly. The room was tired ie bathroom Silicone black in places.
Very lovely building and surrounding gardens. I used the pool ot the Club each day and really enjoyed the facilities there.
Only had breakfast but a good selection. The room was clean and comfortable . Chilworth Manor has lovely grounds and a conservation are which is worth exploring and has swimming and other facilities.
Make sure you drive to stay here , and you organise taking your own food and drink at this is a remote hotel. It was perfect for us , but I wanted to be honest about the location.
The public areas within the hotel were clean and tidy, but out executive room was very small and tired, large crack and water damage to ceiling, worn furniture, mold around shower glass, poorly finished carpentry and towel rail ready to fall of the wall! Most of the staff were polite and helpful and facilities were good, such a pity about the state of what could have been a beautiful terraced garden.
The food was delicious, but due to an event, our first night was unbearable due to excessive noise. The hotel refunded this night so that was commendable. Overall the stay was good but the facilities are not as nice as shown in the pics. The camera person should be nominated for photographer of the year.
It was a great place to stay. The spa and pool were great.
The only negative, we returned back at the hotel around 11/12 pm.our key card didn’t work . Went to reception and there was nobody there . Spent 5 minutes working around calling out , eventually someone came to reception It would be helpful if they had a bell to ring ..
Requested change of dates due to family circumstances, this was denied on Monday 28/9/25. Retuned to hotel on 29/9/25 until 1/8/25 to use the paid room Meal in restaurant overpriced and lacked vegetables Bar & lounge chairs uncomfortable and to low for the tables Bar food good and reasonably priced Disappointed to find the leisure facilities (swimming pool & gym) weren't on-site. They were in a leisure centre 5 minutes walk away
So disappointing, the room was dated with either flaking paint or mould on the outer wall. The food was vile, chicken Caesar salad with a pink boiled chicken breast drowned in dressing and at the nice price of £20, the staff totally disregarded my issues even when I left the food on the bowl. The receptionist when checking out asked me how my stay was and I replied with terrible replied with oh dear!! Give a wide berth
I was greeted warmly by a male receptionist. It was late as I had been to a concert at Romsey Abbey. Parking was difficult close to the hotel but found spaces in The Club area. My room was ok but needed a bit of modernising. Bathroom was more modern but had shower curtain rather than a screen. I personally prefer a walk in shower to a shower over the bath. The room was so hot. The window did open but still hot. A notice said keep bathroom door closed when using. I didn’t do that as I realised I couldn’t turn the door knob so if I had pushed the door closed I wouldn’t have been able to open it again! Breakfast was very good and the staff were very friendly.
Nice property but unfortunately the night we stayed there was a prom and we were put in a room opposite the dance room so not ideal with an early start the next day. Pool and steam room were ok and only stayed one night. Great Indian restaurant close by called Raja. Very good!
Very welcoming and comfortable. Really good buffet breakfast
Ok
Enjoyed the beautiful grounds
Very bad experience from the checkin to the missing room service, not able to fix the safe, did not reply to the request for breakfast and unwilling to assist with luggage to be carried to the second floor since the hotel don’t have a lift for their guests! No availability for a room upgrade! All in all it was our worst experience of booking and staying in a hotel.
Excellent looking hotel, staff very nice. Lobby area and bar/ restaurant outstanding visually, Room a little tired, with chips and marks on enamel and room, but still clean and tidy
Very beautiful building with lots of history, room was okay , food and drink very expensive
Really nice hotel with lovely food
Arrived late and received a small (i mean no room to put two suitcases down) twin bed not even a queen size so truly a small room. Had the amenities i imagine for a renovated or converted older build type hotel, no AC however and windows that didn't seem to want to open much.... requested room turn over each night and got 2 out of 4...the last day we asked for just towels and despite there being two of us got one set! Got the romance package and told them we were arriving late (1030)...the ice had melted by the time we arrived! while good at the time, the then eaten chocolate strawberries that i requested (as a treat for my partner) stayed in the room for 2 days until i moved them outside the door where they stayed until the end of day 3... yes these are all first world problems but make a difference to the overall impression and service ethos of a place... staff were available, just not always effective, a pet friendly place, so lots of four legged greetings in the lobby the hot breakfast was way over priced for the contents, but hey ho we tried... In summary a lovely setting for one or maybe two nights... Oh PS, we went to the pool / spa...pool not available due to pre planned kids lessons / other activities, spa, looked fantastic but we sat and waited to find out more and the place seemed way under staffed, so we moved on....
