Gym, breakfast, close to everything. Will definitely consider to book the hotel again.

Design mistake in the toilet due to the sink was just above my knees. Two gigantic beds could be one bed and some sofa and table could be instead. Bed was hard and we came from Glasgow where the bed was significantly more comfortable.

Location with view to Edinburgh Castle fantastic. Clean and comfortable

Overly complicated to order room service and get staff to answer the phone once you'd given up trying to download the app. Staff could have mentioned on arrival the ramp which would have made moving luggage much easier.

The location was amazing, and our view (which we paid for) was outstanding. Cleanliness was very good.

There was standing water in the shower, even after we requested that the management look into it. The room smelled musty unless the window to the deck was open. We asked for a key to keep the door to the deck ajar, and were given the incorrect one. We ended up using a sports bra to gap the door and ventilate our room. It is an old hotel that has been updated somewhat unsuccessfully. The breakfasts were fairly mediocre on a European standard.

The bathroom was too small The tub in the shower came up to my mid thigh. Very hard to get in and out for someone older

The room had a view of Edinburgh Castle. The staff were very kind and had friendly smiles. The bed was comfortable, and I had a pleasant stay.

The bathtub plug was broken, and although they promised to come and fix it the next morning, they didn't show up. I had been planning to soothe my tired feet in the bathtub, so it was very disappointing.

Excellent location in Grassmarket. Restaurants and pubs near by. The staff was fabulous and accommodating. Only thing is on Google it looked like it was a short walk from the Princes St tram stop. It is not! Lots of steps to carry luggage up. That’s not the hotels fault but just a courtesy heads up to other travelers!

The staff were very helpful with carrying both suitcases upon arrival and the stroller during our stay. The breakfast was excellent, and room service was fast, good, and reasonably priced.

Not a bad located hotel, the room was a good size and was clean.

Settling my bill at check-in was insisted upon, which is pretty unusual. The staff demeanor was cold and robotic. The family room we had has no aircon, quite surprising, although aircon wasn't shown as being present. The hotel felt quite corporate and sterile.

The location was fantastic. Couldn’t have picked a better spot. Staff on arrival were very helpful and friendly. We were lucky to get an early check-in that made our day activities go ahead smoothly. Breakfast was included and it was excellent. We tried the Scottish breakfast.

It was good to have parking, but after playing a premium price for the room, £20 on top for the parking.

Parking was hard to find. But we managed ok. I’d say it was more our fault than anything else due to being new to driving on the left hand side.

Die Lage ist TOP. Mitten im Geschehen, die Bar ist ok, auch das Frühstück war sehr gut. Das Pool war einigermaßen warm, und die Sauna heiß. Leider gibt es keinen Ruheraum.

Der hohe Preis hat eindeutig etwas mit der Lage zu tun. Denn bei einem 4-Sterne Hotel erwarte ich mir eine schönere Pool-Landschaft und vor allem keinen Schimmel bei der Badewanne. Es war natürlich cool während dem August-Festival in der Stadt zu sein. Aber wenn man genau oberhalb von Hof sein Fenster hat, und dieses komplett undicht ist, hört man auch die Leute bis in die Nacht hinein.

They gave us obstacled view room although we paid city view room and you dont see any of those rooms in the booking site of the hotel. After staying in that room 1 night we asked for a change because when we did checkin receptionist told us theyre fully booked and she told us with an attitude! The other day we asked for changing our room to and they gave us the room we actually paid for. But unfortunately room was not clean it looked clean but there was a unbearable smell. I dont know where was it coming from maybe from the carpet. Not worth the money we paid for.

Location and the breakfast (which in my opinion the cooked breakfast is right up there! Some people may think other selections not that good but for me the cooked is one of the best I have had)

During our whole trip where we stayed in four different hotels, this was the best one. Great location, friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast and wonderful room.

The room was too hot with no aircon only a portable table fan. The door to the balcony was broken. The bed for a 4 star hotel was uncomfortable was like sleeping on springs. Over priced hotel overall

Loved the birthday items set up for my son. Upgrade to the room with the castle view was a lovely surprise for us adults. The location is perfect. Reception staff and head waiter/waitress in the restaurant was good too. The evening meal was lovely, steaks were cooked perfectly, however the onion rings were burnt.