The whole venue looks run down. Paint peeling off windows. The whole place neeeds re decorating. The price for drinks is way expensive
Beautiful building in a quiet location. The staff were very helpful especially the receptionist Natalie who was very understanding over my predicament of maybe needing a room if my Dad was released from hospital late that same day. Good breakfast. Fan in room which I used as it was warm.
First thing to note: Really nice and helpful people working throughout the Hotel. Beautiful grounds and surrounding areas, a spotlessly clean hotel and a lovely place to relax. Absolutely terrific breakfast, and a special mention for the sausages.
Always top quality and amazing staff
Booked to stay with my daughter and grand-daughter after visiting Peppa Pig World. Asked for a family room. Was given double room with a very poor fold up bed. Slats were broken, collapsed in night and the mattress was extremely thin. Didn't report it in the night as my grand-daughter was sleeping and we didn't want her disturbed. I reported in morning though. Family is not child-friendly. I had booked as they had a swimming pool - when booked in, told children not allowed in pool apart from few hours on a weekend so we couldn't use it, so disappointed. Breakfast however was very good.
Beautiful property. Everything was sparkling. Meal was great.
The breakfast was good and the reception was friendly but the condition of the hotel wasn’t great. The bathroom wasn’t very clean and the glasses and spoons in the room were dirty. The carpets were very stained as well.
Lovely gardens some noise from plumbing but it’s an old building
Not bad but tired in places but lovely location as it’s a Manor House nice gardens & grounds enjoyed sauna & steam room & pool didn’t stay for breakfast
It is a quaint hotel in lovely grounds. The bar and Central area was beautiful. The executive room (9) was cosy but adequate. The bed was comfy, the shower was good and the room was clean and tidy. The toilet was very low so not suitable for someone with mobility issues. There was also no lift so lugging a large suitcase up the stairs was fun! Breakfast was good. Staff were all excellent. Had a problem finding a car parking space near the entrance. It must be a parking hotel for the cruises so it was a little walk back to the car each day. Overall, a lovely stay.
Nice old country house hotel on the outskirts of Southampton. Plenty of free parking and lovely free breakfast. Been before and will be staying again. Very good value for money.
It was ok
We stayed here for one night prior to going on a cruise. Good location not far from the cruise terminal but in a quiet area with plenty of parking. Nice breakfast next morning. Only negatives are the early checkout time of 10am and the bar prices.
We stayed in the family room. This consisted of a small double bed and a Z bed which was extremely hard with not much space in the room. The hotel rooms cleanliness was a 3/10 - the room needed a good clean and hoover. We had the breakfast 1 morning out of 3. For £13PP it is mediocure, they had run out of fruit the cooked breakfast is clearly sitting there for a while. Most dissoppointing was that the coffee and tea came from a machine. The staff were all very friendly. We had a child and I had not read the hotel facilities description. Children are not allowed to use the pool unless its a bank holiday or weekend ( with limited time slots ). This meant very little to entertain if you have children. Unfortunately we will not be returning. I would not advise families attend this hotel.
Stayed for date night. Booked because of the locality and the spa. Will return again.
No room service option as was the case on our previos visits. Also quality of in room refreshment tray has declined ( no biscuits!). Crumbs on dining room chair on arrival for afternoon tea. However the afternoon tea was very good and the breakfast was also good and varied.
I liked it was pet friendly and lovely grounds to walk around breakfast was excellent loads of choice and buffet style
A little dated in places but generally clean
A lovely hotel set with beautiful gardens. The room was comfortable and spacious with a lovely view of the garden. From reception, to the bar and the room service staff were all very helpful and pleasant. Pool facilities were also well maintained.
We had a 1 night stay before our cruise the next day , we stayed in room 21 All the staff were lovely and food was really good The hotel is in beautiful grounds and is a very historical grand building But I’m afraid things needs updating , huge horrible stains in carpets in room and around hotel , wallpaper peeling off the wall in bedroom , and large stain on the ceiling , shower bath area needs re grouting , mould around seal , old paint left on door handles etc Needs someone to go round make a list of repairs and sort out , was a little dirty around floor in the bathroom too One more thing to add , coffee machine in restaurant for breakfast doesn’t offer decaf coffee !!! With a husband with heart failure this isn’t good enough It’s 2025 Apart from the above , not a bad stay Not sure it was worth £152
Been twice and enjoyed it both times. Friendly staff and tidy hotel. Spa could be better as on the second trip the steam room and sauna were not working.
It is clear that the hotel used to be the top place in the area but those days are long gone. The property is absolutely stunning but has been left poorly maintained. Steps around the property are falling apart, grass hasn't been cut in many areas. The conservation area just next to the hotel is stunning bht it would help to have some signs in different areas to explain what you are looking at. Check in was smooth at 3pm, althought after paying the dog fee for our stay, we were asked to sign a document confirming we will not leave the dog in the room unattanded for any period of time. This is something we haven't encountered in any dog friendly hotel before. We were given a some treats for the dog, which was nice. The prices for food and drink in the hotel are steep and dont really reflect the service. We ordered a mocktail after which they admitted they have never made that before and didnt know it was on the menu. The room was clean and warm but dated and the walls are paper thin. The spa is 5 minutes walk from the main building in the Club. We have been told in the reception that the Club receptionist will be able to tell us all about the treatments and prices which we are excited to book. The Club reception told us the spa section of the Club has been rented to a private company and they are not offering any treatments yet, so nothing available. The pool was slightly on a the colder side but spacious. The jacuzzi was covered in foam, sauna was cold, I could keep going...
A large building suitable for conferences with plenty of breakout rooms. Checkout is only 10am. Could be extended by paying a fee. Early breakfast cooked + continental, weekday breakfast closes at 9:30, leaving 30mins to leave the room if you are slowcouch in the morning, as we are. Extensive grounds to relax in.
Great location but hotel is dated, tired and needs some love When trying to ring reception prior to arrival, very frustrated as it kept going to ansaphone, didnt get ring back and just felt that for such a large hotel having someone answer the phone is fundamental, we tried at least 6 times between 10am -11.30am on a Saturday morning We noticed Stains on carpets in corridors, rubbish in stairwells, walls were marked Room was fine, clean but quite old fashioned Breakfast was ok, buffet style, self service, but slow to replenish empty food, ie no eggs, juice jug empty, only one hot drink machine working The stay was fine, definitely no more than 3 star
Excellent location grounds and communal facilities. Restaurant and Breakfast location and atmosphere very good and friendly. Room adequate but bed in our opinion was too soft.
It was amazing, just need pancakes on the continental 😂
Has a spa,bonus
Beds could be a little harder but otherwise excellent hotel.cashless is a thing to remember.
Very good value for money, breakfast good, sausages tough and dense though, eggs super. All very clean. Staff delightful, but no toilet paper or tissues in en suite. Very pretty grounds.
I was only staying one night so didn't make use of the facilities so can only comment on my room. Bed was very comfortable and room was clean which is what I would expect from being a 3-star hotel. I did have an issue with the bathroom though. The shower didn't really work, pressure not good, and shower curtain came down while pulling it closed! Tap water seemed a bit sporadic. Staff service excellent!
Hotel and room was clean. Very nice grounds. But lacking in the basics, no decaf tea bags or coffee. Really disappointing as it’s more common now. Late night noise from staff rearranging tables. Dragging across the floor rather than lifting.
In lovely grounds, hotel very comfortable. Menu limited
Beautiful man or house with a comfortable bed but the noisy bathroom meant that because I'm a light sleeper I had a terrible night sleep and had a headache in the morning from the noisy fan unfortunately this means we would not stay again.
Loca
Overall the property was good.
Lovely country hotel
Always good stay, friendly staff
Lovely position with great garden views and good walking
Great stay, loved the Leisure club after a long day on the road!
The property looks better in photos
Lovely well-presented hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Out Standard Double room was comfortable, with all the amenities you'd like for a night's stay. The surrounding gardens were superb, and the hotel was very accessible to the local area and main routes.
We've stayed in this hotel previously and it always lives up to our expectations. The price for B&B is very good, although the bar menu could do with improving. We ate our evening meal at the Chilworth Arms which is busy but nearby. The staff are lovely and I'm sure we'll stay again.