The rooms are a little tired in places. The breakfast was disappointing, the vegetarian breakfast was overcooked, namely the sausages,veg haggis and .poached egg were all over cooked and hard. One waitress had long plaited hair but I noticed the end of it was swiping into people's food when she was carrying the plates, she also had no personal skills. The breakfast was not replenished and with an hour still left of service, some food items from the hot area was out of stock. There was a spillage made by another guest and none of the waiting staff thought to clean it up. It was a slip hazard and I informed the head person who immediately set to cleaning it. We didnt have breakfast again as we didnt think it was worth it.

Das Obst und der Joghurt beim Frühstück standen ungekühlt da, entsprechend unappetitlich sah das Ganze dann leider auch aus.

Das Personal am Buffet und im Restaurant war sehr nett, auch die Reinigungsmitarbeiter. An der Rezeption sind sie sehr unfreundlich und überhaupt nicht kundenorientiert.

It was very warm inside the hotel, in the room, in the hallway, breakfast area. Very uncomfortable. We had a fan in our room and had to leave the balcony door open. And the»balcony» is no balcony in mine standards…. Lovely view of the castle but it was more like a fire escape balcony. Could not sit out side, and it looks very shabby. Very expensive and felt like we did not get value for our money. Breakfast was good, but it was short of staff so we had to approach the waitress to take out order . At the front desk it was only one man and a long queue of guests needing attention. Would not stay here again.

Der Blick auf Edinburgh Castel war sehr beeindruckend. Die Lage ist perfekt um die Altstadt zu erkunden. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Die Lage vom Hotel ist super und der Ausblick auf Edinburgh Castle aus den großen Zimmerfenstern ist fantastisch, diesen Bereich haben unsere Kinder auch gerne als Spielecke genutzt. Sehr gute Auswahl beim Frühstück mit der zusätzlichen Bestelloption an warmen Speisen wie u.a. Eggs Benedict, Ei mit schottischem Lachs.

Rezeption mehrfach nicht über Telefon erreichbar, Wenn man dann an die Rezeption geht stehen 3 Mitarbeiter unbeschäftigt rum und erzählen von dem Stress.. Sanitäre Anlagen im Restaurantbereich unakzeptabel, noch nicht mal Bahnhofsniveau. Preis Leistung undiskutabel, war der letzte (dritte) Besuch!

L'hôtel est vieillot et assez bruyant. Le personnel n'est pas toujours aimable notamment le midi au restaurant ou au bar de l'hôtel. La piscine n'était pas accessible au moment de notre séjour.

The room was at the back where there was a noisy bar which could still be heard with the window shut and the room was very warm and no air conditioning only a small fan.

Sink is way too low. Getting out of the slippery tub is a hazard. No ramp at entry to roll luggage to check-in….location is on the side of the hotel…not obvious. Employees do not hold doors so they slam shut…doors are too loud when they close. Employees talk and laugh loudly at all hours…easily heard outside the door. One employee kept whistling to others. They need to keep quiet! Caters to large tour groups that take up breakfast area early am.

The cleanliness of the hotel was far below acceptable standards. The rooms, common areas, and facilities were noticeably dirty and had an unpleasant smell throughout. unavailability of air conditioning made the stay extremely uncomfortable.

Beds were extremely comfortable and the room was spacious. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Pool and gym facilities were clean and pleasant to use. Great location in the city centre

Bath was unfortunately dirty when we arrived with rust in the basin and the plug didn’t seal meaning when we ran a bath the water did not stay in the tub. We also paid a lot of money to stay and were placed in a room directly overlooking the very busy, extremely loud bar area for edinburgh fringe which was noisy from very early in the morning all day until 1am every night of our stay, unless we closed the windows but then the room was too hot. We appreciate it’s a busy time to go and have nothing against the festival itself (in fact that’s why we were in the city) but I did not feel for the price we paid for our room we should have had to put up with that, it was our impression there were other rooms free in the hotel so am not sure why they would put anyone in that room at this particular time of year if they didn’t have to.

Had an accessible room which was a great size .

The property was so hot during our stay. A fan was provided but did little to help. Even though this was Edinburgh the hotel will have to tackle this as was very uncomfortable.Also I have a disability scooter and nowhere did it mention steps.( to reception. breakfast, and bar.)

The location in the Grassmarket area was excellent.

It was very expensive. There was no air conditioning in the rooms or throughout the hotel, so was very hot. We needed our windows open and therefore it was extremely noisy at 6 am when the bins were being collected.

The staff are definitely 5 stars! We left glasses in the room, the reception team helped us sending back the glasses, it is the most busiest time in Edinburgh, so sorry to trouble them, really appreciate the help from reception team: Ethan, Jen and Sara.

Getting in the tub/shower could be difficult as no grab bar and to step over the tub was higher than normal .

The beds were extremely hard line sleeping on a sheet of plywood.

This hotel is well placed for the festival, the service is good, ordinarily the room would be what you expect for a mid priced room but in the height of the season you pay for the convenience and location. It has a pool and it is very comfortable. They keep your bags on check out day so you don;t have to lug them around.

The check in is quite slow so I recommend you do this online before you arrive. The price is high for the room size and quality but this is because rooms this central in Edinburgh in August are like gold dust.

The bath was very slippery and the bathmat provided was dirty. The access ramp was closed off when we arrived and there are 10+ stairs to the ground floor. Didn’t have plug adapters or at least just usb adapters

The hallways and rooms were very hot. Bathroom had a lot of cosmetic damage and water went every where while the shower was running. Shower drained slowly.

Pillows squshed to nothing when laid on. Milk/tea etc... not topped up daily. Requests made prior to arrival via email (purchase of birthday package); had not been communicated to the appropriate people.

The view from our room gave onto the car park and bins. The exterior from the outside did not particularly match the standard expected. The room was nice but the bathroom was a little dated. Price was a little excessive considering are stay was relatively basic.

The “ac” they claim to have is a fan on the desk. Thankfully they do have extras if you need one you just have to ask.

It was a nice hotel, close to everything we wanted to see. We had champagne and roses waiting for us in the room since it was our 10th wedding anniversary, which is nice. Breakfast was all right too.

The only thing I want to complain about is that the previous guests had left food in the fridge so it smelled kinda bad in the room when we arrived so we had to throw it out ourselves.

It was very nice to find the gift from the staff while arrived. Also hot chocolate for kids in the room and water in a common space were right on target. Staff was polite and helpful.

We had a family room which was fine for 4 people. The bathroom was in comparison quite small for 4 people. It was very warm and as the grassmarket is just in front of the window it was otherwise quite noisy. But the view on the castle out of the window was exceptional!

Location is the main plus of this hotel. The room was spacious for being inner city. Really loved the on site parking. Very close to food and tourist sites.

We had room 4011. The floor in the bathroom and near the door was definitely heated on the first day—probably over 90 degrees; still heated on the 2nd day but less heated. This left our room HOT. The entire 4th floor was WAY TOO WARM in the hallways. How on earth in the Edinburgh weather is the hotel 80+ degrees inside? How can anyone enjoy sleeping in a room with that kind of heat? Yes, we could open the door to the outsde, but we wouldn’t leave that open all night because we needed to close off the light and the street noise. Change the mattresses already; those are FAR below standard for the price of the room. And the elevator “down” button didn’t work. We’d have to push ‘up’, go up and then go back down. Seriously? For over 400 pounds a night?

Locatie, zwembad en het personeel. Vooral de oudere man met zijn brilletje aan de receptie was uitzonderlijk vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

De prijs is gewoon hoog maar dat is Edinburgh. Wij hebben hierdoor alles zo ingepland dat we maar 1 nacht in Edinburgh zelf verbleven.

The location is handy for Edinburgh Castle if you're fit. A few minutes up a steep flight of stairs to Royal Mile. Welcoming staff, pleasant public areas. Good sized room with good supply of tea, coffee, biscuits and toiletries if you're a last minute traveller. Fan provided during hot weather.Bedding and bathroom were clean. Good breakfast choice.

The pillows were awful, old and uncomfortable. Requested these be replaced for next guest. The floor in my room wasn't cleaned properly.

The view and location was amazing. Had the most beautiful view of the castle and was a 5 minute walk to the royal mile