A lovely gem in the English countryside . Only downside is the lack of an elevator for upper floors. Breakfast is superb
Staff and room was perfect. The meal was overly expensive for what it was. The area arund the hotel is picturesque and the manor house looks beautiful. The meal i would compare to a up beat weatherspoons not worth the fortune it costs. I have stayed in another smae brand hotel in Sheffield and the food is much better quality. I have to say though the restaurant staff are 5 star
The bed was not comfortable. Pushing 2 single beds together is not always good
Lovely hotel set in spacious and decorative grounds. I have stayed her once before and parking became awkward after 7pm. Very nice room with a good spec. Shower was ok but the shower heads had seen better days and there was noticeable mould on the tile grouting. The night's sleep was not very comfortable but I woke up to get a fantastic breakfast from the buffet available. The hotel guests have access to a small but well-equipped gym and had plenty of nearby options for dining.
We had room 6- Room 6 has the kitchen extractor fan going through the room in a cupboard- so a constant humming grumbling noise. I spoke to a member of staff about moving they said not possible as fully booked- the kitchen will turn off the extractor about 9 o’clock at night- it turned off at 09;45 - then turned back on for breakfast at 5;30- on a Sunday. A weekend away to relax and got was woken by this grumbling noise. Staff didn’t care. Had a broken hairdrier when called reception - I got asked if I was using it properly. It was broken. Shower seemed to squirt everywhere, and occasionally lost power and became a dribble. Spa was ok- steam room not been working for 5 months- this is one of the reasons we booked here. I realise the manor is older but the floor boards are awfully squeaky. Breakfast was nice. Won’t be staying again at a best western hotel
A very nice stay generally where dinner was very nice and the breakfast too. The place/decor needs a little tender loving care as some age is visible in rooms and bathroom. TW.
Saltayed here quite a few times, it is always great food cleanliness all great, the shame this was the bed was terrible. Matress was bouncy and was worse than a air bed. Duvet was summer and very thin. I would expect better quality. Complained but no help or want to help which was very poor service.
The hotel and staff were amazing, we loved the hotel and the beautiful grounds. The location was ideal visiting the New Forest and Southampton. The only thing that spoiled our trip was the stupidly expensive bar prices, We stay in a lot of hotels, so we are used to inflated prices, but these were obcene for mid ranged hotel! £21 for a pint of Carlsberg and Gin& Tonic!!
Room was fine. Hotel was nice. Booked as had pool and little girl (3) lives swimming. Only on arrival did I find out that under 18s couldn’t use the pool except between 3-5 which was no good for us. Extremely disappointed by this.
Lovely hotel, great building, nice gym, nice sized room, friendly staff at reception and cleaning, e, pensive food on an evening with small menu
Stayed in room no1 and although I knew the bed was on another level I had not realised it was on another floor. With corkscrew stairs to get there. Not ones to use if you were drunk. I would recommend leaving your case down stairs as there is a wardrobe there and awkward carrying a case up those stairs. Loved the room though.
Only stayed one night with our dog. We were allowed to take her for a walk anywhere on the grounds which were extensive. Had our evening meal and breakfast with other dog owners in the bar area which was great. Staff very friendly and helpful - will definitely be returning.
Comfortable enough stay but the room temperature was cold with little chance of improvement given the size of the single radiator. There was also damp/mold gathering on the ceiling in the bathroom. (Room No:14)
Great staff, thank you.
Comfortable room with adequate facilities. Room was a bit cold to start with as there was no heating on, despite winter weather. Heating was by direct electric panel heater so was reasonably quick to act. Set 3 course evening meal was OK but not great value. Breakfast good. We may well use this hotel again.
This hotel is nice and clean, staff are friendly and polite, the room was excellent clean, I had to cut the weekend short because I come unwell and decided to go home I didn’t want anyone else to get it and spoil there stay .
The rooms were miserable and drab. Not so much as a picture on the walls to cheer up the dim lighting and awful wall colour. Depressing space. The soundproofing from the function hall is poor. You can hear the ongoing thumping bass sound from the music being played there.
We had a 2 night stay. The hotel and our room was very clean. Friendly staff. Unfortunately our sleep was disturbed on the first night at 01.30hrs by a female group who had obviously been out partying.
Have stayed many times. This time was in room 11. Avoid. The bed is small and the walls paper thin. I could here everything going on in the room next door.
The room was a decent size and the breakfast was really good. The staff were helpful. The drinks were somewhat expensive.
